This place use to be our go to place for a quick decent meal. We went there for dinner... we don't get that much, for 2.5 people. The food was horrible, it was cold, there was pieces of eggshells in the meat, a hair on the plate. The management didn't care at all. So we paid our overly expensive meal and left. I've been eating at this restaurant 30+ years and the breakfasts have always been delicious and filling. Simple country cooking is what I enjoy. The breakfast buffet is good and the menu selections are good. Staff and the "coffee wench" are always pleasant and attentive. Counter seating, booths, and tables accommodate parties of all sizes. Today I have sausage gravy on freshly made biscuits with home fries. Just wonderful and plenty of good coffee to wash it down. If you want a good home-style meal, it's hard to beat the post house. I ordered the crab stuffed broiled flounder last week and it was perfect. There was a huge pile of crab filling that had plenty of large lumps sitting on top of a buttery fillet. I would have paid $30 or more at any other restaurant. Mine was less than $15, and I took home lunch for the next day. I prefer their breakfasts to Perkins and Cracker Barrel and I have never been disappointed. However, be forewarned that their gravies and soups are way too thick. A spoon will stand straight up in a bowl and never fall over. Honestly. I always ask if they have been thinned down but the answer is no. Such an easy fix. We know several servers by name, but they are all friendly and attentive regardless. Now for the ambiance...Starting outside, it is sad and decrepit. It needs so much TLC, including a good weeding, some paint, and color and signage. It is not inviting and I have trouble getting some friends to go there because of that first impression. The interior is a sad hodgepodge that I would describe as shabby Dollar Store. Diner comfort isn't a high priority and everything is so old, tired, and sad that it can't look clean. But it is. It really needs brightness and color. TLC! My judgment? Great American comfort foods, well prepared, tasty, and very reasonably priced. Attentive and caring staff. If you can stomach some visible decay and sadness, inside and out, you will have a great meal. read more

We have been here at the Post House a few times and most of the time we have has good food and very good service. Today though you all missed the mark on the service part. We sat for several minutes after seating ourselves when someone called for us to do so from somewhere as we didn't see them. The server finally came over and took our order, not the friendliest we had by a long shot. Anyway my main reason for writing this is to let you know that while your servers were huddled in their area together, a couple came in sat and waited and waited and neither server even realized they were there after awhile they simply left to go elsewhere. In the past 20 years, my family and some of my coworkers have eaten here many times and have enjoyed the experience. Tonight my family ate there and found it was under new management and a new menu with much higher prices. I had the chicken fried steak and it was so overcooked! I had trouble cutting it with a knife and even had trouble getting the fork into the pieces! When i went to pay, they have now discontinued the senior discount! Definitely not senior friendly!! It was a busy Sunday morning. Upon walking in, I was immediately seated and given a menu. I noticed the restaurant appeared clean and well kept. After a lengthy wait, a waitress with a full tray of food, took my drink order and said she would be back for my order. After two more minutes she was back. I told her that I was having the breakfast buffet. The buffet had all of the staples, and a first for me, fried eggs on a buffet. The food was fresh and hot. The menu orders I saw going to the nearby tables appeared to be well prepared. All in all, it was a good experience. The food was good. The slightly slow service was only due to volume. I worked at the post house! Do not eat there! It's really gross. They leave goods including meat, out for hours and they put prepped food in the walk-in cooler with no labels, dates or lids. The kitchen is not clean. It's not that the place is old, it disgusting. Sorry if you have eaten there and are reading this. I didn't eat a bite of food when I worked I would bring in my own bottles drink. The ice maker and soda machine never get cleaned and the ice maker is out in very disgusting room that looks like a barn. So gross. Beware you may get sick! The only good things is the "brought in" pies and that's why they are good they are not made at the post house read more

I came to this location a long time ago and was disgusted by the food. However just started coming here a few months ago and it isn't that bad. Food is similar to diner food. I think the place itself needs an upgrade and I think the waitress's are attentive but not the greatest. I think the menu needs some different items on it. read more

Not sure why the past reviews were so low. Maybe the Post House read them and made some changes, who knows. We just moved to the town, so that could be a possibility. Well anyway, we have eaten here twice so far...the first time I had the chicken parm and spaghetti dinner and I must say...the portions are huge!!! I left with a to go box. It was very tasty, but I would've loved a thicker sauce and my spaghetti. The second time there, I had the grilled chicken over a bed of yellow rice. The plate came with 2 grilled chicken breast, not too thick or thin. My only complaint was I wish it was marinated prior to being grilled. The outside was seasoned, but when you tasted it you could tell it was thrown on the grill then seasoned. The next time I go, I'd like to try their Friday/Saturday night buffets. I took a look at it while making a salad and there were bbq ribs (very meaty looking I must admit), baked chicken breast, halibut and several types of veggies. I tried to give them 4.5 stars but I can't do it on the app so I'm giving them the other half because the staff was awesome!!! read more

In the category of diners with 1001 items on the menu this was average. Stopped by at 7:45 on a Weds. Night--2 other tables seated. Had hot turkey platter--was pretty much what you'd expect although the mashed potatoes did seem to be a least partially home made. Salad bar included with dinner. We've been here maybe 6 times in the last year. I usually get breakfast for dinner. But the last 2 times, I opted for the "prime rib special." Oddly, this "special" is the same price everyday. Both times they served a baked potato leftover from the day before. you can always tell - they're never hot and the inside skin has blackened. The vegetable sides are always unseasoned - possibly canned - and always take on a 'pea soup green' color & served floating in boiled water. I am so over this place.
