If you like locally owned authentic country cooking with solidly friendly service, you'll like Frank's. We were staying in the area for Lake Texoma fun and concert at Winstar. We went for lunch one day and back for breakfast the next. The portions were generous and the food was delicious. If you are looking for sophistication or gourmet, you might go back to Dallas. Frank's reminded me of small town diners I've known all my life. Their key lime pie and peach cobbler were fabulous. read more

The place was packed, service was fairly quick. CFS tenders were way over breaded and slightly under cooked. Where the breading touches the meat, the breading was still slightly doughy. Outside of the breading looked perfect, meat within was cooked well and good cuts of meat. The fries were similar to Watsons, only not cooked long enough, few had any crunch at all, most were soft and undercooked w/ less salt than what one would get at Watsons. Taste on everything was on point though, once you pulled half the breading off the fingers. No bad grease smell or taste on the food at all. My co-workers had the cheeseburger & fries. The fries were the same as mine, undercooked, but the burgers looked awesome and given a 9.8 & 9.5 out of 10. For the price it's not a bad place to eat, though 12:15 on a Wednesday is probably not the best time to go. I'm hoping this was a one off on the finger & fries, but I'll give it another go and update later. read more

I truly enjoyed this country style diner in Texas! The catfish plate was amazing w my selected choice of tater tots and fried okra for sides. The cornmeal on the catfish was so crispy and light that it was so tasty with the perfect pinch of salt. The poblano cheese burger substituted with a thick slice of cheddar was simply delectable with a wonderfully cooked thick beef patty on a flat top grill. Their coleslaw... Mmmm---loved every bite because of its crunchy freshness. Truly appreciate the clean and simple ambiance and food served w thoughtful care. This place is one of my favorite places to grabs breakfast and/or lunch when I'm camping at Eisenhower some days. Good old-fashioned thoughtfully-made food served by the nicest people. I almost always get the chicken fried steak for either breakfast or lunch, and it's amazing. My friends have loved the items they've ordered too. Must arrive an hour before closing in hopes to find them open? I've tried 3 times during operating hours to find they're closed 2 of the times. One time they were open but it was 40 minutes until "close" and no one could be seen when we walked in. After looking around and seeing no patrons and no staff we left. I go to Frank's whenever I visit my daughter in Pottsboro. The staff is friendly, the space is immaculate and the food is great. Now it's nothing fancy; just tasty, filling food served with a smile. I have sampled their burgers, fried catfish, onion rings, fried okra, chicken fried steak and coconut pie.....not at the same visit. And all were delicious. I did not experience anything overcooked as another poster mentioned. Occasionally they will run out of something, which is a bummer when your heart and tummy are set on it. If you leave here hungry, you must have a tapeworm, because the portions are beyond generous. They also have kids/seniors options for smaller appetites. All this yumminess, and kind to your wallet. We went on a Saturday around 9:00, parking lot was pretty full. We found a table immediately and were greeted within a couple minutes by our friendly waitress. I ordered the chicken and waffles that was described as being served with maple syrup for $9.99, my grandtwins ordered the pancake (2) breakfast, and waffle (1) breakfast- both with hashbrowns, 2 eggs and sausage or bacon, each for $9.99. (Or only $4.99 without the sides.) Food was good, service was great, the establishment was very clean (granddaughter was quick to point out they had the "cleanest bathrooms she'd ever seen") ONLY ISSUE: The syrup is high fructose corn syrup, NOT the stated maple syrup mentioned on the menu. (Corn syrups tend to cause stomach issues for me and the grands- my grandson and I paid the price later that day) All in all- I'd be happy to go back, knowing more and being better prepared. read more

Stopped here coming bk from the lake for lunch. First, the waitret, the red headed lady, just perfect. Got my drink pronto and when the food came up, she was there to deliver pronto and came bk to check on me. First class The food is good diner chow. I had the Big Country that came with a nice side salad. Entree was chicken fried steak on top of Texas Toast, topped with what seemed to be a cheesy cream gravy with hand cut fries, grilled purple onions, and diced bacon. The steak was a real cut of meat with only 2 chewy bites. Great for CFS. The toppings, oddly enuf, all worked together. Burgers at adjacent tables looked good as well as the pie (I was wayyyyy too full to try the pie but next time....it's gonna happen. A clean restaurant, in and out, 30 minutes max, great service with a smile(!), and better than average diner chow. What more could you ask for? read more

I really like the food and service here. It is easy to get to, lots of parking. Step inside, find a place and sit down. They will take your order and have it out shortly. The chicken fried steak, steak fingers and burgers are among my favorites. After I had been there a few times, the waitress remembered what I was drinking. You will see a lot of people who are in there on a regular basis, they are always friendly too. If the cook sees you at the checkout counter, he will ask if everything was good. When you pay out, use cash and get a discount. They have a Senior Citizen discount also, but you can only get one discount and they are both the same amount. read more

This is a family restaurant. We were staying in the Highport Marina area in a rented cottage. We were looking for breakfast, and saw Franks. The food was excellent, and the coffee was very good. The restaurant was VERY clean. The staff was very friendly. It is the poster child for small town diner. Which is a positive. But now the food did not stand up to the great ambiance. The chicken fried chicken was way over cooked. It was like eating leather. My wife got chicken tenders and again so over cooked. It is obvious the food is homemade. The mash potatoes was homemade and very good. But the cream gravy was bland. Onion ring was also cooked in to high temp as well as the chicken. I always try promoting local businesses first. When Franks first opened it was a great spot with great food. Unfortunately, as time has passed, both the service and the food have fallen off. I've gone back multiple times in hopes that things would change. No luck so far. I hesitate to say anything more because I really hope and pray that they find a way to overcome the issues that plague so many businesses today.
