Had the pleasure of having breakfast this morning at 1836 Cafe In Bells TX. if you're ever between Bonham and Sherman you have to stop here and eat!!! One of the best Chicken Fried Steaks I've ever had. The sausage gravy made it super rich and flavorful. We got a Pecan Cinnamon Roll to go and had it for an evening snack. Breakfast and lunch all week and Dinner on Thursday and Friday. Great service, great people, and great food!! Check them out!!

Best Burger and chips around! Free mimosa on the weekends! Small quaint country living and serving owners! Breakfast is good too, but I'm in love with their burgers! Support your local businesses, because they give back locally!

Decided to take stroll to find this gem. Simple menu and delicious. I got the chicken and waffles with a side of flapjacks. It came with a choice of sausage or bacon. The sausage was delicious. The flapjacks were fantastic. The waitress is here was definitely hospitable. Nice to see kind people showing that southern hospitality. Definitely will be back to try the burgers.

    THE BETTY

I first met the owners of 1836 when I started working at The Loft Pizza Pub. I had already heard wonderful things about the Cafe's food & people prior & after talks with them it's obvious the love they poor into their business as a whole. Their quaint Cafe is welcoming & filled with the most delicious smells of homemade food. I have honestly never read the menu so when I called in my 1st order I asked for the Chef's favorite breakfast item...THE BETTY & it did NOT disappoint. Some of the best fried potatoes I've had. Biscuits, eggs, sausage & gravy cooked to absolute perfection My goal is to try everything on the menu now! Get over to FB & give them a follow!!

The Austin omelette with bacon and toast with skillet potatoes.

Had breakfast for lunch there today 11/2/24. We had The Austin and the 1/2/3 egg plate. Service was friendly and prompt. Food came out quickly and just as we ordered. Took a cinnamon roll home they are HUGE.

Today I needed to stop in somewhere and wait for a locksmith and had 3 hours to kill. I found this lunch spot in Bells and if you don't know... there's not a ton to choose from! However, as soon as I walked in I was greeted with friendly hello's and the smell of the grill firing up. I got the chicken sandwich, which sounds basic, but it was absolutely not. Soooo amazing. Fries were seasoned and perfect. At the end they brought me a homemade chocolate chip cookie that was equally as good as everything else I tried. I'll absolutely be back and hopefully take advantage of complementary mimosas on the weekends! Definitely a Bells gem.

We had a reservation, which is recommended because the restaurant was very busy on a Saturday night in May. We opted to sit on the patio because the weather was gorgeous. I am not sure if the patio is climate controlled in the summer or not. But on that night we were there, the weather was mild so it was very pleasant. They have happy hour on Saturdays so I started with an IPA on tap and the wife had a Prosecco, also for happy hour prices. This is a tapas restaurant so I will try to remember all that we had. Manchego cheese board: excellent. The crisps and jam were perfect with the cheese. Potato torilla: excellent. The flavors melded very well and it was very tasty. It's filling so keep that in mind. Ceviche de jalapeno: excellent. Not too spicy, the shrimp and seafood was fresh with no fishy smell. The plantains were cooked perfectly, not greasy. Brisket on crostini: excellent. Forget the name but they are a winner. Brisket is good quality and the flavors come together nicely. Chicken skewer: excellent. They smartly use chicken thighs so the meat is juicy and tender. Tuna tartare: good. It actually was my least favorite. The quality was very good but it did not have much flavor. I needed some heat, some acid, something to give it a kick. We were absolutely stuffed and did not try dessert. Our server Marcellus was excellent. Very helpful and pleasant throughout. He never disappeared for too long. Overall, we had a great meal and will undoubtedly return here again.

We arrived early and grabbed pre-dinner cocktails on the patio, which honestly set the tone for the evening. The fire pit tables + evening atmosphere were perfect. We kept it classic with Old Fashioneds and martinis, and both were very well executed. Simple, balanced, and clearly made by someone who knows what they're doing. There was also a blueberry graham cracker cocktail (can't remember the name, unfortunately) that was surprisingly delicious and easily could've been dessert in a glass. The tasting itself was an 8-course menu and absolutely incredible. Since this was a one-night pop-up, I won't go into detail on the food, but every course was thoughtful, creative, and genuinely delicious. One of those meals where you're excited for the next plate the second the last one's cleared. Service really stood out. The team was attentive without hovering, cleaned up seamlessly between courses, and made sure our drinks were never empty. They also offered solid wine pairings that complemented the menu really well and elevated the experience overall. One extra thing that really sealed it for me: after dinner, the second chef Taylor and the owner/manager Tanner came over and hung out with us for a bit. As someone who's a bit of a foodie nerd, I genuinely appreciate when chefs and operators take the time to talk food, concepts, and the thought behind the menu. It made the experience feel personal and intentional, not just transactional. If this pop-up is any indication of what Rye is capable of, it's definitely a place worth returning to. Great atmosphere, great drinks, and a team that clearly cares about the experience. Would absolutely come back.

You'll find other such fancy words on the Rye menu. I'm warming you up. I'm personally restaurant illiterate, so wasn't this place's target audience. And it didn't help that my fiancée and I had just come from Four Day Weekend Improv down the street, so I was preoccupied with questioning whether I could make 200 people laugh on command like they did. My fiancée, on the other hand, IS restaurant literate. And she loved it here. While my reaction to the "Icelandic Hotdog" on the menu was to groan, she got excited at the prospect of a bitesized piece of foreign sausage. When my cocktail came out with an 8" inch ice rectangular prism in it, I was more excited about whipping it around the glass than I was about drinking it. My fiancée commented on the "notes of parsley." Regardless, Rye is great. Lower Greenville needed a fine dining experience that appeals to foodies and cocktail lovers, and Rye is that place. Great service and decor too, truly a well run restaurant.
