We had a terrible experience at The Corner Cafe. It is a long story. Please bear with me. We came in after church to a small wait. There were only about 2 people ahead of us, tables of 2 each. We were a table of 3. We put our name on the list, and were happy to wait. I had to repeat my husband's name 3 times before the hostess understood, and he has a pretty normal name. Another family of 3 came in after us, talked to us about how long the wait might be, and put their name on the list AFTER ours. When a table for 3 became available, a different hostess decided to seat the family of 3 that came in AFTER US. She completely skipped us on the list!! When the original hostess came back, I asked her what happened, and she told me, "Your name must not be written down." WHAT? First of all, my name was written down. I saw it on her list. Secondly, SHE was the one that wrote our names down and did not remember. WOW. I kept my calm and pointed out my name on the list to her. When she confronted her other hostess who sat the people ahead of us what happened, the other hostess looked at me, just shrugged her shoulders, and looked the other way. Like it didn't matter. No apology. Just blatant rudeness. I couldn't believe it. She continued to ignore me as I stood there glaring at her. The sad thing was the other family who took our spot KNEW they came in after us. Even asked US what the wait was. The wife looked down her nose at me when she stole my table to rub salt in the wound. The humanity. We have gone previously to the corner cafe for breakfast and really enjoyed the diner-like food and small town atmosphere of the cafe. We were excited to add them to our brunch rotation. After this experience, we will NEVER EVER be back and will tell everyone we know about their absolutely incompetent staff. The funny thing? When we went the first time, the waitress said to us: "I don't know why the hostess seats everyone in the back like this. So strange." If their own wait staff is complaining about their hostesses, that should tell you something. At least that time, I got a table. I will never want for another table again. read more

Came in for a group of 4 for lunch. The wait was fine. The male host was great. Very friendly. He said it was to be a 10-15 minute wait. Which it was. Got seated and it was nice start to lunch till it turned for the worst. No server for about 15 min. I had made plenty of eye contact with other servers. No one moved. Even made eye contact with the manager. Then The male host came over got us our drinks and apologized. It was fine at-least we started to have service. Then a female server came over asked us if the host got our drinks and we said yes then she walked away. After 5 minutes, finally came back to take our order. My group ordered salad and two wraps and I ordered a Buffalo Chicken Wrap with no tomatoes and fries. After 30 minutes of waiting for food, We asked for boxes. We got boxes and then asked for drink cups as well. Missing lid for a drink cup. The food came out on plates and we boxed our own. My wrap had tomatoes, when I asked for none. My groups meal had a missing side. Also the salad was missing items. Missing lids for sauces and dressing. The server seemed mad that we were leaving and rushing us once we got boxes. Then the Server was no where to be found to get a bill. The nice male host helped us pay so we can leave. I will attempt to try this place again, but this experience I would not want to go back. read more

The food was pretty good. I got the country breakfast with the sausage and french toast (which was amazing). The only critique was that the potatoes and sausage were rather bland. However, everything else was good and I had good service so I would definitely come back. read more

We were looking for a place to stop after for lunch on the way to Baltimore Just stopped in here and got the steak sandwich . It was delicious with fried onions and portobello mushrooms . The staff was very friendly. Great find read more

If I could give 6 stars I would. They have a good assortment of menu items, covering the palate, and covering breakfast and lunch. The staff is friendly, attentive, but allows for difficult orders, or slow decision making. If my glass ever made it to empty, they were right around the corner to refill it, and worked with custom orders from both of our kids. I can't recommend them enough! read more

I love this place for breakfast. It ranks up there with Hollywood Grill in Wilmington and Hank's Place in Chadds Ford. I order the country breakfast (substituting crispy home fries in place of the meat) with poached eggs and upgrade to real make syrup, toasted hawaiian bread (this is a must) and a side of hollandaise. Delicious. My coffee cup is never empty and the service is friendly. Being seated in the back can seem a little cramped and out of the way, but the food and service are worth it. read more

This is a pretty decent place for breakfast. The chocolate chip pancakes were good without being too sweet and the sausage was good. Love the decor of the Rat Pack and Marilyn Monroe. I think that you should be able to go up and pay without the server bringing change back to you. read more

This place always has great food, but I only go there for breakfast. It's packed on weekends, though getting a table never takes too long. When I asked for cream cheese and salmon on my bagel, they looked at me like I had a third arm. One suggested grilled tuna as a replacement. If you want lox in this town, you have to go to the grocery store and make it yourself. read more

I would rate the food a solid 4-star, the service, and the server, not so much. Roxy, the server I had, had absolutely no personality. She didn't even give me meal suggestions nor give me water. She kept calling me "sweetie", which I took great offense to, and told her that. She acted as if she didn't want to be here. I finally made my order of the corner burger and she asked if I wanted mayo, and I said no. I mentioned to the hostess about my displeasure, and Jane, their manager was summoned. I explained what was wrong and she was very apologetic, and mentioned other customers had problems with my server in the past. Well, the food came, and there was mayo on my burger, after Roxy asked if I wanted it, and I said I didn't!! Well, Jane had the burger brought back and fixed the right way. The only consolation? A free refill on my iced coffee. The server finally brought the water. Unfortunately, it seemed too little, too late. Jane even asked that she hoped I would stop back again, I said I would if I was in the area again. But, if there are mediocre servers like Roxy still working there, I wouldn't come back. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice...well, you know the rest. I want to give the experience a four-star rating just for the food, but a one-star service dropped the grade down considerably. I am a frequent customer to the Corner Cafe and know to expect a bit of wait on a Saturday morning however, today's experience was ridiculous. First, the host(s) were seating parties of two at 4-top tables and considered asking guests to move when they realized the next seating was a party of four but had no 4-tops open? I have actually been asked to move in a past visit to the restaurant, but my family and I refused as we had been sitting for some time and our food had been served! Hence the long wait today. While waiting, I was able to observe more weirdness since there's a clear view into the kitchen from where you stand and wait for a table. There were employees who needed something to do (like help bussing) as they actually had time to lean on the counter and chat it up with coworkers, or best yet, throw a towel up in the air, hitting the ceiling and kicking up a bunch of dust..gross! This all,while people are standing in front entrance, hungry and waiting. But wait, there's more. An employee/cook came out of the kitchen to socialize with what seemed like his wife and his baby. Others servers and the cook held the baby behind the counter right next to where they run hot food out and coffee, what the? So we finally get seated and nobody comes to our table for about 5 or so minutes. We couldn't take it anymore so got up and left. read more

My first time there. I was delivered a sweet tea which I hadn't ordered. The waitress thought she recognized me as a regular. I am a tea drinker, but this particular one was much too sweet. Ordered the mushroom soup. Mistake. Mushrooms tasted basically uncooked and the soup may have been hot at some time in the past, but not now. My main course was the crab quesadilla. The crab must have taken the night off and not notified anyone. A thin layer of oily residue on the outside of the quesadilla did not do much to enhance the flavor. I think that I had made the correct choice by not visiting this establishment before. read more

The Corner Cafe used to be excellent. Recently the service has gone down hill, and the food has been terrible. I don't know if it is due to new employees or what? They used to serve huge breakfast wraps, now they seem to be more wrap than filling, and they forgot the potatoes! The service skipped seating my family when they went a couple weeks ago. I have only been here twice but both times I was beyond pleased. The staff is marvelous! Jess has fancy eyelashes and is so energetic but still great and accomodating. The counter staff from welcoming me to checking me out were great. I ordered the crab and roasted red pepper omelet, i was blown away by the taste, quality, and appearance. So compliments to the cooks! We waited about 10 minutes to be seated but so worth the short wait. This cafe was recommended to me by many people. And i pass on my recommendation. The cafe is a warm, welcoming, family friendly, and an affordable place to eat breakfast, lunch or even dinner on their late nights. I highly recommend Corner Cafe and plan on many trips back!!! #newfave read more
