Been here twice now, good both times. The design is cute inside and very "country" style, very fitting. We went for their Valentine's Day specials which we very much enjoyed, it was busy but service was quick and kind. Upon our most recent visit though, i was excited to see signs saying they offered a particular beer that I favor. But, after ordering, the waitress had absolutely no idea what i was even referring to, and then told us they didn't have it. A little strange, considering the signage they had posted. This place is our Sunday afternoon go to! We absolutely love KK. She has such incredible service that she feels like part of our family. She knows exactly what drinks we want and says hello with a bright smile every time we walk in. Their Sunday brunch buffet has the most consistently delicious southern comfort food in DFW! My family had our monthly get together here last Friday evening. I had called a week earlier to make a reservation for February 21st and then because the temps were in the freeze zone and we were all traveling at least an hour to get there we decided it wasn't safe to travel. I called and rescheduled the reservation, in fact I even changed the time twice and they were nothing but kind and courteous every time I called. We finally made it on February 28. Our table for 8 was ready for us. Our waitress, Lauren was a little busy with all of us and got a couple of things confused but otherwise she was quick to fix the issues, and she did a terrific job. Thank you Lauren for making our dining experience great. The food was good. I tend to eat mostly carnivore but decided to include some low carb veggies and a salad to my meal. Every thing was good and there was plenty, although the steak was a little on the thin side, it was tender and done perfectly medium rare. I did taste a few of the appetizers that my family got. One bite of fried zucchini, which was crisp and tasty and one bite of fried tomatoes. Even though the menu says Fried Green Tomatoes, there was a mix of red and green tomatoes which were small like little pebbles and sweet which surprised my tongue. I don't eat sugar so they tasted very very sweet to me, not like the tart green tomatoes that I expected. Not something I would order, but to each his own. We also ended up seated under the only fan with a light right beside it so it had a strobe effect which began to hurt our eyes and give several of us a headache. They very kindly turned off the fans. I am happy to leave this review. Crow's is highly underrated. Lee is a great restaurant owner. He is very picky about fresh, homemade meals. He doesn't cut corners. Everything is good. They might have the best catfish, fried or blackened, anywhere. He does most of the cooking himself, and he's great. His staff is very sweet and happy. The Sunday brunch is so fresh. Breakfast items are made to order. Good pancakes, eggs, bacon, etc. He has fresh fruit, all veggies, excellent gravy, and of course, catfish. We absolutely love Crow's. Great specials too. My son and I stopped in for lunch after practical-driving from Frisco and across East through the winding farm market roads in Celina. We both ordered country fried steak with two sides. I really don't understand the negative ratings...IMO it's down right tasty. We enjoyed ours, completely finishing our servings. Y'all need to stop by the next time you are in Anna. The service is friendly at this restaurant, but you have to wait forever to get anything. They are short staff at this place . Cook wanted sign on door, help wanted before that. The food is mediocre. I noticed an old Chinese cook walking around the back. This is supposed to be a Southwestern style restaurant. Why are they closed Mondays? Anything we got fried was over fried and dark. The French fries are dry and dark. The burgers are dry. I didn't like the cheese whiz they call queso on my Philly cheese steak and the roast beef was overcooked or refried. The Crows Toe, steak fingers have lots of tough grissle. Their pies are not good at all like a pie made with pudding and under cooked meringue on top and they charge $4.99 for a very small slice. Their brown gravy is very salty, Their white country gravy is better. The side salad is fresh. Their coke tasted weird like it was tart or hasn't been serviced by Coke manuf. They don't give you homemade rolls with your dinner unless you ask for it. Served one of our Cheesburgers on a chipped plate. Was served water in a chipped glass before, this is the second time. This restaurant is not going to be on our return list. They need to improve their quality and get new dishes for customers' safety and health sake. Accurate review no exaggerations here. read more

Was really disappointed in the overall experience. I think the waitress may have had too many tops to serve. She wasn't BAD, but it was definitely not a warm, friendly experience. I ordered a veggie plate; fried green tomato chunks (just NO on the sugar!), squash casserole (lactose intolerant), cabbage (absolutely nothing added to this one), and pinto beans (could have been cooked a little longer). To top off this non-remarkable meal, I was looking forward to a lovely piece of coconut pie; however, what I got was a half-slice size of something that had been frozen and the meringue being reduced to the size and consistency of wet toilet paper. When I addressed this with the owner, he told the waitress the piece was too small and to bring out another dessert selection. Pecan pie was the same size with a burned top and dried out consistency. What a great find. Visited for the first time on Sunday and enjoyed their Sunday Brunch buffet. Everything was fresh and delicious on the buffet (chicken fried steak, chicken tenders, pot roast, bbq, Mac & cheese, whipped sweet potatoes, etc plus a salad station, wonderful vegetable soup (similar to a Brunswick Stew) and a wide selection of desserts. The ONLY reason I don't give 5*'s is that since we sat at the bar, we weren't told that the Brunch included pancakes, French Toast, custom omelets and fresh biscuits that you can order from your server. Pretty bummed we only learned in retrospect reading online. But, the Bartender told us it was like her 2nd day so it must just have been a training issue. Nevertheless, will return since we enjoyed what we had - we'll just look forward to trying morenext time. read more

It's been nearly 15 years since my last visit to crows country café. I had several other places I wanted to go, but they were all closed for dinner on Sunday so I decided to drive out to Anna. They had an 8 ounce ribeye and shrimp special for $19.99. Now this wasn't some fancy ribeye (the quality was just okay) but it still taste amazing due to the seasoning in the way they cooked it and it was really juicy too. I liked the shrimp too. But the best part was dessert. They are chocolate chip pie is like a pecan pie but there's no pecans in it and I hate pecans. It was so good. I go back just for pie again. read more

It's a shame I must write this review as I have been here many times in the past for the catfish. I was excited to take my wife to lunch here and spend some time together. We were looking forward to the country style buffet instead of the normal Asian style buffets. We were greeted by the host and asked for the buffet. We were then seated at a booth and then we were forgotten about. We helped ourselves to the buffet as usual but no drinks or service at all. I watched as the teenage wait staff focused more on talking to each other and being on their phones instead of tending to the guest. I barley seen any staff on our side of the restaurant. Except for a teenage guy making a massive plate for himself from behind the buffet (I didn't have an issue with this as employees have to eat also). Tables were left with messes and dishes on them. I can understand if its super busy, but it wasn't busy at all. Just us and 2 other couples. I tried to get one waitress's attention to which my multiple statements of "excuse me ma'am" went ignored. After returning to my table and waiting patiently for our waitress to ask what we would like to drink I then got up and walked to the side with the bar. This is where I discovered all the wait staff were on this side just talking to each other. I asked a younger woman with glasses and tattoos for our own drinks. At this point the young woman then brought out our drinks. As we tried to enjoy our food and what's left of our experience we sat starring at empty drinks. It wasn't until both my wife and I were finished with our food that we were even offered a refill. At the time we received our refill we were so dissatisfied from being ignored that we just asked for our check. When the waitress returned with our check, we were offered to go drinks to which we accepted. My wife's drink was brought out leaking from a large hole in the bottom. My wife was covered in lemonade. We don't understand with such a heavy leak like this why it wasn't even noticed. I managed to laugh about my own to go drink as it was brough out to me barley a quarter of the way full. For some reason I still don't understand the logic behind this as my refill was almost gone. Rather upset with the service at this point, thinking this was intentional disrespect I then walked up to the bar to hand over my receipt with my own note on the horrible service. I explained our issues to the bartender to whom acted like she didn't really care. I placed my to go cup on the bar and she just stared at it. I asked her if this is how to go drinks are sent out and had to ask her to look at the drink. Upon her discovery of a mostly empty to go drink she just replied with, "Oh, I am sorry" That was it. No offer of well let me get you some to go drinks. My wife even pointed out she was covered in lemonade, and all was said is "Well, sorry" For just the 2 of us we paid a little over 40 dollars for the buffet that I was mostly disappointed about. We then called and discussed this with the manager by the name of Lee and requested a full refund. I would NOT recommend eating at this establishment. I hate saying this as I am a local of Anna and have been here many times in the past. I have always ordered fried catfish and have never been disappointed. The only thing worse than the food was the service. Unfortunately, this experience was over the top and will not be returning. read more

Recently located to Texas from Georgia and found this place by accident. Have eaten in the restaurant a couple of times but mostly gotten takeout. The food has been good, exception corn and sometimes the squash casserole which has huge hunks of dry tasting cornbread in it at times. The young people working the front counter could use some training on customer service but could be worse. I had not noticed areas that need cleaning but I will now since reading other reviews. Things like that need to be reported to the health inspectors if the owner/manager doesn't take care of it. I have not tried the buffet. read more

We just moved here and gave this local spot a try. Sadly we were not impressed. The waitresses couldn't decide whose section we should be in (as we stood there). Eventually, one of them took us back to her section and apologized. Ok, awkward but forgivable. My husband and I were in a rush so we didn't order an appetizer. He got a burger and fries and I got a fried chicken sandwich and fries. His burger was overdone and I couldn't even bite into the chicken sandwich because the chicken breast was so tough. We were in the area and stopped in for a late lunch. This is a classic country cafe - exactly what they say they are. Good homestyle food. I ordered chicken fried steak (comes with gravy)I selected fried green tomatoes and mashed potatoes for my sides. The husband ordered fried catfish - his two side selections were fried okra and mashed potatoes with gravy. Both meals came with a small side salad, a basic lettuce-tomato-cheese affair. Tasty and just the right amount. The CFS featured crispy peppery batter. The steak was fork-tender. The catfish fillets were incredibly meaty, with a crisp cornmeal crust. The mashed potatoes were lumpy (like I like them) and came with a peppery country (white) gravy. The okra was wonderful, too. The fried green tomatoes came in small bite-sized pieces rather than the slices I'm accustomed to. They were also sweet - almost like a fried candied tomato. This was a huge surprise because the flavor profile was dramatically different than what I normally experience with fried green tomatoes. You will either like these or you won't - I doubt there's middle ground for people. We both ordered a draft beer which was a ridiculously good value. A 16oz (short) was just $2.50 while a 24oz (tall) was $3.25. There were 4 beers on tap but one was Ziegen Bock, so this deal was a great deal indeed. We also got a piece of pie - just $2.25 a slice meant we were able to try both the coconut meringue and the chocolate meringue. The meringue was tasty but not super fluffy. The chocolate was incredibly dense (not a pudding pie!) - gold stars! The coconut was equally tasty. All in all this was a very worthwhile trip and since it's just 30 min north of Plano, we'll be back. And when we come back we're definitely getting the okra and catfish again, along with more tasty beer. read more
