This was one of the most disappointing restaurant experiences I've had in a long time. The service was extremely slow, and after waiting far longer than expected, our food arrived cold. After that kind of wait, serving cold food is simply unacceptable. What really made this experience stand out, though, was the owner's attitude. When I had a question about my bill, he walked up, grabbed the ticket out of my hand in a rude manner, and acted like I was the problem. I made an honest mistake because I didn't realize the kids' meals didn't include drinks. Instead of simply explaining it politely, he responded in a condescending way, basically saying they never come with drinks. To make matters worse, the drinks for the kids were $2.99 each--the same price as an adult drink. The children were only 20 months old and 5 years old, so charging full-price drinks for toddlers and young kids was disappointing on top of everything else. I also couldn't help but notice the difference in how people were treated. The owner was very friendly and welcoming to customers he appeared to know, but if you weren't a regular, it felt like your experience didn't matter. Even by the standards of restaurants I've visited in Midland, this experience stood out for all the wrong reasons. Good customer service means treating every customer with respect, not just the regulars. Between the rude interaction, the cold food after a long wait, and the complete lack of concern, this was an experience I won't be repeating. The place looks a like an 50 / 60's dinner. However several booths and tables are in need of repair. The coffee is a mild blend. Order the biscuits and gravy with a side of eggs. I was underwhelmed with the gravy (was told that there was sausage in it but it was hard to find except for the 1/4 piece of a patty added.) one of my two eggs were overcooked. The food was absolutely delicious. My husband and I ate here for breakfast. I had the scrambled eggs with sausage and toast. My husband had the same, but with over easy eggs. When we sat down, our waitress asked if we would like a hot cinnamon roll that just came out of the oven. First off, we're not small people, she hooked us right into the food bait. The cinnamon roll was absolutely amazing. It was big, hot, and fresh. The atmosphere was very quiet and peaceful. We were the only people eating at the time, and it was nice to carry on a conversation with Christian music in the background at a nice, calm level. 1st tip before you sit down make sure that not only the top of the table is wiped off but the sides also. Our table had syrup dripping down the side of it, easy to understand how that could happen after watching the way one of the servers wiped down tables, pretty much pushed everything over the edge. I pointed out to him that he needed to come back and clean another table as I watched him push a big glob of ketchup off the side. Service was slow apparently our server had to resubmit our order instead of owning up to mistake was like kitchen is slow don't know what happened. Let me start off by saying I will NEVER return to Red Plate Dinner ever again!!! I have never been somewhere that serves a dry club sandwich. So when I ordered it I ordered it with mayo and honey mustard on it. They bring us our food and it has neither nor on my sandwich. It is on the side. I am not going to tear down a club sandwich that is $8.00 to add the spread I requested for it. My husband calls the waitress over to our table and I tell her I didn't order a dry sandwich and tell her she can take it back I don't want it. She comes back and tells me my manager is going to remake the sandwich and add the spread I requested on it. I said that's okay I don't want it. By this time my husband is already more then halfway done with his food. So why would I want a club sandwich that that should have been done right the first time? Here comes the cook (which I find out later due to his unprofessionalism that he is the owner named Terry and should have addressed himself as such. Instead he said here is the sandwich you requested with mayo and honey mustard on it. He knew we where getting up to go pay and leave by this time because my husband was done eating. I said I don't want it. He said I just made two sandwiches and you don't want them? I said I didn't ask for that one. He said yes you did. I said I told the waitress I didn't want it. He said ohhhhh yes you did. My husband said no she didn't by this time I am soooo embarrassed that he is down talking me and I can't believe he is the owner.
