i get my medications and refills pretty fast i realy have no problems there it can get busy in genral most staff are polite they take the time if you have any other questions call backs are less then a hour covid shots and other vacines are in stock most time pharmcys deal with so many things cop payments rude custmers the place is clean no clutter nothing blocking areas all in all it works for me and realy no problems. i usually like going to this store. i really like Yoram and the rest of the staff has been helpful and friendly. i go to CVS to get a non generic drug that i need to function and they told me it was being filled in early december. i went to pick it up as im running out and will be traveling and the pharmacist Jain called another store for me to see if they have it. I went back today to confirm the address and make sure where it was and he was pretty rude and angry. There was a young man who helped me locate where the store was because i had to walk away from Jain he was so exasperated. He didn't want to admit or apologize for dropping the ball on my medication and was pissed that i'm back asking for directions. His behavior doesn't bode well for CVS and customer service. I'm not even sure he left my name with the other CVS. And i'm not sure i want to come back to that CVS which is convenient to my office to get my meds. read more

This is the second time I've had a bad experience at this CVS. I came to pick up a prescription, but the pharmacy tech told me they hadn't received it, even though my doctor confirmed it was sent. After waiting 20 minutes, the system crashed, and it took another 20 minutes to finally find it. I was already running late and ended up missing important plans. There are plenty of other pharmacies in town, and after today, I won't be coming back to this one again. read more

It just looks old, needs a serious cleaning and brighter lighting. Inventory issues cannot all be attributed to Covid when other CVS locations have the same items, right? We've used this branch for almost 30 years but think now it's time to change. I went in on Sunday to pick up the Sunday Globe. The employee had not brought the stack inside (it was 7.20a) and I carried it in, did some shopping then went to pick one up from the stand where she'd put it. I found the paper and then the Sunday supplement in two different areas, then the employee proceeded to tell me at great length they were TWO different papers and she would have to charge me accordingly. I tried to explain about the supplment with magazine, comics etc. but her speech was filled with "you don't understand". At one point a man came out from the side, closed in, office to stare, I asked him if he could resolve this, he shrugged and the staff woman said he didn't speak English (her own wasn't great but not too bad). I didn't feel safe with him standing there, though. Neither had on any CVS uniform or identification. When I pointed out finally there was no barcode on the Sunday Supplement the staff member finally conceded and I got out of there. Training? not much and this approach of the customer being absolutely wrong..esp about such a bizarre issue...time to look elsewhere. read more

I have been filling my prescription at Newton centre cvs for months now. They have given me the wrong dose twice and now a third time tried to again. After the first time I made sure they had the right dosing and they said they did and ordered the right one. I asked her to cancel the wrong dose that was on my profile. Next month, same thing happened. I called my doctor and confirmed she sent In the right prescription and dose (she sends in 3 months at a time). She confirmed she sent the correct dosage in and it's right on her end. This month I get an alert my Rx is ready and I check it online before wasting my time and driving to pick it up. It's wrong again. I call the pharmacy to get to the bottom of this. The three months should be a .5/.5/ 1.0 for each of the 3 months. The woman who answered (the pharmacist?) claims she doesn't have the right Rx that my doctor says is there, she only has a Rx for .5 for all three months. She has a condescending and nasty attitude. Despite them filling .25 (not my current Rx and hasn't been for months now) 3 times when she just confirmed they have the .5 Rx from doctor. So why are you filling the .25 and not the .5. Again she responds with an attitude "well, you didn't tell us which to fill". Yes I did. The first time you messed up I told the woman at the counter I no longer take .25 and my doctor sent in a new Rx. She said she cancelled the .25 and would fill in the .5 and let me know when it comes in to the pharmacy. They then refilled the .25 two more times! So why am I being given attitude when YOU messed up my prescriptions multiple times? I have communicated the issues kindly and respectfully and asked to have it fixed. I was told they were fixed. They were not. And I'm getting attitude? She said "well, I don't know what other people did"... well, I'm telling you! Figure it out. Apologize for messing up my prescriptions. Be a nice person? Very small and cramped. Aisles are always a mess. In addition, no self check out. The cashiers are either not at the register or it takes upwards of 7-8 min to check out 3 items because they move slower than sloths. If there's anyone ahead of you in line, good luck. There's a Walgreens down the street that is better by leaps and bounds if you just need a quick stop at a drug store. I would give no stars if possible. Called CVS in NewtonCenter, MA and received a recording that they have Covid test kits and that your insurance pays for them. Went in and was told I have to go on line first because there is a waiting list or submit the bill to my insurance. There have a 10 foot section full of test kits in front of the pharmacy. I wanted the test kit immediately and have Medicare so I did not even know how to submit it to Medicare for payment. They got me to pay $22.95 for two tests which is probably why they have this policy because they know you want it when you walk in. The absolute worst drug store chain in the country. Would never spend a penny there unless I have to. Prices are 35%-50% too high on all products and when they they offer a discount there usually is no product left on the shelf. read more

I normally go to cvs in Newtonville. Bright clean and stocked ...but had to come here for a script and omg-so filthy. The doors are broken and don't open electronically-the rug was disgusting and totally stained, and the store was messy. Im surprised corporate can't clean up this location. The positive was the pharmacy filled my script super fast and the tech that checked me out was very friendly and helpful. Needs a total makeover read more

I've been a customer for years. In recent times the pharmacy service levels are slow and below par for the industry and for what customers have come to expect. When I call, I'm on hold for over 12 minutes and the telephone connection quality is poor, like the equipment they use is not maintained. All of this gives me an impression that CVS is losing its focus on quality and customer service. Me and my family will look for either a different CVS store or a competitor for a better experience. read more

Honestly one of the worst CVS locations. It's pricier than other locations (even compared to Brookline!), and the staff are overall terrible. Definitely had a few positive interactions, but the overall customer service is just terrible...Location is convenient being in Newton centre, but I do not recommend coming to this location. It's an ok CVS for shopping, but in Newton at least, CVS prices are higher than Walgreen's, so wait for a sale or coupon if you can. But the pharmacy ... A few times they've been out of stock on a prescription refill but didn't say anything, so I didn't know until I called a day or two later to find out what was going on. When they do have the prescription, picking it up is like going to the RMV - the pharmacists are polite, but no more. Never a smile or have a nice day. The pharmacists at the CVS on Rt. 9 or the Walgreens at Four Corners have been much more pleasant. Another issue with this store is that they don't have a room for flu shots, etc., so you have to sit on a stool in front of the pharmacy counter - I think they have a little screen, but there's really no privacy. read more

CVS Newton Centre, I read the review that they don't pick up the phone. After seven minutes on hold I came to the same conclusion. I of course hung up, and asked to speak to manager. After a few lies and I don't knows I wasted more of my time calling another CVS. If you are calling this one, DONT waste you're time calling. It's true the phone is too advanced. I'd advise corporate to have a sensitivity training, Newtonites are pretty savvy, and don't believe you when you lie. Waited in line for 30+ minutes to give them my prescription. Then agreed to come back tomorrow since they were insanely busy and understaffed with only 1 pharmacist. Came back next morning and prescription had yet to be filled. Now waiting again. Just grossly understaffed to meet demand. I saw another person post about their medicine being out of stock at this CVS. That has happened to me too, but thankfully it hasn't happened in awhile. Just the insanely long wait. read more

I never thought I would love a convenient store so much, but the staff make it great. It obviously has the products you need at any convenient store, but the costumer service is +5 stars!!! Yoram and the staff their are both friendly are always looking out for you to make sure you get the best deals by using the right coupons. As some of you may know, the coupons given out at CVS can be complicated, but they do a good job guiding me through it to make sure I get the best price I can! Do not go to this CVS. The checkout service is terrible. I recently criticized them because the cashiers do not know how to use Apple Pay. Now they have self checkout but today that was broken. The CVSs on Route 9 in Newton Highlands and Route 9 in Chestnut Hill are 5 Star stores. But this CVS is terrible. This is the perfect CVS. Serving anyone walking Centre Street AND anyone who feels like making a leisurely drive down to the store as well! It has both a front entrance for Centre Street walkers and a back entrance with a parking lot for more suburban Newton-ite's. The store itself is large and serves the area with a clean, large, organized store with all the basic necessities and more. The store has wide aisles, lots of staff, and a wonderful photo area. Unfortunately, the prices are what's bad about this location. Even though all of the CVS stores have the same sales (or at least all in the same area do), I don't have any problems buying things on sale. The problem is that the regular prices are sky rocketed, and way too much. Yes, the Newton clientele is different than that of some other towns / cities, but it doesn't mean prices should be as high as they are. Walgreens on Langley Road consistently has better prices. I would suggest buying everything a good deal (or on sale) here, and going to Walgreens to get the rest of your stuff. Also, this is a great place to get photos developed in Newton.... The photo guy is super friendly and does a great job of keeping track of photos. Great pharmacy-like store in the area. 5 stars. read more

I am disable and I was using my two canes and didn't want to walk all the way around because I just wanted some change and there were also a bunch of people just standing around its covid19 and this store is small so I do not want to be that close to people. The woman at the cashier gave me a nasty attitude insisting that I go around I was like you do see that I have these canes right I don't want to walk all the way around past these people [ there was another cashier serving them ] I would just like some change and she was just being very nasty on some sort of power trip I didn't get her name or I would write it right here. But she has long brown curly hair and an accent is a very nasty inconsiderate person. Next time be observant and a lot more respectful or don't work in customer service. read more

Something is truly broken with this pharmacy. I tried three times to get a flu shot and literally could not get that accomplished without waiting "at least 45 minutes." Their lines are always down the aisle, regardless of day or time. They have incorrectly filled my prescription, shared my PHI with the person attempting to pick up my prescription, and had no reason or explanation for not filling a prescription. I can change pharmacies in January and will literally never set foot in this store again - even for a pack of gum. They are so woefully understaffed and indifferent to their customers it is deplorable. They have completely sold out. Shame on you, CVS. Oh, and I am currently 26 minutes into my 'on hold' time for the pharmacy to even pick up my call since I must speak to them because they never filled my prescription or contacted me. Incompetent Pharmacy. I have had non stop issues since moving to Newton and using this pharmacy. They have a such a reputation for being horrible that my Dr said "We always have issues with them, they never read the notes, refuse to fill some prescriptions, and don't understand how to use patient assistance cards". I dropped off a prescription on Monday where they noted they would need to contact my insurance, which is normal. I hadn't heard anything by Thrusday so I called and they said they had approval but were out of stock of the medication and that it would be ready for pickup on Friday or Saturday. Friday afternoon I get a robo-call saying they can't fill it because they need insurance authorization....... I get transferred over to a pharmacy team member; they hadn't contacted my insurance company or the Drs office since I dropped it off on Monday morning and apparently didn't plan to until I called to check on it. Sadly, this is a medication that I need to start ASAP as I have a followup to see how it is working in a few weeks. I doubt that I will be able be able to pick this prescription up before next Friday, a full 10 business days after dropping it off. read more

My insurance company decided to jack up my medication cost from $30 to $130 with no explanation given. Xiaoyan in the pharmacy took it upon herself to discover why and what could be done. She figured out that they had been overcharging me all along because I was taking tablets. When she switched my prescription to capsules the copay dropped to $3.60. I cannot even begin to explain how grateful I am to her, and so as long as she works there I could not recommend this CVS pharmacy more. read more
