My friend and I were at the restaurant last night and I have to say I was very disappointed when we ordered our drinks we had a different server than we originally had when we were seated which was no problem at all she was very pleasant and she took her drink order and about 10 minutes later the drinks finally came and we were sitting at a booth right by the bar so I saw the bartender wasn't very busy so I don't understand why there was such a long wait for our drinks but once my drink arrived I noticed that there was a long dark black hair on the ice we waited another 10 minutes until the waitress came back over to check on us and when she finally did I showed her the hair in the drink and she said no problem I will have the bartender make you another drink and took it away, I watched the bartender chitchat with other other employees and laugh when my drink was brought back over to her then had to wait another 15 minutes now to get the drink that I originally ordered and now when it was brought to me i noticed it looked like a completely different drink than the first one that I have received with the hair in it and it tasted awful so I asked the waitress do you know why the drink looks completely different it's a different color it's totally different and she said it's because the bartender doesn't know how to make drinks that well and they hire a lot of people so she said she'll make me a new drink because she has made drinks behind the bar and is familiar with everything so I said OK no problem so now I had to wait longer for her to be able to make the drink after she checks on / brings food to her other customers at this point the appetizers had already come out, the salads came out and dinner was about to be brought out......... once she brought over the drink she made it was great, would I recommend the restaurant to any of our friends or family ? Absolutely not, with everything going on with covid we are completely understanding of staff being backed up and having to wait but this experience is one I find completely unacceptable from the hair in the drink to the nasty attitude the bartender had, to the entrees just being cold I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone it was definitely not with the $250 we spent there. Coquitos is an amazing restaurant with great live music. Very hip atmosphere, beautifully designed and decorated,friendly staff, great bar are. The food is excellent, probably the best Latin restaurant in Orange county NY. Whether you go there for drinks, to listen to live music or or for dinner, you will not be disappointed. In many ways I agree with most of the postings here, but the female owner is know to be especially rude to women who come either as singles or as a couple. Male female couples are totally treated differently. We are given lousy tables and if a bar seat is all we can get , we are constantlyI being asked to move to accomodate the male female couples.had my full course dinner at the bar which was fine, but the owner asked me to move to the very end of the bar where the servers were constantly in and out and putting the drink trays down practically on top of my food. A fellow patron who was sitting next to me commented on how rude it was and complained on my behalf that no one should have to sit in that spot. I am a local and many people who frequent that place know this is true. they are not getting any more of my money. read more

Food was mostly edible. Salads were OK, and the fish was more like rubber than food, but we were hungry and ate most of it. However, we returned the burger which was completely charcoaled. The manager insisted on charging us for it, saying he was a great cook, and if we didn't like his cooking, that was our fault, and not his. After saying that, he also added a few insults. Our recommendation: don't go anywhere near this place. You're better off eating to ice outside. read more

Went here visiting my mom in the fall, great cocktails, and we only had some appetizers but they were delicious. Highly reccomeded!

Love, love, love this place !!!. The food is delicious especially the mofongo and coquito chicken. The drinks are tasty and strong :). The staff is very attentive, having a reservation is highly recommended as the restaurant is small. So happy to have found this amazing Latin restaurant so close to home. I have had dinner at this restaurant several times over the past year. HOWEVER, this last time we went the hostess was extremely rude before seating us and told us we needed to be done with our dinner within the hour as she needed the table for other people. I brought this to the attention of the owner and he was just as rude. Would never done here AGAIN!! read more

Disappointing dinners. My grouper creole was fishy, salty and covered in what looked like enhanced thickened salty ketchup. My friend#1 had the lobster in garlic sauce; it was so salty she could not eat it and the lobster was fishy and rubbery. Friend #2 had surf and turf, lobster was fishy and the wimpy half inch thick steak was overcooked, not a quality cut of meat. Friend#3 had the lobster gumbo, salty and lobster fishy. Side order of rice and beans- beans tasted like they were from a can, nothing special. Ambiance nice. Unusual Cuban/PR latin menu. Bread and appetizers good, not great. Was our first visit, we were hoping to like the place; but were disappointed and will not be going back. read more

After years of patronage, my husband and I went there with two other couples last weekend. Immediately upon arrival, the owner told us the restaurant was very busy and we would not be able to stay for long even though we had reservations. After eating a dinner that came out incorrectly, feeling rushed, the owner took our very expensive and paid bill and told us that we had to leave because she needed the table for someone else. She then proceeded to start to argue with us about how long we had been there even though we only ate dinner not even dessert, in front of other patrons causing a scene. This was one of the worst experiences of my life. Again, we are long time patrons of this restaurant and have brought many family and friends here. We will never return here and never recommend anyone to go here again! read more

Have been to this place several times. The food is good and comparable to other places that feature Latin cuisine. The owners Annette and Bill, DO NOT accommodate couples who like to dine at a leisurely pace, (not like in a fast food place). This is especially so if you like to have some space and do not like being crammed at a table the size of a postage stamp. We have been denied a table of our choice on several occasions, in an EMPTY restaurent, outside of the normally busy dinner hours (arrived at 4:20 p.m.). We were told that they didn't know where they could sit us because they had so many reservations. They need not worry we will NOT be going back there again with or without reservations. We've also been told over the phone they don't take reseverations for 2 people. read more

Coquito has the best steak, it is so good, I personally don't like many foods reheated, but their steak I do. They have super good foods.

My wife and I started off with a coconut margarita and a coconut mojito...both were amazing. Then the crabmeat empanadas as an appetizer and grilled skirt steak...every bite was delicious! The service was spot on. What topped it off was that I accidentally left my credit card. Since we were from out of town, they offered to mailed it back to me. When I received it I saw that it was sent via certified mail. Top notch restaurant with owners that care. Highly recommend and will be back. Thank you! read more

Two of my girlfriends and I went here for dinner last night. It used to be the old backyard grill, so we were hoping that it was be just as good.....and it was! The place looked completely difference inside. I loved the new decor. Very dark and new york cityish. The place was packed but luckily we got a table right away. The menu was pretty big, there were lots to choose from. We started off with the croquettes. We only tried the beef and cheese. Both were really good, but I preferred the beef. For dinner my friend Amber and I had the salad with onions, cheese, walnuts and skirt steak. I thought it was amazing! It kind of tasted like the salad they served at the backyard grill, but better (this might be because I believe the same owner of the backyard grill owns this place). My other friend Cori had the salmon with rice. She said that her food was good, but not the best she ever had. I didn't try her food, so I couldn't really judge. Like I said my food was amazing, so I will defiantly be going back there! Oh and make sure you bring your own wine, they don't have a liquor license. Luckily I have a friend who works there and she gave us a heads up. The only thing I did not like about the place was that the owners were rushing us because a big party was coming in and they need our table. read more

Not our first time going and loved the food and service plus ambiance. Went this passed Saturday and the service was horrible. Ask for a drink and it took a half an hour to get. Ask for water it took 20 minutes to get. When served our appetizers the waiters said she would be back with our plates so that we can each serve ourselves and she never bought it. I ask to speak to the manager she said before going to him (it's going to be a while) how do you know if you have not even told him? I told her that's ok I'm here waiting. When he did come he had an attitude and really could not be bothered. In his rant he did ask us if we wanted another drink or Desert on the house, our food was finally coming so we said we were not sure if we would do desert or another drink he said ok if we decide it's on the house. After dinner we did decide on another drink so we order the drink when our bill came they charge us for the drink. I told the waiters the manager offered the drinks on the house. She went to confirm it with him and he came over fuming, I reminded him that he was the one to offer it so what was the problem. He stormed away. Needless to say even though the food is good if they continue down this path they won't be around for long, which is a shame cause all he had to do was treat us as if this matter, "Mattered". Came here while staying at the crystal springs resort and a day of snow tubing. Outside is very deceiving looks like a small house. You walk in and the smell of rice and beans and pork and mofongo. Went with a party of five tonight and I will say that we were accommodated for seating by Annette. Once we arrived we were seated immediately, but we waited a while for our waiter to come to our table to take our order ... Keep in mind this is a small place. Once our drinks arrived to our dismay they were extremely weak and watered down. got our appetizers no bread at first, but when it did arrive we were disgusted by what we found in the basket! Hair! Yuck! We told our waiter, his solution was to bring us another basket of bread. We still weren't satisfied so we requested the manager Annette. Her response was insulting ! A shrug of the shoulders and a verbal ok! Wtf! Nothing was done! Not even an apology given! Bottom line the service here was poor and the waiter extremely rude- Kevin. Took my family to this restaurant for my birthday....what a treat! We were looking for an authentic Spanish restaurant and found this! Everything was delicious. We started with a pitcher of red sangria, and it was sooo good. I was worried it wouldn't be strong enough, but it was perfect! Chicken empanadas had such good flavor! Then I had the beef Mofongo and my hubby the Churrasco steak! The Mofongo was so moist and had the perfect amount of garlic and seasoning. The steak was fresh and tender. Sweet surprise at the end with singing happy birthday with a piece of Tres leches cake. So sweet and everything was so much better than expected. Can't wait to go back! I highly recommend this restaurant to any and everyone who is close by. We drove 30 mins and it was as totally worth it. Enjoy guys!!! read more

We have eaten at Coquito a number of times and have never been disappointed. The food is authentic and traditional. The drink menu is extensive and they usually have a feature drink. The staff has always been attentive and customer oriented. Annette has been welcoming and accommodating. My friend loves the place given we normally have to carry him out. I came here with co-workers on a saturday night. We where seated at 8:30 didn't see a waitress until 9pm... then drinks came at 910 then we ordered. The waitress pushed the most expensive items on the list. Seafood and $30 steak and was unhelpful for other items on the menu. After we ordered they brought me the wrong appetizer. Then we didnt get our entree until after 10pm. By then the AMAZING DJ started and we all wanted to dance. We ate and got on the dance floor. Music was spanish but he also had some classic songs that was the best. After dancing for so long i realized a crowd of older men standing watching and videoing as we danced. I hoped he was doing it to promote the venue but i am unsure of his intentions. After an hr or two of expensive drinks and dancing we got our $300 bill that wasnt split... so the 6 of us figured out who got what and really put us in a bad mood. Then we realized more older men at the bar looking my coworkers and every female on the dance floor. After that i wanted to leave and felt as if the men videoing had bad intentions so we left after 30 mins of dealing with the bill... i have to say the food was great and music. Please bare with me as this is my first time writing a review so its a bit long: I'm so glad this gem in the middle of Warwick re-opened. I can't say enough good things about it and now they have new menu items which makes it even better! I recently tried one of the new items which was the mahi mahi and it was absolutely perfect. The sauce is amazing. I swear the cook is a genious to think of such wonderful, flavorfull combinations to satisfy your taste buds. Every item that I have ever eaten has been exquisite. The dishes are priced perfectly and the portions are large. The staff is amazing. From the wait staff, to the bartenders and the owners. Everyone is there to make sure you're satisfied. Last but not least, every Friday there's a Jazz band and every Saturday there's is a dj, both with no cover charge which I must say is a big plus. I especially enjoy going Saturdays to dance the night away (a great work out). Be on the lookout for DJ X. I have been there many Saturdays where he is the dj and he never disappoints.
