Some of the reviews I read are ridiculous. It's TJMaxx people. They have what they have. If you like it, buy it because it won't be there when you return. I always find good things. Cute, trendy styles, kitchenware, good selection of bags, etc. The staff at this store are all nice and helpful, and I go there a lot. Called to TJ maxx Brookline. Looking for a different size dress I had purchased. The person that answered the phone asked for a description which I gave. However, a second person came on and said that "without a brand name, they cannot look it up." My dress did not have a brand name on it so I could not give the person that information. She did not want to hear it. She talked over me and keep saying she can not help me. She said we have so many dresses there, so there is no way they can look for it. WOW. great customer service!! I've called other TJX and all they need was a description of the item to be able to help me. Great reduced pricing on so many items but there's not much variety for said items other than clothing. May be due to being a smaller location overall but you'll be sure to find a great deal for clothing at the very least. The customer service was great. We were welcomed in, checkout was a breeze and the cashier made nice conversation and we were greeted on our way out. I have a gift card to TJ Maxx that I got a while ago so I came here to use some of it up. This is a pretty decent location. Not the most organized one I've seen but I did see lots of good products there and got some great deals. Also the service is very good. It was very busy when I went to pay for my stuff and the line was pretty long but they had enough help working at the registers so that customers didn't have to wait very long in the line. And they guy who waited on me was very nice and very professional. I mainly shopped the beauty department but I went around to look at clothing as well and saw a lot of nice things at very fair prices. I would certainly come back again. read more

I frequent this TJ Maxx once a week. I have mixed reviews with this certain store. Management is very helpful if you ask them a question or where to find something. However, one of the cashiers really drives me nuts and I try to avoid him every time. There is no need to comment on the items I am buying, then get upset when I ask you to stop commenting on my items. After I stand in line for 10 minutes, I just want you to ring up my items and quickly get me on my way. Not ask me if I am in the medical field or why I need black sneakers. Take the hint that I don't want to talk. Also stop shoving the credit card down customer's throats. I said I wasn't interested and the kinda bald (with gray hair) cashier kept pushing and pushing. Organization is definitely an issue in the clothes department. I always pass by dresses torn or dirtied and question why they're even out for sale with full sticker price. Some clothes are still bizarrely priced. It's really a hit or miss here looking for clothes. Shoes here are basically a miss...I still find most of them bizarrely priced as well given that this is supposed to be a bargain store. Do I want to buy a pair of shoes $50+ here? No thank you. Decent variety of hand bags arranged according to color. Plethora of scarves, socks, and tights. I really only come here if I'm looking for bargain kitchen ware or am in the serious mood of killing time. Black Friday--I've never seen TJ Maxx SO stocked ever. They should spray the shoes area with scented perfume...it reeks of rubber/machinery. Their dressing rooms are really nice. Spacious and each stall has its own big mirror that is brightly lit. Your only chance to pose confidently like a runway model in there! read more

They keep adding display islands so that it's almost impossible to get down the aisles, much less pass someone else. The staff on the floor don't speak English, so good luck trying to find something. I bought a 4-pack of Under-Armour large socks, supposedly for sizes 9-12. I wear size 9-10 shoes, but when I tried to put one of the socks on, it was so tight that I couldn't, so gave up. I brought them to the store with the receipt, but they said they couldn't take them back since I'd worn them. I said I hadn't worn them as I couldn't even get the first one on. The manager was such a jerk that I finally gave up. I contacted Under-Armour and they said they'd give me a credit and sent a return shipping label by email. Of course, I don't usually buy that brand, so don't know if I'll ever use it - especially if I need to trek to one of their own stores. read more

What is it about TJ Maxx? If I'm there to look for something in particular, I can never find it. But I still manage to walk out having spent at least $75 on things I probably don't need. Like yet ANOTHER purse. Or a slinky gold shirt too trashy to wear even to the Joshua Tree. But let me tell you...standing under the harsh florescent lights in the dressing room, I can't help but convince myself that I can't live without whatever items I happen to be trying on. I frequent this particular TJ Maxx simply because I live around the corner. And ohh...how I wish I didn't. So many hours, so many dollars have been spent at this crowded establishment. And boy is it crowded. Perhaps it's the fact that the store is teeny tiny. Perhaps it's the fact that someone made the smart decision to provide the customers with shopping carts. If I had a dime for every time I had to practically dive into a rack of clothes to get out of the way for someone with a shopping cart, well...I'd have a lot more money to spend at TJ Maxx, that's for sure. My bank account is suffering due to my proximity to this store, but on the bright side, from now on when somebody asks me if I have a trashy gold shirt they can borrow, I can confidently answer, "yes." read more

The meatheads pretending to be security guards in the parking lot won't let anyone parked in the row furthest from the road, despite the fact that they are clearly marked spots and have always been TJ Maxx customer parking. Apparently this is now an imaginary tow zone because of some storage containers nearby? It makes zero sense but they chased me back to my car and there were no other spots to park in, so I won't be returning to this location. read more

Been in here quite a few times. Not sure how it has such High reviews, I can never find what I am looking for and when I ask a clerk they have no idea where it is. They are always missing sizes in clothing, belts, etc. The pillow wall is literally just pillows thrown everywhere, some with no price tags. Perhaps its just me or I go at the worst possible times. Duh nat na na Duh nat na na TJ Maxx! Never the same place twice, dear readers. For a long time I scorned TJ Maxx, as the one that went up in my hometown of Swampscott was no competition for the much-better-selection-having Marshall's across the street. But around the time I moved to Allston, I found myself in need of some cute brown shoes to wear with skirts. And so down to Harvard Ave I went and found cute brown mary janes *and* a pair of sweet Saucony sneaks, both of which were under $30. Score! Over the years this TJ Maxx has offered up a never ending supply of cheap and cheerful bags, shoes, and housewares. Some of the second-hand joints just down the road can't hold a candle to the deals here. The clothes do nothing for me, though, and even for this kind of place it's pretty messy. Standing in line always takes an age and you are either attended to by a taciturn woman giving you the stinkeye or a mop-headed fellow giving you too much eye, if you get my meaning. But sitting here in my super cute Kenneth Cole sandals that I got for next to nothing, I know the good outweighs the bad at this TJ Maxx. Max for the minimum at minimum price! read more

Oh TJ Maxx. I've found some really great deals here. I've spent hours and hours just perusing the racks, hoping to find that one special gem, be it a laundry basket or Cole Haan shoes (my sister got some GORGEOUS Cole Haan pink loafers here for $12. True story). Yes, the disorganization and general messiness of the store can be frustrating sometimes (people, if you don't want something, give it to someone! Don't just stick it somewhere) and yes, I see more abandoned Starbucks cups here than anywhere else. Despite that, I love it. It's like my home away from home. While I love TJ Maxx, this is the worst branch in the city. The handbag and shoe sections are teeny tiny, and the dress racks are so close together that I swear my back was touching the clothing behind me as I browsed. In my 6 years of living here, I've only bought one thing here - and I shop pretty darn frequently! IMHO, the best discount store in Boston is the Marshall's on Boylston downtown. It's not a very big TJ Maxx, but I spent a lot of time here by myself, so happily browsing the aisles! It's compact, which I like. I went explicitly to buy a suitcase which I'll need in a few days, and I was delighted to find them one third the price of regular luggage, and equally as aesthetically appealing. I grabbed some chocolate truffles and biscotti for $2.99 on my way out, and a shiny $4.99 picture frame. In total I spent about $65 because the suitcase (pink for breast cancer, yay!) was $49. Quick, efficient, low-price shopping. I don't think I'd buy shoes or clothes here though... They were either clunky and 80s looking (or maternity-looking), or just too plain. I didn't see a difference between clothes/shoes here and a Salvation Army/Goodwill. read more

This TJ Maxx is great, right by where I live and free parking, although the Allston Village traffic blows. I generally find whatever I am looking for, and the selection is rarely lacking. The shoe and juniors department are my favorite, but i've found a few great dresses there as well (Kenneth Cole and BCBG). read more

The customer service and employee attitude is deplorable at this store. I bought an ice chest at the Bald Hill Road Warwick, RI store and after taking it home I realized that there were some scuffs on the side and near the bottom. Two weeks later, after moving to Boston, I got the chance to return it to the nearest store - Brookline/Allston. They told me that the price tag (still on) "wouldn't scan" and that they wouldn't accept it anyway because "of the condition it was in because they wouldn't get any money for it." No kidding, why do you think I'm returning it! Have you never had a customer return something because they took it home and discovered that it was damaged/defective? They aren't honoring their return policy. I have to drive to RI to see if they original store will accept it. Don't deal with these incompetent staff if you don't have to. read more

I saw a few Lodge and Le Creuset items for prices lower than what is offered at Amazon. One weird thing I encountered on my visit about two weeks ago was a woman with a dog. It's no wonder this store has a crappy rating... and I only wish I had seen these reviews before coming. The manager on duty is named David. He was rude when we tried to exchange a damaged merchandise... with tags and receipt. Not only was the staff completely rude, but the manager had the audacity to be disrespectful and unprofessional. I spent ATLEAST a thousand dollars here in the last month with receipts to show. Think they care? I have great luck at this store in the home goods/furnishings, health and beauty, small home decor, gourmet food, stationery, kitchen ware, and bath areas. I would say basically every section, other than the clothing and shoe departments have always held something of use for me. The interesting thing is, I can always find something of good quality that I am not necessarily looking for, but can use, and to me, that is a good place to shop. Some things I have found here include a Kate Spade blanket, several Jonathan Adler stationery items, European copper cookware, Portugese and Turkish made towels, a CHI blow dryer, lots of gourmet shop items that would cost almost twice as much as the TJ Maxx price and really nice looking gift wrap for a fraction of the price one would pay at Paper Source. I do wish T J Maxx carried a better selection of clothing and shoes. If you are looking for some home accessories, do try this place! It's a quick walk to Coolidge Corner and the C line, just a stone's throw from the B line, and a nanosecond from the 66 bus line! read more

I never actually got into the store, but I had a trip to the store all planned out. Alas, as I headed in I realized that I needed cat litter too, and decided to stop at Petco first. Apparently this was a grave mistake, as I came out to my car getting towed. I tried to explain that my original destination was, indeed, TJ Maxx...but to no avail. As I scrambled to get funds from the various (broken) ATMs in the area, I realized that I was done with TJ Maxx, not just for today, but forever. Thank you for towing my vehicle because I unthinkingly made the decision to grab something from the store 50 ft from you first, and thank you to the employee who found my mistake so amusing. Now that it's holiday season the lines in Tj Maxx were long, but by the time I got to the cashier my mood from from waiting in that long line changed. This TJ Maxx won't get the full five stars like some of others might because it's pretty small. The selection at this location seems more limited then the larger ones. It's pretty decent overall and if you're lucky you can be the person that finds something awesome amidst all the junk. The best selection they have seems to be of women's shoes, not bad at all. Tj maxx's in general are great when you are looking for some famous name items at a discount price. This location is convenient, right off the 66 bus and well-stocked. I often see way more things then i can afford and get overwhelmed. But, a lot of things tend to not be the right size for me. that is fairly typical of stores like this though. Everything in here is pretty well organized, clean store and enough cashiers so the line moves fast. much easier to get to then the one in downtown crossing, so i usually check here first. read more

TJ Maxx in Brookline/ Allston line with FREE parking? You gotta be sharting me? I am loving the free parking, although the clientele ranges from normal people like me to yes, dahling socialites looking for a cocktail dress on the cheap. The store is big and usually pretty messy, kind of like Filene's Basement of Downtown Crossing. I like coming here on a slow day and saunter around the store with my hot cider from the starbucks up the road. The registers are swift and they have a little bell that goes off and a nice ladies voice says "Register Four is now open, please proceed to register four." The ladies that work there are nice. There was one lady who gave me a good deal on a black Michael Kors shirtdress, that probably retails for $200.00, I got it for $59.00, as there was not a tag on it. Nice place to spend a half hour and I hate shopping. read more

This TJs location is pretty large and has a good number of bags/purses and coats/dresses. There is, of course, the usual assortment of tops, pants, and skirts for ladies and juniors and a decent shoe department. I find a ton of my kitchen supplies here, including cookware, bakeware, utensils, grill pans and such that I would normally not NEED, but don't have a problem spending $10 on, etc. This location has quite a lot left on Saturday afternoons, which is when I usually head down there. While the locations downtown (Downtown Crossing) tend to get rooted through really quickly, this one is frequented a bit less and you're more likely to find some good stuff here. I've purchased a gorgeous leather designer bag here for about 80% off the retail price and I get my staple work clothes here relatively often. Don't tell anyone. There are also a ton of coats here, currently, which is always nice as those can get pricy at department stores and boutiques. Just a warning, this place is CONSTANTLY being shoplifted, so hang on to your stuff while you're in there. I've never had a problem, though. Overall, it's not classy. It's TJ's. And you'll either find a TON of great stuff or absolutely nothing. But when you find the good stuff, it can totally make your day. $10 Express pants? Cheers to that! read more

Not all heroes wear capes. My girlfriend visited TJ Maxx last night and our car was towed just before she walked out from their parking lot (which they lease). A manager at TJ Maxx this morning took care of the entire process of getting our car back. He was courteous, efficient, and professional. Love TJ Maxx. Watch out for the sleezy deal with the parking. Theres a towing company that lurks waiting for you to leave your car and go anywhere else besides TJ Maxx. Even if you shop at TJ Maxx and then elsewhere they will tow it. I wont go to this TJ Maxx again... They even towed someones car that was still in the store shopping! The manager had to come out and tell the guy to bring the car back cause the woman was still in the store!. Sleezy! read more

I love TJ Maxx for all the great deals and diverse product range, this one always comes through for me and I'd give it 5 stars if the shopping experience wasn't similar to shopping in a ghetto. I feel bad for the employees there due to some of the scum that goes in there. The customer service is great if you are nice and respectful to the employees and understand that this store is always busy so it can take time for them to attend to you. This store always has a line and is always a mess full of ghetto fat asses and rude gross foreigners dropping items on the floor and destroying every nicer looking display they touch. There are always screaming children left unattended and running up n down the isles n playing in the clothing racks n there are always old people n fat ghetto mamas using the furniture displays as their own personal living rooms where they sit for hours and people watch. If you actually want to shop for furniture n ask them to move they get pissy n try to pick a fight with you. The employees don't do anything about them either they just let them hang out there. If you can ignore the awful clientele here and have patience to deal with obnoxious children however it does have a great selection of hand bags, random food stuff, and juniors clothing... my favorites. If they had a student discount I would def come back more often. read more
