Crab cake, zucchini, twice-baked potato
Mike O.

FOR THE WIN. Simple, normal, but excellent food, prepared and served by a polite, friendly and genuine staff and crew. This place is O.G. Local. And that's the honest truth. FIND IT just as you enter the heart of downtown, on the right side. Park street side, or in the lot nearby. These times of COVID are really difficult. And our favorite and dear diner restaurants and the staff that support us are struggling to survive. What a pleasant surprise to FIND THIS LOCAL GEM among the eateries of North East. +++ crab cake. Teeming with crab, moist and flavorful. + twice-baked potato feels like a family tradition. Nice! + fried zucchini fresh and hot. Win. done without the marketing machine and budget of some of the other spots in town. Yes, the whole thing seems a candidate for a reality-show remodel-makeover, but I think it would somehow lose its charm and history. PONDERING When I think back to the "local" spots of my hometown, before the age of real haute cuisine whet our appetites and became mainstream, and screaming reality chefs redefined our expectations, it was places like Pier1 that we went to on Friday and Saturday nights with our families and friends. Places where the owner works alongside staff to deliver an experience that felt like welcoming you into their home. Thank you.

Chicken Francese is the best I've ever tasted!!!

Food and service was amazing! Very friendly workers. My sister and her husband frequent this restaurant often and rave about their food. Portion size is enough for two, so always take home enough for lunch the next day. Bread is fresh and made in house. Give in a try next time you're in North East, MD.

The food is good and wait staff is nice. Currently have fall hours that are not reflected on Yelp. I've included a picture with their Fall hours.

They allowed us to upgrade from the standard medium crabs to no. 1's for only $5 more. The only problem was, we had nowhere to eat. The server suggested a park on the water about 2 miles away. It was nice with pavilions and picnic tables. Would have been better if it wasn't so windy and cool, but we survived. It would be nice if the trailer added a few tables and maybe a portable toilet.

So now I can take a 25 minute ride and feast safely. My wife died last year after a long illness and it's been 3 years since I cracked crabs. Eating crabs is a social event and we always had them for a crowd. However, I'm on my own now and seldom have company for dinner, but today I said heck with friends. I want some crabs. These folks sell a Bay Box consisting of 3 perfectly seasoned crabs, about a half pound or more of shrimp, and a tasty ear of roasted local corn on a cob. $20! Perfect for my appetite and wallet. I'm thinking I could do this at least once a week. I can't tell you how wonderful these folks are. Great food AND service so I am going to get names to share with you tomorrow. I think it's really important to recognize people who make our lives better and share their kindness so freely. It's a cute little, colorful building with a big front covered porch and shaded outdoor tables for eating. Comfy. My new go-to crab house for singles or a crowd.

Since I'm Italian, and we don't eat crabs this way (we clean them entirely before cooking) I had the Chesapeake Chicken sandwich, which was okay. Others had crabcakes they were equally lukewarm about. While the fries came highly recommended, mine came cold and were sent back, after a long wait. The coleslaw was enjoyed, the deviled eggs were not, since they, yea, ran out, by 3:30PM on a Saturday. All in all an interesting place constructed of a sand "beach" inside a tent attached to a crab shack. The service was lacking but I attributed that to a lack of staffing. Huge outdoor tents with picnic tables and a sandy floor really set the scene for us. We ordered a bucket of beer and dug in as soon as our trays of crab came out. Good, but not strong or spicy flavors and our server was Jane-on-the-spot to offer up another helping when she saw us getting low. The AYCE comes with corn & Hush Puppies, which are tasty and not too large, but I personally left behind the extra carbs in favor of more crab pickin'. The kids from a table near loved the sandy floor, occupying themselves building small sandcastles while their parents enjoyed a similar Crab heavy table - so great for families. Pro tip: Make sure to grab a table that's level - the sandy floor and hilly ground make for some tilting table-tops so beer placement must be careful!

They were so meaty and cooked perfectly. No need to fight to get the meat out and that's when you know it's cooked right I also did get the Maryland crab soup, honestly I would skip that. Need to ask for more butter because one cup isn't enough for the amount of hush puppies you get. Fried tomatoes were delicious, my husband finished the whole plate. Fried chicken was really good - they are known for their chicken. It was properly seasoned and crispy. Will definitely be back to try additional dishes. Margaritas were perfect.

Yes, you get the sounds of a forest stream in the background, which - let's face it - we all find oh so soothing. It's up there with sitting by the window on a lazy summer afternoon with rain lightly pattering outside. That patter, you know the one. The food is, well, it's creek food. Food that you could envision eating by a creek. That means fried haddock, black and bleu bacon cheese burgers, and the driest looking cheese steak I've ever laid eyes on. Oh, and patty melts. If you can look past the mosquitos, which I suppose you could say is part of the charm, then Snatcher's Creekside is a perfect catch. As an added bonus to everything you've just read, I have just three words: off street parking. This is actually huge since the further you go north on Main Street, the parking gets scarce and private lots charge a buttload. Also, how can you not like their motto? "Hey, we're Snatcher's. Come 'n git it." How I adore small town charm. Ok, that's not really their motto, but I swear I saw it on a t-shirt when I was down there.

It came with a really good dipping sauce and was... goodish. There was definitely a LOT of cheese, and I would have liked to see more crab. But the food wasn't really the whole point of this visit. We sat on the deck, drank some beer, listened to music, watched the boats, and made some new friends. And sometimes, that's a pretty damn good Sunday night.
