Service was good, if you are on a schedule allow time for your meal to be prepared. I ordered beef tips in peppercorn sauce with mashed potatoes and fried green beans. DELISH! The portion was hearty and I was unable to finish so a takeout tray was needed! Enough to fill the belly one more time! Sat at the bar at 2pm. Eggplant appetizer was excellent. Bit into bacon wrapped day scallop & it was cold/raw on the inside which turned me off I didn't eat anymore - just that bite. Bartender was friendly but stood with other employees on other side of bar while they ate so she never asked me how they were. She asked me if I wanted a box after I asked for the bill. I said no even though I had taken one small bite out of 1 scallop & she never asked if everything was ok, just brought the bill. I put a $100 bill on the bartop with the check to pay my bill & she loudly made comments /jokes about oooh ok big bill etc & she really shouldn't do that. If you look at any of my previous reviews I hope you'll notice that I've mostly left 5 star reviews so I hope this adds some credence to this low rating. We went to this restaurant with a group of 6 looking forward to a good meal and nice experience but ended up with one of the worst nights out ever. We ordered drinks upon arrival and were surprised to see my standard old fashioned show up in a brandy glass full of soda ice. When I tasted it, it had some sort of club soda in it and was nothing close to what I had ordered. No big deal (yet) as the waitress politely took the drinks back and exchanged them for a straight bourbon we asked for as a replacement. We then ordered two appetizers - a sushi roll which was ok and some very good pork belly slices. When they arrived we ordered our salads and main dishes. After waiting for over a half hour after we ordered, we started to notice that 3 tables who arrived after us had received their meals (which were similar to our steak orders) and one was already getting dessert. When the waitress finally reappeared we asked about our salads but were told they were coming with the main dishes(???) which was strange. Another 15 minutes passed and one of our party asked to speak with a manager as we were clearly unhappy with not being served and wanted to see if there was an issue. ANOTHER 10 minutes passed and no one came out to talk to us (the main dining room was not full so no it wasn't a crazy busy night) so, fed up, we decided to leave. It's then that the manager came out, and was the most rude and unprofessional restaurant employee we've ever dealt with. Instead of coming out to see why his customers were upset, he directed us to sit down and when we pushed back, he threatened us with calling the police if we didn't stay and pay for the meals (which were just then being brought to our table). We brought up some of the issues we had - one, the bad drinks, with his response stating we got what we ordered (even when we told him that old fashioneds don't come with club soda etc.) and that the replacement drinks were premium bourbons (we ordered Rabbit Hole Cavehill - a very good brand but not premium, and we never asked for them to be free or discounted!) so we should be grateful. Again, never one apology or inquiry into why we were upset but just aggressive and insulting treatment. When we mentioned the long wait and how at least 3 tables who arrived after us were eating and finishing their meals before we were even served, he said it was due to our two appetizers (???) or what we had ordered (we ordered steak in a steak restaurant, and one of the tables who came later and were served first even had a time consuming tomahawk steak served and eaten before we saw our ribeyes). All information from the manager was relayed to us in an aggressive manner. Having had enough and just wanting to leave at that point, we asked that they box up all of the food that they just brought out and we paid our bill (we didn't ask for any discount or comps and of course, the manager never offered one). On the way out we asked for the name and number of the owner, and to our further shock, the manager who had treated us so poorly was also the owner! In summary, if this guy had just come out and said he was sorry for what had occurred and let us know what the issue was (even if it was just something simple as the waitress not getting our order in), we would have understood and sat down and enjoyed our meal, but the owner failed as a manager and as an owner who should take responsibility for what goes on in his establishment. read more

This restaurant pleasantly surprised us. It has two sides - a loud bar side that is fun, and a quieter restaurant side, where we dined. They have a large menu and the food we ordered was delicious, from steak to sushi! The presentation of the food was also very beautiful. Loved the cheese, crab meat and the buttered toast. It was a little salty but very good. For dinner I had the Steakhouse Pit Beef & Fries and my husband had the Ribeye. My Pit Beef was so tender and the au jus was very good. The Ribeye was cooked perfectly - he loved every bite. We decided to share The Big Fat Carrot Cake - wow! Every bite was amazing. This diner/steakhouse was a gem we inadvertently found when making a stop from New York to Virginia. The steakhouse was attractive, but a little dark and needed an update. Our waitress, Maliyah, was a delight. We could not have asked for a nicer more accommodating person to serve us. She made sure that everything we ordered was made to perfection and periodically checked up on us to ensure everything was as we requested. The food was exceptional. We ordered a steak which was one of the best we have ever had. Not only was it cooked as ordered but was delicious. My husband had the fried oysters which were excellent. Even the baked potato was great. Not too hard, not too soft, just right. I would highly recommend this steakhouse and our waitress. This is a restaurant with excellent sushi--and surprisingly poor hospitality. Let's start with what worked. The sushi was genuinely outstanding. Clean, fresh, thoughtfully prepared. The chef was knowledgeable and gracious, even explaining curing methods and fish sourcing. That part of the experience felt intentional and refined. Everything else felt transactional. Policies here are unusually restrictive for a restaurant charging premium prices: * No wine tastings--only half-bottles or bottles. * Wasabi costs extra. * Splitting a steak requires a $10 "extra plate" fee. But policies alone aren't what sank the experience. Service did. My wife approached the bar to ask a simple question about the Chardonnay selection. The bartender abruptly snapped at her to move away from the service area--no greeting, no explanation, just curt dismissal. When the manager arrived, instead of listening, he immediately defended the bartender, saying "everyone loves him" and that "there are two sides to every story." He then questioned us for not knowing what constituted a service area--despite there being no signage. There was scoffing, defensiveness, and zero apology. That's not how guest concerns should be handled--especially when guests are spending $70+ on shared entrees and being charged extra for plates. The octopus dish was cooked well but paired with a tomato sauce that felt mismatched and distracting. Execution without cohesion. If you go strictly for sushi and keep interactions minimal, you may enjoy yourself. But if you expect warmth, guidance, or accountability when service goes wrong, this place will disappoint. I used my hand to signal to the waitress how thick I expected from a "steakhouse" and she agreed. I travel and entertain clients for work all the time so I know what a proper NY Strip looks like. I also always get my steak rare. It was a strikeout on both. Steak was definitely med rare and thin like the steak you get on a Friday special somewhere. This was our second time to this bar and restaurant on Main Street in MD. This time however, we went for happy hour on the bar side of the restaurant. Enjoying a sampling of oysters, soup, a sandwich, scallops (which I absolutely loved), a salad and beverages. We wanted a taste of everything! Absolutely disgusting experience. This restaurant treated my baby nephew horribly, and I will never step foot here again. They refused to give water so his parents could make his formula, which is not only heartless but completely unacceptable. When you treat a BABY like an inconvenience, you've already failed as a business. The staff was rude and nasty from the moment we walked in, making rude comments about the stroller as if families aren't allowed to exist in public. Instead of showing basic human decency, they acted annoyed, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. Customer service was nonexistent; no empathy, no kindness, no accountability. To make matters worse, the restaurant itself smelled absolutely horrible. Between the foul odor and the even worse attitudes, the entire place felt dirty and uncomfortable. Nothing about this establishment was welcoming, and the environment was not suitable for families or anyone who expects basic respect. If you have children; or if you simply value decent treatment; do not come here. There are plenty of places that understand compassion, cleanliness, and customer service. The place was slammed and staff was a little stressed when we arrive at 8:00, but after a short wait were able to get a seat at the bar. Had the most bizarre experience here last night. Went to celebrate a friend's birthday. Service felt disorganized from the get go. Example: two guys ordered old fashioneds. They were served in stemless wine glasses/fish bowls with a lot of crushed ice and maybe seltzer? Soda water? It was weird but let that go although they were sent back and asked for bourbon on an ice ball. Ordered one appetizer for a table of 6. Our reservation was at 6:15. We didn't dilly dally as one of us had to get to work at a hospital due to impending snow storms. 7:45 we still had no food. No other drinks had been ordered. A salad was ordered but never received but when we inquired were told they were going to serve it with our meal. I'm trying to keep it simple but also want to share relevant details. Watched tables seated after ours receive their food and move on to dessert so we are wondering what is going on. Ask to speak to a manager. More wait. Ask again. The manager comes out of the kitchen and this is where things get out of control. If you've ever been in this situation chances are the person comes out and asks what is going on and offers some kind of explanation like the kitchen is backed up (it wasn't busy), or the waitress was new, an order got lost, whatever...but this guy comes out clearly not in the frame of mind to talk through this. Aggressive and bully-like mentality from the get go. Honestly never seen anything like this. We explained the drink problem and his response was a derogatory, "You got what you ordered." To keep it short, we asked our meals to be boxed up (not a discount for anything btw), never an apology, just embarrassing and shocking. We all kept asking, "Where did this all go wrong?" We still don't know. Turns out the manager was the owner and head chef!!!! Positively dumbfounded with the whole experience. If he would have simply come out with an apology or simple "Hey guys. Sorry about this." things would have deescalated quickly. No accountability for the numerous things that had gone wrong. My husband was very satisfied with his 21 Day Dry Aged Bone-In Ribeye Steak. Side dishes required an additional charge; I enjoyed my Risotto, which balanced out the saltiness of the steak sauce, and the portion was generous. The special was a delicious - a chef's take on their Filet Mignon burger and I think it came with fries bit the burger was so amazing the rest of the food is a blur. I also had the Tongue Twister Oysters ( brown sugar bourbon something) were good as well. But the man who made the day was definitely Joshua A. He provided the best and friendliest service. From the moment we walked into this establishment, we already felt unwelcome because we had 3 kids in our party. It was a huge deal because we had a large party that they gave us the run around about splitting up our party to make it easier on them... we had no issue at all splitting to make our party smaller. Then, we were rudely told about our 7 month olds stroller and how "there are signs everywhere saying you cannot have this here".. sorry but I did not see this sign. They would not let me collapse the stroller and leave it up front because of others possibly waiting up front.. ok I can understand that. My husband then goes and walks it out to the car. We were seated and then rudely told that I could not have the water bottle in my son's diaper bag for his formula because they "cannot have outside food & beverages" in the restaurant. I said this is literally for a baby! I use this to make his formula. They said I'm sorry but you cannot have this in here. We just felt like from the jump it was nothing but a problem with our family walking in with kids. Note to self, if you plan on dining here, DO NOT BRING KIDS! Very upset to see this restaurant go so down hill over the years, to start we were seated directly next to the host stand, people were literally leaning on our table and seats while waiting to be seated. When asked for bread we were given only 2 small butt ends of a roll. I ordered a Double Filet Mignon burger, which was dryer than the Sahara desert. I've been ordering burgers here for 5 years, while this restaurant has been on a constant decline over the years, it has never been this bad before. Had to put grandson on floor in seat like a dog! Sat out on deck. Not busy AT ALL!!! Said family with child left. Put booster on table next to us. Was told to remove it! Paid WELL over $450 to be treated with such disrespect and not one other table had people there! Steak & Main is a really nice local restaurant in downtown North East Maryland. The restaurant is located on the main strip (S Main Street) and was probably an old house at one time. The interior has a rustic charm with dark wood and leather seating. The bar area is really nice. and has an old world look and feel to it. My Dad and I ate here last Wednesday (10-27). We arrived a little after 5pm and was seated immediately. The place had a few patron dining both inside and out as well as a few people at the bar. By 5:30pm, they were hopping and busy. My Dad and I opted for a dozen oysters. We got six that were local to Maryland, the other six were Blue Point. I don't remember the name of the local ones but, they were bigger, plumper and more briny. Both were fresh and tasty. My Dad then got a garden salad which he enjoyed. For dinner I got the Maryland Crab Cakes with two sides (A-La-Carte) which were steak fries and sautéed spinach. The cakes were a little small but overall they were really good. My Dad ordered the lobster tail and, he didn't realize that the 18oz was an 18oz, lol. He ended up finishing it anyway. It looked delicious (he didn't share lol). Overall the food was great and the service was good. The only "ding" is: my Dad is elderly, has a tough time hearing and his mobility is limited. The host sat us near the bar and in a booth that was a little high for him. For him he had to step up on the foot bar that is under the bench, which was difficult. . Also, the speaker was right above his head and the music was a little loud. Anyway, I asked to be moved and was told that all the other tables were reserved. I did see reservation signs on some and not others. We ended up staying where we were but I think the staff could have been a little more accommodating. When I asked the host seemed to be a little annoyed that I did. Not a big deal but just keep that in mind when you come here with an older person. I'm going to start with the food because it was all most perfect. The Roasted Duck with the Orange Fig Chutney Sauce was delicious. The skin crispy, meat tender and juicy. The Duck came with Brussels Sprouts and Risotto. Brussels Sprouts good but Risotto not so good. The Filet Tips au Poivre, excellent. The tips were cooked perfectly, medium rare as requested and the sauce was generous and decadent. The mashed potatoes fell short. Would have preferred a creamy potato. The potatoes were too lumpy and tasted a little reheated. The Crème Brûlée Cheesecake outstanding. It was solely the potatoes and risotto why I rated four stars instead of 5. I would really say 4.5 stars. I forgot I had a half dozen Oysters on the Half Shell at the bar pre-dinner that were also outstanding. Sweet, briny and tender. Our dinning service was great. Very nice waiter who provided excellent service. The Hostess and Bartender were also very nice. I liked the bar area. It was crowded for mid week. I felt lucky to get the last two seats. The over all ambiance of the restaurant is very nice. There is a dinning room side that's a little more upscale but very comfortable. There is a casual dinning area near the bar that looks inviting. REALLY REALLY wanted to love this place. It was the only restaurant on this small street that would seat a party of 5 with no wait time. My family & I traveled from Virginia to NJ and since we were in Maryland we decided to get off an exit to visit Woody's Crab House. Unfortunately Woody's had a 40 min wait so we started walking back to the car when we spotted this restaurant. We read all the read flag signs but still went inside. On the inside: the ambiance was warm but the staff we met were as cold as all the signs. The waiter had zero personality & we couldn't ask him questions about anything on the menu cause immediately he would just ask if that's what we wanted. Okay....never mind. Moving forward the food all comes together, appetizers, soup & entrees -- fine. The calamari was smothered in sauce, the fish tacos were just ok. It was tough chewing through all the raw carrot, the crab cakes were just ok.. definitely the best thing we had were the beers. A nice cold Stella & a espresso beer (can't remember the name). I do not recommend this place. It's a really weird vibe from the signs (also in the bathroom) to the people & the food. I have to mention, this place is NOT KID FRIENDLY. Do not come here with kids, there isn't a kids menu, we ordered fries for our 3yr old. Overall, I gave a generous 2 stars just for the warm ambiance & being able to be seated right away. read more

All I can say about this place is WOW. We sat out on the patio and enjoyed some drinks before our food came out. I got a Strawberry Lemonade drink and boy was it good!! After ordering our drinks, we ordered the cream of crab and asparagus soup, Meat and Cheese Board, Pink Lady Sushi, and their Filet Oscar Special. Highly recommend their soup!
