The class was $60 and each person made two large candles. Normal candles from the shop are $32 each so this is a great deal to get a custom scented candle. The candles were ready for pickup next day and I've enjoyed burning them at home. They also have a great collection of premade candles with even more scents. I'm partial to #76 which had a watery floral scent

We had their last time slot of the day and it was a full class. Before the class started we were able to explore the shop a bit and there were so many candles and accessories. It's so cute inside! Our instructor Mossi was amazing and very knowledgeable about the different types of scents and combinations. It was so much fun figuring out which scents I resonated the most with. We also got to smell everyone's scent combinations which was cool knowing that scents smell different to every person. After the class, we got a small discount on any additional items we wanted to purchase that day. I got this really cool dirty martini candle and a wick dipper. Heads up that candle pick up is the next day so the wax can settle. They will hold your candles for two weeks but after that they will burn them in the store. During the workshop, the store ran out of one of the scents my friend wanted to use. We made it work and found a substitute but the during pickup we found a note, a slip for another workshop and a small candle to make up for the inconvenience. That was so nice of them! As for my candle, I don't think I can recreate it anywhere else. It's only been two weeks and I've already burned through most of one of them because it smells so good. The scents actually last and linger in any space you put them in. I 100% recommend this place whether you want to try a workshop, give this experience as a gift or just stop by to smell the candles. Heads up it's BYOB. You don't have to drink but you're able to bring something if you want.

In Downtown LA there is a fantastic store that has an insane number of knives... maybe too many. This store claims that they they have the biggest selection of knives in New England. I feel like they have enough good knives to have a varied enough selection for different preferences, but yet not overwhelming their customers with too many choices. I got a great bread knife that I'm really happy with recently. It's just the right weight (not to light) and has a really comfortable grip and an "elegant" length. It makes cutting breads really smooth and easy to cut very thin slices. It is apparently their best bread knife, and at $150, I think the price is right. Despite being on Beacon Hill, I don't feel that their prices are high or unreasonable, but just right. The store is fun to browse through for many other kitchen or cooking supplies or gifts. As a well-stocked mom and pop store it has that quality of surprise at finding something you never thought about. The personnel is also very helpful. I've been there a couple times and they seem to be knowledgeable and willing to help, to explain things and answer questions. They have personal experience with the things they sell.

But the service was bad and we encuntered terrible attitude. First of all, for a fine knife store, there was no ability to try any knife. We selected a Mac 6.5in for $150 based on our past experience. It turned out they only have the one display knife to sell in the store. We also wanted to buy a magnetic knife holder. Again, it is only available inside the sealed box. We could not open the box to examine the product. We decided to just buy the knife as a gift. Paid by credit card but had to ask the clerk to get my receipt. Even that, the first offer was by email only. Overall, it was a terrible experience. Do not go there. Not worth it.

Tis' the Season for Aesop!…read more This Seaport flagship's interior is stunning! I'm going to be sending the interior design decisions here to my future self so when it comes time for my homeowner era, I can decorate my house to look just like it does in here. Besides the decently-sized store and basically having a full stock of all the Aesop products offered, the staff here are seriously the best! Me and my boyfriend visited the store a few times this year and have left in a 10x better mood not just because we walked away with Aesop products but also because of the interactions we had with the staff. Special shoutout to Victoria though, because our last visit here was wonderful in every way. We were poured a soothing peppermint tea, offered small snacks, given generous samples to take home and were given 110% patience as we went around trying all the products that peaked our interest. Highly recommend visiting this Aesop store if you're in the area and also get a hand washing experience while you're at it!

I was looking for a specific product, and without fanfare she pulled it from the counter, walked to the register and checked me out so quickly I didn't realize what was happening. The friend I was with - clueless about what Aesop was - remarked about how unappealing it all was. I would have continued to shop but left abruptly because the vibe was so negative and completely unprompted. Perhaps the salesperson was taught that luxury skincare requires contempt for the customer. Maybe it's just the new seaport vibe. Either way, no thanks.

Thankfully, they're back in a different area of the North End, still doing their thing of sustainable products. Maria (owner) & her staff + interns are amazingly friendly & helpful! There are probably eco-friendly things here you didn't even know you needed. It's great to be able to bring my empty glass jars or use theirs to get your refills. It's a simple & easy way to get whatever items you need, like body lotion, detergent, & other products. They also have an abundance of plants which is pretty cool. They even do a clothing swap & other events too, so you have to follow them to know when they're happening. The issue is that they're not always open when they're supposed to be which is unfortunate.

I've tried ordering eco products online before and it's been hit or miss. I'm happy to have found a place where I can see things in real life before buying them and make sure they are durable and sized correctly for my needs, even try a toothpaste tablet from the sample container, and talk to real life people who have tried the products so I can find out what makeup remover to use with the bamboo pads and whether shampoo and conditioner bars will have a different feel than the liquid stuff. More bonuses: they are walking distance from the orange line, they said I can bring back empty containers and buy refills, and their plant nursery section is nice. They are a bit pricey, as should be expected with ethically sourced products, not to mention storefronts that pay rent in the North End. Most of what I bought will hopefully last long enough to more than pay for itself. I'll be back!
