Curious to know what the interview questions are when someone applies for a job here: Do you hate being employed? Are you good at scowling? Can you commit to being miserable while ringing up customers? How much experience do you have giving monosyllabic commands? Listen, the store itself is clean and well stocked. Not been to the pharmacy, so this is purely my take on customer service. You'll definitely get your essentials here, but don't expect anything close to a smile, or god forbid a greeting, or any kind of human-to-human interaction from the cashiers or staff. read more

The pharmacy department was outstanding - they went above and beyond to see if my insurance would cover Covid tests, they transferred my prescription from CVS (and unlike CVS they were able to fill my prescription), and they were incredibly nice to me and everyone else in line. They took the time that was needed with each customer and you could tell it they liked working there. It was clear that they knew their customers personally and really cared about them. Not only that, but I was able to find a hypoallergenic face cream my dermatologist advised - previously I had always had to buy it online - but there it was on the shelf - hurrah! They don't train people on how to honor coupons and it becomes a rip off. So sad it's very shady.

This is one of the worst stores I've been to. Smells bad, long lines and there is a supervisor who always seems reluctant to jump on the register to help her employees. The cashiers are always nice despite being so busy. Kudos to them! read more

Terrible Rude Wrongful Employee: Linda Sunday 740 PM 12/01/19 Avoid this place --go up the street to the competitor. She's not worth dealing with and yeah it's worth boycotting stores when employees at a pharmacy style store (or any store) are rude and controlling. It's snowing. I needed things. Off to Walgreens--friendly neighborhood chain. NOT First Linda---the terrible employee-- not at the register though she's working the front. I wait around for a cashier. All registers vacant - she's nowhere to be found on Sunday night. She appears and I'm standing, smiling, polite at a register. Curtly and rudely she says "Wrong Register" --as if it's register roulette. How would I know which register to stand at if she she's not there? She grins and sounds like a drill seargent as she directs me to stand elsewhere. ( I'm almost 60 and a professional). Next- I'd purchased a product from the flyer (attached ) that clearly listed (clearly I say) Buy One get one 50% off for ALL varieties---just like vitamins, soups, etc. 3 items ALL at the same price 39.99, all Walgreen brand, all in the flyer, all with the same sign in the store -- Buy One get One 50% off. Crystal Clear. A deal we see daily at any supermarket , pharmacy etc. ( I went to the manager the next day who said that all employees at all locations know how these discounts work. He apologized and fixed things but i'm out an hour of my life unnecessarily for who? for Linda (not my mother, boss, employee--just a control freak who should be fired)., Then the register did not discount. I told Linda, calmly and politely that the total was wrong. It's supposed to be buy one get one 50% off. She raised her voice "Don't make your own Rules". I said the rules are clearly posted on the price signs and the flyer and were right behind her. Not only did she not readily accept the discount--she wouldn't let me purchase what I want. All items were 39.99 so any of them at 1/2 off would be the same price-especially since they all had the buy one get one 1/2 off sing and they're all for the same purpose. I mention to her that vitamins listed in the flyer, soups in the past, all let you mix and match when they all are posted. She yells again--stop making your own rules, you can't do that. She had me go back and get another item (2 of EXACT same --not what I came out for--not what's in the flyer.) I'm a middle aged man --wandering in the snow and working in health care) I can read signs, i can read ads. I've worked retail. I've shopped in buy one get one 1/2 off deals myriad times. This was in no way trying to pull a fast one. Any employee and store anywhere in the USA knows how it works. She's just bad news, the devil incarnate and not too bright too boot. Derives power by yanking customers around. Again (2x) the register didn't note the price. Linda yells. " I can't discount if they're not in 'da' system". I'm in a bit of shock. I tell her that's nothing a customer deals with and again mention the flyer. I remind her that they're posted behind her as such and in the flyer (which she fails to consult). Instead she pulls out a hand calculator, agitated to figure out the discount---although I don't have the products I wanted under the discount. I've clipped the flyer 12/01/19 flyer posted below, I've noted the price. I'll call the manager. Get rid of her I've observed her on other occasions berating other customers. Shame on you Walgreens---Just read the other reviews. Definitely time to axe Linda. I do hope neighbors will stop going to this store. I will also tell my clients and employees not to use this Walgreens. Can her. UPDATE--spent time on the phone the next day with an Asst. Mgr. They say they will speak to her, spent 30 more minutes getting my stuff . He did honor the exchange which should have not been necessary in the first place. Her kindness and patience with my hysterical 6yo daughter as she administered her vaccinations made a tough situation the best it could be. I get the sense that working in a pharmacy these days is really challenging from staffing to drug shortages, and I know she had a lot of work to do. Came in to get a free flu shot. It was easy to book an appointment using the Find Care process on their website: https://www.walgreens.com/findcare/services I went at noon on a weekday and everyone was wearing a mask and social distancing. I was told to bring the form to the Pharmacy's Drop Off window, gave them my insurance card, and within 10 minutes, a pharmacist with mask and face shield gave me the flu shot in a tiny booth. Everyone was nice. You get a $5 off $15 coupon for getting a flu shot. Unfortunately, they were out of isopropyl alcohol but they had toilet paper. Forgot to check on spray disinfectant, but lots of hand sanitizer. I'd recommend this Walgreens. read more

I'm brand new to the east coast and trying to get all my pieces together. Stopped by the pharmacy after a doctors appointment today and with very little empathy the pharmacist handed me a slip of paper saying my insurance isn't working. I know for a fact it is and 100% rely on this medication without missing a dose. This review is about there empathy behind the counter, it's not their job to figure out my insurance but after explaining to them my situation, I basically got the middle finger. Tried to buy something that was on sale with a Walgreens card. Blonde long ponytail cashier rings it up (doesn't say anything). So I asked her if I could put my phone number in for the sale. She says "nope too late". So I ask "well can I return it then?". She proceeds to have a fit "I'm not a cashier! I work in pharmacy! I don't do this! I work in pharmacy!!!" Then calls the young male manager with the glasses and the dirty blonde hair over. He immediately goes on a rant too, "I'm quitting, I'm telling _____ I'm quitting" before even reaching the register we're at.......first time shopping there and felt like I was in the twilight zone. A simple return under $10 and they act like it's rocket science. I wouldn't trust someone so short circuited like blondie to be behind the pharmacy working with pills either. On a positive note, the short Asian woman was incredibly nice and seems to be the only normal one there. read more

This is the worst pharmacy i've ever been to ... they told me that my insurance was expired and refused to give me my medication i called my insurance company and everything was still valid and working i went back and asked the young pharmacist (female ) if she can run it again she looked at me like I was stupid and laughed and told me "it's not working " but she didn't even run it. Awful female manager - I didn't even stay long enough to get her name. 50's,dyed short blonde hair. I'm on a tablet so let me be brief: I had a return to make (w/o receipt because who keeps receipts for a $12 item and I originally asked for an exchange anyway), a prescription to pick up and a purchase to make. The pharmacist was very cordial through all of this though. He's the lead pharmacist for this location and he's very sincere and provides excellent.. Support? He makes sure you get what you need, on time, no delays with shipments or insurance. Still, one star for the overall location. I was at the pharmacy window when the pharmacist called the manager to approve the exchange. This tells me it happens. She rudely refuses. I can see the 'no receipt' option on the screen. I've done it at my previous 'home' Walgreens. Just no, you should have kept your receipt. So I guess her foot's down, right? So why is she lingering while I try to get my Rx? The pharmacist looks it up. Oh sorry, we told you to come pick it up, but it's not ready for insurance to cover so do you wanna pay retail? TF. I politely decline. Manager stilll glaring like I tried to return my first born. Okay, just the purchase then, please. She aggressively redirects me through the crowded store to the front registers. (Important: anyone can get in line at the pharmacy or photo for any transaction.) So I said no, that's okay, I'll checkout here. So she waits around some more. Now we're dug in. Neither of us is feeling it and clearly neither of us intend to cave. I get rung up, and she follows me, almost footstep for footstep, through and out the store. Now if she swung on me this would be a much funnier review cause I was already done with her but no. She smokes her cigarettes out front like the classy manager she is. I'm going to find and post her name, after I call corporate. I've never called corporate but this run down, half asked Ellen DeGeneres tried it. And now this is my 'home' Walgreens so stay tuned for the blow-by-blow recount of our future throw down. I said I'd be short but clearly I've felt some type of way about this experience so... I am simply amazed that this place turns a profit. It can take over 10 minutes in line even if the two people in front of you are buying only one thing each. As no matter when you go, the person in front of you is always asked if they have a Rewards card. Of course they don't, so Walgreens has created the most painful consumer experience ever by asking people to go through this long process to complete in information to get a card. Additionally the people that happen to shop at this particular Walgreens are never all that bright and so small challenges like remembering your cell phone number end up taking and interminable amount of time. Plus they are inevitably out of the one thing you went into the store for. read more

Nice location, open on most holidays and open later during Christmas. Cosmetics is always full of new products, and they always have some coupons (ask them!) Managers here are great and helpful here, much better staff than the Arlington Heights location. They have a sweet clearance section in the back,and they have decent sales. Make sure you have one of their cards though,you won't get sale prices without it. read more

Great Walgreens. The staff, a more senior crew of ladies, is a long-term crew and they take a lot of pride in their work. I appreciate that. They are always super friendly and offer to help me find what I need, which is most usually junk food. read more

After moving nearby, I went to this pharmacy to fill a prescription. The moron at the check-in counter told me that it could not be filled because it lacked certain numbers, and she had no answer when I asked her why my previous pharmacy had been able to fill it. (It is not, by the way, a controlled substance.) But since she refused to fill it, I started to walk out - and then realized that the info she was seeking WAS ON THE BACK SIDE OF THE PRESCRIPTION, which she apparently had never looked at. So I walked in and pointed it out to her. Have never filled a prescription there since then - I always go to CVS which is cleaner and a thousand times more competent (and a preferred provider for my insurance). Avoid this place at all costs. Dingy, dirty surroundings and incompetent pharmacy staff. read more

Ok, here's why this place is awesome: Hours - opens early, closes late (7am to 11pm, 7 days a week) Prices - a lot cheaper than most of the random convenience stores up and down Mass Ave, especially those shady cash-only ones. Service - don't tell anyone, but they have rolls of quarters available - just ask for the manager. Also, the pharmacy is convenient. Staff - the managers are extremely friendly, as are most of the clerks. Products - great selection of items (almost like a miniature Target). read more

Hey Yelpers, I recently moved to the area and have always shopped at CVS, but since Walgreens is walking distance have decided to shop there. I've gotten some good clearence items there, generic toliet paper/paper towels there etc. I recently purchased a few hair products and had an allergic reaction to the hair cream. I returned the items w/receipt with no issues. The White cashier girl with the long brown ponytail or supervisor took the items, returned my money and took my receipt and ripped it up!! I had never experienced anything like this before from any store!! I was so shocked that I couldn't respond. There is a nice a sweet adult Asian cashier woman who gave me good customer service and was very helpful. I do like how the ATM machine is right there so that is a plus.. read more

The pharmacy here isn't very competent but the cashiers at the front end and friendly and helpful. Flora is the best! They always have the stuff I need in stock, and the gallons of milk are cheap, but they have a limit as to how many you can buy! read more

You've read elsewhere in this Yelp listing about the pharmacist, Pierre. He is indeed terrific in every way described in the 2013 entry below. My review today is to call out another pharmacist -- Kevork -- for special praise. Kevork has listened, advised, and supported me over several years as my mother and I struggled with her myriad of illnesses and conditions. And here's the best example of "above and beyond" that I can think of: when I had to be out of the country on a business trip, he offered to bring my mother's medications to the nurses at her local assisted living facility. I was more than touched. Collaborating with Kevork to manage my mother's debilitating illnesses, I felt that I had someone truly helping me -- and ultimately, my mom -- on a difficult journey. Today, my away-at-college daughter had a question about a new medication that was just prescribed for her. She texted me to ask the following: "Have you been able to call Kevork about my prescription?" Accordingly, I just phoned him and he walked me through the philosophy behind this medication and his experience with it. Combining Kevork's real-world experience and the available info on the internet, I now have a complete picture of how to advise my daughter. Kevork is a trusted partner -- by name! -- in my family's healthcare. What more could a customer hope for? read more

Pierre the pharmacist is the BEST! He goes above and beyond for each patient and makes sure the medication is right and your clear on how to take it. He doesn't hesitate to advocate for patients, and call the doctor if he's concerned it's not the right medication or about side effects/ interactions. He's also patient and really takes his time with each patient. He recently caught a medication that was prescribed for me but wasn't a safe choice for my pregnancy. He called, informed my doctor and recommended safer alternatives, which my doctor agreed we're better choices. I couldn't be more thankful to have such a caring and attentive pharmacist! He's also extremely pleasant and personable. Go here if your in the area! read more

I have been to this store hundreds of times. In recent years particularly I have never found the staff to be anything less than pleasant, courteous and a pleasure to interact with. I recall steppng out into the parking lot with one cashier the night of an eclipse of the moon, something that comes back to me when I see her. I can believe that others have had unpleasant experiences at any business, but that has not been what I've found. And.... they are open long hours, helpful if you're up early or need something at 10:45 P.M. on a Sunday evening. read more

The employees here are nice enough but don't expect to wait less than 10 minutes in line here. For whatever reason there's never enough cashiers. They have a good selection of products which is why I still go here, but it doesn't seem very clean and it takes forever to get out of there. It's ok. read more

The hours are convenient, as is the location. Walgreens is just not my favorite store. They could be a lot more efficient with the location of items and the quality of items. There's a ton of junk on the shelves. I find myself annoyed each time I'm in there. Whether it's how long I have to wait in line or being unable to find the right product. Even the huge eyesore parking lot is annoying. But, again - it's convenient so it's my local and I'll go there again. Every time I'm in there though, I wish I was in a CVS instead. read more
