People have many problems and they love to take it out on Costco. This Costco warehouse serves its purpose effectively if you visit to purchase goods. Not to kindly chat with employees, not to prance around the store aimlessly, not to proselytize your religion. Bring a list and get the job done. There is truly not much to say -- many Costco locations are more or less the same. Those who enter without strategy are those who lose: know which products are better or more cost-effective from Costco, and know which products are better or more cost-effective from the Market Basket across I-95. As far as selection goes, the Costco usually carries Teddie Peanut Butter (smooth only) and many East Asian products, but you will not find Fage yogurt. The list could go on, but as inventory constantly changes it is a waste of my time and yours to attempt to catalogue the inventory. I have not had negative experiences from this store, apart from a single rotisserie chicken that was absolutely foul. Come in with a strategy and you will be fine. read more

Bought hearing aids 5/24 was hesitant but i heard the price was much less than i had paiid for my original ones so I needed new ones. Have not been disappointed. they were half the cost of what I paid previously and the customer service is great. I'd give them a 4/4.5. What they do well, they do really well, but there's always room for improvement. Pros: Excellent return policy. Nice selection. Quality items. Friendly, knowledgeable employees. Many employees have been with the company for years and will recognize their long term/ frequent shoppers making for a personalized feel. No coupon clipping. Better than average prices on most items. Offer vaccinations, significantly better pharmacy prices, hearing and eyeglass center. High quality store brand items. In club liquor store, has excellent prices. The food court is an excellent value. Some locations have tire centers, but prices are so so. Some locations offer gas. Many freshly prepared family size meals. Have many organic offerings. Cons: Prices on some items have jumped significantly. Most locations don't offer gas. Not enough locations. Food court has a small menu and needs healthier options as well as coffee/ iced coffee. Memberships can be pricey, but come with many perks not mentioned. Limited pay options. No deli. More car care services would be nice. No longer carry coffee filters. Downgraded from containers to ziploc bags for many items, but the ziploc fails quickly or don't work at all. Store brand bagged items often don't have ziplocks. Seasonal items are out ridiculously early, limiting room for current season items and everyday offerings. Sale items may be moved to unintuitive locations. Long return lines. Cart returns are often overflowing and need to be retrieved more often. Most of the changes they've made feel more beneficial to the company than the customer. read more

I am not a Costco member. I ordered two chairs that were on sale during MA tax free weekend and paid the non member surcharge. I received a confirmation email immediately. . Two days later my ordered was canceled by a second email. I called them. An expired Costco member number was somehow attached to my order. And even though I paid the non member surcharge, their computer system canceled my order because of this.After 40 minutes on the phone, they said if I reordered they would refund the additional amount I would now have to pay if I called them after delivery of the chairs. They offered me a $20 card for a future item for the inconvenience. The woman on the phone was very nice, but I did not want to have to call again and waste more time to get my money back. Went to the food court and I'm hard of hearing, waiting for my food for so long and then when someone says an order number I can actually hear it's past mine. At this point I'm like ok whatever so I go to the counter and the employee, Erin, continuously calls out orders walks past and ignores me for at least five minutes and when I finally do catch his attention he says with a very big attitude "I called that like a long time ago." OKAY?? HOW LONG DO YOU THINK IVE BEEN WAITING?? The food was good but his attitude was ATROCIOUS and very condescending, I work in customer service and know this is NOT how you treat ANY customer. Customer service has gone down, way down. Optical Dept staff sit in chairs & act as if you're interrupting them. Cashiers don't even say hello or thank you, nothing. Parking lot is a joke and patrons are ignorant. Find another Costco as this one is one of the worst. Most of them have employees now that hate their jobs and take it out on customers. What about go get another job? If you don't like to be in retail as an employee, don't. Expect that it is fast paced and it's all about customer service. read more

I got all excited to see the new small box for the hearing aid batteries. It beats the old way with the large sheets. Very handy when you travel a lot. Until ..... I opened the box and took one package out. Whoever designed this must have been completely nuts. You can only open the package with scissors! How many customers have regular scissors with them while shopping or being in a restaurant when suddenly your battery give up and you have to replace it? And even with scissors it is a pain to get it open. I suggest all assistants in the Ophthalmology departments should open a package and time how long it takes you. read more

The main attraction of this Costco is the enormous covered parking garage which is nice on a rainy day, but therein lies its main disadvantage: if you park there or in the small uncovered lower level parking area right in front of the garage, in order to get your groceries back to your car you have to push your shopping cart down a wrap-around ramp that pretty much triples the total distance traveled, because Costco does not offer an elevator or shopping cart escalator like Ikea or the Saugus Walmart does. This isn't a problem for any relatively healthy, able bodied person but for an elderly or otherwise physically challenged person it could potentially be a serious PITA. Speaking of shopping carts, another quirk of this place is that you have to pick up one from one of the shopping cart stalls in the parking lot because they don't have rows of carts inside or next to the entrance unlike the Everett Costco. Compared to the Everett Costco, this Waltham location is about 1/2 or at best, 2/3 the size, with maybe half as many checkout lanes. Feels cramped and somewhat claustrophobic, especially during crowded times. Another inconvenient difference is that the alcohol is sold in a small separate area behind the checkout area...so you'd have to check out twice. Lastly, the freeway exit and entrance is a bit difficult to navigate even when using Google Maps GPS. Will be sticking to Everett location, unless it's absolutely pouring outside perhaps. read more

I'm currently in Boston due to my mother-in-law's surgery. While visiting, since my in-laws are elderly and can't lift heavy items, I went with my father-in-law to the Costco in Waltham to buy a 6-pack of 1-gallon water bottles, among other things. We purchased three boxes, but at the cashier, we noticed one box was wet because one of the bottles inside was defective and leaking. An employee offered to exchange it, but the cashier, named Stephen, curtly told me there was no need for that since the transaction was already processed and instructed me to come back with it. I was perfectly capable of going back to exchange it myself, but his attitude--speaking in an irritated, gruff, and unclear tone--was unacceptable. I've been to many Costco locations, but this is the first time I've encountered such an unfriendly cashier. Looking at other reviews, there are also complaints about poor inventory management and other issues. For whatever reason, I believe Costco management needs to seriously address these problems and provide better training to their staff. read more

Some folks that work there are great The Pharmacy people lie I was there 6 times today and 4 yesterday including calling them as well as the insurance company calling them and the Doctor. Finally got prescriptions except 1 told in couldn't be filled till Monday I was supposed to be out of state today for 2 weeks I'll have the Doc sent it there on Monday. No reason according to Doc and insurance co to give it to me yesterday. One of the supervisors is very rude. Also, they make it seem like the membership is easy to cancel. It isn't. If you live far away, don't bother getting one. Prices aren't even that good at all. My parents used to have a Costco membership, and I wasn't informed that the card was cancelled, so I went to buy a few items and had to renew my membership. That's all fine and makes sense. But I wanted to cancel it because I went for a few items, and didn't need to pay $120 a year for a membership, so I looked online to see how I could cancel. Everything said you can call or go online to cancel. That wasn't an option, so I had to go into the store to cancel. I figured while I was there I'd grab TWO items to save me a trip to another store. After I got my items and paid for them, I went to the line (which is behind the checkout anyway) to cancel my membership. I walked up to an Indian woman who was very sweet! But then the supervisor (Matthew maybe?) instantly butted in and was incredibly rude. He asked why I was canceling and I said it was a little far from me and too busy. He told me that usually people aren't allowed to cancel memberships after buying something. Kinda makes sense but the way he said it was very passive aggressive. He then said "why didn't you ever take a picture?" So I explained it was my moms account that I paid to renew and he said she has to come in and cancel. The convenience of the location is where the positives end. This location probably limited by the awkward spot on a side street next to 95S is smaller than other Costco locations and sadly no gas station either. Often times when my family lived closer to here we elected to go to the Everett location instead. As other customers and reviewers have mentioned there are certain members of the staff that are especially rude regarding membership... The lines also easily pile up fast at the checkout so you're left with waiting forever or possibly using the self checkout. The other locations may have more room for more checkout counters so this process goes faster. We no longer have a membership. read more

I've had a mixed experience at Costco. While the store offers a diverse range of products, there have been recurring issues during checkout. Some cashiers, unfortunately, displayed inappropriate behavior, making the overall experience less enjoyable. There was visible attitude to the Asia customer right in front of me. Whenever I come with my brother, they try to put everything in one account while we both have our own membership. Solid Costco. If you're reading this review I'm assuming you're considering going to this one, if you have a membership you've been to a Costco before so you know how it works. Nothing unusual here. We come here almost every weekend for errands, groceries, etc. Got our tires serviced here a few times at the tire center. Never had any bad experiences here. Employees and customer service people are all nice. Pros compared to other Costcos: this one has a covered parking garage. Cons compared to other Costcos: a little on the smaller side but not by much, also there's no Costco gas (but in the northeast this is a bit rare to begin with). read more

Have cancelled Costco membership due to an issue with online purchase. Short version, one of our kids moved to a new apt, we purchased some items to help furnish it. Order was canceled twice without explanation was finally told that Costco will not deliver to a recipient they cannot independently verify. Apparently they use postal records to do this which for a new resident can take up to 60 days. There is no mention of this anywhere on their website, between this and the experience in Waltham my brief membership is over...I've had enough. read more

Costco, you are a magical place!!  This is your place to get things in BULK for insanely CHEAP prices. $3.99 for 2 POUNDS of strawberries? $2.99 for a pack of 40 water bottles? That's it, game over-- this place already won my heart. You can literally find everything you need (and things you didn't know you needed):  snacks, meat and seafood, frozen foods, home necessities, clothes, books,  medications, appliances--you name it. This can be your one-stop place for everything you need to survive. And the best part is you save time and money because buying everything in large quantity will last you a while before you need another trip to the store. Also another equally great part of Costco is their food court!! You can't come here and NOT stop by to get something off the menu. They sell pizza, churros, salads, sausages, hotdogs, non-fat yogurt shakes, and so much more. And in true Costco fashion, everything is super cheap. I got a hotdog and a refillable drink all for just $1.50.  I bet you can't name anything better that you can get for that price. Perfect for a pre-or post-shopping snack/meal! read more

COSTCO LIQUOR SHOP IN WALTHAM One of the few Costco-owned liquor shops in MA. Ownership of multiple liquor stores is limited by MA law, so some Costco's have outside vendors who actually own the liquor shops at Costco, and so the prices are not as good. This is one of the exceptions that Costco actually owns, and supposedly their 2nd biggest shop in sales in the US. And Costco is the biggest wine buyer in the US. So you can usually count on as much as ~25% off of the very best price in MA for a particular wine/beer/liquor. In fact, I've saved as much as 50% off when I was lucky to get the last bottles of something after they marked it down to make room for new stock (look in the bottom of the bins!). Unfortunately, the wine buyer who was there before 2010 or so left and his replacement(s) doesn't seem to be very serious about getting in anything unusual. You used to be able to get some interesting stuff here, like newly released classified Bordeaux, or a case of the legendary 1997 Sam Adams Triple Bock. There was even an email list alerting his best customers to limited availability items. Not anymore. I had to laugh today when they appeared to think they were selling the 99 point Wine Spectator 2014 Wine of the Year (usually priced at $220) for $16.99. It was actually a lesser 90 point bottling, but still a good price for what it was (pic). So if you are looking for big name, big production items at great prices, this a good place to come. But it doesn't replace Gordon's, Marty's, ect. if you are serious about wine. read more

I am definitely a long-time fan of Costco!! Most of everything you need can be most here. From rotisserie chicken, spinach artichoke dip, fresh bakery items, storage bins, baby wipes, even alcohol... it's mostly here. However, this particular Costco is smaller than those I am used to in Michigan, with less produce/products/merchandise available. One of my favorite items (bacon-wrapped scallops) is not sold here, yet was always available in Michigan?? But I digress. There is no gas station at this location, which is a big loss to consumers. read more

food court staff constantly annoyed with every special request. by the exception of like 3 workers at the food court, all of them have an attitude and make you uncomfortable if you make a special request. once to the point she made me say sorry to her. some just blatantly don't listen, and just today one employee was making my two latte freezes and it wasn't working, so she stuck her finger (unchanged glove) into the spout of the machine to make it work. i'm attaching photos of what the coffees looked like to. they were so hard we had to wait for them to melt. they melted to halfway. took a few hours to finally get to drink it. i'm spending $3 per coffee, i shouldn't be getting half a filled cup that had someone's dirty glove in it. this review is solely about the food court. there's a lot to say about the rest of the store. read more

I really like Costco for bulk food shopping at a great price. The employees seem to stay for long periods of time which tells me they treat the employees well. The store is well kept and clean and the food quality is very good. I also like the optical department, tires, liquor store and food court. I love the hot dog and soda for $1.50 I always ask for sauerkraut and then put fresh diced onions, deli mustard and relish. OMG, soooooo good! I also often get the whole pizza. Extra large Cheese, pepperoni or everything for $9.95 each. Overall, Costco is a great place to shop!! read more

AHI POKE AND SPICY TUNA LOVERS ATTENTION Some shoppers mention lack of parking, and stalls are tight. Actually there's lots more parking under the store and if your not looking for it, it's easy to miss. However that being said. This is the only Costco that I know of in Massachusetts that can make a killer Ahi Poke and Spicy Tuna. And that's saying a lot considering I lived in Hawaii my entire life "Poke Capital" The down side of this, it's only offered 8 times a year. So poke lovers look for the big sign just above the meats in the meat section. That reads SEAFOOD ROADSHOW and dates will be posted. You won't be disappointed that's a guarantee read more

Decided that service at Dealership was only $30 more than what I paid at the tire shop for 1 tire and installation, and I was warm and comfortable during the wait time. That was not my experience here. I found the wait time was extraordinarily long and the workers (except from front end sales) slow moving. There is no priority of work flow. It's just first come first serve, regardless of the complexity of the job. Not worth the savings to waste my time (3 times I tried to get the tire I purchased prior to, installed.) Overall Costco membership is no longer adding value. Prices have gone way up on eggs and fruit; the optical department staff doesn't seem to want to be there, and the transitional lenses don't last and start to discolor. read more

Horrible cashiers.I've been going to this Costco for about 1 year now and the cashiers are alll rude. They do not speak to you but they grab all your food and throw it around as if it's cheap. I expect more from a large company such as Costco. I expect to be greeted with a hey how are you and a thanks for shopping with us. Instead the guy at the door wanted us to prove we were members but all the other ppl got to just walk inside. Please implement diversity training for your employees. This is the 5th or 6th time my husband and I had to endure racist customer service and it's unacceptable. We deserve the same treatment as everyone else. read more
