Welp- I'm giving one star as a congratulations for finally deciding to 'officially' become a non-24 hour CVS. For years now, they've claimed to be 24 hours only to show up and be walking in just to have an employee run over and lock you out, giving you a shrug and "we're closed, no staff" ‍. Super inconvenient, and even worse if you are sick and trying to get some NyQuil at 2 AM after tossing and turning with a cold for 4 hours. It's almost cruel if you've been in that position, or worse with a sick little one. Looks like hours were updated here on Yelp, but the big CVS sign out front still says 24/7, same with some GPS systems and browsers (and same with the local people who have known it to be 24 hours for their whole lives!). So just a warning, if you need a 24 hour CVS, I think Watertown is the closest option (depending on where you live). I guess it's not a bad thing they made this decision because now I have no reason to go here (I only ever went late night out of necessity and convenience being 24/7). Still understaffed as ever, still has the one employee who follows me around the whole time I'm there (as I sing my remix, "every step I take, every breath I take, you'll be watching meeee" in my head), but when I actually need help, god forbid he comes over without me begging him! He'll try to tell me "you need to come to the counter to check out the machine broken" when it's clearly not and that's not the issue I'm having...I've literally had to ask THREE times for him to just please come help me when I put my item on the scale bagging area too quickly, not quick enough, etc and just need an employee override code to finish my purchase. If you're going to follow me around and watch my every step, fine, but I at least expect you to anticipate when I'll need help & be there in a heartbeat- I can feel your breath on my neck as is! Oh, if I could give a half star, I'd give 1.5 stars JUST because of the super, super sweet older woman who has been working nights recently. She makes my day! And, she was nice enough to go out of her way to inform me of the stores new hours prior to the change, which happened quickly & with no notice. She's the real MVP. Keeps a positive attitude despite the walls caving in and the place burning to the ground- likely to catch her making an unexpectedly witty joke about it being 'lit' as the place goes up in flames around us. Will remind you to stay safe & have a great night but not to worry about her- the fires keeping her warm, anyway. She'll likely want to go through all your new coupons with you and show you which ones match up with a weekly ad deal once your done & you didn't hit "print" quick enough, so you end up with a 6 foot receipt, though, so in case of fire, take the receipt and run. read more

Simply the worst run pharmacy. Always under staffed and what staff they have are poorly trained and managed. If you like waiting in line for extended periods of time or waiting on hold for up to 45 mins, and then be told a simple prescription will take another hour, this is your pharmacy. Otherwise, go anywhere, absolutely anywhere else!!! read more

The line to pick up at pharmacy was 15 people deep with one pharmacist. They ended up bringing another cashier from the front of the store to help ring. When I asked if I could use the bathroom, the new manager said I couldn't. Which I'm used to before I was allowed to use the bathroom if I asked since I was a customer, I had to wait 45 minutes to get my prescription that was already waiting for me. read more

The pharmacy at this location is always short staffed. I understand that must be awful, but you can't play with people's medications. There is also a mean staff member that works there. It's sad when you can tell when someone hates their job. This location is supposed to be 24 hours, but they close whenever they want to. They told me over the phone they were not going to fill my prescription and were just going to close down. I needed the script asap. I was terrified. It also takes an hour to get through to them on the phone. I wasn't feeling up to driving over there and was going to pay for same day delivery. I tried to get it transferred to another CVS and no one could transfer it because it said it was in progress in the system. All that took another hour. I finally had to just drive over there and found out the medication had actually been filled. The person on the phone didn't bother to look for it. They just checked the system which was not getting updated in a timely fashion. I made it 5 minutes before they were shutting down even though they are supposed to be 24 hours minus their 1 hour lunch break. Somebody else in line needed medication for their sick child and was told sorry they just can't get to it. This CVS is my default and I must remember to tell my doctors to send my scripts somewhere else if I need them right away. read more

Wow-by far the worst cvs I've ever had to go to, and I've been to many. Stayed on hold for 2 hours until 10pm, & the pharmacy closed. NO, they are NOT open 24 hours, NO, the drive thru is not open, YES, it takes forever to pick up your prescription in the store b/c the line is extremely long and slow (no drive thru, remember?) Hire more people!! I feel bad for the poor 2 sales people who have to help the long line of annoyed customers. Horrible store...I hate going in there. Transferring my prescriptions pronto. read more

Yelp needs to allow for negative stars for reviews. I didn't think this place could get any worse, but it clearly has. The pharmacy has had my prescription for over 4 HOURS and I've stopped by to pick it up three times now, each time the person at the counter saying it will be ready in 30 to 45 min. The line is insane. The person at the desk has no manners whatsoever. WTF is wrong with the management at this place! I asked the employee again if it will be ready if I come in an hour, and he said I should come by in another 2 to 3. It's already past 8pm...so I'd have to come at around 11pm to pick up something that should have been ready ages ago! AVOID THIS CVS AT ALL COSTS!! read more

Very understaffed - six hours earlier doctor's office faxed over prescription - tried to confirm whether available and can't get thru by phone - went to store to find long line and people very upset - took 35min despite people in front of me giving up. At pick up was told they don't have it ready but to wait 20min - asked whether I can wait without getting back in line and was told to just come back - got back in line and another 40 minutes later still did not have ready - waited another 20 minutes this time to the side along with four others to get filled. This place needs serious oversight as folks in line noting staff on their personal phones and chatting without opening another cashier to help! same happened in prior prescription pickup before and plan to change stores! read more

Stay away from here unless you need BP to raise. This CVS has no regard for anybody's time, health, or anything else. IE: A pharmacy staff will tell you your prescription will be ready within an hour only to get there & tell you they're out of stock. Has happened several times. No explanation, no apologies, nothing! Went with coupon expiring same day, key to cabinet doesn't work, manager blatantly refused to give a note for next day for product. Other worker couldnt believe his attitude! 98% have horrendous attitudes & have no care. Yes, I have choice not to go. I don't, husband crazily still does. Been going on for years!! I live right near this 24 hour CVS. While the store itself is convenient, the pharmacy is deplorable. I had an antibiotic called in and TWELVE hours later, it wasn't ready. I tried to call to check on it three times and was on hold with no one answering for almost 3 hours total. My husband went in twice to try to talk to someone and was told they were "backed up." There's no excuse for this level of service. No other pharmacy functions this poorly. I have had other instances with incorrect medicine counts and the register staff is highly unprofessional. You often hear them arguing amongst themselves or with the pharmacist. I will be changing to another chain. read more

The Pharmacy portion of this store is a shitshow. My parents are on multiple medications, so I have to frequent this place weekly. The staff is overworked (and will say that generally with the conversation while I wait for meds), they are always behind and take forever if you are waiting for a script. Over the last month when my parents confirm that the meds are ready they are told yes, and when I go to pick up the medication they are not ready. This is not acceptable. They are wasting customer's time because of their incompetency. If it isn't ready, say that. The pharmacy manager I dealt with last week was atrocious. I said I would wait (in drive through). She comes to the window yelling at me that I can't wait there, and that the scripts would be ready for 1/2 her, Muhammad who was the rep I was working with said 5 minutes. I said I am waiting period as her staff lied about it being ready. Again. She didn't deny that portion but was aggressive and belligerent. I asked for the phone number of her DM, which she insisted she didn't have (she also was not wearing a name tag so she can't get called out). The closest I got a was the name Dillion R, and no way to complain about her. Welcome to Yelp. I am hoping this will be a teaching moment for her, and that CVS will see this complaint and get more staff there to make it a better experience for their customers. read more

the worst customer service in the pharmacy department. I have a medically compromised child and use a lot of medication. Insurance changed coverage and I had to leave Walgreens (great service for us). I changed to CVS. you cannot get a person EVER. it takes about 10 minutes to get through all of the options they provide to customers on the phone so they can actually avoid providing customer service! Then, I was on hold for 15 minutes waiting to speak with someone in pharmacy and finally got someone who said, please hold. I continue on hold. this is the first month of prescriptions for my child. I've been to too many CVS locations to count. This is one of the worst. I don't understand why the manager of this location can not hire more staff. There are some lovely people working at the Pharmacy, but they are overwhelmed 24/7. I finally gave up and switched to Walgreens for prescriptions- of course, that transfer was a hassle, since this CVS kept the Walgreens pharmacist on hold for over an hour. read more

This pharmacy has the worst customer service ever and often takes way longer than expected to fill a script. The pharmacy is unfriendly always but particularly on the phone. How hard is it to say something polite when someone says thank you, and to hang up without slamming the receiver? If you're not stuck with it, go somewhere else. Awfull...Awfull pharmacy. My mother just recently switched over to CVS after 20 years at Hanford pharmacy the only reason being thats CVS is open later. Well we are switching back over to Hanford. Worst customer service by the pharmacy team. The store manager is very rude, my mom needed help re filling some medication because of the transition over and she said I can't help you with that you'll have to figure out a way to do that on your own with no direction. We all have bad days but every single time either I'm in there or my mom comes back from that place its always the same thing. None the less we are moving our pharmacy back to Hannaford. While the address says that this CVS is on Harvard Street, it is on the main stretch of businesses that you find on Main Street in Waltham. It has been a long time since I stepped into a CVS store. I haven't frequent them regularly since going to college in Pennsylvania as there aren't many of them on the West Coast, though they have started to open stores now in the Seattle area so I will probably visit one of them in the future. Like their other drugstore competitors (Rite Aid and Walgreens), CVS has a card program called ExtraCare that you need to sign up for to get their sales prices. I find that to be a bit of a nuisance, especially if you are only visiting town. That is why I prefer to shop at a local drugstore chain instead of any of these national stores because of this card nonsense. Though when you do have the ExtraCare card, you can provide your phone number as an alternate ID rather than carrying your card around. I didn't peruse the whole store. Just came up to pick up some lotion for a family member, but they seemed to have a good selection and typical of a CVS store. When checking out, I noticed that they have two self checkout lanes if you prefer to handle the payment process yourself. I am kind of glad that I had the cashier ring me up instead as I wasn't aware that I needed the card, so it would have took longer if I went the self checkout route. If you are running errands on Main Street, this CVS is a convenient place to shop for your drugstore needs in Waltham. read more

This Pharmacy should be shut down, or corporate should clean house. I have never interacted with employees in any other business or institution as unpleasant, idiotic and insensitive as the pharmacy staff at CVS in Waltham on the corner of Harvard and Main St. That includes the time I spent in the military. For example, my CVS app said my prescription was ready to be refiled, I went to refill it only to be told that was a mistake and it would be filled the next day, guess what happened the next day? Same excuse, "Come back again tomorrow." said the pharmacy tech in a rude and dismissive tone. I tried to explain, but I was ignored, being a national holiday I could not get in touch with my prescribing doctor. As of writing this I have not had my medication in 56 hours and feel like I might need to take a trip to the emergency room. I'm still physically strong and will survive a night of pure hell in withdrawals, but I worry what could happen when a glorified bean counter takes the law into their own hands when a child, frail or elderly customer is treated the same way. I'm absolutely disgusted and will never shop at a CVS again, I will make sure noone in my family does as well and I suggest anyone who reads this diatribe do the same, lest you find yourself crawling out of your skin for 2-3 days because a licensed pharmacist in a licensed pharmacy allows their pharmacy techs to treat customers like problems. To be clear the medicine I take is not a narcotic, yet it does have serious side effects when not taken correctly. I wont say what prescription a veteran may need to get through the day, but the pharmacy tech had no problem revealing that name loud enough for the half dozen customers behind me to hear it, HIPA be damned at the Waltham CVS Pharmacy. read more

This is a good, well-stocked CVS. They occasionally run out of items but obviously are trying their best to offer a wide range of products. Like all CVS's, they have a good rotation of sales, so you can pick up some bargains in the grocery section. read more

I previously wrote that the pharmacy was chronically understaffed with long lines. Since then, they have improved dramatically. The past several times I have gone in, they have had at least two people on register and at least two people in pharmacy, and much shorter lines. read more

Dropped off my prescription and was told it would take an hour, went back two hours later to the pick-up counter and clerk said it wasn't ready and would take ten minutes. Came back fifteen minutes later and same clerk told me it wasn't ready again and rudely told me to go over to the drop-off counter which he should have told me in the first place. I talked to pharmacy tech who said it didn't get processed because of a computer problem and said it would be ready in ten minutes and to wait near the pick-up counter. As I was waiting near the pick-up counter I could hear this same rude clerk talking so disrespectfully to the other customers picking up their prescriptions, it was so unprofessional and disturbing. He must have known I thought he was rude because he then told me I was too close, step back and called me annoying! I kid you not. I couldn't believe this rude clerk could treat a customer like this. I've never been treated this way in my life. When the tech came back with my prescription I asked to talk to his manager. I talked to the pharmacy manager who apologized and said that she would address this with him. And also apologized for not calling me to tell me that the order wasn't going to be processed on time. This clerk's behavior was mean and offensive, he should not be working in that position if he dislikes people so much! read more

A busy store with an impersonal & uncaring pharmacy staff. My doc increased a dose of a medication. The pharmacy wouldn't fill it - told my husband I wasn't eligible for a refill for another week. A second doc (orthopedic) prescribed the same meds - sent in ANOTHER new script & when I called the pharmacy to check they had it they informed me I couldn't refill. I explained BOTH docs prescribed an earlier refill but they said too bad. Called the doc to see what to do & she said 'A GOOD PHARMACY would have called the 1st doc @ sorted it for me'! Clearly this IS NOT A GOOD PHARMACY! Go somewhere else! read more

This CVS is the worse store in the chain. Customer service is deplorable. An emergency prescription can take a whole day or more. One prescription I needed quickly was sent to them on a Thursday and they didn't have it ready until the following Tuesday! With no apologizes. The Friday before before u had my doctor send it to another pharmacy and they had in ready in 30 min. To make things worse they made errors on 2 of my prescriptions (wrong pills). Fortunately I check all my meds even generics for the right markings. One of these was a controlled substance. They told me it was correct they counted it twice. I had to have them pull the script then asked them to look at the pills again. The response was that I was correct and they fixed it while I waited another half hour. This store is way too busy and doesn't have the quality control. Go elsewhere like it did with all my meds. My favorite is Theatre Pharmacy Lexington. If you need to use GoodRx or paying out of pocket with no insurance use Costco Waltham. Be careful and always verify your prescription and make sure what's in the bottle are the right pills. read more

So normally I wouldn't review a CVS since... well, they are all more or less the same - BUT this one is awesome because it has self check outs, which I LOVE. Staff isn't that friendly or attentive - but that's ok - I used to work at a CVS so I know how it goes, it isn't exactly the most glamorous of positions. Its usually pretty clean although they seem to do inventory unpacking during the day which is weird because it is a 24 hour CVS so you'd think they would do it at less high traffic times. Pharmacy not very helpful at all. They screwed up my prescription transfer from my regular cvs and said the could fill it; then I showed up and they said it was expired and couldn't be filled. Drove home and called my regular cvs to see what the deal was and the pharmacist said she had faced it over 3 hours prior. Called back the shitty cvs and she said cheerfully that she could have it ready for me later this afternoon. Now I have to drive back across town because these people weren't diligent enough to look into it the first time. What a terrible place, just awful. They usually have 2 or more employees up front but they won't ring you up they require that you use the extremely finicky self checkout machines. This store always has sketchy people in the store. Some of their food is expired they have ice cream that expired last year and I told the store and checked back 2 weeks later and the old ice cream is still in the freezer. Moving on to the pharmacy. The pharmacy is a complete mess, the majority of the pharmacists are rude and act like you're the biggest burden ever when picking up your prescription. They never have the medicine you need in stock and you may have to wait up to a week and after waiting that week your prescription will probably be screwed up anyway. I'm no longer using this pharmacy. The only positive thing this store has going for it is that it is 24-hours. read more

After this location remodeled, it is cleaner and much more organized. It has a pretty good variety of merchandise and competitive prices. Whatever I don't find at CVS I shop for at Hannaford, which is across the street, and I usually have pretty good luck. This location also has a machine that can scan your member card and get you some pretty big discounts, such as 30% you entire purchase. In regards to the staff, I find that most people are pretty friendly and helpful. My only frustration is when I use the self-checkout option and there is something wrong with a product or I can't find something when I'm in a rush. They are usually pretty slow to get these issues solved. read more

Absolute worst pharmacy! It sometimes takes DAYS for them to fill a prescription and that is only after you go there trying to pick it up, only to be told it's "not quite ready yet" or just out of stock completely. What happened to their pharmacy? I changed CVS locations as our previous one only had a cashier so I switched to the Harvard St location for faster service. Meanwhile Walgreens is much closer but I have gone to CVS locations for years. However this year, they usually only have 1 cashier waiting on lines of people when the window one is busy. Other employees are running back and forth behind them or trying to look busy. As a result the cashiers are stressed, (stop complaining to us) because we are grumpy from waiting. Did they get a new pharmacist manager who made cuts or switched roles? I am considering Walgreens which is closer to home anyway if they don't go back to the service they used to have. read more

Very loud PA system trying to compel me to buy things I do not need or want, but distracting me from choosing the items I do indeed need and want. I calmly put my basket away and told the friendly "greeter" that I cannot shop with that noise in the background, and he said, "Sorry, I can't do anything about that. Have a nice day!!" I promptly went to Walgreens where it was much quieter and spent $200. read more

Dirty, disorganized pharmacy with drugs all over the place and rude pharmacy tech. I was in need of a special eye drop for my sister with a severe eye infection. She only had the brand name and not the generic in stock and because the doc didn't write no substitutes she would not give us the brand name. Unreal.
