Caesar salad with seared tuna.
Kevin H.

To start with, the place was jam packed when we got there. The bartender, Ruby was swamped but very efficient and friendly. We had a couple appetizers (tuna and baked salmon), both were yummy. Then we ordered our main courses, Caesar salad with seared tuna, curry bowl with shrimp and a ribeye. As the photos show, they looked amazing and they tasted just as good as they looked. Definitely not "bar food" - classy and well thought out menu with a great chef.

I discovered this establishment while visiting the Lofton Hotel on the evening of a WNBA Lynx playoff game. I sat at the bar and the staff were incredible - I was just looking for a quick bite and the shiitake croquettes were perfect. Very crispy and filled with mushroomy potatoey goodness. They were toppped with a micro cilantro that was a nice contrast to the fried croquettes. There are lots of other tasty and interesting dishes on the menu. Definitely leaps and bounds above the average hotel bar/restaurant.

Egg white breakfast sandwhich with roasted potatoes Really good, $11

Our waitress was very fast and super helpful. All food was really good. The OJ was expensive, and I was thinking it would be fresh squeezed to be $8. Other than that, wonderful experience. I had a negative experience with hotel from them not subtracting our breakfast comps for that meal but I won't put that towards this restaurant.

We celebrated my birthday here and it was fantastic! Great service, delicious food, and relaxing atmosphere.

a plate of food on a bed

Food was wonderful! Very quiet place, however the service was not great. There was usually 2-3 servers working and the restaurant was never busy. Last night we were the only ones in the entire restaurant and we were left waiting to order drinks for 15 minutes. Everytime we went to get breakfast we had to wait forever for someone to help us. They would help other tables and ignore us. Super weird. Room service was better and always came super fast, I would recommend that over going to the restaurant because they are not attentive.

Beef pho soup - Chef's tasting
Roz B.

The chef's tasting was one of the best food experiences we've ever had. Given we spent six years in San Francisco with amazing restaurants that says a lot. Between Will pairing the most perfect wines with every course, to sous chefs Jeremiah and Laura curating the most flavorful and unique dishes, everything about the night was so wonderful. The chef's tasting is done in the kitchen so you have access to the chef's as they cook. It starts with the chef's talking with you about your likes and dislikes with them. Then they design your menu based on your discussion. We will be doing this at least once a year. Highly recommend if you are looking for a fun and adventurous food experience.

Dinner at Cosmos is an experience. Unlike many hotel restaurants, Cosmos serves up ambiance, excellent food, and great service for an all-around wonderful dinner. They start dinner by providing a delicious amuse-bouche, bring out a tasty juice palate-cleanser "shot" in the middle, and end the evening with a lovely chocolate truffle. And that's on top of what you actually order. The wait staff are very knowledgable and friendly, which adds to the feel of an upscale dining experience. I love how clever the chef gets with the rotating menu options and have never had a dish I didn't thoroughly enjoy. Try the tasting menu, which changes frequently. You won't be disappointed. Cosmos is one of the best fine dining restaurants in the Twin Cities and should not be missed!

Chilean Sea Bass Ceviche, oh my!
Mo M.

Oh my goodness gracious, I never expected this fare upon my first trip to the fine city of Minneapolis. Nothing was spared, exquisite is damn appropriate verbiage, and it can easily compare and surpass any upper crustie hangout in Seattle. We shared a plethora of appetizers to start - ...well, actually I had a Bombay Sapphire with extra lime to start, heh. Ahi Tuna Tartare, Wagyu Beef & Maryland Crab Cakes. The Ahi was foodgasmic, rich and savory, yet the fish was sweet. I'm not fan of crab, but loved the seasoning of these crab cakes. And Wagyu beef prepped like this should be as illegal as street drugs. Dizzying. Then salad: I had the Chilean Sea Bass Ceviche. It tickled my palate, and wasn't as tart as some I have had, so I could still taste the fish in a pleasant way, crisp & delectable. I felt inclined to share - only a little however. We then moved on after a sorbet to cleanse away taste I actually did not want to go away... yes, we ate more.... Angus Tenderloin. Knives can be excused. Buttery Bovine perfection. My friend poked me, as I apparently closed my eyes to let it play a round of pro Canadian curling with my tastebuds. She assumed I was asleep sitting up, with beef in my mouth. Dummy. We then moved onto dessert, and tho I said no as to not pass out, I partook of friend's dishes. Helllooo APPLE. Sinful spoonful of heaven to finish the meal. Both wait staff we had were professional, fun, QUICK and knowledgeable. We requested the chef come out so we could fawn over him, and he complimented us back with a chocolate array. And the poster re: the restrooms is right. The last time I saw organic materials used in interior space so beautifully was at a resort in Bali. Nothing was left untouched for your five senses here. Luckily I had a marshmallow bed to land in 4 floors above me in the Graves601 as I should not have driven after the Cosmos experience.

Cosmos is located inside the Lowes Hotel(the old Graves Hotel). I liked that they have complimentary valet parking for eating at the restaurant. It's a very nice quiet place to dine. The waiters were really nice, but he could not remember what we all ordered and had to come back to ask us again. And while everyone's dinner was served they made a "mistake" on mine so it came out later then everyone's which meant I ate by myself while everyone had finished their meals. I'm sure they forgot my order!!!! Was not happy about that and I asked for medium and it looked more like medium rare! Regardless, I still are it but I didn't like the mushroom or carrots that they had with the dish. It wasn't good. Overall, the people there were nice, the place is very nice but food was not all that. I wasn't satisfied my first impression there.

The setting that made the experience always so special, before they move to their residency inside the Guthrie Theater under a new name. I cannot wait to see what they do next. Every dish truly hit it out of the park. From the Three Sisters salad with bison and squash to the fried quail and rich, earthy mushroom soup, each plate showcased Indigenous ingredients and traditions in a way that felt both thoughtful and exciting. This is not your typical dining experience and that's exactly what makes it so satisfying. Even the margarita was a standout: beautifully presented and just as delicious as it looked. The latte came garnished with rose petals and was not too sweet. It was a nice way to start my meal. Then came the sweet potatoes, and oh my God, I think they were the best sweet potatoes I've ever had. They were unbelievably, delectably sweet and cooked perfectly. They had an excellent char while being soft on the inside. And the sweetness was complemented nicely by the maple chili crisp, which had just a bit of a kick. The bison skirt steak tacos were also delicious. The bison was so tender and juicy. Full of flavor and cooked superbly. My server wasn't kidding when she said the tacos were big enough to share between a few people. I ate the tacos by myself, and I was beyond stuffed. Alas, I wasn't a big fan of the spoonbread. The flavor wasn't bad, but I didn't care for the texture, which was a little too coarse for me. The dessert was gluten-free, and I could REALLY tell. It was also too spicy for me. The spoonbread was drenched in hot honey. But the sweet potatoes, tacos, and attentive & friendly service more than made up for it. The restaurant isn't cheap (especially for a solo diner), but I've seen worse prices for worse food. And I'm eager to check out their new location the next time I'm in Minneapolis. Note - if you pay with a credit card, it does come with a 3% fee.

Unfortunately, while the restaurant has a wonderful, warm, and cozy atmosphere, the service and execution of several dishes left us disappointed. I started with an Old Fashioned made with brown butter-infused bourbon, which sounded intriguing. Unfortunately, the cocktail was served over regular crushed ice rather than a single large ice cube, causing it to become watered down rather quickly. Not the best start. We were interested in ordering the pork chop, and our waiter explained that it would take approximately 15-20 minutes to prepare. He suggested putting that order in immediately while we decided on appetizers. That sounded reasonable, except our waiter then disappeared for another 5-10 minutes. After unsuccessfully trying to get his attention, we had to ask another employee to find him. When he returned, I specifically asked whether we still had time to order appetizers without having the pork chop arrive at the same time. He assured us that the timing would be coordinated appropriately. Unfortunately, the pork chop arrived before any of our appetizers. When I expressed my concern to the woman delivering the dish, she offered to take it back and have it prepared again. I appreciated her willingness to correct the situation, but the entire sequence reflected poor coordination between the kitchen and service staff. As for the food, the pork chop was excellent and easily the highlight of the evening. The appetizers, however, were less impressive. The dumplings had a flavorful filling, but the dough at the top was noticeably undercooked and unpleasantly doughy. The octopus was tender, but it was deep-fried, which wasn't what we expected. We generally prefer lighter, healthier preparations and would have appreciated knowing beforehand that the octopus was fried. On the positive side, the restaurant's interior is inviting, comfortable, and beautifully suited for an intimate dinner. And again, the pork chop was outstanding. Unfortunately, a great atmosphere and one excellent entrée weren't enough to overcome the service missteps, poor timing, and inconsistent execution of the other dishes. At this price point and given the restaurant's reputation, we expected a more polished dining experience. While I can understand an occasional kitchen or service mistake, the combination of issues made for a disappointing evening. We will likely not return.

What a wonderful evening! To be honest, writing this review is hard, because I want to share…read moreeverything, but I also want to preserve the element of surprise. I liken it to movie/show spoilers... I don't want to reveal too much, and dilute the awe of your first experience. So with that, Demi has been on my radar for years, and as I prepared for an outing worthy of celebrating my milestones, I knew the time had come. I went for the autum 2026 wc whitney menu, which states 9 courses, but it was 11 given the mushroom broth in the beginning, and chocolates at the end. Anyway, the food was amazing, the service exceptional, and although I went solo, I met a couple of lovely folks seated next to me that only added to the experience. So with that, here are a few highlights: -Avoid arriving extremely early. Within 5mins of your reservation is more than enough. I arrived 9mins early, but used the time for photos and a tasty cocktail, "Trouble in Paradise" $20, before seating began. -The experience is very personal. From beginning to end. When completing your reservation, be sure to include details/the reason for your visit. They actually read it! -If you're contemplating going alone, do it! I was the only one by themselves, and still felt engaged! Sitting with views of the kitchen, you see all the action and it's quite the production. There's a rhythm as the service flows, everyone has a role, yet it's all hands on deck with so much attention to the details. It's like catching a glimpse of the backstage crew working behind the curtains at a show, which I love. -I skipped the beverage pairings and just ordered two drinks by the glass. One being a red wine that I asked be paired with my pasta course and went well with the following two (duck, then wagyu). I didn't check prices beforehand, but both turned out to be pricey($50 total). So with that, either inquire in the moment, or just limit yourself so the surprise isn't exorbitant and beyond what the pairing would have been. And if you're not worried about price, then YOLO. -The one area of improvement I noticed was with a substitute given to those with food restrictions. I saw reviews from folks who only received brie cheese for a course, and then I witnessed it while there. Since restrictions are provided beforehand, it seems more in-line with the dining experience to create an option that's elevated. Not just a slice or 2 of cheese (while others are eating something substantial). That aside, it was lovely and I'd recommend it.

Whitney course -- it was overall a delicious delight! My favorite was the eggplant agnolotti, all around a solid course with great flavors. I quite enjoyed the rabbit and foie gras terrine as well! I would say if you aren't adventurous, this menu may be a hit or miss if you don't like specific textures. For me, I enjoyed most of everything served! My least favorite was probably the mushroom dashi-- but it was not bad. I was quite surprised to feel as full as I did at the end! I would say for the price, it is a fair amount of food especially with the amount of flair and flavors presented. I did not do a wine pairing but everything I did have from the bar was a 10/10. The restaurant interior itself was intimate and quiet. Everyone was respectful of each other's space and experience. I would say although you are quite close to your neighbors, you can easily get swept away in your own bubble. Would definitely return to enjoy a different set!

I've only been to the cafe, but there is also a separate, fancy-seeming restaurant as well as a boutique hotel. I had a great mocha here, along with a breakfast sandwich and a carrot-apple juice. High quality all around, and all of it was enjoyed in a comfortable and beautifully decorated dining room. There is quite a lot of food on the menu; I was there for breakfast but they have a lunch menu that starts at 11am which I want to come back to try. Again, my mocha was absolutely delicious and the fresh bread really elevated that breakfast sandwich. I was here on a September Saturday morning at around 8:30 and it was very busy; the wait to order was about 15 minutes but there is enough seating that I didn't have trouble there. In addition to plenty of indoor tables, there is a lot of bar seating and a good number of patio tables.
