I started going to Luana for my brow shape and tint and after talking with her about my skin concerns, I decided to also go back for a customized facial as well as dermaplaning. Each and every appointment is relaxing and thorough, she takes her time and makes the service a full experience! The space itself is adorable, clean and inviting. Hands down the best spray tan around! I was scrambling for a spray tan due to a wedding I was going to and Karen took care of me, squeezed me in at the last minute, and gave me some good education about how it works and what to do to keep it nice and avoid streaks. Called here to get some info on a make-up application for my wedding. When I was finally able to speak to the owner (because no one else can help with questions on make-up applications? huh?), I advised that I would need someone to be at my home at 7:30am. Her actual response - "Ugh, really? That's SO early." Seriously? After trying to talk me in to a lesson instead, I politely declined and ended the call. Alright, some people aren't morning people - I get it. But is that really how you want to present yourself as a business owner? She could have simply said, "No, I'm sorry I'm not available at that time," and I would have walked away from the interaction with a still positive feeling about the Beauty Cafe. I don't ever leave reviews, but I thought my visit to The Beauty Cafe warranted one. Justine just made my very fine, very fried hair look good again -- when I got home, my husband asked if I had extensions put in because it looked so much fuller. I had been paying a lot of money to ruin my hair in the South End and I appreciate that she did a consult to evaluate the damage before booking a full appointment. I also got my eyebrows waxed by Hailey while I was there -- I've overplucked while left to my own devices in quarantine and she cleaned everything up without touching the parts that need to grow back in. I thought this place was just a little boutique, but am thrilled to have learned better! This is the first time I've left a hair appointment happy since I stopped driving down to Connecticut to see my hometown hair stylist. read more

I recently got my makeup done here for an event and I LOVED it! The store is gorgeous and is perfectly merchandised. Under one roof they have Franca who does lash lifts and tints as well as waxing...she does a beautiful job with eyebrows. In the back Loxx by Justine just moved in. I have been faithfully spray tanning once a week for almost 10 years now so I can say with some confidence that I am an expert at recognizing a good spray from a not so good spray to an all out mess. Needless to say, I am very particular after having been sprayed by many different people over the years with many different products. Karen and Franca at The Beauty Cafe are fabulous! Hands down! Their product is by far the best I have used: *smells good *tastes like chocolate (I've licked my lips a few times) *never orange *natural dark tan *great coverage Their technique is on point (I was such a pain in the butt when I first started coming here almost a year ago but their patience and perfection had me coming back for more every week) As well as the fact that everyone is always complimenting me with a "did you go on vacation?" Scheduling is great as they are always wonderfully accommodating. The atmosphere of the shop is so welcoming and comfortable. The staff is all so friendly and helpful and the vibe is truly harmoniously perfect! The price is quite good compared to some salons I've gone to in the past. Parking is plentiful with a lot out back and on street parking out front (definitely beats traveling into Boston and getting parking tickets or towed) I was referred to The Beauty Cafe last year by someone and though I was quite happy at the spray salon I was at I decided I would give the girls a try (they were 3 minutes from my house). I can say with honest words that sometimes the grass IS greener on the other side. I thought I was getting the best of the best before I came here and I soon realized that I was wrong...these ladies had me hooked with their attention to detail, outstanding customer service, and most of all their welcoming and warm way of making me feel apart of their little family on Main Street. 5 stars to not only the best spray tan around but to a wonderful establishment filled with an incredible staff. read more

The Beauty Cafe is a gem find. Karen the owner is a savvy, smart, professional business woman. My experience at the store was so much fun. The best spray tan ever! Lasted almost 2 weeks and was perfect for my event. I was so comfortable with Karen she is a sweetheart. I went back a second time and had the same experience. Very reasonably priced so i will pass on to my patients as I work in Dermatology. So we do not want patients tanning. Highly recommend!! This place is adorable. I was searching for a place for last minute makeup on a Friday. After calling 3 different places and being told they didn't have availability I somehow came across this gem. So happy I did. When I called they were able to squeeze me in. I was 3 weeks postpartum & sleep deprived. Karen did my makeup and made me look awake & feel good about myself. I felt like I had been going in there for years. Got an organic spray tan here yesterday and LOVE the way it looks after sleeping on it and showering this morning.The staff at the Beauty Cafe were very friendly and down to earth and had me in and out within half an hour. The woman recommended a level 2 spray on my skin tone and it came out looking just the way I wanted -- bronzed and glowing without any streaks or orange tint. When Beauty Cafe opened on Main Street in Melrose I beamed with happiness. Melrose is a wonderful town with a charming Main Street, a mix of old and new, but when Karen, the owner, took a chance on an open storefront, it really added a splash of color and glamour to our town. She is constantly adding new inventory and her jewelry happens to be the most gorgeous and affordable I can find. I recently took a trip to the beauty cafe in Melrose, MA. I pass by the store constantly and haven't been in until recently. The beautifully designed store has all the beauty products and accessories a girl could only hope for. After speaking with the girl at the desk, I found out they not only sell great products, they perform great services as well! The beauty cafe has specialized facials and spray tanning. It's really hard to find an affordable spray tan that doesn't make you orange. I found it here!!! Stephanie does the spray tanning at the store and she was great! I came to the Beauty Cafe after an informative call with them. Franca did my airbrush tan - not only was she knowledgeable, but also very patient and meticulous in her process. Others in the shop were also very nice. The shop itself it well-maintained inside, and has plenty to look at while you wait for your appointment. Karen who did the spray tan was nice enough to take me after they had closed tonight because they didn't have an times available tomorrow. Warning. Come to this store prepared with information on the products you might buy. I went into The Beauty Cafe in the hopes of finding skin care products for my sensitive skin. My wedding is in May and I want my skin to look its best. I was helped by Kathleen who was very pleasant. I explained my situation and my skin type and she recommended the line of Therapy Systems. We went on to choose makeup and she did a wonderful job selecting colors for my skin tone. I left feeling pretty good about my experience. I began to use the Therapy Solutions cleanser, glycolic formula, and eye cream. After a few uses I noticed small red bumps appearing on my face. Since I spent a good amount of money on the products I decided to give it 2 weeks. Unfortunately, my skin broke out in a rash and I stopped using the products. A few days later the rash went away. I went back to the store to explain my situation to the owner. I had hoped to get a store credit for the skin care products causing the rash. I was NOT expecting a refund. Unfortunately I did not receive the customer service I would expect from any manager/owner. In fact, I have to say I was handled and dismissed. The owner's advice was to continue using the products, just less frequently. Her reasoning being she uses the products and has no issues. Whether that's true or not, not everybody has the same skin type. A customer is coming to you with a genuine concern and your advice is to continue to use something that is causing a rash? I've worked many years in customer service and this is not acceptable. She was adamant I take the products home and would not give me a store credit. I left bewildered and angry. I did not continue to use the products as recommended. I have not gone back to the store because I no longer wish to do any type of business there. If a product is causing a costumer harm I would expect an owner would do something to rectify the situation with care and concern. Instead, this owner chose to brush me off and as a result has lost a customer who had spent a significant amount of money in her store. Never again! read more

I had my make-up done here this past Saturday for my bridal shower. I'm pretty boring when it comes to make-up, so I told her to do what she felt. I loved it & so did everyone else.
