I first visited Far West on a day trip to Midland and was thoroughly impressed by what it is, what it does, and the true semi-traditional, semi-modern aesthetic it has going for it. A slight cowboy tinge to a modern minimalist coffee shop. It makes sense being in oil city, where Landman is based. Its storefront has this old brick feeling, and inside the space is gorgeous. Plenty of natural light leaks through, with wood accents and granite tables. They have a kitchen in the back because on Fridays they have a full breakfast menu that is delicious. The staff is kind and cozy. You forget you in Midland entirely, and you feel transported to a coffee shop in South Austin. That's how above and beyond this place feels The coffee is top notch every time. This time I got their Bourbon Latte from the winter menu, which was great, while my girlfriend got their Cafe de Olla that she really enjoyed. The space is nice for work or just relaxing. We showed up to one with a free bounce house, classic cars, fantastic local vendors, and the star of the show was definitely Smooth Bean! The coffee shop itself offered free candy, toys, and crafts for the kids as part of the event. But on a regular basis, they have an amazing IG worthy selfie wall as well as toys for little kids and games for families to use. The menu is family friendly too! My kids can't have caffeine due to health conditions so I love that they have several blended drinks that are caffeine free as well as craft Italian soda type options that they were willing to create from scratch for them! My kids went with the Double Chocolate blended drink and my husband tried the blended Vanilla caffeine free one and they all said they were incredible! I was shocked at how gorgeous and well crafted they were for the price compared to the corporate coffee shops and even told them their prices might be too low! They offer waffle dogs and I learned the meat is all lamb sausage from the local high end Midland Meat Market - making the price even more impressive! We watched the staff all go above and beyond for each and every customer with giant smiles on their faces! It was clear how much they all truly do enjoy being a team and working together there to put out a quality product and fun experience for the community! I cannot recommend them highly enough and am excited to go check out their new Greenwood location when it opens!
