This is a great place to eat. Service was very good & everyone was nice & friendly! The food was good, we had Chicken Fried Chicken, not crazy about their gravy but the chicken was good! The backed potatoes could have been warmer but they were good. Mozzarella sticks were not great, choose a different appetizer. I used to love this place but the last few times we have been here it's not good as it used to be. I ordered a cup of chicken tortilla soup which was supposed to come out before my meal. I was served a cup of potato soup with my meal. I informed the waitress when she sat it on the table that it was not chicken tortilla soup even though she insisted that it was. I told her again that it was not. She took it and returned with a cup of ice cold chicken tortilla soup. My husband ordered a steak cooked medium. It was served with blood running out of it. It was sent back as well. When she returned with the steak I told her that the soup was cold when it came out and that I didn't want any more. There was no apology, she just told us to enjoy the rest of our food. Before we left a dead fly fell on our table. The window was full of flies. It was very disgusting. I like it! We live close so we go there often enough. But DO NOT CALL IN YOUR ORDER. They'll tell you it'll be ready in 15 minutes but when you show up 15 minutes later you're still going to wait another 30-45 minutes EVERY TIME! . But if you're dining in that is not the case , you will receive your meal in a very reasonable time. Food is quality servers are nice. Another sub par lunch lunch. Server got both our orders wrong. After taking our order server came back about 10 minutes later and ask how I wanted my burger cooked I told her first bad sign our order had not been sent to to cook. When orders did come out mine was missing the jalapenos on burger and got other order wrong had to take wrong order back and start hers again. The menu is your standard American cafe fare. Vegetable choices include okra and black-eyed peas, and some other Southern specialties, but there are really no big surprises. When our food came out, my fried okra was cold (room temperature), but our waiter took care of it immediately. The "Dixie Belle" portions are more than enough food for any adult, although I suppose the name is intended to shame men into not ordering it. I totally love this place! This is totally a place that we always tend to go to as a family. It's always so much food even if you get the smaller "Dixie Bell" portion. I generally have a had time deciding on a veggie. My son almost always goes for the bacon cheese fries! Garlic mashed potatoes, fried okra, corn, fries, baked squash, black-eyed peas, broccoli rice casserole, green beans, baked potato?? Dang, so many good choices! I love their chicken fried steak and their chicken fried chicken. I've been here so many times, but I can't really remember ever having bad service...sometimes slower than I'd like, but we can't expect such promptness when all the tables are packed! I ate at Cotton Patch a couple of times years ago, I did not think it was very good so I didn't go back. A friend told me that he had been there recently and it was now much better than I remembered it. I decided to give it another try and he was right. Since eating there again I now go back regularly, the last time there I had Marissa for a server and she could not have been any better. She teaches in Colbert but works at Cotton Patch part time, I believe she is most likely an asset to both the Colbert School System and also to Cotton Patch. Try Cotton Patch, they have a lot of variety and some great servers. I'm giving Cotton Patch four stars because I only give five stars to the most elegant restaurants with white tablecloths, very upscale dishes, etc. Cotton Patch is just basic good food but not elegant dining. If I could I would give five stars to Marissa and four stars to Cotton Patch. read more

Really like the food here I know it is hard to get and keep good people.wanted chicken fried chicken brought the small one did not ask. Never get the small one. Said sorry!The order is almost always something wrong. The sides are always barely warm. Rolls are hard to get by the time u do meal is over after the 1st basket. I am working tonight but wanted to eat somewhat healthy, so I decided to order a Ribeye--med rare with steamed veggies, broccoli rice (they were out of baked potatoes on a Friday night) and a cup of chicken and dumplings. I also ordered the salsa and queso with chips. I placed my order at 7:30 and got there about 7:45. My steak was brought out in a to go box right after I got there and placed on a counter with nothing to keep it warm. A few minutes later, a waitress walked thru a bunch of employees with a net baggie of "steamed" veggies and dumped them into the box. At 8pm my order still wasnt ready. As I was complaining to the manager and he was refunding my money, they brought the rest of my order that was missing--the queso (salsa was already sitting on the counter next to the box getting warm) and the cup of chicken and dumplings. It took the manager 6--count them...6--minutes to refund my money. Nothing about this restaurant is courteous (she hung up on me when I placed my order) or healthy (carrying food thru the restaurant is not hygienic and breaks several health code violations which the manager admitted to, not to mention leaving your food to cool down to room temp is not safe). Do yourself a favor and eat someplace that is courteous and takes pride in keeping your food hot and safe until its delivered into your hands. read more

I have been to Cotton Patch Cafe many times over many years and tonight was the worse. We were there for 1 1/2 hours and most of the time was waiting for the food. When my food came it was cold. The mash potatoes and gravy was cold and the potatoes were hard. The meat loaf was burnt on the end and could not be eaten. The bill for 4 was $75 dollars and I had water. The waitress was great and she kept the drinks filled while we were waiting for the food. I was very disappointed this time and I seriously doubt we will go back. Jean W. read more

So we have been here twice and the reason we came back for a second time was not because the first time was great....(in fact it was horrible) our waitress messed up and forgot about us. We had great service up until after we got our food. Then our waitress was never to be seen again. We tried to flag down other waiters and no one helped us. The food was GREAT. Finally i took our three year old and went to the car whike my husband found the manager. Before we spoke to the manager our waitress appeared and was apologizing profusely. She had went back to roll silverware and forgot about us. The manager came out and apologized and gave us a coupon for dinner for two for free and didnt make us pay for our food. Now thats not we were looking for. We aren't the ones who like to yell and hollar and want free things. We just feel that a manager should know whats going on. The waitress and manager both did what was needed. They cared that we had poor service and continued to apologize. People can make mistakes its how they react to those mistakes that matter to us. So we came back for a second time and had wonderful food AND wonderful service. We made sure to ket the manager know it was much better this time. Fast service with excellent service. They are the best (and biggest) fried mushrooms I have ever had and their queso is to die for! Everything I have ever eaten there is so so good. I ordered a Turkey sandwich and it came on Rye bread (which I quickly learned I did not care for) and they remade the sandwich without me even asking.
