Food: 10/10 recommendations are any sandwich, the chicken and chorizo empanadas, any coffee beverage especially espresso, and whatever pastry looks interesting to you. (I'm not huge on pastries) When to go: Breakfast, Lunch, or Brunch Size: small to medium for café Ambiance: Lively Spanish music, mostly merengue, bachata, salsa, and sometimes Spanish pop. Interior: Modern with Caribbean influence yellow walls and beautiful paintings that are actually for sale hung up on the walls. Restrooms: Yes, single room but clean so, fellas don't forget to clean up and ladies you too! I hate that people think they can leave public spaces dirty just because they assume someone else will clean it. What makes this place great: The fact that the theme is attractive, if they greet you in Spanish, it's on purpose and only serves to bring you more into a place of wonderful Cuban heritage and influence. Hands down best place for a little taste of Cuba. The bread...oh yeah I'm about to break down this Cuban sandwich for you from the top to bottom. Like I said let's start with the bread....out of this world. So fresh, so delicious, so Cuban! I haven't had such yummy Cuban bread since my favorite place in West New York, but now that I have this 7 minutes from me I won't be able to rest myself from going down there buying a loaf, loading it up with butter and pressing it down for some crunchy goodness. Are you drooling yet? I am! Next is the mustard so mustardy and delicious then the pickle. Oh pickle you give the Cuban such great support. Swiss and ham so perfectly added to give you that nice hint of salty goodness. Last but certainly not least the piece de resistance...the pork. Okay so clearly I've been around the block a bit to be able to judge a good pork on a Cuban. It has it's own elements. Medium sliced (not perfectly sliced because you just can't), slightest hint of juicy fat and moist and delicious. That is the true testament of a Cuban. So did they knock it out of the park? Absolutely! This will be my new breakfast spot for many years A little piece of Cuba in a non Cuban area is just what that area needed. I'm always on the lookout for a place I can get a reliable Cuban sandwich, so when I say this place I made the trek out to Belleville to give it a go. Overall, I was not impressed. All the rave reviews set me up for something magnificent, when I can only say that everything was merely okay. The storefront itself is very nice, as is the interior. Its clean, spacious, and new looking. It's set up like a café, with a bakery counter and several small tables. The decorations add a nice touch, it feels like a Miami café. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and all the sandwiches are made fresh as you order them. They also have a bread area with fresh Cuban bread and rolls, which a seriously difficult thing to find in my area. I couldn't resist snagging the last loaf for some in-car snacking. I ordered a Cuban sandwich and cortadito with 2 sugars to eat there, and a guava and cheese pastry and rice pudding to enjoy later. Unfortunately, despite all the great stuff present, the Cuban sandwich and the guava and cheese pastry were underwhelming and the rice pudding was pretty standard. The sandwich was very dry due to being overstuffed with shredded pork. There wasn't enough fat in the pork to moisten it, and the cheese and mustard were insufficient to make up for the dryness. Normally, overstuffed sandwiches are a good thing, but this proved to be the exception. While the guava and cheese pastry had a delicious, flaky crust the interior was about 70% air. Boo. What filling was present was very good, I just wish there were more of it. The rice pudding was good but unmemorable, I wouldn't order it again. Not worth the hike for me, if I lived a lot closer I might frequent there for a cortadito and to pick up some fresh bread. The other food doesn't justify a 30 minute drive. read more

We traveled a good 40 minutes to get to this place. My fiancé and I were really looking forward to eating "pasteles" and other Cuban pastries. This place completely exceeded our expectations. It's a hidden gem & although it was a bit of a travel we look forward to coming back. The staff is so friendly and attentive and knowledgeable. When I am in this neck if the woods I try to stop here and get something great to eat. Today it was eclairs, mini fruit tarts and a piece of coconut bread pudding. They were out of my favorite, the coconut cupcake! I tried their sandwiches today, the Cubano, yum, and the pollo loco, a heated chicken with chipotle pepper and swiss. Very good. The coffee is nothing short of spectacular. The service is pretty quick. I have had the chicken empanadas, the guava and cheese pastries, and I've tried their cheesecake as well. Thus far all of tge food items I've tried have been very good. This little cafe reminds me of some of the lovely spots on Miami that I miss so much. Came for the Cuban Sandwich about 6 PM based on Yelp review. Maybe it was the time of day but I was very disappointed. While there were elements of some great flavor and a lot of meat, the freshly cooked pork was very very dry. A review I read said it was juicy but mine was far from it. As I said, maybe it was because it was late in the day and meat was not in a juice of some sort. I actually started to hiccup as I usually do when consuming very very dry food. As of yesterday, this was one of my favorite places to get my breakfast and coffee. After running a few early morning errands, my sister and I decided to stop by Sweet Cortaditos for our favorite breakfast sandwich (bacon, egg and cheese on Cuban bread). After glimpsing at the menu on the wall, I noticed that throughout it, the only reference to the word, "eggs" was the word "tortilla," which means omelette in Spanish. I asked the girl at the counter what was the reason for that and she said, "it means the same thing." Alright, I am not claiming to be a Spanish major, but as a Puerto Rican with Spanish as my first language, I know that "tortilla" is NOT the translation for "eggs." Anyways, reluctantly, I went on to place my order. I asked the girl for eggs cooked "over easy," (con la yema blandita). As suspected, when the first sandwich came out the kitchen, of course, it was a "tortilla"/an omelette. I was annoyed and cancelled the order. Then, when the second sandwich came out, my sister decided that she would not mind eating the "tortilla," but then realized that the inside of the "tortilla" was cold and so was the cheese on top of it, like straight out of the refrigerator, as in a deli sandwich, clearly not what she envisioned eating. What was most annoying to me was the snarky girl behind the counter that insisted that the sandwich has always been prepared the same way, with "tortilla" and her apparent disregard for customer care as she shrugged her shoulders as if she could care less when I asked to cancel the order. My take on this is that this nook, may be trying to save time by cutting corners and by doing so, they may be pre-making "tortillas" and storing them in the refrigerator for reheating up at a later time. Needless to say, I will not be patronizing nor recommending the establishment again! ps. Omar's in Newark will be our new spot. They know how to make a sandwich to order and, more importantly, the staff treat customers with respect. read more

This place is a true Latin bakery. Clean, quaint little place located in the middle of Belleville. Prices are extremely affordable for some amazing baked goods. Must have: Tres Leche, Rice Pudding, and Guava Pastry! OMG the best I've ever had. I purchased 4 baked goods and 1 snapple for a total o $9.65. If you have ever been to Miami or Union City for Cuban pastelitos, croqueta or a Cuban sandwich you probably will be disappointed here. The display inside is nice. The staff is nice. The croqueta was oily and not meaty enough (not enough ham), although they are large. The Cuban sandwich had dry pork in it, probably from the day before. Mustard was nice but it definitely needed fresher bread, more ham and some mojo. A great amount of cheese in the guava and cheese pastry. An equal amount of both would be wonderful but that's being picky. It's priced to its quality. I probably won't return unfortunately. read more
