This pharmacy is terrific. They are personal, kind, responsive. It is easy to get to the Pharmacy directly by phone-- no waiting for 40 mins for a person to answer. No lines-- if someone is ahead of you, all moves quickly. Everyone is friendly. The staff are so knowledgeable. I can't recommend it more highly. Such a relief from dealing with CVS and Walgreens. More of a misunderstanding. I did a google search for medical supply stores and Keyes came back as a result. I went in and asked for "oxygen tubing and cannula" the person at the desk said "I don't understand any of those words." To be honest, he embarrassed me. I thought it would have been a reasonable expectation for him to know what I was talking about. They appear to be a small drugstore, that's fine. They should not consider themselves a medical supply store. If it appears in your search result, just know they are not. read more

The staff is pleasant. The management ("...family owned for thirty years!") is haughty and defensive. They do not and will not take any responsibility for their errors! In fact, when I sided with my physician, who had been blamed for their mistake in dosage, they threatened not to fill any more of my prescriptions! read more

This pharmacy has repeatedly made mistakes when attempting to fill my family's prescriptions. The owner (?) was rude, and dismissive and even said that my doctor was at fault. He most certainly was not! I'm sorry to see that others have had similar experiences but glad to know it wasn't just us. Terrible. They make mistakes. They fail to order medications that they do not have in stock when they say they will. They state thatn they will fill a medication and have it ready on a certain date and time, and then it's not, necessitating having to go back. Their respone? Oh, don't know why that happened, sorry. They don't care about their customers which is odd given competition from Walgreens, CVS etc. Would not recommend. I like to support small, local businesses but they don't deserve my patronage. read more

Very accessible, well stocked neighborhood pharmacy. They can fill any pharmaceutical need, whether through a brand name or generic product or through a compound. Stocking (pun intended) compression socks, having copies of newspapers available and products for the ill and disabled, Keyes can fill whatever you need from a drugstore. read more

Keyes rocks! I recently switched to them from that odious hellmouth that is the West Newton CVS and it was like the sun coming out after a long, rainy week. Why did things have to be so difficult at the old pharmacy? It's so easy here. I was sick recently and needed a prescription from the doctor, and was dreading having to deal with CVS when I was feeling so lousy. My landlord handed me a business card from Keyes that morning, so I had the doc fax the prescription over to them. It was late afternoon -- which at CVS means hours of waiting, repeated phone calls, a clerk yelling "It's not done yet! Why can't you get it tomorrow!" So walking out of the doctor's office I dialed Keyes with some trepidation. But the service line was immediately picked up by a kind, polite person! Could it be true? I asked if they had received the fax yet, and without missing a beat the reply: "Of course -- we're filling it now. Just bring your insurance info with you though." Get this: she didn't even ask my name ... she just knew. (Well -- I also made sure to confirm that it was indeed, my prescription, but still -- psychic, man.) When I got there -- 2 hours later thanks to traffic -- she was still there, my prescription was ready, and it took all of 30 seconds to get my insurance info updated. We even talked for about 5 minutes, mostly about the medicine, but also just chatting. Two other pharmacists were also there, handling customers, and it was just a relaxed affair. So, a really good neighborhood pharmacy with excellent service. They do compounding, which I've never needed but which my mom thinks is most excellent and rare. They have a whole rack of Boiron homeopathic products (more than CVS has). So -- if you're still using the West Newton CVS -- get the hell out of there and move to Keyes instead. Seriously. I was house sitting for my Sister-in-law's mother who was in hospice care at home. She ran out of medicine, I went to Keyes Drug, they knew who she was, they gave me the medicine, said that my sister-in-law was well known to them and they would call her up after the weekend about the cost. I was so grateful I could have cried. We do not find that prescription costs are more that the big guys, but some of the other stuff is. However, a trick I learned from a friend: Even though they cost a little more for some things (CVS and Walgreen's have fooled me on their sporadic high price on every 10th item) . I find I spend less overall because they are a real drug store and I am never tempted to spend $30.00 on christmas lights or $25.00 halloween junk. So at the end of the year when I add up what I spend here, I have spent less that I would have if I had been at big guy. But that's just me. read more

I had an allergic reaction to two compounding prescriptions. I'm out $150. After many phone calls back and forth, I have given up. They said I would get a partial refund over a month ago. They play games and so far have not done so. As a healthcare provider myself, they are unprofessional and I do not recommend them. read more

A great local business, with really nice staff...especially the pharmacist! They go out of their way to be friendly, and remember you and greet you every visit. They are a bit more pricey since they're not CVS, Walmart but I like the personal attention and warmth of the staff. read more

Switched to Keyes after enduring far too many months with what another reviewer accurately called "the odious hell mouth that is the West Newton CVS." What a relief! Unlike CVS, Keyes fills our prescriptions promptly and courteously and gives reliable information over the phone. Because we are self-isolating during the CoVID epidemic, Keyes helpfully brings our prescriptions outside to our parked car. Thank you!! read more

I hate this pharmacy. This pharmacy always lies to me and tells me that scripts aren't available for medications even when I know that they are. This has happened 4 times since January 2018. I know that these scripts for medications are available for these medications since Keyes actually filled the new scripts that they later will tell me are not available. I think this is cruel, dishonest, and manipulative. This pharmacy keeps overcharging me for medication. When I ask for my bill in February, I got told that the pharmacy could not show me what I am being charged for and that the pharmacy can only tell me the amount I owe. I found the bill to be too high for the amount and cost of medication I had received for January and February. This pharmacy has refused to send me a bill for my medications for months even though I asked this pharmacy to send me a bill over and over again for months (fax, email, regular mail, you name it). When I had my new pharmacy call to get my medications transferred from Keyes about a week ago, Keyes told me I owe almost a $100.00 for medications. I have had to keep track of every receipt each month and keep my own billing record since Keyes refused to send me monthly bills. I have been paying the exact amount I owe to Keyes each month. Only after I tried to transfer to another pharmacy did Keyes suddenly hand me two over due bills from August and September last week. My suggestion to anyone is not to do business with this pharmacy. This pharmacy plays manipulative games with its customers. This pharmacy is dishonest. I have had a very bad experience with this pharmacy. I am very sorry to have to write this complaint. However, I think others should be warned before finding themselves in trouble with not getting medication they need or being over billed for medication. read more

Wonderful, friendly staff! Several days ago, I stopped in to buy some items for a family member. A wonderfully friendly clerk met me at the counter to take the money and give me the change. However, I failed to ask for a receipt. Unfortunately, the family member for whom I purchased the items didn't understand the directions on the package and told me to return the items. The clerk from whom I had bought the items willingly took them back, even though I had no receipt! That, plus the fact that he was such a likable person from the very start, gave me a first impression that probably will never go away. read more

I love love love this pharmacy! It really has the friendly, personalized, home town feel- the efficiency and friendliness are amazing. I have, on more than one occasion, been able to pick up my prescription within 15 minutes of it being called in! Usually at the big chain stores waiting on the line alone is 15 minutes! Ruth, one of the head pharmacists, I believe is AWESOME! She has been helpful and informative about adjunct medical therapies as well that have helped me above and beyond what my own doctor had first recommended. I used to think about supporting local businesses is such a great thing until maybe not.

It's friendly and welcoming, definitely more so than your average CVS or Walgreens. However, items there are often very expensive. I had switched my prescriptions from the awful West Newton CVS to Keyes, and at the time my insurance didn't cover the medication I was on. It was only about $25 without a prescription at CVS, and it was $50 at Keyes. The over-the-counter stuff is sort of pricey, too. I'd love to support a small business, especially when they're so much nicer than the people at the nearby CVS, but my pocketbook won't allow it. read more

This is a wonderful pharmacy. They know their customers/patients, offer caring, personalized service, and offer compounding for pets or people who need alternative forms of a medication (flavored liquid, transdermal, etc). I can call Keyes and speak with a pharmacist who knows who I am. They will special order whatever you need and go the extra mile to help. It is really important to support independent, locally-owned pharmacies. They are becoming a vanishing breed. The more people go to big chain or mail order pharmacies, the more independent pharmacies go out of business. Big chains/mail order are simply unable to offer the kind of personalized care that patients need. It may not seem important for a simple amoxocillin prescription, but if you or a loved one are ever really sick, a local pharmacist who knows you becomes a very important person in your life. read more

I have been a customer of Keyes Pharmacy for over ten years. I, as sad as it is to admit to, did use cvs. They made a mistake with my medication. They had dispensed the wrong dose of my medication. I was fast enough to notice that my medication was different. I called my local cvs to complain. I pointed out, what happened if this was one of my elderly patients and they never noticed, this could have been a life-theatening sutuation. Just think how many people would be affected? If fatal the family, the pharmacist and their family and so many other innocent people from one's person mistake. Every time I go to Keyes, I am greeted by a staffed member, with a generous smile on their face. You go to the counter and would you believe, 90% of the time they know your name and are on their way to get your prescriptions for you to check out. If you require assistance regarding medical equipment they are always available and helpful.( ace bandages, soft cervical collars, braces and many more items to choose from). All of the staff is very knowledgable about homeopathic therapies, I feel that the staff is very professional, and I always feel like the customer is #1 when I go in. Especially with: Ruth, Ramzi, Finya and Karim. If you really want that feeling of personalized service and a small town feeling, go to Auburndale, MA and meet the people that will make you feel better faster! read more

Our son's prescription is not covered by our insurance and a very sweet pharmacist at our local CVS recommended we check with Keyes to see if it's less expensive. Sure enough, it's $30 less and they mail it to our house! Every time I have called they are a pleasure to deal with. I would recommend them to anyone. read more

Keyes pharmacy is the way a pharmacy should be, but often isn't. On a quest to get some very expensive test strips, I was lucky enough to run into Andrew who made countless phone calls to various components of Medicare in an attempt to get them paid for. He was incredibly patient and good humored and really went the extra mile. Thank you, Andrew and thank you Keyes. Ive been going to this pharmacy my whole life, as with the rest of my family. Everyone who works there tries to remeber you by name, and makes you feel VERY welcome upon entering the store. Besides the pharmacy, there is a pretty good selection of various necessities. Prices are a little higher depending on your insurance and medication type. I prefer to support local business instead of big chains, so I tried using Keyes 3 or 4 times. The service is pretty lacking. Some of them don't speak or understand English very well, but no matter who is at the register, I know it will take them forever to find my prescription. Seems they have to look 5 or 6 places before they find it. on one occassion, the person working at the register, not a pharmacist, tried giving me instructions on using the medication I was picking up. I asked him to clarify why he was telling me something different than the doctor's instructions. Finally the pharmacist had to come down and tell him he was not giving me accurate information. Often, they are very short with customers. I get the impression they are overwhelmed. I would recommend double-checking anything you get there. Unfortunately I am not aware of any other independent pharmacy in the area. Would love if these guys would step up their game a bit. read more
