It's got everything you really need here, which is great. It's well-lit, clean, and put together. Everyone here (from the people working the pharmacy to those working the registers) is fantastic and always super friendly whenever I come in. I like looking through the nail polish and makeup when I have the time. They also have a decent selection for drinks/beverages, so I like to grab the Redbull when I need a pick-me-up too. read more

The store itself is big, and clean. There is a big parking lot and it's right next to Whole Foods and a gas station which makes doing all your errands at once easy. The pharmacy is ok- the line is often very long. They are nice but it typically has not been a quick in and out experience for me. read more

They still do not care. Despite all the negative reviews management of this store has done nothing to improve their customer service. Getting a prescription filled here is akin to getting a root canal. They only have one pharmacy tech who disappears behind a wall for 5-10 minutes with every customer. There is usually a long line and it is like playing roulette to see if your prescription has been filled or not. The store is also filthy. read more

Stay away from this pharmacy unless you want to lose hours of your life. The longest lines and the slowest fulfillment that I have ever encountered at a pharmacy. You will routinely wait in line for 30 minutes only to get to the front and realize there is some "issue" with them fulfilling your order (even after being notified through their system that the order was ready). Transfers from another pharmacy (CVS) are a nightmare and they will blame any transfer issues on the other pharmacy. It takes DAYS. They will make you personally call the pharmacy to push the order through, and then claim they haven't received it. Then, because they "haven't received it", your order goes to the bottom of their queue!!! Rinse, repeat. A nightmare. Do yourself a favor and use another local pharmacy or the app Capsule that delivers. read more

I made a big mistake: I asked CVS in Newton Centre to transfer my 8 prescriptions to Walgreens. A week later the store in Newton Centre closed, and I was told the prescriptions would be transferred to this (horrible) Walgreens store on Beacon St. A month later only 2 of the prescriptions appear when I look on the web, plus one of SOMEBODY ELSE'S prescriptions. I went back to CVS and asked them if they could undo everything because Walgreens is a mess. That is not possible--I need to ask the doctors to rewrite all the prescriptions. read more

I rationed my medication so I could skip pick up last month. I can't even begin to explain how frustratingly understaffed this pharmacy location is. Wallgreens needs to figure out why no one wants to work at this location and fix it. The wait time ranges from 10 minutes to an hour depending how many people in front of you have an issue which always seems to be happening. Don't bother calling because they won't pick up. Every person who works here is doing their best and it shows but it's clear they need help. read more

This Walgreens is comically bad. Thankfully I was just there for a vaccine shot and not in a rush, because I was there for over an hour waiting. The pharmacy is comically disorganized. I watched customer after customer be given a different reason for why their prescriptions weren't ready: we didn't receive it from the doctor, we're out of stock, it will be ready later this week, can you wait 15 minutes, etc. Just excuse after excuse. Never seen a pharmacy this disorganized. read more

This is the worst pharmacy I have ever had to deal with. They don't answer the phone. Medications are never ready you come the next day to pick up the prescription and they always have some kind of excuse why the medication isn't ready. I don't understand what happened to this Walgreens. Maybe corporate isn't hiring? All I know that in the past 8 months they've gone from a fairly normal pharmacy (your doctor orders a prescription, the pharmacy fills it in a few hours, you pick it up, done), into a bizarre multi-day mess just to get anything filled. Don't bother calling as you'll wait on hold for over an hour and then get disconnected. Don't bother using the app, as it just shows an "estimated pickup time" that is over 30 hours in the past, but the prescription hasn't even been started yet. The only thing you can do is show up and just wait in the long line that snakes through the store. It's not even a question of not using them if you need something soon. You shouldn't use them if you need something at any point in the next week. read more

Incredibly inconsiderate staff. This location is clearly on the verge of closing and Walgreens seems to be giving up as a company.

Have shopped at Walgreens for many, many years and have always been happy with their service until now! I placed an order for delivery from the store on Washington Street in Newton. It was for two boxes of Pepperidge Farm cookies and 3 12 packs of Diet Coke. The driver only picked up and delivered one box of cookies. I spoke to the store manager who said he would refund my money. He didn't! The charges included the recycling charge, the delivery charge and a tip for the driver. REALLY! The manager also told me that since it was an e-commerce sale he could not do anything about it.. So, in the end, I ended up paying $30.05 for one box of cookies and that doesn't included the $4 in Rewards I was putting towards my purchase. The manager said that he would refund my money. Run away. Run very far away from this ghost town of a Walgreens. It is the "Twilight Zone" Walgreens. They never have a manager for the store. The 0one that took over sounds like she's 12 years old. The manager of the pharmacy provides false information about scripts. STAY AWAY! Find a CVS. read more

This is without a doubt, the worst pharmacy I've ever gone to. Clearly they are over worked and understaffed here. When I come in here and wait (forever) in line the rate of people I see actually leaving with their prescriptions is maybe 30% at best. read more

Despite 3 confirmations (via email and texts), this Walgreens location (1101 Beacon St., Newton, MA) did NOT have a vaccine available, when I had booked the vaccination 5 days in advance. I received no notice of this lack of vaccine. After waiting in line at the pharmacy for 10-15 minutes, I was simply told that they "didn't have it today." I understand that this may sound like a small issue, and that COVID-19 has disrupted supply chains, but I am very concerned for others who may have a life-threatening issue. It is not OK for a pharmacy to lack vaccine supplies and to cancel vaccination appointments without notice. read more

Very poor service. Since the Newton center Walgreens closed this store is overloaded. The wait to pick up my prescription was 45 minutes. There was only one person handing the register. There were also 15 people waiting for vaccinations. Just a nightmare. Also they said they were NOT doing deliveries anymore. read more

I have been going off-and-on to Walgreen's Pharmacy on Beacon Street Newton for many years. In my opinion, it is among the worst pharmacies I have ever dealt with. Though the staff is very polite and friendly, the pharmacy is grossly understaffed. The pharmacy hours have been cut back substantially, leading me to believe that the corporation is not willing to offer sufficient monetary and benefit incentives to attract new employees (I acknowledge that there is a shortage in that field). The lines inside are very long in the pharmacy. Additionally, the phone system is terrible, allowing a caller only certain choices among reasons why you may be calling; for me, oftentimes, my reasons for calling, not being among the choices. I have to trick the system to to get someone to pick up the phone. On a few occasions, someone has picked up the phone and immediately hung up. I've had prescriptions that were called in from my primary care office that Walgreens claimed were never received (I can't verify that they are correct, but, my doctor's office has strongly suggested that the prescription orders were previously sent over there; my physicians office going out of their way to re-verify the fax number with me; informing me of the date and time the order was sent. Someone on a neighborhood, online service suggested another rWalgreen's that was located nearby, recently closed. One would have assumed the employees would have moved to this one, but, I have never verified that the other, nearby one, closed. FYI, I have only been going to the Beacon Street Newton facility because my health insurance plan disincentivizes me, if I was to go elsewhere. There are much better pharmacies to be had locally, including a smaller, more more-and-pop facility, where I go for my vaccinations. When my health insurance is up for renewal, I plan on making the switch from Walgreen's, because I believe my insurer has negotiated with another large pharmacy chain, for me to use that one. I wish it was the neighborhood chain, which has a facility in Newton Centre, and is opening one up in Newton Highlands, from what I understand. Stay away from Walgreen's, if you can, unless you are willing to put up with potentially, similar service! read more

I was just waiting on hold for 30 minutes and just as I was about to be connected they dropped the call when I have gone there in person I've had to wait at least 20 minutes to even get to the pharmacist. I know we're in a pandemic but I would hope after waiting 30 minutes on the phone call would not get dropped! read more

I am writing a review because of an incident I witnessed on November 20th. A woman, wearing dark sunglasses in the very well lit store, decided she did not like waiting for her prescription at the pharmacy. There seemed to be an issue with her prescriptions, which a pharmacist was trying to resolve. Apparently they only had one and not the other. She decided she did not want to wait anymore (which was only 5-8 minutes) and started demanding to pay for the prescription they were able to get. Ultimately, they were able to get both. When they asked her for ID, she went bananas. She didn't want to give her ID. She started swearing at another pharmacist for no reason. Then she stomped off. Mind you, I'm behind another woman in line, who saw this craziness. By the time I got my prescription and was leaving, she was in the front complaining to the manager about waiting and being asked for ID. During these crazy times, is it necessary to act out like this? Is it that serious? This review is for the pharmacists, who remained calm, cool, and were able to still provide good customer service to an unreasonable, unhinged person. I might not have been so nice. This location is terribly understaffed. I went for a COVID shot and had an appointment for 4:30. I did not have a needle in my arm until 6. They had one line for script pick up and vaccines, and I waited in it for an hour. Once I got to the front, I checked in and they said I had to wait for the pharmacist to print the forms. 15 minutes later, I got the forms to fill out and then it took so much more time for me to be seen by the pharmacist. Pharmacist was pleasant but that is the only redeeming quality of this place. read more

Wallgreens staff is my therapist. I love them. They give me advice for my recent divorced. However, I was very upset by this one lady. She told me that they didn't have any squishmallows when they did. Other than that, I love wallgreens. read more

The store is a mess. Online orders are not filled while they say they are ready. Pharmacy does not fill when ordering by phone. Long lines to pharmacy. They do not pick up the phone. I have been on hold to the pharmacy and cannot reach them for about 40 min. Even CVS refused to transfer a prescription from them because they are not reachable. Badly understaffed and not equipped to function. read more

Horribly run business. They don't answer phone calls . On hold for 20 minutes and they hang up. You can never get through to talk to anyone. Constant long lines to pick up prescriptions 5 - 10 people all day long. Totally understaffed. No manager in the store. Repeated mistakes with insurance. Worst pharmacy ever. Had to wait for a prescription for longer than they said after they should have had it ready. They also said they could find my insurance while I waited but they didn't and then I had to pay full price because their customer specialist couldn't figure it out nor did she communicate the issue she was having. The place is clean, well-lit, and I don't feel like I'm about to be stabbed when I walk outside. While sad that the not-being-stabbed is a key differentiator, it really is. Walking into most other CVS or Walgreens, or *shudder* Rite-Aid, and this really is a novel concept. The pharmacy tends to be pretty solid, however food-wise they could stand to have a few less sodas, and a few more other things. read more

While it may seem like overly gracious, giving Walgreens five stars, this one definitely deserves it. Now, if you have not been to the Newton Highlands location throughout the past three years or so, I would definitely agree that this place used to be GROSS. The building was disgusting and the store was tiny. Until about a year ago, I did not even know they did a renovation (I thought they never would as the City of Newton allows NOTHING. No plastic bags, drive thrus, and barely any construction.... thank GOD I don´t live here!). Anyway, the store is gorgeous. It basically brand new (even though they did not completely demolish the building) and super clean, organized and well stocked. While their are very few discount stores in the area, this one had some great deals on everyday items... much more than the high prices at CVS on Route 9 (I shop there only because it can be convenient and is also just as beautiful). Shelves are well stocked and no sections were picked over. This location specifically has a giant Halloween supply and candy section, as well as a state of the art photo lab. Pharmacy was not busy and aisles are wide. Employees are friendly..... but this place does get busy! It´s definitely time to call another cashier when the line is three or more people... good thing I did not have to wait (literally I came up and then everyone got in line within thirty seconds). Great store for a pharmacy or any general products. Good prices and decent variety. Huge store for any pharmacy in a city, like Newton. Definitely superior to the one in Newton Center. read more

I love this Wallgreens. It has everything and the pharmacy crew is terrific! Lilly, one of the pharmacy leads is seriously the best. I had gotten laid off and was without health insurance and Lilly showed me this incredible app ( GoodRx) which shaves a lot of money of the cost of a script. Over the past couple of months she literally saved me hundreds of dollars. The rest of the team is awesome there too. Fast, friendly, smart and they go out of their way to help you out. read more

This place is the s*&^, and by s*&^, I mean don't come here. Too much crap in a small store means narrow aisles, of which the ADA could have a field day with, loaded so high with crap, yeah, you are afraid that a turn in the wrong direction could cause an avalanche. Yes I worked here in my teens, this place and the newton center store. Both are crap. Once you find your stuff, you get incompetent workers who either are sweating all over you or so special and slow, well you wonder why you even bothered coming here. read more

This Walgreens location received a makeover about two years ago and now it's quite the nice place! I always come here when nearby restaurants are preparing my food and I need a place to kill time, maybe buy something just for the sake of buying something. Certainly a convenient location, always seems to have low foot traffic. Perhaps the workers, while friendly and helpful, seem bored and talk loudly to one another to pass the time. I think they may forget customers can hear them? Neither here nor there. I like this place. I like it a lot. read more

Scheduled a COVID booster shot at this store two weeks in advance and was frankly stunned by how poorly run the entire operation was. I was asked online to print out paperwork and bring it with me, filled out, but when I arrived at the pharmacy, I stood there alone at the counter for ten minutes before anyone even noticed me. When I showed them my paperwork for the appointment, they said I didn't need it, and another 20 minutes passed before they handed me other paperwork which was the EXACT same information from the form they didn't want. Then, after turning in my new paperwork at the desk, I waited another 20 minutes for someone to give me my shot. Then they said to wait 5 minutes and they'd give me back my immunization card with the new info on it, but 15 minutes later I was still waiting and finally got in line again to remind them I was there. Finally, I left the pharmacy about an hour and 15 minutes after I arrived. When I got my first and second shots at CVS, the whole thing took 15 minutes, start to finish, both times. Walgreen seems not to know how to do this. Every single step took forever. It was incredibly frustrating, did not inspire any confidence that the shot I even got was the right one, and I'm just grateful I didn't have to be anywhere urgently, because I'd never have made it on time. read more

Very poor customer service despite being a loyal shopper. It's in a convenient location and I've moved my family medications to the pharmacy too. Most of the employees are very nice. I buy everything from groceries to toiletries and holiday items. But I tried to get help with a gift card that didn't work even though I had the receipts (including the small one). I spend a lot of money at this store, almost weekly, and he had the chance to make it right but instead made me want to never shop there again. Really short-sighted, and unbelievable that it's better to risk losing a loyal customer than to make it right. read more

The cashiers are unbelievably impolite, especially the one I think is the store manager (a man with a deep skin tone who wears glasses). I come to this store a lot and almost every time I leave feeling bothered by their rudeness, but today was the last straw. I came in with my mom, who is Chinese and she doesn't speak much English. She wanted to use her Walgreens card but since the cashier didn't ask for it like they normally do, she went ahead and inserted her credit card. I asked the cashier if she could use her Walgreens card and he said loudly in an exasperated tone to punch in her phone number first next time and finished bagging our items. My mom, however, did not understand and hesitated a little bit. At that, the cashier near-yelled, "THAT'S IT" and shoved the bag towards her. This man showed zero patience for a non-English speaker and even had the nerve to yell at her. Also, note that there was one other person in line behind us, not a whole crowd, so there was no need to be so impatient. As an adult, I've noticed that cashiers have a tendency to do this to her, and I know for a fact that he wouldn't have gotten so exasperated and yelled at her if she were Caucasian. If it wasn't for the pandemic going on, I would go back there and open a formal complaint. I am deeply bothered by this and no one in my family is ever going back to this store again. read more

I am living near the store, and I'm customer of Walgreens for years. Today I was trying to drop two Fedex packages with already packaged parcels and corresponding labels on it. The only what I needed is to drop it and receive two confirmations via text on my cellphone. The customer assistance manager with name Radha was very rude. She said that I have to wait while she will process all the boxes for Fedex guy, and only then she will scan my packages. I waited when she will process all those boxes. Then she scanned both my boxes, but I received only one confirmation message. I asked to do it separately because each box was costing about $350 and I didn't want to have one of them to be lost. She said that she will not do it because then my packages will be definitely lost. Afterwards she said if you don't like it, go to Fedex office directly. I love Walgreens, and usually I have never had any problems there. But this service is unacceptable! The woman was yelling on me, and behaved very disrespectful in front of all customers. I hope that I would never have such experience in a future. If she doesn't like her job, there are always someone who might care more about customers and would never treat people in such ways. read more

Wow, I hate to write bad reviews, but this place is a piece of work. I think the staff could use a lot more training when it comes to customer service. I've been here twice and both times I felt like I was bothering them by asking for help. I would have given it two stars, but it's a nice store, in a great location and parking is easy. I just get the cold shoulder whenever I'm there. If they can work on being a little friendlier, this place would be a LOT better. read more
