Worst CVS I have been to. Everything is locked up and staff is unfriendly. An experience I had a few months ago was a security guy stopping me at the door and asking to see my receipt for the two Celsius and pack of protein bars I had bought. When I said I didn't have it (the self checkout machine didn't print it, but I had paid), he said I couldn't leave until he saw proof of purchase. He walked me back over to self checkout and got another staff member, who at first tried to make me pay again for the items I had already purchased. When I told him that, he went through the machine history and reprinted it. Meanwhile the security guard told me "be patient princess", which I found incredibly condescending. I would recommend any poc especially to stay away from this store. read more

It's a nice CVS, large store with a minute clinic. I was surprised to find that the pharmacy wasn't open when we were there. My biggest complain is just how expense every item is and the fact that the app has completely different prices than the store. The staff who was working was nice and helped me find my item. read more

June 2023: 2: I stopped by this location to return some medication at the take back box that each pharmacy should have at any of their locations. I found that this location does not have one and directed me to another location. Several miles away has one of two locations in this immediate area that has one. This was supposed to be a standard for all pharmacies some time ago and I'm confused as to why this pharmacy has not complied with that standard. I was assisted while in the store by capable and professional workers but there is no excuse for not having a take back safe in this store pharmacy. read more

App says you have two days to pick up medicine so I come the next the next day. They've already put the medicine back and need to refill it. No explanation why their messaging system is wrong. I only find out this info after standing in a long pick up line and then finally get to the person and he says you have to go see the drop off person to find out why your medicine can't be picked up. Are they not looking at the same computer system?? Really uncaring and curt. Avoid this pharmacy if you can. Long lines, rude staff. Oh. Pharmacy also doesn't open till 9am. Nice surprise when tried to pick up in the morning before then. This is the second try in one day. read more

Date not recorded. After having great assistance from the Pharmacist, I was directed to check out. I have never given an evaluation such as this! If I had the authority, I would have terminated Naomi on the spot. She began eating something as she approached me. She proceeded to eat, talk and drop crumbs during the checkout process. At one point she did cover her mouth with a piece of paper. I commented that she should refrain from eating when she is helping a paying customer. She did not recall eating. She really did not seem to be aware of what she was doing or why she was doing it. Her behavior concerned and frightened me. I WILL NOT PURCHASE ANY OF MY MEDICATIONS AT THIS OR ANY OTHER CVS. My eyes! This must be one of the brightest CVS / Walgreens, that I have ever visited! You can definitely tell this place has been renovated as all of the shelves are glimmering with what seems like Hi-Def lighting. I love how unlike other CVS locations the aisles are actually reasonably spaced apart. The inside of the store is huge compared with most other locations I've been to! Everything is neatly organized and easy to find. I mostly come here to pick up my prescriptions because it's so darn easy to just stop in on my way home from work. (Especially if I need to do some other chores like stop by the ATM, get some take out from Green Tea, and fill up on gas.) When I host parties I also take care to mention the CVS for guests if they forget to bring any food. All of the employees I've encountered have been friendly and helpful. I don't shop the deals or keep track of these extra care bucks since I do most of my regular shopping at the grocery store. The prices are noticeably more expensive, but that's to be expected since in the end it is a convenience store located right next to the Eliot T stop and along Rt. 9. I'm just happy that the shopping experience is much more pleasant than any other location I've been to. read more

Went here for passport photos. No staff around, went to cashier who said he'd help me. Waited 15 min, he never came back, and no one else was on the floor (only staffed by cashiers). Go elsewhere for fast passport photos. read more

Other CVS pharmacies are very good. But this one has a rude, unhelpful pharmacist. I would recommend going elsewhere. I went for a COVID vaccine and although the front door says walk-ins welcome and the pharmacy was entirely clear of customers and it had my vaccine in stock, it refused to vaccinate me. read more

This pharmacy used to be ok, but now ridiculously bad. Called to refill prescriptions but they have this horrendous system whereby you can't get anyone on the phone nor can you order a refill unless you kNow the Rx number. My prescriptions were "in process," which apparently has no meaning. So I press the number to speak to the pharmacy, spent a total of 40 minutes on hold during two calls, never got to a human being. Customer service horrendous. I will find another pharmacy immediately. read more

Kudos and many thanks to the CVS Pharmacy at this location! Today I received an incorrect quantity to my prescription and was overbilled my co-pay which I unfortunately didn't realize until I got home late. I called (grumpy) and explained my situation at 8:54pm to the pharmacist on the phone, which was just 6 minutes before the pharmacy closes. He told me he would have to sort it out in the morning because they were closing up. 30 minutes later, at 9:25pm (or 25 minutes after their pharmacy area had closed) the pharmacist called me back! Not only has he figured out the billing mistake and the health insurance mixup and the issue with quantity, but he's ordered a refund and set aside the right amount needed to complete my prescription. They are ready and waiting for me. Staying late, dealing with my headache after hours... and then calling me, explaining what happened, and fixing the problem to make right a wrong... that's REAL customer service! I want to specify that this is the CVS on Route 9 in Newton Highlands. One star is too good. I have change my opinion of this store. I went to this store for my COVID booster. The people behind the Pharmacy counter told me to "wait over there". I sat by the minute clinic for 20 minutes. Then a customer told me to "wait by the COVID vaccination booths". 10 minutes later another customer told me that I had to sign in at the Pharmacy. 30 minutes wasted. I complained and the Pharmacists could care less. "I just got here" or some such excuse. After I left the store I went over to my Doctor's offices at the nearby hospital and moved all my prescriptions away from CVS to another pharmacy. If I am lucky I will never have to go into a CVS again as long as I live. read more

I went to CVS' Minute Clinic and paid out of my own pocket IN FULL for the visit and tests -- came back negative for mono and strep btw. A few months later I get another bill from Quest Diagnostics for the very same tests I already paid for. CVS wouldn't help, Quest Diagnostics wouldn't help, BBB couldn't help. Now filing complaint with Consumer Affiars. CVS refuses to help me -- they took my money just fine though. In fact, the PA wouldn't even take my throat culture and blood until I wrote the check for everything -- which is fine, if only they didn't then allow their contracted lab the opportunity to try to be paid twice. I cannot believe CVS gave my personal information to Quest Diagnostics and won't help protect me from Quest Diagnostics' notorious double-billing practices. CVS does business with these people and do nothing to protect us -- until CVS stops this practice, I highly recommend using anyone but CVS Minute Clinic. Worse, I actually had whooping cough at the time of the visit. I was sick for another 6 weeks. All in all, terrible experience and I'm still paying with stress and time spent trying to protect myself from CVS and their buddy Quest Diagnostics. read more

Odette, your continued miserable disposition and less than helpful personality has motivated this review. On multiple visits you have been downright rude when I've asked for help locating items or asked about using coupons. Everyone would be better served if you were not in the customer service field. That being said, I've always like this CVS location for its large and bright space. Since the recent renovations there isn't a good flow in the stores and some items seem like they are located in odd places. Maybe this will change once they complete the renovation. Often, I find the products I'm looking for are out of stock. Hopefully management will consider hiring customer oriented staff and order enough products so that items are not constantly out of stock! read more

Went to this minute clinic two separate times and the same nurse practitioner turned me away for the exact same lab services I've had done at two other separate locations before many times. If you don't want to do your job just say it . I spent 60 dollars in transportation to be told she didn't want to do a simple urine test when I've had it done at other minute clinics before without hesitation. This is my CVS of choice! I get all of my prescriptions filled here. The sales associates are friendly. Jasmine in the pharmacy is the best! She always addresses me when I'm in the pharmacy area and it seems she's always there! The layout of the store is similar to many of the larger CVS stores and is easy to find things. HUGE CVS Pharmacy on Route 9 in Newton Highlands. This CVS Pharmacy has a lot of advantages and few disadvantages, which makes it very appealing to me, especially now, as today was my first visit and definitely not last. First, the disadvantage (yes, only ONE!): Parking lot. Yes, this location is not far from Boston where there are basically NO parking lots, but over in my direction (Westwood), and all of the other surrounding areas (like Needham, Wellesley, etc, etc), have parking lots and for this store the parking lot for this store is RIDICULOUS! Trash all over, and in-need of Repave. For the MULTIPLE advantages to the store: Huge. This CVS is the largest location throughout the surrounding area, from all of the other locations I've been to. Crowds: Not crowded, at least today, on a SATURDAY(!!!!) it wasn't, this advantage to the store alos means there aren't any long checkout lines, which I appreciate to not waste time, and when others are in a rush, who really cares about waiting! Organization & Remodel: This CVS must have either came into Newton Highlands remodeled, or it recently got one (since it only opened about 4 years ago, after HomeGoods closed... yes this WAS a HomeGoods!! It's that big), since it looks identical to my favorite local CVS I have on Providence Highway in Dedham, yet this store is bigger. Plus it is organized, and items are not just thrown around and on rusted shelves. And friendly staff: The cashier was extremely friendly as well as another floor employee who asked if I needed help during the trip. Overall, great CVS, and in comparison to other Newton CVS Stores.... 75,000x better than the terrible, tiny CVS on Needham Street. read more

Worse flue vaccine service ever. I am a long customer of CVS in Newton and checked website for flu shot since I am traveling and it said appointment or walk-ins. I stopped by CVS on Route 9 in Newton on Sunday October 16 around 2 pm to see if they can take me as walk -in. The pharmacy was totally empty no one at all getting prescriptions or vaccinations. 3 ladies behind the register talking chatting. I asked for a vaccine they said the policy was appointment only. I asked the Pharmacist one of the ladies for it she said they have appointments all day long but for the 15 minutes that they were denying me the shot no one was there at all and I said it would take few minutes one of the other girls said that they only have vaccines enough for appointment but not sure I believe that. The pharmacist asked me to show her where it says walk- ins, I did not have my phone but went outside and my husband came inside with phone and showed her the web site. My husband started questioning it and the tone change a bit. They were trying to see if they have cancelation so they can take me but still did not offer the shot and still no one was in the pharmacy. It was empty the entire time!!!! I left very disappointed with non-professional attitude and service. How could anyone trust that team to administer any kind of vaccine? read more

Went to pick up my prescription, they sent me to drop off (mind you- it's already dropped off) just to send me back and tell me to wait 40 minutes (after I got a text saying "your prescription is ready!). Very rude about it as well!!! Everyone in line was PISSED at them!!!! Couldn't do anything right!!!! Went to the minute clinic at 6:20pm for my child since it said it's open till 7pm. Used the screen to sign my child in and was turned away. The screen basically said that they cannot take the patient since it is close to closing hours. If you are NOT opened till 7pm, SAY SO. 40 minutes for one patient should have been plenty of time to see. You wasted our time, and I had to drag my ill child to another location because of this. we went to another urgent care and had a good experience so will be going there from now on. Visited with my son to buy a cleaning product, which btw, was WAY overpriced. The price of convenience. The asiles are wide, there was hardly anyone in the store, and my son started skipping down the asile... A woman, "Marianne", apparently the beauty mgr. sqwaked at my son, and told him 'no running in the store'. He immediately stopped, but as he pointed out.. He wasn't running. Sorry, but I am tired of people interfering and being mean to kids. Unless you know what the F you are talking about, don't say a word. Some of us actually do parent our kids. If my son was running, I would put an end to it immediately. I'm not one to turn a blind eye, and I believe in absolute respect, but Marianne finds it necessary to b%tch at little kids. Kids also need to be kids. I wonder if she treats the elderly the same way. She is totally the fun police. read more

I just visited here again tonight and complimented the staff on how helpful and nice they always are. This CVS is fairly new and sits along Route 9 in Newton right after 128. The place is very bright and roomy inside and has plenty of parking outside in a large lot. It is set up differently then most CVS and takes a little getting used to, but I love shopping here. The staff all look like mostly students, but are the nicest staff in a CVS I have ever seen. Most I go to the staff barely talks to you, but this one is awesome. Once you visit here, you won't enjoy going to any other CVS!! read more

Always great service, especially from Gordon in the front store as well as the pharmacy! Also had a great experience with the minute clinic-- the wait time was very short (less than 5 minutes), and the nurse was extremely helpful, professional and kind. They even took my insurance (I didn't think they would) and sent my prescription over to the pharmacy in no time. Was in and out in about an hour-- so much better than other urgent care places I've visited! Glad this is an option and close by. read more

This is a review for the Minute Clinic. I went at 10am on a Sunday and visited Pat. The wait time at 10 am: There was none as I was the first one there. You can't put your name in their wait list kiosk until the clinic is open. In the time it took me to sign up, another person showed up behind me. The kiosk estimates that your wait time will be 20 minutes for each person ahead of you and there is the option to receive a text when there is only 30 more minutes to wait, meaning you can leave and come back, which was important to me because.... The wait time at 11 am: I forgot an important document at home and had to leave to retrieve it. I signed myself back into the queue (at this point there were 2 people in front of me) before I left and later received a text letting me know my name would be called in 30 minutes. The text notification is definitely great since you can sign up, leave to entertain yourself, but then get back in time. Pat, the registered nurse: She is awesome! Super nice, humorous, and very professional. Cleanliness: The waiting area was very clean, with lots of hand sanitizer and optional face masks, though granted I was there early in the day. No idea how it is after a busy day. The room where I saw Pat (the nurse) was very very clean and Pat was constantly wiping down everything. The rest of the store was very well lit and clean as well. Service level: Again, it was all very professional - I could've sworn I was at an actual doctor's office. It may be a minute clinic but they give you all the time you need to properly address your aches, pains, etc. Overall: A great experience - I would happily visit this clinic again. read more

I tried calling the pharmacy on Saturday, June 29th and waiting on hold for 20minutes. I just call again, July 1, 2019 and again was on hold for 22 minutes, with a recording saying "a pharmacist will be right with you. Terrible, horrible experience when you need to talk to a pharmacists, no one answers the phone. I called back and asked to speak to a store manager, and the person that answered the phone said there was no manager on duty. He then put me through the automated phone on hold system and again waited. Now the pharmacy is closed for the night. read more

Nice CVS overall, convenient parking, large selection of merchandise, friendly cashiers. Today however I encountered a very rude manager to my great surprise. Looks like they were short stuffed, and he came out to help at the cash registers. Really bizarre, I'd rather spend few more minutes in line than to be treated the way he apparently treats customers. Perhaps he is a good manager, but I hope I will never see him at the cash registers again. read more

This place is CVS perfection. I had been going to the small, dark, and crowded CVS on Needham Street for several years so I was especially blown away by how large, bright, and well organized this location is. As soon as you walk in you notice that the shelves are not overly tall, the aisles are wide, and it is immaculate. I have yet to look for a sale item and find that it is not in stock. I also use the pharmacy and found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. The cashiers are also very friendly and they are quick to open up another register when a line forms. The parking lot, once you get used to the weird configuration of entrances and exits onto Route 9, is very large and parking is never an issue. Once you go here all other CVS franchises will just leave you disappointed. read more

Sorry to bust the shiny happy bubble on this CVS, but I have to report that this pharmacy shorted my girlfriends pain medication. only got 40 vicodins (hydrocodone) on a 50 count prescription. She noticed fairly quickly after taking the meds for her broken wrist that the count was smaller than she expected. Sure enough, after doing the math, they shorted 10 pills. I called to report the incident this morning and the pharmacist said he would look into the situation, but I am not expecting anything out of it. After a little research, I am seeing that this is a VERY common problem with both sides pointing the finger at eachother. Customer has no actual proof that the pills were short since they didn't actually count them before taking the prescription out of the store and the pharmacist has to assume that the customer is lying to try and get some free narcotics. I can see both sides to the argument, but in this case I have first hand knowledge of one side of the argument. The store shorted the pills. I will revise my rating if the pharmacist surprises us with a call back and an apology, but right now I am planning to file a police report with Newton P.D. I am not comfortable with drugstore cowboys working behind the counter at a reputable pharmacy. read more

Horrible customer service. I would give rating 0 if I could. Usually, I never complain, I always give everyone benefit of the doubt. My experience was so bad that I couldn't find ANYTHING that I could explain the staff's uncaring and insensitive behavior in pharmacy department. I just needed a simple flu shot and after registering I was told to sit down and wait for my name to be called. That is what I did. I waited for about 30 minutes. Within this time, I asked a few times if anyone called my name. I was curious because there were no customers waiting for a flu shot. I was told to wait for my turn. The staff was very irritated, they yelled that I did not register (I did register) and I am waiting in a wrong chair. I was sitting 10 feet away from pharmacy, nobody told me that I needed to register again and I am sitting in a wrong chair. There are no signs where the flu shot waiting chairs are. Wow!!! I will NEVER come back!!! read more
