We have been eating at Clear Springs in Midland Texas for years since it opened. Everything on the menu is excellent especially the shrimp and grilled items. The ambiance is relaxed and the place is clean with ample seating and parking. Salads are excellent as well Green beans are great. We will eat there when we get a chance. I had Father's Day dinner here with my dad and brother. There was a long wait and they don't take reservations but we knew to expect it. The service was great. Our waitress, Nikki was helpful and fun. The menu's extensive. Most diners can find something. We started our meal with the fried mushrooms. They came with a side of ranch dressing and were so good. The batter was seasoned perfectly. Ranch dressing was just as good. It was hard to stop eating them. Everyone enjoyed their food. My only complaint is that the broccoli was horrible. Clear Springs has a fun atmosphere, plenty of seating for various sizes of group, and plenty of options on the menu. On a Sarurday night, we were seated quickly, the waitress was efficient with our drinks appetizers, and orders, and the food was terrific. We flew into the Midland Odessa airport and after looking at trusty Yelp reviews, we decided to check out this restaurant. We are very glad that we did! As the other reviews mentioned ,you get plenty of food ...- so because of that I asked if I could order from the child's menu and they said that I could. . It was a smaller portion, but it was just right for me. The place is very charming with lots of Texas old-fashioned decor. The music they played was of course Country music, but it was at a good level so we didn't have to scream across the table of each other to have a conversation. Our waitress was lovely and did not smother us with attention, but did not ignore us either. You can tell that she is very comfortable at this job and is very proficient at it! All of that with a great Texas accent! As for the food; YUM! After reading one of the reviews about the chicken fried pork ribeye, my husband decided to try it. As you can see in the picture of the portion was huge and I'm not sure how they cooked it, but it was literally melt in your mouth tender! The garlic mashed potatoes were also delicious. The only downside was the corn. You can tell they added sugar to it and it just didn't taste authentically sweet. It just tasted sugary. A friend with us got something called the Little Buddy, which was a catfish and shrimp dinner. I got the child's portion catfish dinner. And I gotta tell ya.... we completely agree when they say, the catfish here is delicious! Super yummy! The fries and coleslaw were also good. The hush puppies were good, but nothing to ride home about. So if you're ever in the Midland Texas area we believe that you would love the food here. read more

Me and some coworkers ordered some food to go, I have eaten here before and had good food and service, my only gripe is when someone orders a salad to go or at the restaurant try using a little quality control. My Chicken Salad had several brown pieces lettuce and a slimy piece, take pride in the food you serve and the quality, think of it like this would you serve that to yourself or your family and friends? Just because it's a take out order don't serve brown lettuce, the staff was friendly and my coworkers meals the shrimp brochettes were cooked to their liking, we also had the Stingers which were tasty. But make sure you tell the hostess not to sit you in the "castigados" section all the way in the back room far back dungeon corner. I came to the restaurant and sat at the bar. Only one other patron was there. Unfortunately, the bar was not very clean. Basically, it wasn't wiped off since another person ate and drank there. I took a picture of my food to show it off to my wife. I love pepper but everything was so peppery and tasted the same. I was sitting here dying from all that pepper. The little bar/server was waiting for a plate of food by the kitchen for like 5-10 minutes. I asked another waitress for a beer cause I was empty. She looked at me like I spoke another language and pointed at my server. She walked towards her but disappeared. I saw another waitress come behind the bar, and I grabbed my chest and acted like the big one was coming (Sandford & Son reference). She gave me a beer but it made my palate even more spicy because of the carbonation. I was never given water or I would have switched to water. It's me and one other dude at the bar. They forgot to add the hush puppies. We asked a other server if the meal included the hush puppies. She said, it did. She brought us a cup with 4 hush puppies. Like really? Only 4. She could have at least bring 8 hush puppies. I doubt the meal only came with 2 hush puppies. In regards to the service, we were seated quick and our orders were taken quick as well. The bad side was checking out. We were done with our meals and waited 15 mins to get a check. This is only because our server was helping out a table of 10 people. What has happened to Clear Springs. Over time, the service and food quality has really suffered. I come here often on my work trips, as it serves as a nearby go-to since I stay in the hotels in the area. I often order a variety of the entrees. But when we ate there yesterday, I noticed a real drop in quality. It was 3 in the afternoon, so it's not like it was super crowded. My wife ordered the shrimp tacos, and I ordered the Outlaw burger. The service was quick, but the food was terrible. Hard rice, rubbery shrimp. A cold burger: the cheese was barely melted. Our server took off during our meal. We had to flag another server. "Where did our server go?" "She left." While we were waiting to flag down a server, I noticed a couple waiting at the hostess stand. 10 minutes they waited! This is a normal go to restaurant for us. Last two experiences were different though. The food was cold and the fish was tough. They may be suffering from a staff shortage. My first visit to this restaurant was on 10-4-22. My coworker told me the food was great and he knows how I like my onion rings breaded. My coworker and I sat at the bar. Shauna was our bar tender. She was friendly and attentive. We ordered a small onion ring for the appetizer. It was ok. The onion rings were not hot, not even a little. Even though they were not fresh they were still crispy. My buddy later told me after dinner that they were subpar compared to his previous visits. For my entree I went with the shrimp brochette. Fantastic, well priced and the green beans were damn tasty. If the onion rings would have been hot and fresh I would have given five stars. Owner/GM....get a TV for the bar. I know it's a small bar top but any place with a bar top should have a TV. Oh, and if you want to take business from cotton patch, you're going to need jalapeño cream gravy and broccoli rice cheese casserole. read more
