Dieters plate with Tuna salad.

Having a hearty breakfast to start the day. The chipped beef gravy over biscuits hit the spot. The spam omelette with veggies was also a hit. The service was prompt and friendly. Tonight's special is chicken and dumplings. Wish I was gonna be back for it.

Locally baked chocolate cake with peanut butter icing

A fine place for a casual meal. We ordered two sandwiches and a grilled chicken wrap which all came with Utz chips and finely chopped cole slaw. The grilled chicken was flavorful and juicy. Bacon was thick cut and smokey. Local ripe tomatoes added just the right notes of acidity. All followed up with a giant slice of chocolate cake with peanut butter icing. Come for good food, but stay for the incredibly warm and friendly service. It's like going to your friend's house where their mom treats you like their favorite child.

Diner

The food and service were wonderful. There are about 6 booths and 5 tables. It is cozy and all I hope for in a small town diner. We had a roast beef sandwich with gravy and a hamburger. The cole slaw and macaroni salad are to die for. They make their own pickled eggs and since I'd never had one, I ordered one. We had warm bread pudding and ice cream for dessert. We feel lucky to have found this diner and hope to eat here again when in the area.

Back in 1978 I left Pennsylvania behind to pursue my dreams. In the ensuing 40 years, although I have never returned to Pennsylvania to live I have made the trip many times for visits. When I do, I typically pass by this small Cafe. And for 40 years I've been telling myself I should stop in but the time was never right. Today my bride and I decided to have breakfast on the way back home and we finally paid this place a visit. It's a shame that I waited so long! The small Cafe is mostly a hangout for locals, the kind of place where the customers greet the waitress by name and vice versa. The interior is small but comfortable, featuring about 6 booths and four or five four top dining tables. We were greeted as we stepped in the door and told that we could sit wherever we liked. Three or four tables were occupied by obvious locals engaged in post breakfast conversation. The noise gave the restaurant a pleasant hum but was not annoying. The waitress quickly took our drink orders and brought me a cup of extremely good coffee. There were several daily specials posted on a blackboard as well as an extensive menu. Being a Pennsylvania native I was hoping for some good scrapple, but alas the brand served here is Rapa which we do not enjoy. So I decided to pass and went instead for the eggs with Spam. I don't often eat spam but every once in awhile I feel a need for it. The chef here at the country Cafe knows how to make breakfast. The Sunny side up eggs and spam were cooked to perfection and the home fries very good. My wife opted for the French toast which she enjoyed thoroughly. Prices were reasonable and the restaurant is very clean to include the restrooms. Of note, they can't add tips on to the credit card payments so you might want to bring some cash.

Being stuck in the car with hubby in excess of 6 hours driving home from Southern Virginia is not a fun experience. But being stuck in the car, hangry (hungry + angry) is even worse. We were desperate for food. The first place I found via Yelp was closed (even though Yelp said they were open, grrrrrr...) so hubby surprised me by pulling up to this place. He grew up in this area and had been here before. I was skeptical....and hungry. For four days we were in rural Virginia struggling with lackluster food choices. This place seemed like it would be like all the sub-par places we ate at in Virginia. Thankfully I was wrong and pleasantly surprised. First off it's clean, more than one would expect for this location and establishment. The decor was dated but not overly so. Some attempt was made to dress it up and it did have more of a cozy, homey vibe than a dive. The menu was basic but acceptable. I was ready to start chewing on my arm at this point so anything edible was going to suffice. Hubby and I both choose burgers for the simple fact that they came with fries and cole slaw. Everything else fries were an upcharge. Not only were our burgers delicious (and cooked perfectly to order!) but they added grilled onions at no additional cost. The fries were handcut, a tad on the greasy side, but well above average. The cole slaw was served in a tiny cup and not bad for store bought. While hubby added some toppings I asked for some without and both orders came out correct with our modifications. They also had a few hand dipped Hershey's ice cream selections and a designated outdoor ice cream window. The cakes on the counter looked good and they had a few pudding and pie choices as well. Our server was warm and friendly and our orders came up quickly. Since the place was small noise carried, including the lady at the table beside us who talked off the ear of her dining partner about insurance. And the baby that fussed and cried off and on throughout our meal. We could hear every conversation and I'm sure they could hear ours as well. The bathrooms are right off the dining room and very tiny. Sound would carry there too so don't do a number two! It was a very good meal, one I'd return for next time we're down that way.

Adorable little country spot! Good place to grab breakfast if you're passing through.

Great spot to get some good southern breakfast food - grits, pancakes, biscuits, scrapple, home fries. Yum! It's definitely a mom and pop style place so quick service, in and out, home cooked food, and nothing too fancy.

Awards from the Cecil whig , the local paper.

This restaurant/diner is a little bit of heaven out in the middle of nowhere near the Conowingo dam in rising Sun, Maryland. Nothing presumptuous (except maybe the awards on the wall from the local newspaper.) Basic comfort Food: excellent homemade vegetable beef soup, your basic fish sandwich, with the best fries and coleslaw we've had in a while. We brought some of the coleslaw home and ordered more for Christmas dinner.

Don't miss Spread Oak.

You even get a warm water bowl with lemon for washing up when done. We also ordered the filet - yum, and the boneless chicken wings which were also tasty. The main focus was the crabs. So much so that I snapped pics on the way in and once the crabs were delivered I was elbow deep into Old Bay and couldn't snap any more. We also ordered dessert - crème brûlée and key lime pie. Do not skip dessert! Lots of things are made in house. Our server was absolutely amazing! I believe his name was Dale. Ask for him!! The mushroom soup was delicious and get the homemade meatballs! Highly recommend - ask for extra bread to use all of the delicious sauce served with them. The calamari is great as it also has shishito peppers and cherry peppers served with it and the flavor combination of those three are great. The flatbread was also good. Overall, very good food. Purchasing the suggested pairings (ahead of time) added to the overall experience. We also had wines that were brought on preference and the paired wines won out every time as they perfectly complemented the prepared courses. Our two servers were friendly and attentive, explaining every course and refilling our wines without asking. Present, yet out of the way. The atmosphere is very cozy in the back of the cafe at Talula's Table - the original table as opposed to the smaller kitchen table added a few years back. Reservations still take a year (though it's easier to snag a cancelation or weekday as they recently added online reservations in April 2026). However, it was well worth the wait (and I'm not sure why I waited so long to try it)! We left stuffed between the hors d'oevres, eight courses, bread, surprise course, and plenty of wine to wash everything down. Brenda, you have a star here! We started off with an order of Fried Onion Rings. They were fried to perfection - were huge and were very tasty. Our friends ordered a Grilled Turkey Reuben on Rye Bread loaded with sliced turkey, sauerkraut, 1000 Island dressing, and melted Swiss cheese and a Mamie's Open Faced Hot Sandwich with a huge amount of fresh-baked Turkey Breast topped with gravy and another huge amount of mashed potatoes (check out the pictures). The food is always fantastic. We have yet to have a negative experience at Snatcher's. On a warm evening, we prefer to sit outside next to the creek and enjoy a well priced pint of Loose Cannon overlooking the little stream. I love their specials. We have on multiple occasions ordered the pretzels with cheese and the dip was homemade. It doesn't sound like a big deal but if you've been served your fill of canned nacho cheese, you can appreciate a well made, house crafted dip. I also love their crab melt. As a Marylander for life, I love my crab. Can't get enough. Pathetic crab cakes break my heart. The very thought of crab on an English muffin sounds horrific but somehow, Snatcher's manages to pile on the most tasty lump crab imperial with melted cheese on a toasted English muffin in a way that makes me come back again and again. It is so good. Another classic not to be missed is the hangover burger. They will cook the burger to your choice of temp (which is my personal baseline for restaurants I will return to) and it's got a fried egg and bacon on it. Yes please! I would highly recommend Snatcher's to any friends and family looking for a good meal and great service at affordable prices. Arrive early - seating is limited and the place fills up fast.

If there's 8 people, and we order 2 orders of a dish that has a quantity of two pieces in the dish, tell us it has two pieces in it. We would order more at the time. Yes we could have ordered more when it arrives, but let us know, so we can make that decision in realtime which affects our entire order. Staff: Wonderful wonderful! As a restaurant working alum, I see all the hard work that everyone is doing. The small things that make a difference, to larger gestures. The hostesses having table wedges if a table is wobbly. A manager walking around greeting people and asking about their experience. Their kickass drink runner who never spills a drop when the drinks are filled to the very top. And the friendly waitstaff and food runners. Management: Once we were there and it was slammed. But they never missed a beat. However, management walked around and apologized to people for the wait because their online system wasn't working (we honestly didn't even think anything was awry) and comped something for a bunch of tables. Class act! Food: Always excellent. We try something new every time we are there and it never disappoints. FYI try their pasta. Beautiful! Drinks: We always order from their specialty cocktail section and they are always on point.

And, the plates remained once we hurriedly ate the food the "airline" pushed in front of us. The soups were delicious with the French Dip layered with thinly sliced beef (It was called a French Dip after all.) soaking in a rich onion influced broth accompanied by a soaked brioche crouton covered in melty provolone. The Butternut Squash Bisque flavored with asiago was definitely a winner too but before our soup course was 1/2 finished and with our Mediterranean Platter's tabouleh still showing its colors and enough hummus to later lead our waitress to ask if we wanted more pita ... the first entree was added to our crowded table. Not sure where the blame lies for the hurried appearance of plates but we were looking forward to a special evening out ... a birthday dinner choice ... a restaurant specializing in small plate dining should be well accustomed to serving diners in a relaxed manner. Upon their arrival I looked at the Schnitzel Medallions but wanted to enjoy the French Dip soup ... I knew the temperature of the food would be decreasing but the soup was so good. Why in the world would the first plate be served while we were enjoying our soup literally with soup spoons in or hands ... no, I did not hear that our flight was boarding ... we were in no rush but we were being rushed. So, now on the small table were our two soup bowls that we were finishing ... the plate still holding quite a bit of our Mediterranean Platter (We did expect to have some small talk after all it was a birthday celebration so we had leisurely started eating this appetizer.), we had the plates that we were expected to eat off of (Mine still had hummus and tabouleh on it.) and this brand new plate with pork tenderloin and asparagus. Maneuvering food became a needed skill. My dining partner put some schnitzel onto her "eating" plate letting soup cool ... I decided hot soup was more important than hot or even warmish pork so I continued to eat my soup but rushing soup made it less enjoyable. So, I finished my soup squeezing the empty bowl into a limited space on the table ... my "eating plate" was crowded still having hummus on it because I rushed my soup .. my dining partner said "yum the Schnitzel is good" while her soup chilled. I took the serving plate with the remaining Schnitzel and asparagus eating off it since it was the only plate with room. Before I took a bite the sliders arrived further crowding the table. Quickly the Butternut Squash Bisque was finished so that she could eat a hot well maybe warm Crispy Fish Slider ... I was still working on the Schnitzel knowing I was going to eat cold fish. And, as we both kept putting food in our mouths foregoing any conversation the Chicken Primavera arrived and looked picture perfect amidst the crowded table but finally the soup bowls were removed ... there's still hummus and tabloeh from that Mediterranean Platter that we didn't have time to finish and the waitress asks if we would like more pita ... sure ... I had just finished the cold slider and was about to try the chicken primavera. She also then noticed my water glass was almost empty and asked if I wanted a refill ...I did but had been so busy shoving food down my mouth that I just barely noticed I needed water (I actually knew I did but no one ever stopped by to ask.). And, just in case you're wondering... our flight still was not close to taking off from the terminal in this lovely lounge (It really is an attractive restaurant to dine in.) that reminded us of a classic airport lounge but it felt like a hallway fast food eatery. We had come to enjoy a leisurely small plate dinner with good conversation...celebrating a birthday before heading off to the theatre. You might be wondering why there are three stars rather than one. Well, the food was all really tasty. I would say it was delicious even though due to the rush the only food I ate that was hot was my soup. We finally did get back to that Mediterranean Platter and yes, we were given more pita and I wasn't rushed eating it because there was nothing left to be served. Oh, it looks like they have some nice outside seating for warmer days. We skipped the mixed drinks ... they looked really good and other folks seemed to be enjoying themselves.
