We stumbled upon Boston General Store & it's literally awesome! This store is a great place to go to get unique gifts for others, or for yourself, who don't really need anything but nice to have. I loved the stationary goods section and was ecstatic to find they had mechanical pencils with 2.0 mm lead! This was my favorite lead to write with growing up but I was never able to find them in the U.S. (I would bring these pencils back from Asia). So, it was very nostalgic for me when I saw them & wrote on the notepad with it! I didn't end up purchasing it because I found $12 to be quite steep for one singular pencil that I have no use for currently BUT I do see myself coming back for it haha. They also had a bunch of different home essentials like soaps, honey, & jams here, which I found to be pretty cool & unique. I would definitely come back again to grab some pens & to find gifts! The space was cozy and from the moment we walked in Steysy made us feel right at home. The workshop was hands on activities and allowed for us to express ourself artistically. We were able to craft our own candles with our selected scent. The collaboration with Flower and Vibe was top notch. It added an extra layer of creativity and working closely with your loved one to create a flower arrangement. The flower arrangement was the perfect touch to go with our candles. The cost of the workshop was $180 for both so I'm assuming it's $90/ pp. It's a bit costly, but for the experience it was worth it.

She guided my group and I through each step of the candle making process and was so clear, easy to follow and informative! She has a background in education and as a fellow educator, she really broke candle making all the way down and even the chemistry behind it! There are many oils to choose from, and you can even mix a few so long as the combination is roughly 30 grams. You also get to choose whatever jar you like. Lucky for me, there was one chrome jar left on the shelf so I was able to grab that one to use! There was also refreshments, wine, and light snacks served during the workshop which was a great addition with the ticket purchase. Now, this is a newer black owned business and women owed business, so I'm happy to support! The shop itself is very quaint, but has a lot of items for purchase, like other candles, perfumes, jewelry, and scents. It's located in the Speedway in Brookline which has a small lot beside it, but there's street parking if you are lucky or a Community Center parking lot a couple minutes away to park at. Apparently, the owner also does soap making classes which sounds very interesting. I'm already thinking of coming back again sometime in the spring with some more friends! Please go! You won't be disappointed!!

As the name implies, the store's speciality is olive oil, and you can sample a wide variety of oils and vinegars. If that's not your forte, don't worry because the store has plenty more to offer. I spent a long time just browsing the store because it's beautifully arranged. Even though it's fairly small, they make good use of the space. You can get locally made ice cream and honey, as well as kitchenware imported from all over the world. I found a very cute Christmas gift for my mom. There also sell cheeses, spices, teas, hot sauces - a lot more than I can list. Easily accessible whether you're driving or using public transit. There's street parking in many places along Beacon Street and the shop is right next to the Summit Avenue stop on the C branch of the Green Line.
