I wanted to get layers and to have the option to style it straight or curly and to keep the length. She washed, cut and blow dried my hair for 65$ which is a pretty good price for the amazing haircut and service! I especially enjoyed the incredible scalp massage as she was washing my hair. She took her time and made it extra special! What a treat! She was very nice and gentle with my hair and I knew I was in good hands. Absolutely love Amy's Salon! Worked with both Amanda and Nicole. Amanda does my cut and color, and Nicole did an absolute showstopper of a style for a 1920s party I went to. Nicole has also done cut and color for my son. I get compliments on my color at least once a week, and it hardly fades at all between appointments. The studio is clean and well lit, and the communication with customers is great. They take credit cards, but tips are cash or Venmo only. Tip well! They deserve it. :) read more

I've been going to Samantha for years and even followed her to New Hampshire!! Today was told because she double booked, she wouldn't have time to do a new color (nothing outrageous) and I could only do my "usual" color. We've been talking for awhile about me going red. Couldn't rebook me for a time where she could do a new color change-said I needed to make a note in my record that I wanted something different. Never had a stylist that couldn't change a color without being told ahead of time. Because I was running 10 minutes late to my two hour cut and color appointment, I said I would give up the haircut to make time for the color. I was still told no-couldn't reschedule (she's going on leave and couldn't squeeze me in another time), couldn't do the color, couldn't do color without cut. I took time off for this appointment. They were talking about me when I walked in-that's pretty unprofessional. Will be finding a new stylist. Funny how 7 hours after I posted my review, two new accounts posted about Samantha after very few had mentioned her previously. Clearly reviews by her/the business. Do better! Because Amy decided to respond (1/17/2025...almost a month after my original post), I'm updating my review. When Sam called, I was 1 minute away from the salon. I can prove it too with maps indicating my location at 10 mins past my appointment. As we talked, in person, she literally was counting down the minutes. First it was 1:40, then 1:42, then 1:43. It was only after I refocused the conversation to finding a solution that she offered me another stylist on another day. At that point, there's no reason not to find a new stylist, which is what I did. In regards to talking about me-I walked in and she said, "shhh, this is her. I've talked to other stylists who have said this wouldn't have been a problem for them, so I will continue to take my business there. read more

Just had my 3rd or 4th visit here and wanted to share. I see Samantha. She loves what she does. She has fun with it and listens to you about what you want. I go in with a picture of a cut and some color ideas, and spends the time getting it perfect. Covid times -- very safe -- you wait in your car, they call you, they take your temp when you come in , you wash your hands. Every other chair is closed so no one is sitting next to you directly. Everyone is masked, place is (and always was) very clean. I absolutely love coming here. Amy must be a great employer since everyone that works for her are always so nice and happy to see you. She's also always there and offering you something to drink as soon as you get there, even if she's tending her own customers. My girl is Nicole and she's fantastic! As soon as you sit down, she gives you this unbelievable head massage after she shampoos and conditions your hair. You are in la la land when she's doing this to you. And it's not one of those teaser massage where you go "that's it?"....oh no, it's full on satisfaction. Then the haircut begins. I always bring a picture with me. Nicole will look at it for a few seconds, then say "okay, that's perfect for you". Then she does her magic. What I love about her cut is that I don't need a hairdryer or brush to style my hair. I simply let it air dry, use a little Argan oil to set it in place, maybe a spritz of hairspray, then Voila it's done. I love how it looks when it's completely dry. I am currently vacationing in Amsterdam. It's early morning here and so I'm just enjoying my coffee. But I thought I'd write this review because I've been here a week and I haven't yet used the hairdryer the Airbnb owner had provided for me. I haven't needed it because it's styled perfectly without me doing anything to it. Thank you. I'm loving my haircut Nicole. I'm not sure why Arlington is such a hotbed for salons, but it is. There are so many in this town and I've gone to quite a handful of them over the years. She asked me many questions and allowed me the time to answer, things that a lot of hair stylists don't do and that typically result in a not so happy customer. Sarah was wonderful to talk to, and this is coming from an introvert that stresses about salon small talk. I came to Amy's Salon after seeing two hairstylists in Boston that charged me $300/$400 for cuts and colors on my short hair that only looked good for a month.
