Last Friday was probably the second time I have ever used this pharmacy. I have been so…read moredisappointed with the CVS and Walmart in this area with poor inventory and turnaround times. I had a good experience the first time so I hoped for the best! I had a somewhat urgent prescription needing to filled, especially as I was about to head out of state for a week. Tracey was kind, but told me that they didn't have my prescription in stock and they would order it for Monday; unfortunately, I was unable to wait two more days and they suggested I call to other pharmacies in the area to see what their inventories were and Big Y would transfer the prescription to them. I was disappointed and thought I would be spending the rest of the afternoon navigating different pharmacies. I was still at the store a few minutes later picking up a few other things and contemplating the rest of the day's logistics, when Tracey began calling my name from down the aisle. She found me in the store and told me she had called and found the prescription at CVS Walpole! I was so happily stunned that (1) she called to find the medicine somewhere else and she'd transferred the prescription and (2) she walked around the store to look for me and let me know after I missed her call on my cell. These extra steps saved me a ton of effort and time. I very, very much appreciate this kindness and effort!!

I transferred my pharmacy business to Big Y Pharmacy 5+ years ago because the customer service at CVS was so consistently atrocious. The only reason I went today was because my doctor accidentally sent my prescriptions there instead of Big Y. This gave me the opportunity to see if anything had improved over the past 5 years. It did not. Still long lines, still customer service reps who seem bitter and put out instead of welcoming, caring and helpful. There was a problem with one of my prescriptions and instead of taking care of it right away I was told to come back in two hours. When I explained that I had a ride and couldn't come back in two hours because I can't drive because I was under anesthesia earlier today I was told, "Sorry, we're about to close the pharmacy for lunch." Seriously??? Management can't figure out a way to rotate staff through lunch breaks so the pharmacy can stay open 24/7 as advertised. That really is false advertising. It should say open 23/7. I know CVS is a big enough chain that my opinion won't matter. They are so big and their customer base is too lazy to seek out better options so CVS will simply remain another terrible cog in the whole corrupt healthcare industry. I will just quietly go back to Big Y Pharmacy where all the pharmacists are friendly, caring, know me by name and are familiar with my prescription history. That's how a business should work!

So, ultimately, my point is that I always hesitate to actually spend a lot at any store like this anymore... because eventually a coupon will come out for almost anything. With that said, if I need something quickly and out of the blue, I don't mind actually buying it. Anyway, between all the drugstore chains in the area (Rite Aid, CVS, and Walgreens), Walgreens never has the best deals. They do have the lowest regular prices, but when it comes to sales every week, CVS outnumbers them every week. I also don't like that every time I seem to use coupons here, they enjoy giving me a problem with the coupons. With that said, they weren't being very friendly about it here at the start, and now they are getting much better. While I still prefer how other stores give me even less of a hassle (in Needham, management doesn't even need to come over to manually enter a coupon), the management team here is friendly and extremely helpful for whatever I need (and it doesn't seem to be only me...). While not my favorite location of Walgreens, in general, people are friendly, they generally have the items I'm looking for, and you can guarantee they will have a ton of cool, awesome stuff for cheap (sometimes up to 90% off!) right after any holiday, which is something that doesn't happen as often at CVS or Rite Aid. This specific store is also generally well stocked, organized and clean as well. 4 stars overall. Could be better, but since it's close it works for me.

From Brooks, to Rite Aid, and now to Walgreens in only ten years, they have spent thousands just to keep changing the name. Since Walgreens is such a large company, I'm hopeful it won't change again. The pharmacy is phenomenal here as is the front end staff. Drive thru pharmacy has just gotten more efficient over the years. Store is always fully stocked (and now, it's so much cleaner and more open since the recent renovation from Rite Aid to Walgreens), organized, and user friendly. Shelves are always fully stocked and I think this is the ONLY pharmacy I've been to that doesn't have stains all over the carpet. Only complaint is that since the change from Rite Aid to Walgreens, everything in the store has moved and I don't know where anything is! I guess in a few months I'll be used to the new layout, but they should have aisle directories or something! John, the store manager, is also super friendly and very receptive to any concerns that customers have. He definitely goes above and beyond to please everyone, and does a considerably better job than many other store managers. Other staff here are hit or miss. Some are friendly, kind and helpful.... others need to retire! Overall, this place is close to my house and while I will always miss the better promotions and Plenti card that Rite Aid has to offer those days are now over. Could definitely be much worse.
