1/2 catfish strips burn it with fries and beans

Incredible food, incredible service! The best place to get catfish in the state of Texas! Highly recommend the catfish strips and Burn it!!

Black eyed peas, extra crispy catfish, fried okra

Very good catfish! It's been about 20 years since I had catfish and this was like eating my childhood memories. Extra crispy is the way to go! The hush puppies were also so good! I didn't care for the black eyed peas... too soupy. However I could have eaten only fried okra and been happy! So good! If I lived in the area, I would frequent this establishment.

Our favorite catfish joint. We love it so much we drive 45 minutes to enjoy the good food and super friendly service. My husband ordered the 2 piece w salad and spinach. I ordered the 2 piece w shrimp w pinto beans and cole slaw. Delicious. It was nice and cool inside since it was hot as fish grease outside. Can't wait to visit again.

My favorite place to get catfish! This spot is really worth the drive. The catfish is so fresh and doesn't have that fishy taste whatsoever. I love their fries and other fried veggies (squash, okra) as well! The sweet tea is also on point. This place is like stepping back in time lol, it's dated but fits the experience. Be prepared to wait a bit if you come on the weekend but it's well worth it!

The best fried catfish I've had in years, the shrimp were excellent, as well as the coleslaw and beans! Had the best experience, the service was above and beyond wonderful!! Would recommend 100%

3/4 order of cat fish

Came here on the recommendation of another restaurant, for a great burger. Really solid place. First they address food allergies in their menu. The cook shellfish in separate oil, making it easy to order. This time just had to have the catfish. The catfish was light and moist, not a hint of fishy flavor. The sides were good, although the fries were soggy. Service was super fast and friendly. The parking lot was busy, but the interior is larger than it looks Do yourself a favor try bucks

Will drive an hour to eat at Hucks! No fancy tables or ambiance just the nicest staff delivering the best tasting Mississippi styled catfish. Extensive side options. I order my catfish extra crispy with a hint of Cajun and it's always perfection!

Went there about a year ago and found the catfish was very good but the tartar sauce was very, very bland.

Our standard Saturday crew went to Sugar Bacon in downtown McKinney tonight and it was fantastic!…read more Our server, Carson, was kind, attentive, and did a great job walking us through the items we ordered to make sure we were good with everything included. Kudos to him! Now for the food... it was outstanding. Between us we ordered the tacos, chicken fried steak, and the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. Let's talk about the tacos first. The meat was incredibly tender and flavorful, topped with a tasty lime crema and delicious grilled veggies. The loaded fries were the side of choice with that dish and they were so good--crispy, flavorful, and the ranch was absolutely on point (which is very important, ha!). The chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans was so good that there was literally nothing left on the plate. The steak was crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and the gravy was perfect. The green beans had just a little kick to them which made them fantastic. And the Nashville hot chicken sandwich... wow. It was HUGE (see pic below) and cooked perfectly. The ambiance of the place was also great. It has a welcoming vibe where you can come dressed up for a night out or keep it casual and still feel comfortable. If you're looking for a great dinner spot in downtown McKinney, Sugar Bacon is definitely worth the visit!

This place is truly something special, from the gracious hospitality to the incredible menu. The menu delivers elevated Southern comfort food that somehow manages to feel both nostalgic and fresh at the same time. I've worked my way through almost the entire menu over multiple visits, and I can honestly say that everything is incredible. Every time I take someone new there, I tell them that there hasn't been one dish that I've ever thought "meh" about. Every dish is so flavorful and outstanding. That said, I absolutely have my go-to order: the cornbread (a must), the southern greens, and the fried chicken. The cornbread is almost like a melt in your mouth dessert, that I happily start every visit with. The greens are packed with rich, savory flavor, and I'm not kidding when I say that every time I have them, I literally dream about them for weeks after. And the duck fat fried chicken? Crispy, juicy, and hands-down some of the best I've ever had. Beyond the food, the whole experience just feels thoughtful, from the quality of ingredients to the execution of every dish. You can tell there's real intention behind everything coming out of the kitchen. If you're anywhere near Farmers Branch, this spot is worth going out of your way for. And if it's your first visit--trust me, get the cornbread, southern greens, and fried chicken. You'll be dreaming about it later.

Each time we've visited, it has been packed. The menu at Roots has a variety of offerings, all with a twist/elevation on Southern soul food cuisine. There are some items that are constant on their menu and usually items that are created seasonally. Our waiter was helpful, pleasant and professional and the overall service was excellent. I ordered †he scallops with ravioli w/mushrooms and hubby order the redfish over rice. Both were delicious. The scallops and redfish were perfectly cooked. For dessert we ordered the Orange Juice Cake and the Berries and Lemonade sorbet. The OJ cake had a really good taste, but it is served floating in liquid...which makes the cake too wet. I think if there was less juice, it might keep some of it's flavor without making the cake so soggy. With that being said...there was no cake left. LOL The sorbet was a delicious finish to our dinner and dessert. It was a perfect balance of tart and sweet. Definitely one of our favorite places to eat and would recommend you try it.
