Love the ambiance here! It's beautifully decorated. Plenty of outdoor seatings downstairs and upstairs. The upstairs had such a romantic vibe with nice low lighting and softer music. I like that it's dog friendly. My favorite was probably the chicken bites since it was crispy and easy to snack on. Tacos were just okay, nothing really special but very generous fillings. I thought queso fries were a little bland, their queso was good but they could've added more queso on the fries. Hands down, my FAVORITE coffee/hangout spot in East Austin. There are oodles of seating (most of it outdoors). So many plants (they have a Japanese maple!!) There's picnic tables galore and then smaller areas off to one side that have slightly more private vibes. Cosmic drinks are great, I got the Cosmic cold brew which was delightfully fruity and sweet. I would probably ask to reduce sweetness next time, but it was great to try it at full sweetness too! It's not the best place for working since there's not many outlets and most tables are outside, but if you're fine with that, it's great! Parking is tough - lot is not that big and usually full so you may have to pay for street parking. Nevertheless, I think this will be my go to spot for hangouts, occasional coworking, and immaculate vibes read more

The 4 starts is specifically driven by the fact I had good company, the weather was nice, and the outside area was absolutely gorgeous! While the upstairs was completely empty, after seeing it, I wish that I sat up there (though it's in a weird placement - back by the front entrance rather than the ability to be accessed from the seating area). It was packed with co-workers on zoom calls and friends sharing smiles on a sunny day, but my date and I found some room on a shared bench and had a lovely time. It's a to-go style, where you order at the counter and pick up your drinks / food yourself (marked with a buzzer). Now for drink + food - I had a cappuccino with oat milk - my oat milk was burnt, ruining the entire taste. Then, on the other side, indulged in some Al Pastor and Arrachera tacos - which I was underwhelmed by. I think the Al Pastor was soggy, overly oily, and I didn't prefer the pineapple being split up so small. The arrachera was fine - nothing to complain about, but didn't blow me out of the water. read more

Pretty cool setup reminiscent of SoDoSoPa from South Park. Cool indoor and outdoor setup in East Austin that is following the wave of gentrification and modernization to the area. Visited Cosmic Saltillo for the Whoville takeover at their upstairs Satellite Bar. The artist did such an amazing job transforming this place. Their staff is so friendly and their cocktails were probably some of my favorite out of all the Christmas themed bars I've visited so far. The downside was there was a huge line and only two bartenders so better get in line before you finish your drink. There's also not enough seating for the amount of people that were there. We got lucky enough to grab a spot in one of the "sofas" (which was more like a fabric covered bench and oh so uncomfortable). But overall solid effort and showed more creativity than some of the other holiday bars in Austin. read more

The word is out! This is a new hot spot on the east side. For only being open a few weeks, this place was popping. That being said, there is plenty of spaces to sit. Lots of people avoided the outside tables since it was hot and sunny out. The staff was busy but everyone was very personable and eager to help. Parking was tough. You will likely need to do street parking. I did get a spot in their lot. If you wait a bit, people do leave the lot frequently. I ordered a vanilla latte. It was very good. My friend also enjoyed her drink. I'll definitely be back here. I'm excited that this business is doing so well already. Also, be sure to visit their other location on S. Congress. read more

I came here on a Wednesday night and the place was packed. Lots of people having a great time - the vibe here was fantastic. I would give this place 5 stars if I was only reviewing the ambience and aesthetics- it's a super cool place. I would describe it as an ultra modern artsy urban garden, with lots of little nooks and crannies to hang out in. I loved it! Unfortunately, the food was a different story. When we finally received our tacos and nachos platter (there were four of us, FYI), everything was cold. Apparently we didn't get a notification on the app that our food was ready so it had been sitting out for a bit. The kitchen staff were very gracious in remaking everything. We had breakfast tacos and a few other tacos as well as the nacho platter. The tacos were excessively salty and not terribly flavorful. The nachos were mostly chips with very little toppings, but the meat was also overly salty. Thankfully the food wasn't ridiculously expensive, so perhaps we just ordered the wrong things? The drinks also tasted watered down, without much flavor and very little alcohol. I believe I would return here, since I really loved the design and feel of the place; however, I think I'll probably skip the food and drink. read more

This place is such a vibe. I really only came in to get a coffee, but I was surprised by all the wonderful options. I ended up getting this wonderful pink drink that had coffee and probiotics and CBD and 1000 other things that I can't remember. There was wonderful music playing, a water feature, multiple dogs, family style seating, indoor seating options, and also it looks like there was a taco place at this location if you were hungry. Street parking is free on Sundays and with 'food' you can purchase an adult bevie before noon and after 10 (might be earlier but I have never tried). Texas has weird alcohol laws especially on Sundays. Since it was a rainy fall Sunday it was a perfect time to get an Irish coffee. This might be one of the few places you can get this drink in the morning especially on a Sunday. They also have other coffee based cocktails as well and of course coffee if you need caffeine. There's a bouncer at the door that can look at your ID so you get a wrist band to save you a step from showing your ID every time you order a drink just like the other cosmic coffee location. This location has an outdoor covered deck on two levels. There are two main indoor areas on the ground level to order from. There are also picnic tables and little 1980s like lawn chairs to sit on if the weather is nice. Even for a rainy Sunday morning this place was pretty happening under the covered deck and inside; of course no one was seated out in the rain. Lots of people catching up and even a few people working remotely. When I was there the outdoor area had a fall theme with tons of pumpkins near the water features. Very picture worthy and I assume they will do something similar for the holidays. read more

Hip spot for coffee, drinks, tacos, etc. In East Austin. Most of the seating is outdoors and uncovered. One building serves drinks and the other food. Pro Tip: In the drinks building, ask if people are in line to order or are just waiting. It quickly gets crowded in there and often it isn't obvious if people are in line to order. It's pretty disorganized and they probably need to put in a queue of some sort. I just had an iced mocha with oat milk and it was good. As of September 2023, the area is under heavy construction and parking can be a bit of a pain. Parking is paid street parking. If you use the Park ATX app, you're forced to buy a $10 "wallet" to park so you may just want to pay at the parking kiosks instead if you're not going to use that much parking in Austin. read more

As with any beautiful food place in Austin, the food and drinks never quite hit the mark. I don't know if it's laziness or they just think the views and ambience are enough. I love the layout of this place and all the natural scenery but it's a shame that the only food place in this establishment is devoid of any flavor. Think Oasis food and you'll get the picture. I'm a pig and would gobble most anything down (if it's good). I took only a few bites of my rice bowl and did not want to finish the rest. There was no flavor and the food was lukewarm. The bar line was extremely long and slow moving. I would love to see a better option for ordering drinks and managing the line so it doesn't clog the entire indoor space. The food and drinks are wonderful, however the directions for the car validation are horrible. No one from out of town would reasonably assume that the parking garage right next door isn't included in the validation. There is zero signage about that. The little map on the website is so difficult to understand. There needs to be better communication as the security in the parking garage is continually having to deal with angry people because of this. Signage is critical. read more

If you need a new spot to work remotely I recommend checking out the new Cosmic Saltillo. The new fall weather has been so gorgeous that we decided to have a change of scenery instead of working from home. The venue is beautifully decorated currently with tons of pumpkins! They serve food, alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages. We had two cocktails for $9.50 each and the tacos looked and smelled good, but we'll leave that for next time. Lots of seating, but I would say if you want to sit near a power outlet to arrive early in the day or wait till a seat is available. The main picnic tables do not have power outlets. Also it's dog friendly! Our pup loved it. Really tranquil fountain in the middle. You can also go up to their rooftop area to sit and see views of dt and the main seating below. Cosmic Saltillo is the second location of Cosmic Coffee in South Austin. While the East Austin location is well chosen and the grungy steel beam architecture is a cool concept, Cosmic Saltillo lacks the quaint and welcoming nature vibes of the original location. The coolest parts of what makes Cosmic Coffee a unique venue are all missing: no waterfalls, no gardens, no grackles, no chickens, no pond with koi fish, no food trucks, no large wooden chairs placed in a circle... The list of "nos" goes on. Instead, Cosmic Saltillo has opted to make their own tacos (they're not bad but Pueblo Viejo food truck serves superior and larger tacos), the tables are more crammed against each other because space is more limited, and the vibe is a bit austere, even on a nice and sunny autumn day. That being said, I'm happy to report that while the quality of the food in my opinion has gone down a bit, the quality of the coffee served at the bar is still on par with the original. For everything else, I'll keep heading south, where the Cosmic experience has already been perfected, surpassing its offspring. read more

This is one of my favorite places in Austin period. This location is so beautiful & we have been MANY times. My favorite drink is their liquid sunshine packed with vitamins! Also, the taco joint connected to it is incredible. They have one taco with pineapple that I get every time. The salsa is also delicious. Enjoyed Sunday brunch here today and I mean REALLY enjoyed it. Quintessential austin patio vibes with wonderful landscaping complete with several peaceful fountains and water features, creeping vines and string lights. Restaurant was counter service with a separate area for bar or tacos. About 10 min each. Pro tip though: you can get select drinks/Can beers in the taco line as well. Such a gorgeous new addition to Cosmic coffee! Spacious and fantastic for large groups since there are so many long tables available outdoors. My husband and I checked this out early on a Saturday morning around 9am, and many tables were filled up with plenty still available. This does seem mostly like an outdoor space, so as long as the weather is nice, this is a great place to chill with friends. The vibes were very chill and we enjoyed sipping our coffee while reading. Coffee was great, similar to the original Cosmic location. Tacos are sold here, which we didn't order, so we'll definitely have to try them out next time! They seemed like a pretty popular choice among most tables, so that's a good sign. Be prepared to walk, because all parking seems to be street parking (so may not be the most ideal but comes with the territory around this area of town). With businesses all around, you may need to park a distance away once you find a spot especially during busy times. read more

First, driving by and walking up this place looks like a metal scraps business but was you cross that threshold it's like you're transported to a completely different world. It's genius. They are so dog friendly, take your dog. The service was 100%, the bartender made me the wrong drink on accident and I had already walked away and sat down. I went here on a friday night with some girl friends and the vibes are immaculate. They have indoor seating for the taco place but most seating is outdoors. Depending on the austin weather, this might not be ideal but when we went it wasn't TOO hot and there is plenty of seating for large parties. Dogs are also welcome! We had tacos from the taco place which were large and a good portion size for the price. Their agua frescas are amazing in the hot summer heat but you have to try the frozen hibiscus fresca. It literally tastes like a strawberry popsicle! I will definitely be coming back with the dogs once the weather starts to cool down more. read more

I've been hearing a lot about this new spot in East Austin so I finally went to check it out. Their gravel parking lot was full when I went, but there's plenty of street parking in the surrounding blocks despite the construction. This place definitely has an "industrial chic" type of vibe, with lots of wood and metal accents. I liked that they had multiple water features running, which added to the relaxing atmosphere. There are two separate indoor areas, one for drinks and one for food. If you're looking for the spiked agua frescas, you'll find them in the food area. There's also tons of seating here, including seating in both indoor areas, a covered patio, picnic tables, rooftop seating upstairs, and even some more private seating areas behind the main water feature. You might want to avoid wearing open toed shoes here since the main area with the picnic tables is all gravel. The staff here is super friendly. Everyone I interacted with asked about my day and was happy to give me recommendations. I got to try the Frozen Boozy Coffee, which was a little sweet with plenty of spices, and I really couldn't taste the booze! I also ordered two tacos, the Con Todo and the Carnitas. Both tacos were absolutely loaded with meat/filling, so I was really glad they were served with double tortillas. They also came garnished with tons of sauce, which I loved, but they were definitely messy. They also have additional salsa available in the little fridge next to the cashier if you need it! The other great thing about these tacos was that they came out super fast. I had barely sat down when my buzzer went off telling me my food was ready. I definitely want to come back and try their other menu offerings. Overall, this seems like an ideal spot to work with friends or just to hang out at. They seem like they already have a pretty efficient setup, and I'm sure this place is only going to grow in popularity! read more

Indoor seating here is ver limited. Also keep in mind, STREET PARKING!!!! Drinks: 2/5 I had an iced chai latte and more than half was ice. Additionally the chai flavor was very mild, it honestly just tasted more milk than anything which was disappointing. Service: 2/5 I think because it's still so no they are figuring out a lot. When I was there the cashiers only had one working machine for credit cards so the line was very long. The lines also they need to get under control. There were three different lines and I got frustrated once I realized only one was really moving. Think there is a better system to be discovered here. Overall: 3/5 Service and drinks need work. I went a few times at the end of last year and it was always really, extremely crowded which makes it hard for me to get a read on how I feel about this location. Good for them, absolutely glad they have business, but it can be really hard to find a seat. Many of the tables lack shade and get scorching hot in the sun. You have to queue up quite a while for drinks and food. Maybe when it gets slightly less crowded I will try again. The food is ok, but definitely was not happy with the guacamole. I don't think it was real avocado. I think they were using calabacita (a type of squash) instead of avocado because it's more cost effective. read more

We saw this beautiful garden of lights in the evening as we walked back to our Airbnb. We were intrigued but it was too late for us to adventure in as we had a 13 yr old with us. This one is 21 and over after 5pm. Yes, this memorable spot closes to the young ones in time for Happy Hour. Dogs welcome anytime. The coolest spread out configurations of tables and chairs to make it very comfortable for dogs of all sizes. The food: We had the chicken tacos and Brisket tacos. Yummy but wait...The Bacon Avocado breakfast taco was unique and super yummy with the guacamole cream sauce. The best one of the bunch was my pick: the Chilaquiles Taco...need I say more? And finally the drinks: The Espresso vodka martini was creamy and tasty without any bitter coffee after taste. The best mocktail of the weekend award goes to the Liquid sunshine!!!
