There are two hostess stations, one at the door that they don't use and one hidden in the back, hard to see in the dark. Hostesses were mildly clueless. Waitress was pleasant but slow, considering we were her only table. Room was chilly and they played cringey R&B a little too loud. Bread was cold, stale. Entrees and steaks were excellent. At the end of the meal, I went to use the bathroom. An employee was in there doing his business. He came out of the stall, spent approximately 5 seconds washing his hands, and left. We made the hour drive, just to be seated and was told our 1 year old daughter couldn't have her sippy cup in their restaurant.. so we told them that's fine, we will buy a kids drink. Friends of my frequent this restaurant at least once a week! We had the opportunity to join them recently and sat at the bar. The service was great and the bartender made numerous specialty cocktails. I had the steak tips dinner and a Caesar salad. All of the food was fresh and delicious. I highly recommend. read more

Upon walking inside you are greeted by an environment which makes you feel comfortable and welcomed. The bar was full, tables mostly full so I would recommend to call ahead and reserve a table. Service was good, if you are on a schedule allow time for your meal to be prepared. I ordered beef tips in peppercorn sauce with mashed potatoes and fried green beans. DELISH! The portion was hearty and I was unable to finish so a takeout tray was needed! Enough to fill the belly one more time! Stopped in last minute for dinner and spotted seats at the bar. We ordered cocktails and the crab dip. Drinks were good and the dip came out hot and bubbly. Loved the cheese, crab meat and the buttered toast. It was a little salty but very good. For dinner I had the Steakhouse Pit Beef & Fries and my husband had the Ribeye. My Pit Beef was so tender and the au jus was very good. The Ribeye was cooked perfectly - he loved every bite. We decided to share The Big Fat Carrot Cake - wow! Every bite was amazing. I really wish I had read the reviews before coming here because they were absolutely spot on. Had I realized this restaurant was trying to position itself as an upscale dining experience, we simply wouldn't have come. We don't take our two-year-old to fine dining restaurants because we understand there's a time and place for that. What we did expect, however, was human decency. From the moment we walked in, the staff made it clear our daughter wasn't welcome. When we asked for a high chair, the eye rolls started. As my husband was helping our daughter get settled and she asked for her apples, one of the waitresses actually gasped as though she had witnessed something outrageous. Our daughter wasn't screaming, crying, running around, or disrupting anyone. She was talking, as two year olds do. The way the girl looked her up and down, as though she had no business being there, was genuinely shocking. What makes it even more ironic is that this came from someone whose profession is hospitality. We came ready to enjoy dinner, order drinks, order steaks, and leave a generous tip for good service. Instead, before we were even seated, we were made to feel like an inconvenience simply because we had a toddler with us. Thankfully, we walked over to Woody's, where we were welcomed immediately and had an absolutely fantastic experience. The difference in quality service couldn't have been more obvious. If you're going to market yourself as a fine dining steakhouse, then create a fine dining experience. Fine dining is about more than what's on the menu. It's crisp white tablecloths, polished place settings, water glasses waiting at the table, a professional host greeting guests when they arrive, attentive service, and an atmosphere that makes people feel welcome from the moment they walk through the door. Instead, you're greeted by an absolutely mammoth bar dominating the entrance, no proper hostess stand, no warm welcome, a musty smell, and worn deck seating that feels anything but upscale. This restaurant pleasantly surprised us. It has two sides - a loud bar side that is fun, and a quieter restaurant side, where we dined. They have a large menu and the food we ordered was delicious, from steak to sushi! The presentation of the food was also very beautiful. I said no even though I had taken one small bite out of 1 scallop & she never asked if everything was ok, just brought the bill. The rating on this place is a travesty, it's the main reason I'm leaving a review. It's the only nice restaurant in North East. Ive had dinner here many times and each time it's amazing. You get what you pay for though, that's the only downside. But the steaks are great. Service has been good in my experience as well. When you walk in and you see how busy it is that should speak to the quality. Restaurants in town are rated higher, but some of them are downright terrible. This is a restaurant with excellent sushi--and surprisingly poor hospitality. Let's start with what worked. The sushi was genuinely outstanding. Clean, fresh, thoughtfully prepared. The chef was knowledgeable and gracious, even explaining curing methods and fish sourcing. That part of the experience felt intentional and refined. Everything else felt transactional. Policies here are unusually restrictive for a restaurant charging premium prices: * No wine tastings--only half-bottles or bottles. * Wasabi costs extra. * Splitting a steak requires a $10 "extra plate" fee. But policies alone aren't what sank the experience. Service did. My wife approached the bar to ask a simple question about the Chardonnay selection. The bartender abruptly snapped at her to move away from the service area--no greeting, no explanation, just curt dismissal. When the manager arrived, instead of listening, he immediately defended the bartender, saying "everyone loves him" and that "there are two sides to every story." He then questioned us for not knowing what constituted a service area--despite there being no signage. There was scoffing, defensiveness, and zero apology. That's not how guest concerns should be handled--especially when guests are spending $70+ on shared entrees and being charged extra for plates. The octopus dish was cooked well but paired with a tomato sauce that felt mismatched and distracting. Execution without cohesion. If you go strictly for sushi and keep interactions minimal, you may enjoy yourself. But if you expect warmth, guidance, or accountability when service goes wrong, this place will disappoint. Brought my wife here for her birthday. First time. Everything was great - service, special touches , apps, sides but I have to take a star off for my steak. This is supposed to be "the best steaks in the USA" and , with little alcohol, the tab was $300 including tip. I've eaten a proper NY strip and this wasn't it. I used my hand to signal to the waitress how thick I expected from a "steakhouse" and she agreed. I travel and entertain clients for work all the time so I know what a proper NY Strip looks like. I also always get my steak rare. It was a strikeout on both. Steak was definitely med rare and thin like the steak you get on a Friday special somewhere. My wife's rib eye looked great and it was her birthday so I wasn't messing around with sending it back. Other friends have said they've enjoyed other items here so maybe we will come back. Nice buzz for a Monday. Nice Hostess. Pleasant server with good timing. Had sushi, sashimi, raw oysters and, oysters on horseback. All very tasty. He had the filet, I tried the duck. Both properly prepared. Cheesecake was large, outstanding, with generous graham crust and brûlée top. The only miss was the risotto was considerably undercooked, much more than al dente. If you look at any of my previous reviews I hope you'll notice that I've mostly left 5 star reviews so I hope this adds some credence to this low rating. We went to this restaurant with a group of 6 looking forward to a good meal and nice experience but ended up with one of the worst nights out ever. We ordered drinks upon arrival and were surprised to see my standard old fashioned show up in a brandy glass full of soda ice. When I tasted it, it had some sort of club soda in it and was nothing close to what I had ordered. No big deal (yet) as the waitress politely took the drinks back and exchanged them for a straight bourbon we asked for as a replacement. We then ordered two appetizers - a sushi roll which was ok and some very good pork belly slices. When they arrived we ordered our salads and main dishes. After waiting for over a half hour after we ordered, we started to notice that 3 tables who arrived after us had received their meals (which were similar to our steak orders) and one was already getting dessert. When the waitress finally reappeared we asked about our salads but were told they were coming with the main dishes(???) which was strange. Another 15 minutes passed and one of our party asked to speak with a manager as we were clearly unhappy with not being served and wanted to see if there was an issue. ANOTHER 10 minutes passed and no one came out to talk to us (the main dining room was not full so no it wasn't a crazy busy night) so, fed up, we decided to leave. It's then that the manager came out, and was the most rude and unprofessional restaurant employee we've ever dealt with. Instead of coming out to see why his customers were upset, he directed us to sit down and when we pushed back, he threatened us with calling the police if we didn't stay and pay for the meals (which were just then being brought to our table). We brought up some of the issues we had - one, the bad drinks, with his response stating we got what we ordered (even when we told him that old fashioneds don't come with club soda etc.) and that the replacement drinks were premium bourbons (we ordered Rabbit Hole Cavehill - a very good brand but not premium, and we never asked for them to be free or discounted!) so we should be grateful. Again, never one apology or inquiry into why we were upset but just aggressive and insulting treatment. When we mentioned the long wait and how at least 3 tables who arrived after us were eating and finishing their meals before we were even served, he said it was due to our two appetizers (???) or what we had ordered (we ordered steak in a steak restaurant, and one of the tables who came later and were served first even had a time consuming tomahawk steak served and eaten before we saw our ribeyes). All information from the manager was relayed to us in an aggressive manner. Having had enough and just wanting to leave at that point, we asked that they box up all of the food that they just brought out and we paid our bill (we didn't ask for any discount or comps and of course, the manager never offered one). On the way out we asked for the name and number of the owner, and to our further shock, the manager who had treated us so poorly was also the owner! In summary, if this guy had just come out and said he was sorry for what had occurred and let us know what the issue was (even if it was just something simple as the waitress not getting our order in), we would have understood and sat down and enjoyed our meal, but the owner failed as a manager and as an owner who should take responsibility for what goes on in his establishment. read more

Enjoying a sampling of oysters, soup, a sandwich, scallops (which I absolutely loved), a salad and beverages. We wanted a taste of everything! This diner/steakhouse was a gem we inadvertently found when making a stop from New York to Virginia. The steakhouse was attractive, but a little dark and needed an update. Our waitress, Maliyah, was a delight. We could not have asked for a nicer more accommodating person to serve us. She made sure that everything we ordered was made to perfection and periodically checked up on us to ensure everything was as we requested. The food was exceptional. We ordered a steak which was one of the best we have ever had. Not only was it cooked as ordered but was delicious. My husband had the fried oysters which were excellent. Even the baked potato was great. Not too hard, not too soft, just right. I would highly recommend this steakhouse and our waitress. Absolutely disgusting experience. This restaurant treated my baby nephew horribly, and I will never step foot here again. They refused to give water so his parents could make his formula, which is not only heartless but completely unacceptable. When you treat a BABY like an inconvenience, you've already failed as a business. The staff was rude and nasty from the moment we walked in, making rude comments about the stroller as if families aren't allowed to exist in public. Instead of showing basic human decency, they acted annoyed, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. Customer service was nonexistent; no empathy, no kindness, no accountability. To make matters worse, the restaurant itself smelled absolutely horrible. Between the foul odor and the even worse attitudes, the entire place felt dirty and uncomfortable. Nothing about this establishment was welcoming, and the environment was not suitable for families or anyone who expects basic respect. If you have children; or if you simply value decent treatment; do not come here. There are plenty of places that understand compassion, cleanliness, and customer service. This restaurant rarely disappoints. We went tonight on the off season with no reservation (and that was our mistake). The place was slammed and staff was a little stressed when we arrive at 8:00, but after a short wait were able to get a seat at the bar. Place was filled with a lot of friendly regulars and locals and the food and service was spot on as usual. Many friends recommended this place, and yesterday was my first visit with my family. I ordered the Delmonico--the sauce was a bit salty, but the steak was incredibly flavorful and tender. My husband was very satisfied with his 21 Day Dry Aged Bone-In Ribeye Steak. Side dishes required an additional charge; I enjoyed my Risotto, which balanced out the saltiness of the steak sauce, and the portion was generous. Since there were no kids' meals, my son opted for Bacon-Mac & Cheese and Tuna and Salmon roll. The fish was fresh, though the sushi rice was slightly firm. Had the most bizarre experience here last night. Went to celebrate a friend's birthday. Service felt disorganized from the get go. Example: two guys ordered old fashioneds. They were served in stemless wine glasses/fish bowls with a lot of crushed ice and maybe seltzer? Soda water? It was weird but let that go although they were sent back and asked for bourbon on an ice ball. Ordered one appetizer for a table of 6. Our reservation was at 6:15. We didn't dilly dally as one of us had to get to work at a hospital due to impending snow storms. 7:45 we still had no food. No other drinks had been ordered. A salad was ordered but never received but when we inquired were told they were going to serve it with our meal. I'm trying to keep it simple but also want to share relevant details. Watched tables seated after ours receive their food and move on to dessert so we are wondering what is going on. Ask to speak to a manager. More wait. Ask again. The manager comes out of the kitchen and this is where things get out of control. If you've ever been in this situation chances are the person comes out and asks what is going on and offers some kind of explanation like the kitchen is backed up (it wasn't busy), or the waitress was new, an order got lost, whatever...but this guy comes out clearly not in the frame of mind to talk through this. Aggressive and bully-like mentality from the get go. Honestly never seen anything like this. We explained the drink problem and his response was a derogatory, "You got what you ordered." To keep it short, we asked our meals to be boxed up (not a discount for anything btw), never an apology, just embarrassing and shocking. We all kept asking, "Where did this all go wrong?" We still don't know. Turns out the manager was the owner and head chef!!!! Positively dumbfounded with the whole experience. If he would have simply come out with an apology or simple "Hey guys. Sorry about this." things would have deescalated quickly. No accountability for the numerous things that had gone wrong. Ok so I will start off that as we arrived (all 12 of us) we were told that no strollers were allowed in the dining area ok not a problem......as my buddy had his 7 month old baby with us......so he takes the stroller back to the car as the lady in the front said it cannot be kept in the waiting area....So we sit down going over the very overpriced menu but I was settling on a high-end cut of steak A hostess approached the table and stated that we had to leave and when we asked why she said you brought in a outside drink(8oz bottle of Poland spring water for baby formula)and that is against our policy. The special was a delicious - a chef's take on their Filet Mignon burger and I think it came with fries bit the burger was so amazing the rest of the food is a blur. Was looking for a nice spot to have dinner while I was in the area. Restaurant is on a one way road, few parking spaces outfront but i'm sure you can find other parking. I arrived @6pm on a Wednesday evening. Sat down in a booth at the bar. The seat cushions were really comfortable and you sit rather high up. Ambience was nice! I had the steak teriyaki (medium) that came with mashed potatoes and green beans. Delicious! Quite a few TVs in the bar area.
