Honestly, I don't see how this place is still in business. The flavors are all off! It tasted more like Italian or Greek seasoning than bbq and the sauce was so watered down and flavorless. The cubed brisket (I think that's what it was?) was tough and flavorless, the macaroni and potato salads were bland with TOO much onion in them to taste anything else and the beans with tiny squares of ham in them still lacked any normal bean flavor. How do you screw up beans?? The sausage was the only thing that remotely tasted normal. This is NOT the best Texas has to offer for bbq, I could do so much better in my own backyard with a simple fire pit and a bottle of cheap Heinz bbq sauce. Save your money! read more

An interesting stop for lunch. While on a business trip passing through Midland I looked for a place for lunch. Browns BBQ it was! I chose the 1 meat & 2 sides I went with the Pulled Pork, Potato Salad, &. Baked Beans! The pulled pork was very tasty but the baked beans stole the show as did the potato salad both were excellent choices. The one thing I did not care for was the BBQ sauce - a very high vinegar flavor. We discovered that Midland, TX of all places has a legit bbq place that has an *entire vegan menu*. People don't believe us! We have someone with severe lactose intolerance and the fact that you can get all these items with vegan sauces and cheeses and know it's safe for them is just so amazing to us because normally eating out with a dairy allergy is harder than you'd expect it to be lol . Aside from that, we also have several people who are vegetarian/vegan for medical health reasons, so this place really does it all. We can have ppl with us who want the real authentic Texas bbq, and our friends with dietary restrictions can ALL enjoy the same amazing food. The owners are so friendly and accommodating, the food is all so hot and fresh and made to order. My husband and I were in Midland for the night and craved barbecue. We read the reviews and gave it a shot. We both ordered brisket platters. The brisket was so tender and cubed . My sides were Cole slaw and truffled potatoes were delicious. We had a nice conversation with the owner who was very attentive to customers. We arrived on a Friday at 5:30 - and they had sold out of food. We were disappointed and trying to figure out plan B, when Mr. Brown said "I'll get you some Scoobie snacks to hold you over". Five minutes later he came out with a bin of giant ribs, then made us take a bottle of his own BBQ sauce. The ribs were fantastic and so was the sauce. But most of all, we were so impressed and appreciative of how Mr. Brown takes care of customers. I had a chopped beef sandwich and cole slaw for lunch. The sandwich was large, plenty of meat, but it had too much fat for my liking. The taste was good. I went with a friend that had a sliced beef sandwich and a side order of sausage. He let me try a piece of the sausage and it was good. I didn't care for the cole slaw, but I guess everybody has their own favorites. This slaw was dry and had some sort of nuts or something in it. I travel the country quite often and have lived in 37 states doing sales and also over the road trucking so when I'm hungry I often do my research. Unfortunately there is too many bbq places in Texas to choose from. As God as my witness there is no longer any other choices. Its Browns BBQ or nothing. The levels of respect I have for this buisness and the owners is out of this world. You will not have a more personalized experience. Mr Brown and his wife were very welcoming the second I walked in, honestly felt like walking in my own personal home. The atmosphere, the smell, HEAVEN ON EARTH! Mr Brown always says he doesn't want to float his own boat when it comes to his cooking, but my hell if he did he'd sail the 7 seas lookin more fresh then Magellan himself. Okay okay now to the food, for starters your typical BBQ joint has okay meat, usually smoked brief then cranked up temp to finish quick. Not here, everything is low and slow all day long. Absolutely NO SHORTCUTS, as a pitmaster myself I would know. Your average BBQ place will have there typical meats then offer 4 or 5 bottles of sauce to slather your quick smoked meat. But what they really are doing is covering there poor process. Mr Brown has one sauce that I know of, I feel a sauce is an insult to a meat so I always get it on the side for only light compliments of gods given oh so delicious choice of animals. Its sweet, its smokey, tangy, and just a wee lil dash of heat. I could probably drink it like a soup if I wanted (don't try that). So okay off topic again im sorry back to the reason your here. THE MEATS!! I got the brisket, rib eye, sausage, and pulled pork, and the owner insisted I try the train wreck as well!! Brisket: Juicy, melty, perfect smoke, eye rolling delicious Rib eye: Perfectly grilled, great seasoning, just the right fat. Smoked Sausage: Holy SMOKES literally ive never had a better Sausage ever! It was a good mild-medium heat with an absolute indescribable taste when you bite into it and crack the casing open and it just dribbles your taste buds with little mini sprinkles of Jesus himself working all sorts of wonders on your tongue. I couldn't get enough of it... Pulled pork: just wow. So good so wet. So much flavor if this pork had its own theme song it would be Cardi B's new song WAP (WET ASS PORK) The Trainwreck: Last but not least this item is only a dollar. Yes a dollar and im not going to tell you everything that's in it because all you need to know is its a mixture of love in a tortilla. But you can't find a decent dollar item anywhere else anymore. The vegetable of the day was a mixture of sprouts, asparagus, mushrooms, bell peppers and lightly sautéed in olive oil. This was great. The impossible tacos were to die for. What great flavor. I am a vegan and he is not so it was a perfect option for us both. I got the vegan tacos -- SO DAMN GOOD! I will give a word of caution on the spice level -- I loved it but if you don't enjoy heat don't get the jalapeños or ask for them on the side. It's not vegan-only, but the vegan options include all the popular vegan meats, plus veggies, peppers, mushrooms, onions, pico, fake Gouda, etc. So good and so filling! He's not a food truck anymore; they're in a store front now. They were kind and welcoming. (And their outside smokers of real meat look amazing too.) Vegan options included - tacos, fajitas, burgers, etc. He sold us both on the impossible burger. We of course had to get the burger loaded (follow your heart Gouda, FYH Thousand island, mushrooms, peppers, onions, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, vegan soup dust (special spice)) -- also they make sure to clean the grill - seriously? That is a true understanding & appreciation for our lifestyle. Let me preface again we are from Boston where vegan food is readily available & this is THE BEST BURGER WE HAVE EVER HAD. We both looked at each other & said this is better than any meat burger we have ever had, even when we ate meat. It was absolutely outstanding!!! Finished it in what felt like seconds. We're from out of town & picked Brown's bbq on a whim and I am SO GLAD we did!!! Literally everything was amazing - I had the Ribeye with Mac & cheese and baked beans and my son had a burger & fries which were also delish! They don't have indoor seating but they do have a little set up outside that worked just fine. All the staff were friendly and courteous even though we went in an hour before close.
