Absolutely recommend this restaurant if you're looking for flavor, great customer service, and good prices. I stopped here for something quick to take back to my hotel room while I was in town. The owner was at the counter and immediately greeted us and made us feel welcome. We had the alcapurrias de yuca and chicharrones. The alcapurrias were huge, flavorful, and fried to perfection. The sofrito they use is absolutely homemade and so so good! The chicharrones oh my so delicious and a definite must have. So sad I live so far and can't come here often. Oh my GODDDD! As a Puerto Rican raised on this style of food I give them my whole seal of approval. Since moving upstate I have tried & failed a few tomes to find restaurants that are as good or even better than what's available downstate. This place totally fits the bill. They offer a great selection, reasonable prices, quality as close to authentic as you can get food all with great customer service. The lady that assisted me both times I visited was so nice, polite and friendly. I ordered pernil (roast pork), chicken stew & beans & rice for a late lunch one day. I come here every so often when I don't feel like cooking. Food is "decent". Rice is way too greasy. Relleno de Papa exterior is a little too hard, the mash bland, the meat was very little but, flavorful. Alcapurrias need more meat as well and too greasy. Pernil sandwiches are good yet, not consistent. Sometimes they're well assembled with a good amount of ingredients and sometimes they are half empty. Pastelillos are "ok". Maduros are sweet but, kinda tastes like the frozen ones. Mayokechup tastes just like PR! I didn't try the tostones because my husband said they didn't taste like fresh ones. I sure hope we're wrong that they're frozen. Pernil always tastes good but, last time I ordered it unfortunately, was shredded way too much and was kinda dry. Julio is really nice but, I think you get much better quality and portions when the ladies are there. Before I forget chuletas are good. Flan had a slightly burnt coating, peeled it off and can honestly say it was delicious. Smooth texture, nice density to it, not overly sweet and the caramelo was indeed excellent. I'm impressed at how the flan filled the entire container. Would be great if they got some GoodO Cola Champagne, parcha and coco drinks for that special touch. read more

I had the chicken stew because they didn't have what I wanted. The owner/chef kept talking about how amazing the chicken stew is, like it's his main dish and it's the most popular, so I took his word for it. I was amazed by how tender the chicken was. The chicken would just fall off the bone without me biting into it. Next time you come here, just ask the owner/chef what he recommends because he'll tell you what's good! Their food is really good; though I have stopped going for my own personal reasons (the foods a bit to greasy for what I prefer to eat). That is not a bad thing though. It's how the food is supposed to be. I just prefer other kinds of food. The customer service is absolutely excellent. The restaurant is quite small but clean. It's in a great location right in the center of downtown Middletown. The owner has been making his business work for years and years. Online menu said 12.50' for pork dinners, 6.95 for 1/2 ** LB chiccarone 6.95( I ordered half of that) and Flan for 5.95. Should have been more like $36. Its funny cause one of the first reviews you see is this Bette. c person claiming they are ripping people off and doing shady businesses pretty heavy claim but if you read her comment it would show her math is terribly wrong she said they charged her 50 when they should have charged her around 36. she got three dinners at 12.50 a pop that's more then 36 alone 37.50 to be exact then she got the 1/4 pound of meat which would have been another 3 dollars or so that's 40.50 then she got flan that was 6$ that's almost 47$ plus tax would be 50$ smh it's sad when people don't even realize their own ignorance and to say these people there are basically robbing people Is crazy .
