I understand that my review is mostly based on history and my fond memories of finding Oscar's Super Burrito and going there in the 1990's while I went to Lee Highschool. My favorites there was always a good brisket and cheese burrito. But like most Mexican food places i always started just a bean and cheese burrito or taco, cause if you mess that up then I cannot trust you to make anything else. Last time I was in I was it had been a good 20 years since I had been to Midland and able to even go to Oscar's. I needed something to hold me over as I drove back from Texas to New Mexico. Decided to get an easy chorizo, egg, and cheese burrito. I don't know if it's under new management from what it was when I would go in there but not the level of service that I was used to. I was worried that I might not even get the right order even though it should have been a simple burrito. When I started eating it was not the blast from the past that I was expected but more a mid level chorizo egg and cheese burrito. The inside was a bit more grimy and larger than I remember but it did not subtract or add to the experience in anyway. These are by far the worst burritos I have the 3 years I've been here in Midland. My job ordered a large order of burritos and they had no taste at all. Super bland. Overload of potatoes, meat had no flavor. This is not an overstatement but probably one of the worst burritos I've ever had in my life. Y'all can do way better than this crap you served us. I've been coming here for a while to get breakfast burritos. My favorite is the Oscar's Super Burrito. Was in the area so I thought I would try their lunch. I got a jalapeño cheeseburger with fries. I was initially excited to eat here because of the reviews. What my family and I were served was not up to my expectations. The egg and bacon burrito my daughter ordered was so greasy that she had to dab with a napkin. My son and I ordered plates. Mine came with fajitas, enchilada, tamale, rice and beans. The rice looked and tasted reheated on both our plates. It was crunchy and dry. The fajita served was not a fajita cut but actually cut up sirloin steak and the flavor was lacking. If I could give this less than one star today I would the chili verde did not taste like Chile Verde at all, it was in a Brown sauce not a green sauce. Decent little place. Wish they were open on Sunday! Tried to come here in a Sunday but they were closed. Finally made it on a Saturday morning. The drive-threw line was quite long, basically to the street. I choose to go insides - you should too. They have about 40 tables and only 3 were occupied. Plus you get the serve your own salsa bar. It's a walk up and order type of place. The lady behind the counter wasn't the friendliest but all she needs to do is write down my order correctly anyway. They charge for water. Lame. Their menu is quite big. Mostly just written different types of burritos. I got the Oscar's Super Burrito and the School Boy. It's basically their top of the line burritos. Their burritos are small enough that you can eat two but big enough that one would hold you for a few hours or until lunch. Both burritos weren't bad. Not excellent but not terrible. Satisfies breakfast's craving for a meal though . The burritos had medium separation of the many ingredients. I could taste most of the different fillings such as the bacon, ham or jalapeños but the eggs were kinda of mushy with the chorizo. The tortillas wrapping them were pretty good. One of my favorite parts is their serve your own salsa. It's a good salsa. Lots of onions and cilantro, good amount of water from the tomatoes and touched with a medium amount of spice. Overall, not a bad spot. About average for a burrito. Prices are pretty cheap, food is fulfilling for breakfast. Wish they were open on Sunday's. read more

A small, hidden restaurant "off the beaten path", so it was rarely busy when I went. I also rarely dined in, but I may have once or twice. For this place I would usually order my food to-go, mostly for convenience. I really enjoyed their burritos. My favorite I would order had beans, cheese, & potatoes, & sometimes rice (vegetarian-friendly). They were good-sized burritos too, so one was enough. They also included some excellent salsa on the side in a 1/2-ounce container or 2. I liked to pour it onto the burrito to give that great spicy kick. Burritos are rather different that's for sure. Ginormous menu but again a lot of odd ball items. The salsa for the burrito has a very funky taste to it. Can't pin it down but perhaps too much garlic. Why this restaurant is still open amazes me. Not only is their customer service horrible but they don't even bother to tell their customers thank you or even that we are getting a service charge for using debit cards. For an asado breakfast plate that was $9.78 I ended up paying $12.45! When I tried asking the girl through intercom if I can get a fried egg she completely ignored me so I had to pull up to window and saw they they already had my order going lol like damn let me ask you a few questions first. The girl proceeded to charge me saying my total is $11.78, not once saying anything about service charge, gave me my order and walked away. When I got to work I noticed they didn't even give me my tortillas, the potatoes were more like mashed potatoes with a lot of butter, everything else was ok but I'm annoyed at this point, I call them back because I checked my account and saw the charge & when I questioned the girl who answered I tried to tell her in Spanish what happened and she ended up saying "English" but couldn't even speak English to me, she didn't understand much but she finally told me about service charge. Hey Oscar you might want to upgrade that menu and add service charge so customers can know and it wouldn't hurt to replace that menu with one that is readable. Also please get employees who can actually thank someone for giving you business. I've been here a handful of times and the only reason I go there is because other popular business are packed, might want to see what they're doing so you can get some pointers. The first time I had a breakfast burrito from Oscar's, i was craving for more!! It is the best burrito i have ever had- no question. The egg, bacon and sausage burrito contains a well cooked omelet with pieces of bacon and sausage. It comes with a home made salsa and it is sooooo good. I woke up early one morning just to go get another one. It is that good, in my book, it definitely has no challenger... I might come back to midland just for a super Oscars burrito. read more

I love this place and the only reason it gets four stars instead of five is because of how off it can be sometimes. First let me say they have great asado. It's fantastic for breakfast. The green chili and beef always hits the spot as well. If you hate your arteries try to polish off the football player burrito. But...I've been twice where the salsa was so salty as to be inedible and on one occasion the asado was so tough and dry that I didn't even finish the burrito. I've been ordering from Oscar's for many years, mostly breakfast burritos. The food is good, my only issue is ALWAYS being Overcharged for my items. No matter if going thru drive thru or going in. Haven't ordered from them I quite a while because I'm disabled, but just ordered last Friday, asked for total over phone, was told she couldn't ring it up, but told me mt taco salad was $4.50 and burrito was $2.89. My friend that picked it up for me called me from there, since she had to wait, and said she thought they overcharged her. It was $10.15 after the senior Oscar runs his adding machine as always.
