The food was excellent. I had fried mushrooms, fried catfish, sweet potato fries, and fried okra. Everything was hot, crispy and delicious!!! Hubby had fried pickles, and a burger. He said it was good....that's high praise from him. Our waitresses were great! Casey and Courtney were ON IT!!! There were 24 of us! That's difficult for a kitchen and staff. They did fantastic! An eatery which is clearly popular amongst the locals and it surely needs to be :) Friendly service and great food in the town of Bonham. The ambiance is rustic with booths and tables. The meatloaf was authentic and the brown gravy was awesome. The potato skins were cooked perfectly packed with flavors. Service was a winner. My Dad and I came here for his Birthday lunch in BONHAM. He had an earlier appointment at the VA in Bohnam, and Shumardii's is the closest between here and Wylie without going too far off our route. We've passed here a few times on our frequent visits to my Dad's appointments. I've always been interested in going to Shumardii's So it was our first time. Lovely place! The service was great! Brooklyn and Angel took care of my party of 6! I could tell they were on the newer side and I know large parties can be daunting. But they really did a fabulous job! The food is great as always! I got the chicken fried chicken and it always has such a great crunch to it! Stopped on a Sunday afternoon. We had seen lots of cars earlier which encouraged us over the bad reviews. Our server was helpful attentive, friendly, and directed our choices very well. We were seated immediately, and beverages quick. Our food came out hot. The chicken fried chicken with ocra and sweet corn was more than my guy could eat. My wife and I decided to give this place another try. BIG MISTAKE! Walked in- nobody at the front to seat us. Happy hour sign on door was clear 3 dollar pints for happy hour. This is the beginning. Ok, after tracking down someone to seat us- we are on our way! I asked the waitress if they had blue moon in the pint and if not to come back and let me know. She brings back an open bottle of blue moon (took about 10 minutes or longer with 2 tables in the place that had customers. Fail. We placed our orders. My wife ordered grilled chicken dinner plate and I ordered the pulled pork dinner. We ordered a side of fried mushrooms as an app (those were just OK and spongy. Food arrives. Wife's chicken is burned and dry. My pulled pork magically turned into very thick cut sliced brisket. I let the waitress know and she went back to get pulled pork. I am attaching photos of what we got. This will be the last time we waste our money here. So bad neither of us could finish our plates. Even the mac and cheese was so dry you needed to take a drink between bites just to get it down. I added some info on each photo of what we had. Because it was near my hotel I ate at this place six nights in a row. Food is pretty good and it came out fast. The chicken quesadillas are excellent. The salmon was really good on two nights and overcooked two other times. I sat in the bar so I could watch baseball. The bartenders are very friendly, and there are plenty of TVs. My salmon was slightly over grilled but very tasty, the rice was undercooked, sweet potato fries and okra were good. Hubby had catfish, way overcooked, and dry. Coleslaw was decent. Stopped here with a riding group on a Sunday. It's one of the few places in town that was open after 3pm. Service was excellent, place was clean and food for 8 was delivered in a reasonable amount of time. I had the tortilla soup with a side of fried okra. Soup was tasty but the tortillas were put in too soon and were mush by the time the bowl hit the table. Okra was cooked just right. Serval people had the fried or grilled catfish. Finally stopped to try this place out and it was great! Very friendly staff, we got our food fast and it was piping hot (they weren't very busy because it was between lunch and dinner). I had the the catfish which was very tasty and the hush puppies were a little spicy which I really liked. The broccoli was nice and tender but not mushy. My husband had the chicken fried chicken with cream gravy and mashed potatoes. He also had fried okra which he said is the best he's had in a long time. He said his whole meal was excellent. Was driving by on Christmas Day- after meeting a friend for some dog training. We had drive from FtW and had quite a drive left . We ran later then expected and were very hungry. I was driving by and saw it was open so we gave it a try . Sadly they didn't have bone in wings but I got the catfish and my husband the ribeye . Both were fantastic and the side salads more then just some bagged lettuce which I appreciated. Service was terrific and everyone super friendly- like we were regulars rather then first timers. Beautiful place inside and out.. great music , super staff. The fried fish was amazing and that's a lot coming from someone that can through down a great fish fry at home! I'd say the fish was on top three fried fish I have ever had.. everything that was suppose to be piping hot was and items that should be cold were.. the salad was cold and so was the chilled plate it was served in and the sour cream , cheese etc for loaded baked potato was served on chilled plate. The loaded baked potato soup is very good. My sister an I took my dad and he said the meatloaf was real good as well.. I will be back to check out the bar next time!!! I normally don't give 5 star however I couldn't find one reason to score less than. One hour hold on seating despite a practically empty parking lot. Yes, it was Mother's day but if your kitchen can't keep with the 15 or so cars in the parking lot, then you might want to re-evaluate your kitchen staff or go to reservations only for special holidays. Just had the Sunday lunch buffet. No sneeze guard. Is that even legal? The thought of it is disgusting. Salad bar was uninspired. Greens, with no crunchies--no croutons, bacon bits, sunflower seeds--nothing. You have one choice for dressing: ranch. Corn on the cob was soggy enough to be eaten with your teeth out. You might lose them all trying to eat the roast beef. Tough as shoe leather. You might say "it's the best you can get in a hick town" except 12 miles down the road is the Windom Feed Sack, a real hick town with a buffet that will knock your socks off. read more

Salads brought right out, nicely crunchy really cold garden salad with tomato and what appeared to be house made rocquefort / blue cheese dressing , really good. So the husband and I just moved to bonham and I'm pretty much a total foodie. I love food, it is my life and so I'm eager to try EVERYTHING this little town has to offer my belly. Just tried this place and I think the biggest take away is that food is okay enough to come back but, oh my goodness at how much potential this place could have to grow.
