Where do I start? Well if you're into vanishing vintage burger joints that have been around for decades,serve a solid burger, outrageously spot-on hand-punched fries and old-school milkshakes.... Go! It was such a treat stumbling onto this piece of history just off Main Street. I was hanging with my little 8th-generation Texans, seeking out areas not yet conquered by "New"! They still have " curb service" here. Yes car hops on a 100-degree summer day! Priceless. Quite a few people are taking advantage of that service too. We chose to go inside and we were greeted by a huge smile and a quick ordering process The inside dining area is small but packed with interesting people from the area The kinda place they call your name when your order is ready, because you're part of the fabric of Dennison's community. We sampled the chocolate and vanilla shakes; both were worth the drive from Dallas. Then my perennial fave, the real fries! Hand-cut on site and fried to perfection. I mean, anyone who appreciates them knows, it's hard to achieve that perfect golden, crunchy exterior and soft, creamy middle. They do! This place is priceless. A true old fashioned drive in, you can either order from the parking area and eat in your car or order at the counter and sit at one of about 6 tables inside. The whole setup seems very "original" (as in older and worn in). I had the cheeseburger, fries, and a Diet Dr. Pepper (the only diet option available, because Texas!). I enjoyed the food. The fries were thick cut but crispy and came in a huge portion; the cheeseburger wasn't too greasy and had a good amount of toppings. Getting your order was a bit odd, as everything came out of order and we had to check on some missing items, but we ultimately got everything. There are no bathrooms at this establishment. read more

Watson's is a unique place. 70 years in the business this year, passed down through generations. Not many restaurants can hold that title! No other restaurant in Grayson county holds the title for oldest restaurant except for Watson's. That's saying something. The burgers are hot every time. The fries are fresh cut daily. The shakes are hand spun and the onion rings are made fresh, not from frozen. You just can't get hot food that is cooked to order most places anymore. It's also a fun place to go because it's truly a transportation back to the 1950s when the place was established. Service is quick and to the point. I highly recommend Watson's and have never found another burger I have enjoyed more. It's my favorite. read more

I've had a good burger and fries but once I came here I was like no this is the BEST. The burger was delicious! The onion rings were good and nice size. Service was fast even though it was busy.

We were checking out nearby downtown Denison and some of the historical sites nearby when the Watsons Hamburgers sign spoke to our grumbling stomachs. We didn't realize it was an 'old-timey' drive-in when we were walking up, and were relived to see that they had seating indoors. There are about 6 tables that seat about 4 people each inside, not much room if they get busy. They also have a sign posted that there is no public restroom. The portions here are pretty large and definitely filling. I ordered a double cheeseburger, I added another slice of cheese because it normally only comes with one slice. For my side I got a large order of tater tots. The total for 2 burgers, 2 large sides, and 2 large drinks plus tip came to around $20. This place seemed pretty popular as our table was the only one open when we got there and a line formed once we ordered and sat. It's really nice to see spots like this still thriving with so many other fast food chains around. read more

I am sticking with 4 stars. Management needs to learn how to order product. This is a wonderful local place and should consistently have everything thats on the menu. I would be happy to come teach ordering techniques and how to use build ups to always be in stock. When its there it is good, when you keep running out you are telling your customers you are too busy. Service is friendly, some servers more than others, the wait time is expected because everything is cooked to order = Fresh and hot. Onion rings are to die for. Apple turn overs are perfect size and old school tasty. Really! Now just get that staying in stock thing down and you will see me there at least twice a week! We were in town visiting and our hotel breakfast was not good. So we decided to try something new. We decided to give Watson's a try, and I'm so glad we did. I had a breakfast sandwich and hash browns. The sandwich was on a hamburger roll and I'm glad it did because that gave me more to eat and enjoy. It was fresh and perfect. I could of eaten another one. The hash browns were fresh and yummy! The breakfast burrito was huge! Filled with yummy eggs and bacon and hash browns! Yummy!! The epitome of small town, USA. I came to Denison for a softball tournament, so naturally I decided to venture out to find local places to eat. After a quick Yelp search, I found Watsons. This place is LEGIT. I ordered a cheeseburger meal, steak finger meal, and an apple turnover, just to be able to try a few things. Everything I had was amazing and the staff was just what you'd expect from a classic drive-in. Very attentive, nice, and welcoming. The food was so good, I ended up eating there a few times during my three day stay. Would definitely recommend, even if you're just passing through. read more

I'm not from this area and was in town for a camping trip. We decided to grab some food close by and this was right by the downtown area. It has drive ups to order food (like Sonics), but we decided to eat in. There isn't much room for groups inside the place, it's pretty cozy. You go up to the counter to order your food. The price is reasonable. I had a cheeseburger and homemade onion rings. This was a plus and very good. It's rare to find homemade onion rings. They aren't real thick with batter and was flavorful. The burger wasn't too greasy for being homemade also. I'm glad I stopped at this spot. I left satisfied and full with my meal. There were also milkshakes and ice cream, but I didn't get a chance to have any with being full. I will note there was no public restrooms. Area is not too far from downtown so you can enjoy a stroll after your meal. read more

Disappointed. Ordered the Porky Burger which is described on the menu as being a THICK patty, but it was thinner than ¼". If you want a full meal order an extra patty. Flavor was very good though. Fries scream for salt and a change of the oil. read more

I've been a fan of Watson's Drive-In for years. It's not too many place that you can actually get a "freeze"! They definitely do not skimp on their fries or their fixins on their burgers. We can manage to eat there (and splurge with shakes, etc.) and still manage to spend less than $20.00! What could be better?!?! read more

Drove up at exactly 5:40pm, they close at 6. Ordered onion rings, lady said, "no, I can't make them now, we close at 6." Ok, that's in 20 min, whatever. We will order fries. So I order a large fry. Lady says, "no, I only have small." So, ok, make it 2 small fries then. She responds, "no, I can't do that, we close at 6." So we told her to forget it, we'd go elsewhere. I don't think they should shut down a full 20 min prior to closing. If that's the case, close at 530!! This was our first, and absolutely the LAST experience with Watson's Drive In. We'd love to keep things local and keep downtown alive, but not with service like this, we will just go to a chain instead. read more

Tried this place out for lunch and taste and speed of service was great. I had a cheeseburger with tots and an iced tea. Cheeseburger portion was just right and the meat and cheese were perfectly melted. Would have loved if the onions were grilled but just my preference. The tots were hot but the portion size was somewhat small. Iced tea was cold and had a great taste (not too watery). I would definitely come back! read more

Best burger I've had in a long time. Staff was very friendly. We even saw Mr. Watson leaving and saying hi to us. I was amazed how CHEAP this place is!
