When we want to have great comfort food, we drive from Towson to Aberdeen to come to Mamie's Café. We know we will always be warmly greeted, get the best service, get the best comfort food, enjoy the decorations, and leave really happy that we came all that distance. That all happened today plus we wanted to introduce our friends to the restaurant. Olivia, our server, was the best. She had a fantastic personality and really made us feel so welcomed and at home. Brenda, you have a star here! We started off with an order of Fried Onion Rings. They were fried to perfection - were huge and were very tasty. Our friends ordered a Grilled Turkey Reuben on Rye Bread loaded with sliced turkey, sauerkraut, 1000 Island dressing, and melted Swiss cheese and a Mamie's Open Faced Hot Sandwich with a huge amount of fresh-baked Turkey Breast topped with gravy and another huge amount of mashed potatoes (check out the pictures). I enjoyed my favorite sandwich, which is Mamie's Favorite Triple Decker Shrimp Salad and Crab Cake Club with chips. My husband was taken aback with the size of his Country Fried Steak and mashed potatoes. Everyone had something to take home with them. The portions are more than generous. The one thing that Mamie's always does that makes them stand out from all the other restaurants is that they give you a free dessert. We were all so full, we took our to go. We took 2 rice puddings and 2 cinnamon cakes home to enjoy later. We had a great time a Mamie's! read more

Their name is not bluster, as we felt, saw, and tasted love throughout our visit on a weekend night, packed with fellow diners. Huge parking lot gives patrons zero issues. Their decor is truly unique, and calling it eclectic isn't doing the interior justice. Every inch of Mamie's oozes Americana, and celebrates Aberdeen's past. Awesome photos, hilarious knick-knacks and items, and history is on full display. Loved their fun theme. Our meal was very good, and our server Tyler did a good job on an extremely busy night. My Meat Loaf meal was delicious, and the baked potato plus carrots were yummy. My dining partner loved her Stuffed Shrimp, potato salad, and beets. read more

We stopped here based on reviews as we were in town for a baseball tournament and didn't want more fast food. Service was warm and friendly and food was fabulous, albeit slow but given everything was so fresh and homemade it really outweighed the length waiting. Stopped off for food on our roadtrip. Few mins off the I95, in a busy mall is Mamie's. A cozy casual throwback place with great comfort food. We had corn fritters (must), mussels (fresh), 1/2 1/2 soup, seafood broiled platter. Platter came with crab cake, scallops, stuffed shrimp, broiled fish, stuffed oyster. Big enough for two. Visually, this restaurant is endlessly interesting and entertaining. I would hope to be seated in different parts of the restaurant in future visits just so that I could take in more of it. Our servers couldn't possibly have been more attentive--definitely on their A game. I ordered the crab-stuffed broiled flounder. My partner got the fried shrimp & oysters entree. After 4 days on the road, we were looking for a good place to get a healthy, fresh salad. We found Mamie's, liked the idea of supporting a local restaurant and getting more handcrafted fare. Bingo! We ordered Greek and Caesar salads to go, and they hit the spot. My Greek had added shrimp, and there was a generous serving, not just a visual sprinkle. Same with my wife's chicken add-in on her Caesar. My Greek was also full of feta and olives, elements that often get scrimped elsewhere. Both salads were huge; I had my 2nd half for lunch the following day. The woman running the till was very helpful and hospitable, and if we had dined in I'm sure the service would have been great - Mamie's had a wonderful family restaurant vibe that made me comfortable away. Mamie's is located in a strip mall, and there are competing Applebees and fast food franchises around. But walk into her homey decor and sample her authentic offerings, and you'll know you made the right choice. read more

Mamie's is a welcoming atmosphere from start to finish. The menu looks interesting at lunch and dinner, but we were there for dinner. They offer great sides and I'll recommend the coleslaw right away. The fried oysters were a bit overcooked which was disappointing, but the stuffed shrimp were great, the Caesar salad was crispy and the service was highly attentive even if the kitchen was a little slow. We really enjoyed the "free dessert" perk. I think this is a great spot to check out, and you can even look for Elvis on the way to the restroom. I saw him! read more

Take out works quite well. Being from out of town, crab cake was a must and this place did not disappoint. The best crab cake I've ever had...and when you hear all crab no filler, this is it. Comes with your choice of 2 sides so 1 cake + sides is a lot of food. Plus I had a choice of cake or brownie...and the brownie was clearly homemade. I also had the Maryland crab soup which was very delicious as well. Inside is super quaint with funky decor but it's cute. Everything was packed well for carryout. Great place with delicious food. We are playing at Ripken and didn't want fast food and loved our meal! The chicken salad sandwhich was giant and the fries were so good! My son got a club and it was literally 4 inches thick. The bacon, turkey, and fresh veggies made an amazing sandwich. At the end of the meal there was an added surprise, they ordered us a brownie for free. I do not live locally anymore, and am here visiting my mom who has been in the hospital for quite sometime. My Mom comes regularly to Mamie's and treated us when we come to visit. I wanted a taste of "Home", and knew I wanted cream of crab soup. The woman at the counter was extremely nice, and we chatted while I waited to get the soup to go. I came here over 10 years ago but came back for a coworkers going away. The restaurant is very eccentric, full of nick nacks. The menu was very extensive and full of comfort food and the prices super reasonable. I ordered the grilled cheese and maryland crab soup. Both were very good. I had the rice pudding to go. Stopped here on the way home from CT to VA. We were greeted warmly and sat right away at 3 pm. This was the Saturday after Thanksgiving so the roads were full and the restaurant was busy as well. The the of us started with their homemade soups - chicken noodle, Maryland crab, and cream of crab. All three were excellent. We weren't starving so had 'appetizers' as our entrees. The seafood quesidilla was outstanding, and so were the corn fritters. Topping it off was the complimentary dessert! Mamie's will be a regular stop on this route from now on! read more

Decided to try this restaurant based on the reviews we read. We ordered Old Bay wings to start with and they were delicious, fried to perfection with the perfect amount of seasoning. Next came pretty much a whole loaf of warm bread, which was absolutely delicious. Our meals came with salads, which were quite generous. All of the portions we saw being served around us were enormous and that was true for the delicious chicken fettuccine Alfredo and chicken marsala. Both of these dishes had wonderful flavor!!! The steak was OK. We were surprised to find out that our meals also included dessert. Needless to say, we each have at least one other meal from our leftovers along with a dessert. Without delving too deeply my mom is in the hospital, over 2 months now, and I'm missing her. Came here by recommendation from my boyfriend for some home-cooked deliciousness. Spectacular service, very quick! The bread was warm and soft. They really know how to cook their calamari- absolutely perfect, not overly chewy, with tangy marinara. Filet with crab cake was alright, filet a tad overcooked and the crab cake did have a bit of filler but for $35 with 2 sides you just can't beat it. Mash and gravy was delicious, gravy overflowing, and the green beans were nice and flavorful. Free brownie for dessert and they even packed me a pepsi to go. Most assuredly will be returning, hopefully with my mom. The ambience was delightful and the old music kept a smile on my face. read more

Do not eat here. The fish was not fresh. It tasted funny at the time but we did not inform the manager until the next morning after suffering food poisoning overnight. The manager then refused to waive the cost of the one spoiled fish entree from a much larger total bill. The staff was pleasant but the manager doesn't understand the restaurant business. Broiled Shrimp stuffed crabmeat was tasty (but not a big fan of the hollandaise style sauce though, but a matter of preference). Broiled scallops were tasty. Cool spot. Stopped in on a Sunday midday. We were sat quickly, water and drink order taken within moments. Big menu! You could find a mix of seafood, salads, sandwiches and comfort food like roast beef, turkey etc. I had a seafood club sandwich. Part crab cake and shrimp salad. The space is interesting and comfortable. Service was decent. Portions were huge and the complimentary dessert they let take home with us was a nice touch. I think if we stuck with more diner-type basics, I could give a better rating. While portions of our Italian meals were very generous, the food was very bland. My pasta was supposed to be in olive oil and garlic. No garlic taste at all. The tomatoes were very light in color and had no taste. Parmesan cheese came out in a little plastic cup and had to be broken up. Given the good reviews, we expected the food to be a little better and seem a bit higher quality. I'm really not sure what to think of this place. There were definitely good points, but unfortunately the bad points really stuck out in this instance. Let's start with the wait times. Definitely a negative. We were seated at 5:45pm (party of 4); the food came at 6:25 and the order wasn't even complete, my daughter's food took another 15 minutes. We weren't about to eat without her, so....well, definitely not a strong point. I had the open-faced hot beef with mashed potatoes. Adult B had open-faced hot turkey with fries. My daughter had chicken Parmesan and Child B had stuffed shells. I will say that the portions are generous - maybe a little too much. I ate half of my food and still had a full, complete meal left over. My daughter couldn't even make a dent into hers. Drink refills were also quite generous. My issue with my particular dinner was that it just tasted bland. I had to add a LOT of salt and pepper to try and fix it, but....eh. The beef slices just had little to no flavor. It was kind of like chewing cardboard, if I really want to be honest. The mashed potatoes weren't much better. The gravy was pretty good, though, which helped. I tried a little of my daughter's dish and definitely was not a fan. Also quite bland, which red sauce really shouldn't be. We all took boxes home. It was just too much. We did get free dessert afterwards, which we had at home later. This is what really surprised me - the rice pudding is probably the absolute best I've ever had. I was NOT expecting that after what was pretty much a bust of a meal. Also, they charged an extra 5 on top of the meal for "credit card processing". Okay, if you're going to do that, please post that somewhere so folks know. We'd have brought cash if we knew that, and it came as a rather unpleasant surprise. So, would I come back? I'm not sure. I loved that rice pudding, absolutely. But I suspect we're going to give our leftover boxes to the dog, to be honest. They're not an appetizing prospect at this point. Being in Maryland, I always like to order crab. I ordered the crab cake melt. The presentation and taste was terrible. The cheese used was American out of the plastic and melted on the crab cake. The taste was bad enough that I had to leave. The service was good and the manager did not charge me since I didn't like the food.
