I bought a gift with my credit card. The manager on Dec. 13, 2023 told me I could put the items on my TJ Maxx credit card to get the points, using just my receipt and the credit card I used and my TJ Maxx credit card.  The cashier on Dec. 13, 2023 then told me the manager's name. I wrote it on the receipt. I came on Dec. 26, 2023 with the receipt and both cards. I stood in a line for 40 minutes. Two separate managers told me "if you don't have the items, you can't switch to another form of payment" and "we don't have a manager by that name." I even told them I couldn't get here sooner before I gave the gift because I was accompanying my wife who was in the hospital for weeks on end. They said, "That's our policy." Every other store just asks for your social security number if you don't have your card and this allows you to make a purchase with your store credit card.  I strongly recommend not shopping at TJ Maxx on Middlesex Avenue in Somerville. read more

I am a big fan of Homegoods. I've visited all the local ones in the area. This is one of the larger ones and is chock full of amazing home decor. Recently purchased a 1700 square foot home and have a lot of space to fill so homegoods is essential. This is probably the largest one in the zone I am close to and therefore the one I go to quite often even though its further away than others. Picked up such nice pieces and able to deck out my place for quite a discount compared to places like Bernie and Phyls, Bob's Discount and Jordan's where the decor is absurdly overpriced. Cant recommend this place enough to anyone looking for good deals on nice decor. read more

This has to be one of the most, if not, the most disorganized and poorly managed TJmaxx-Homegoods in this region of Boston. I live in the area and have visited this location since it opened. I absolutely avoid the store when I can. The store management has always been rude and unfriendly towards customers. Past experiences...the store manager making a rude remark to another employee, about me, right in front of me, regarding my furniture purchase as I asked for assistance to the car. A cashier complaining to me, the customer, about other customers. On several occasions throughout the years, waiting 20+ mins in the checkout line. Everyone who works at this location is as slow as molasses. The store itself is a cluster between loads of customers and merchandise all over the place. Don't come to this location looking for higher end items. There is a lot of random stuff and is very hit or miss. If you can take the drive, do yourself a favor and go to Natick or Bedford locations. Holy Homegoods! I love this store. I find a ton of stuff here, I like to browse and sometimes I'm luckier than others. It all depends on how hard I'm looking, and how long it's been since the last time I've shopped there - I can usually come away with at least two things I want. I always have to talk myself out of buying EVERYTHING in the kitchen stuffs section. It's sooo hard for me to hold back. I like the clearance asile, it makes me think harder about what I really need, and what I really WANT. Usually it's a wanting issue, not much more. The people who work here are really helpful and know where everything is! If only I had space to put stuff in my apartment. If only. I vow to never get a TJMAXX credit card, cause with the things I see that I would buy if I had the cash... I'd be in a sad sad bad place. read more

The current manager on 8.10.17 during the afternoon shift is super rude! She knows who she is. This is a great location but the items are not that great. The shelves are messy at skincare area, clothes hardly have any, jewelry case items are messy. So previously, I bought a watch at the tj max location on Newbury, mass Ave. it was such a great deal and good quality. Therefore, I went to this location to see if they have any other colors left. Indeed they do exactly the color I want. However, the band of the watch is so wrinkled up that you can automatically tell it is a returned item and not only wore 3 times but was worn more than 10 times. It is just too unacceptable and I immediately don't want it. I will not pay a $200 watch that's so wrinkled and bulged on the soft leather wrist band. The associate was nice though she called her manager to come over and see if she can give me a lower value. I didn't even care for that watch anymore but was helping my husband choose his watch. The manager came over, just looked at me and said no she can't give me a discount on the watch. I really don't care for the discount because I'm not planning to buy a low quality item that's costs almost $200. Gave this place a 1 star from reading previous reviews as well and I felt so discriminated because she just looked at what ethnic group I am and said NO. She didn't even care about looking at the watch band. Good luck on selling that item because at the other store I got a really great deal on it that was half the price less. Stock up the shelves, hire a new manager instead of this tiger women that will roar at you anytime. This whole store needs better organization. Also, my husband bought a Movado watch. I can't believe TJX hired her to be manager instead of someone that graduated from fashion school that kept applying and just won't get hired. Please open your eyes. TJ Maxx. The mere mention of the name makes the mister shudder. So I prefer to roam its aisles solo. The pros: -From time to time, they carry my favorite jam, which generally can't be found outside of the Northwest. And they carry it for $3.99. -They have some cute clothes at reasonable prices. Today, for example, I found a Free People sweater that would have run me $148 at the Free People store, but TJ Maxx had it for a cool $24.99. -They have a nice kitchen section, and they even have Le Creuset cookware. -I never paid attention to the baby section before, but now that I'm expecting, I wandered into that section today. I was quite impressed. They have tons of really high-quality baby clothes, toys, activity mats, Boppies, even Amy Coe wall hangings - and they're all available at a serious discount. The cons: -The help. They are less than helpful. They tend to range from ambivalent to rude. -The setup. They have so much stuff, and not enough space for it all. Most of the aisles aren't even big enough for one carriage to fit through, and this creates a number of traffic problems. Also, many of the racks are so packed with stuff that it's impossible to actually look at what's ON the racks. It's bananas. -The books. They have children's books, but almost all of them are messed up. The pages are bent, the covers are worn, there are scratches and dents in the books. If I wanted a used book, I'd go to the used book store. So while there are certainly deals to be had at TJ Maxx, you have to be willing to put up with a bit of annoyances in order to get them. I'm willing to do that once in a while, but not all the time. I just don't have the patience for it. read more

This is a Home Goods / T J Maxx Reasons not to go: 1. Poor selection, though the HomeGoods section is a little better. 2. The slowest cashiers in Massachusetts. 3. Almost impossible to find a parking spot (since the development of this area) Reasons to go: 1. Even if you are terrible driver, you will meet many more worse than you. All I can say is moving from Florida I had never seen a "TJ Maxx and more" and was PLEASANTLY surprised when I found out that it was a combo of two of my fav stores. TJ Maxx usually has really great home stuff but Homegoods has better. So having both in one location is ideal. We all know that TJ Maxx is hit or miss. The main concerns should be: A) how clean is the store B) is the store a complete mess C) how busy is the store D) is the sales floor empty with minimal merchandise If there is a positive answer to each of those than it's a good TJ Maxx. And this one surely is! We've all been to those that are dirty and a complete mess. This one is very organized, has great clearance aisles that are clearly marked and there is a great selection for all departments. read more

Selection, service and even cleanliness can vary widely from store to store. I consider this variability part of the thrill of the hunt - the bargain hunt that is. A combination TJ Maxx/Homegoods store is clearly a brilliant idea, and many previous reviewers have let you in on this little secret behind this location. I too, have a tough time showing restraint amid aisles and aisles of kitchen wares and home décor. But, it's something else entirely that keeps me coming back to this location time and again - denim. Given that weekend/casual jeans are pretty much the last remaining wardrobe items that I snag out of the juniors section -- this is the place to go. They have an enormous selection, and I have been known to spend hours trying on cartloads of them in search of the perfect pair. Or two. Or three. It takes me that long to sort through the different styles, and to keep running back to the racks to trade up or down sizes since different designers range so widely in their fit. Searching for a perfect pair of jeans often feels like a wild goose chase, but most of my favorite pairs have come off the racks here. I know that you all need in on this little secret, because some of you compliment me often enough on my stylish denim. It's true what they say: Designer looks. This lovely location is also a Home Goods which is nice. I love being able to pick up some underwear and then head on over to the furniture and then to the kitchenware. Its great! This store seems like it gets busy, it was messy but not disorganized. There was an ok sized mens section, but really, I only go there for the hosuewares/kitchen shizz! They have a great selection always, but with clothing it really is hit or miss. for me its always a miss. read more

The Home Goods section is massive and boasts a great selection of furniture - fancy stuff you won't find at Jordan's - for way less than a furniture store would charge. I've never done well with clearance here but what the hell? The stuff is already priced low. I've found a lot of great stuff for my apartment here. The TJ Maxx section is particularly stellar in accessories, bath goods and sleepwear departments. The Juniors stuff tends to be pretty picked over. Lines move quickly despite appearing to be long. Clearly, the TJ Maxx/Home Goods combo is the ultimate. It's the best of all possible worlds, and now T-accessible (and has ample free parking). The 90 bus from Davis/Highland Ave/Sullivan also stops right out front. Unlike the TJ Maxx/Marshall's locations downtown, this store's off-the-beaten path location means it isn't as picked over, cramped, and messy as its more cosmopolitan cousins. I've found gems in the shoe and bag sections, and the selection of bedding, bathroom stuff, and kitchen tools is also quite good. read more

This store is a relatively newer store so the shopping experience is pretty pleasant: wide aisles, bright lighting, well kept floors. Although the sportswear section is always a challenge, I do enjoy browsing the Beauty, Jewelry and Shoe sections. Also, the kitchen gadget section of HomeGoods was specifically designed to convince you of your absolute need to buy another whimsical plate set or a cute potato peeler that looks like a cow. Don't even get me started on the gourmet food section... their selection of Vanilla Extract and Pastes makes my heart weep. Don't resist the temptation. Go. Shop. Be HomeGoods happy. read more

I've never seen a TJ Maxx with so much home decor items!! Drool.... Anyway, I bought a really cute/comfy arm chair here for $199 and had a really hard time trying to fit it into my car. The staff was super helpful. After failing to get it into the back seat, they suggested I get some cords at K-Mart next door and then helped me tie it tight in the trunk. They were so helpful and friendly even though it took a long time to figure out. read more

this is a tj maxx n' more store. what's the n' more? it's the homegoods section, silly. i spent a good 2 hours in here. walking up and down the aisles. pondering whether some french country housewares went w/my current chartreuse/chocolate/cobalt/turquoise mod/eclectic kitchen decor. mulling over whether i had room in my place for more baking pans. there were quite a few weighty decisions being made in somerville that day. last time i was at assembly square mall (seeing lord of the rings 2: the two towers) i remembered it being a much different place. i'm sorta liking the n' more. some deals to be had here. i was only in the homegoods section. at the time of this writing can't comment on the clothes. it looked like a tornado had come through the clothing area (in other words, everything was as it should be). read more

i love love love TJ MAXX, let me start by saying. but their return/exchange policy makes no sense. on top of this, the managers and sales associates at this location that I encountered today was not at all up to par. I had to go thru 3 ppl to get to the manager, they sent us the "key holder", the "coordinator" the "wrong manager" from the TJ MAXX side as opposed to the Homegoods side. I was getting fru-stra-ted!! Took prob an hour altogether, all the while a sales associate named Ruthie kept on telling us to "relax and no worries" while giving us a fake smile. there's nothing i hate more than fake ppl, they used fancy words to tell me im outta luck if i cant find a receipt altho the pillows i got were defect and told me if only I left the tags on.. (why would I if I intended to keep them, not expecting them to have feathers poking out left and right and a broken zipper so soon after i bought them?) So I said "you're telling me anyone who loses their receipts is screwed?" she said "i didn't say that. you did." the whole schpeel. the word customer service does not exist here. the manager finally came out and said she can't do anything, which I was gonna just accept and buy new pillows that i had just picked out while waiting for them this whole time. I was gonna take that loss and pay another $50 for 2 deco pillows. fine. yet the manager (Mrs. Cruz) came out and gave us the same shanenigan as the other associates. That was fine UNTIL i showed my frustration and looked up at the ceiling while i exhaled.. (who wouldnt be frustrated at this point?? after 1 hour just to see a manager and having attitudes thrown at us from all directions). Mrs. Cruz then says to me "don't do that with your head, it's annoying." I couldn't believe it. WOW. The slogan for TJ MAXX should be changed, it certainly isnt "high standards". Maybe try sending the associates to a customer service/retail industry 101 class? so sad to see ppl at work when clearly they do not enjoy a bit of what they do. I feel for you. read more

I must admit that I was dreading my trip to TJ's on a Saturday during the holiday shopping season, but I was impressed with this store. The aisles were neat, there was a ton of merchandise, and the best part...the line moved VERY quickly. This location has a nifty little checkout design where a light flashes as soon as a checker is ready to take you, so there's no mistaking where to go. Despite the crowd, my experience here was a breeze. read more

This is a TJ Maxx and Homegoods combined. The store is standard sized compared to their other stores and there is a decent selection of items here. We can always spend at least half an hour just browsing for items. Of course, other people have the same idea and the checkout lines can get long. This store is actually called TJ Maxx and More which is no lie. They have all the TJs standards - clothes, shoes, fragrances, jewelry. But they also have an enormous home section - decor, furniture, bedding. They also have a ton of seasonal items and a huge baby/infant section. The "and more" is an understatement! Given my frightful experience even trying to FIND the plaza this TJ Maxx is in (I was meeting a friend who lives in Cambridge), I was impressed with what was actually inside! It's actually a TJs and Home Goods store rolled into one... whoa talk about STUFF overload. Whoever came up with that idea really had some extra brain power that day... even more discounted stuff to choose from. Thank you so much TJs, for providing me with an EXCELLENT quality Michael Kors bathing suit to start off my summer right - and at only $15, I can now actually afford to park at the beach this weekend! This is the best tJ Maxx around. They are usually very well stocked and it's a big store. A lot of things I find at other TJ Maxx's that have low supply, I can usually find here. The layout of the store makes things really easy to find. They also have quite a big home goods section which is awesome. The employees are also very kind. The only two downsides I would say is I never seem to not sit in an extremely long check out line, and the dressing room lights are super bright that I literally see my every flaw I didnt even know was there. Thanks for that haha. But overall my favorite tj maxx around! read more

One of my favorite locations. Great selection of everything, but I would have to say my favorite is the athletic wear for women, women's shoes and the home goods. I never walk out of that store empty handed and have always had great customer service. read more
