We needed a place to be our special place and that is exactly what we have with Sid and Sams! I have eaten salmon all over the world including Seattle in the dock and fresh from a deep sea fishing boat in Alaska. The salmon at Sid & Sams is by far the best salmon I have ever had in my entire life! And the infamous grilled veggies that they serve with it are to die for! The salad bar is surprisingly fresh with a variety of options to please any palate! My husband loves the ribeye. But he did mention that the seasoning is inconsistent based on who prepares it. Chose this place for a celebration lunch with a couple friends. I'd been here twice before. It's a steak joint in a strip mall, so you don't immediately think it'll be the best thing ever, but they still lowered the bar even further. Table I was sat at was dirty. Not terribly so, but I kept brushing things off of it while I waited to n the rest to show up. Looking at the menu, I notice their prices were a lot higher than I remembered. The largest steak on offer was a 22oz ribeye at just shy of $60. I ended up ordering a 16oz t-bone. What I was served was nowhere close to 16oz. I don't carry a scale with me to steakhouses, but a 16oz T-bone anywhere else is a different cut than what I was served. I ordered it medium rare and it was just a bit too done to be called blue rare. Definitely a bottom cut as it had bone and gristle in it that aren't in a normal t-bone cut except the discount cuts. They obviously didn't attempt to trim it at all. It may have been 10oz. We also got fried pickles and some steak bits that were wrapped in bacon. The pickles were fine. One of the steak bite things was just a chunk of gristle wrapped in bacon. One of my guests ordered whiskey and coke with Johnny walker red as that's what they had. JW red sells for $20-40/fifth depending on where you're at. They charged $43/oz for it. $86 drink made with cheap blended scotch. To top everything off, the waitress gave me the wrong check. I had one check saying that I owed $260 for the crap they out on the table, another check that was itemized for just under $100 for another table. The other times I went it was late and I had prime rib which is only available after 5:00 on Fridays and Saturdays. I have much fonder memories of those meals. This one was terrible. I remember now why we haven't eaten there in over a decade!!! Today was my husbands birthday. We decided to eat close to home so we went to Sid & Sams. Once we sat down, I noticed our table was sticky to the touch. So I used napkins dipped in my water to clean our area. I had the grilled salmon which was way over grilled and dry for a mere $28.99. My husband had the 8 oz. prime rib. It was an end cut and there was no flavor to it whatsoever!! His meal cost $31.99. And the "famous salad bar" is nothing more than bagged iceberg lettuce with a few veggies to throw on top. Our waitress was very sweet, that's the only good thing I can say about the place. I was in town for work, I haven't been to Odessa for several years. I was craving a non-chain meal and being in Odessa, I wanted steak. Sid & Sam's was a delightful, quintessential, uniquely Texas experience. It's a little hole in the wall tucked in a strip mall but it's adorable inside - old Texas steakhouse style. Service is casual but warm and friendly. I got a chopped steak that was cooked with fresh jalapeños and it was incredible! I tried a side of the poblano cream sauce and it was fantastic. My beef was cooked perfectly with a nice char and grill lines. The loaded baker was great and the nice server got me extra everything when I requested it! The salad bar is on a cute old wagon - it was a really yummy salad. I had a big glass of Pinot noir that was also excellent - and only $8. The server, Brooksy, was also the bartender as it was early- I came just before the dinner hour- and she was patient and helped me pick out a great wine. Every entree comes with a salad plate where they have plenty of options to choose from. The chicken fried streak was really good and my friend said his ribeye really hit the spot. Ok to start the food is always really good! BUT this weasel of a server read out the ticket to me line item by line item. I didn't have my reader glasses so I didn't notice that he had given himself a 22.5% gratuity $17.30. I thought the ticket was kinda high but I haven't been out to eat in awhile. Sid & Sams is a true rustic steakhouse. My boyfriend decided to come eat here for date night. There is a lot of parking it is right next to Planet Fitness and is in a large shopping area. It is kind of hidden but once we walked in, it feels like a old Texas restaurant. We were seated immediately. The waitress was very knowledgeable and attentive. We never had to ask for refills she provided us with such great customer service, she checked on us frequently. They have a salad bar which was pretty good. They have a bar area towards the back which is nice, they had a huge party sitting in the back area. A great place for a company lunch or big gathering. The salad bar looked fresh and had lots of toppings the only thing that was missing for me was sunflower seeds. But that is just me I love them on my salad. We ordered our food which Is expensive but you are getting a larger serving compared to other steakhouses I have been to so I didn't mind. My boyfriend eats a lot like most men do and he didn't even finish all of his meal and he was stuffed. But if you are hungry they do have a cowboy steak that is a whopping 22oz!!! We ordered the onion ring appetizer and it was pretty large serving we had to take some home. And you get a fresh basket of bread which was pretty fluffy and fresh. The food offered here you can tell is cooked by chefs that really love and enjoy to cook. Where we were seated we could see the chefs and they looked focused and they had a lot of orders but they were on point. The wait staff also were busy but they kept a watch on all the tables and they kept the dining area and salad bar clean. Which is so refreshing to see, as soon as someone left the waitstaff immediately started cleaning the area. So this restaurant was very clean. My bf ordered a ribeye steak with fries and a trip to the salad bar comes with the meal. I ordered the filet mignon with creamed corn. The creamed style corn was very very good. My steak was cooked to perfection, I like my steak medium rare and the chef definitely achieved it. The desserts looked so good but we were too stuffed to even order. Overall the place was great. The food left me stuffed and the service was great. It wasn't too busy but I feel like it's because it was a Saturday night and today was pretty hot day so most people were staying in or choose one of the new more modern restaurants. Not sure what to say anymore. Place is disgusting. Hope I don't get sick. I ordered the Mission Kabob and a Raspberey Tea. The Raspberry Tea tasted funny but whatever. I go to the salad bar, great. As I'm eating my salad something catches my peripheral vision. Yup, a creepy crawler right as I'm eating; crawling up and down the wall. Luckily I have a strong stomach. I didn't want to cause a big scene about it so I couldn't get any of the server's attention. So be it. I finally get my food and the filet mignon looked like chicken and was raw. The onion rings are bland and have been for a long time. At least my server was great so she traded it for a filet mignon steak instead. At this point I tell them about our little friend on the wall. They set out to look for him, then walk away. My server comes back and she tells me they couldn't find him. So as far as I know he is still alive and living it up in there. The steak was good but it was rare and borderline raw, I asked for medium. The whole dining experience was a bit horrendous, I felt like Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector. The worst part I order a drink to go and lo and behold another critter inside the drink. I probably ate my fair share of insects today. If I die it won't be the coronavirus... Overall the restaurant has gone severely downhill but the price has gone in the opposite direction. Slash the prices of everything in there in half and you have what you would expect from a 1 star restaurant. My husband ordered the steak with sweet potato fries but they were horrible they were overloaded with cinnimon and tasted disgusting. I was dissapointed in this place because of the price. Food was okay. I would say the steaks are not worth the price. Hubby got the sirloin. He said it tasted good but was on the small side. I got the soup and salad bar. The soup was not the one listed and the waitress never mentioned it when I ordered. Instead of chicken tortilla it was broccoli and cheese. Not very good. Horrible experience. Will not be back. We went in for lunch and the place was pretty empty, despite this our food took 35-40 minutes to get to us . My fries were cold, my steak was a filet mignon bland, tough and leathery. The shrimp I received were supposed to be fried were not, and they were cold. This is one of my favorite places to eat, the food is amazing the service is awesome but tonight it was all way above and beyond. Christopher our server was excellent he was kind, courteous, caring, respectful and one heck of a server. Always checking on us every few mins what an amazing young man. While.he waited on his entire section he was always there no matter how busy. When he was able to slow some he would come sit and visit with us we learned a lot about him which to us was the best customer service we have ever had. Also the young lady that seated us, Bethany again amazing she out us in the exact place we asked for our comfort and again very amazing young lady. She also was able to sit with us and visit learning a lot about her as well. This young lady works hard and she's still so young, has a awesome outlook on life and what she wants and definetly isn't afraid to go after it. She has a wonderful deep caring heart and when we go back we will be sure they are both there and she will always seat us as well as him being our server. After our long comfortable awesome stay we asked to see the manager, he himself explained he was on his first night but noticed the things we did about this 2 young people. We even got greeted by a sweet man by thr name of Travis. I am proud to call this place home (that's exactly the way it felt) and they have such a few wonderful crew that we now consider like family. We really enjoyed tonight's visit, I myself have been coming here for years and now my boyfriend he love's it. Thank you and our hats off to you all. We went to Sid & Sams today for the first time. We took out our daughter and her husband who were visiting from the Austin area. They suggested the restaurant. We were seated at table #10, waitress "Wendy" who turns out to be the rudest waitress ever. It was right around opening time, about 11:10am, she seats us and we were going to eat lunch. She looks at the five of us. As I'm watching her mannerisms, and she decides in her mind that we weren't going to be tippers, she got this snappy, short attitude. We ordered tea and cokes, and proceeded to order lunch. This place was very high for what it was, nothing was under 15.00 - at that was not including your beverage. She brought us rolls with no butter; I look as I'm walking to the salad bar, everyone else received rolls with butter. She served lemon IN MY TEA, even though I had not asked for it. She stood around where we had to call her over for every little thing. I asked for silverware to get the lemon out of my tea, and she drops 5 sets over by my husband. I then had to ask her again, and my husband said, they are over here. I asked her how big the burgers are, she said they were normal size. I received my burger and it was definitely a 1lb patty (my son and I could have split it), the chicken fried steak my husband ordered was the small one, and he said it wasn't very good, and my daughter & husband split a full size steak finger basket. We then ordered dessert, I asked whether the pecan cobbler was like pecan pie, and whether it was warm, she replied yes. My husband ordered the blackberry cobbler, and my daughter the peach, and I ordered the pecan cobbler. Their cobblers were fine, and mine came out like the filling of a pecan pie (like soup) no bread for the cobbler even in it. We had to keep asking her for stuff, she kept making faces, smacking her lips like she was somebody with more clout and above everybody. When she figured out I was the one going to pay the bill, she almost fell over. I almost tipped her 2.36 cents, but gave it to my husband to take care of. All in all, lunch for four adults and a 16 year old was 106 and some change. Prices which are far above Saltgrass Steak House just right down the road. Will not be back, will not recommend it to anyone, and will definitely give Wendy a piece of my mind if I ever run into her in Odessa. This place sucks. read more

Went again on Friday. I am proud to say that the issues I had notated previously were nonexistent this time. Good service, hot potato, warm rolls and a good looking salad bar. My entire party were pleased in their meals, and service. If they keep up with this level of dining satisfaction I will return often. Any restaurant can live to be a hundred if they will stay consistent. Consistent food, and service are paramount.. The decor sets the tone, clean well maintained speaks to great food and dirty and or neglected decor tells you right off don't go any further.
