hello gary, it's good of you to reach out and try to understand why i wrote a 2 star review of your restaurant. as there isn't a method of posting my reply to your comment, thus this review. as you may have seen from my other reviews, i call it like i see it, issuing 5 stars when justified, and 1 or 2 star when warranted. i certainly don't like to write a 2-star review, as that means my experience was below average, with 3 star being average. i will address your points with my embedded comments and try to amplify them for your benefit. i'm sorry you feel your visit warranted a 2 star, but after speaking with my staff, i'd like to clarify a few things. i understand your server was asked about the specials by members of your party prior to ordering drinks which is why she proceeded to go over those in advance.... not true at all!!! i never request to know the specials before ordering wine or drinks. in fact, whenever a server, like yours that night, starts to explain the evening specials, we interrupt them to say we'd like to order drinks first.....which is exactly what we did. she provided new share plates for multiple rounds of food as requested...we did not order multiple rounds of food. one diner ordered a salad before the mains. the other two diners did not order a starter. and did her best to carry away what she could handle at each table visit....we asked for additional small plates to share the two side dishes that we ordered to accompany our mains....that would be three small plates. whenever she appeared to remove dishes, she always left dishes on the table and did not return to retreive the remaining dishes. i also understand the tuna was sent back once and came out correctly the 2nd time....yes in fact the tuna was brought out twice as you correctly state. however, that was the 3rd time that dish was prepared (according to your server). the 2nd time it was prepared, the dish was rejected by staff before bringing it out, and your kitchen prepared the 3rd version which was then brought to our table. but because of the delay, we removed it from the bill.....that was the decent thing to do since the porterhouse for two had been eaten by the time the third person was served her tuna. i'm told the others in your party appeared gracious with our handling of the situation, which left us feeling we had resolved it to the best of our ability.....what was the point of bringing up a sad situation again that everyone was well aware of by then??? i'm confused by the claim of "living off its past" as nearly all of our recent feedback has been positive. we are human and mistakes do happen, so if there's additional feedback you'd like to offer on how we could've done better than 2 stars for you, we're always looking to grow and would welcome your suggestions....yes, mistakes and poor service exists from time to time. your staff would be best advised to be frank and honest with you about the experience we had. only from full disclosure can they learn from you and improve. ps...the resaon for this two-day delay reply to your comment is that i've been traveling and in business meetings. i usually post my reviews on yelp, google and/or tripadvisor. read more

Went to this establishment with my girlfriend. Heard a lot about it. In my opinion, a little disappointed. The atmosphere was spot on but the food was just OK. Highly disappointed in the cocktail prices versus the serving size. A Dixie cup at home would've had more in it. Overrated. read more

Cooper Spoon was amazing. From start to finish the food was excellent, service was top notch, and the drink menu was incredible. Think a book and I mean book with drink options for any palette. In Fort Wayne on business and this cool bar was near my hotel. Brief wit to sit at the bar was worth it. Cool folks working the bar and the mahi ceviche app and medium rare ribeye were spot on. Awesome place!! Was not far from my hotel and someone at the hotel desk recommended this place. Walk in and you have to show your ID, you have to be 21+ to enter. Sat by the bar, such an amazing vibe!! Huge list of alcohol, there is over 200+ whiskey/bourbons to choose from! I started out with a Smokey old fashion, really delicious, only odd thing is that it didn't come with a cherry! Monday night is the triple B, the burger (which was amazing!), beer (I choose a local Pilsner), and a shot (picked whiskey of course) for $15! Normally the burger is $14. So such a good deal. I also got the potatoes on the side (a must because it's delicious). All the staff and bartenders was amazing!!! Oh and Wednesday night is whiskey night, all half off!! What!!! We were in town for an event and needed a last minute dinner reservation on a Saturday night, so we ended up at the Copper Spoon. I had been here before, but usually just for drinks at the Sidecar in the summers. I was pleasantly surprised to discover how excellent the food was. They have a great menu, so it was difficult to decide. We ordered the Charcuterie Platter, perfect for 2-4 people, and the New York Strip Steak, yummy mashed potatoes and very garlicy broccoli. The drinks were also delicious, I had a dirty gin martini and my partner had the Maple Leaf. As usual, the service was amazing and the seating was intimate and comfortable. read more

Hosted a work happy hour at the Copper Spoon recently for 15 people. We started right at 5, and were the first inside. The front entrance totally shields you from seeing the dining room/bar area, which are really cool. The wall across from the bar is floor to ceiling bottles of bourbon. The service was very attentive, with lots of time to walk us through the extensive drink menu, as well as the locally sourced food options. We ordered most of the appetizers and really enjoyed all of them. I loved the grilled peppers - yum! We ordered steaks to share and I tried a soup they were featuring. All was excellent. We went to Copper Spoon last night. The environment is great. The service was impeccable. Arguably the best bar in Ft. Wayne. I ordered a strip steak , medium rare. Medium at best was served. Our server was notified immediately. It went back to the kitchen. My wife ate her meal, her leftovers were boxed, and maybe 10 minutes after that my meal was delivered. The occupancy of the restaurant was approximately 25-30%. We have enjoyed this restaurant in the past. We have gone there roughly 6- 10 times a year. I ask the manager to comp the evening. The point of going to a restaurant for us is to dine together. My meal was removed from the bill. Management did contact me today. Nothing else was offered other than an apology. There are great options in FW. Copper Spoon can and has done better. It is off of our rotation for now. I hope to hear of improvements soon. read more

Service has always been great. Their drink menu is outstanding and even offers mocktails. The smash burger is one of the best in town! Mondays they have a triple B special that offers a burger, beer, and bump (shot) for $20. Totally worth it. Oh! And don't skip out on their patatas. They're like deep fried mashed potato balls. Recently, celebrated my birthday at the Copper spoon. Can't say enough good things about this place. First off love that it is 21 and over. We ordered drinks, bumps appetizers, along with our main meals. Everything was delicious. Our favorites was the whipped feta, and the gravy back shot. Our waitress was very attentive, explaining everything as it was our first time. We look forward to returning, and maybe having a more casual night sitting at the bar. Been wanting to get here for a long time, and so glad I finally did! The atmosphere is dark and intimate with banquette seating tucked around the bar.... like dining in a wine cave. I would have liked to order much more than I did, I was still full from a late lunch. The smoked bourbon cocktail was amazing. My friend and I shared the whipped feta to start -- a delectably creamy spread topped with sesame seeds and baguette slices. From there, I enjoyed the heirloom tomato stack, a tower of sliced in-season tomatoes with mozzarella, onion and balsamic. My friend enjoyed her Korean wings. Three starters was plenty for the two of us, I'm just sorry I didn't have room in my tummy to order an entree; there were several tempting items! read more

This was my first trip to the Spoon since it changed names. The facility is still very nice as they didn't change much that I can see. Still very relaxing, cozy and inviting. It is nice that all the wine machines don't dominate the bar area now. The team is still very professional and friendly. Our waiter, Ethan, did an outstanding job. The owner delivered the food and followed up - nice touch since they weren't excessively busy yet. The bus boy was Johnny on the spot with water and dishes. He even ran out the door and side walk to give me my food I left behind! Well done team!! The menu is very small. I liked the small plate idea that the previous theme had. So I was disappointed that they have moved to a different format. For this visit we made dinner out of three aps: smutty fries, chanterelle mushrooms and heirloom tomatoes. The entrees just didn't appeal to my taste as the selection is very small. The heirloom tomatoes were excellent. A stack of fresh tomatoes with cheese and a basil oil mix. Very refreshing! A must get! However I think it will go out of season soon. The smutty fries were delicious as well. Potato cubes that tasted like tatter tots. The ground meat was sweet like a sloppy joe. The onions were an excellent accent. The jalapeño peppers were very mild. The mushrooms too were fantastic. There aren't many in the dish but they are delicious- almost a Smokey flavor that pulls out the mushroom taste. The onion, egg and gravy base was really good! I would definitely recommend giving the Spoon a try. We got there about 7p and walked right in on a Friday night. The bar became full by 7:45p - perhaps a later arriving crowd. Enjoy! read more

Have not been here since it was Wine Down. We were happy with the changes. The regular menu did not have anything we were too interested in but the special menu has things we were interested in. We felt like this place is a good alternative to Ruth Chris. I would still go to Ruth Chris but this is good to change it up. We really like that the special menu was printed and had prices. I do not like it when other places rattle it off and omit the price. The cocktail menu was so big it would take 10 full minutes to review. Have been here probably 7-8 times or so in the past few years and the drinks and atmosphere are a rather dapper vibe yet always on point. They have a decently large selection of unique cocktails and bourbons , and even have a shot that includes GRAVY! Have eaten dinner here once of those those times and was below average especially for the cost. There are Way better places in the area for around the same price if you're looking for a meal. Great place for dinner or drinks. Very moody lighting and atmosphere. Bar seating, cozy booths, and tables are available for seating. It is a tight space and very dark. They had a HUGE drink menu. They had specials on a separate menu but there is also a very lengthy booklet full of hundreds of different drink options. Drinks were very reasonable and very strong, so definitely worth it! This was an amazing restaurant. We started with two appetizers. We had the whipped feta, which was lovely with the fresh baguette. We added the warm olives and they matched perfectly with the feta. This is definitely out new spot for date night! Our first visit happened on Valentine's day. We arrived about 10 mins early for our reservation and the seated us almost right away! Conveniently located in downtown Fort Wayne next to Parkview Field, this place is by far one of the best restaurants amid the hustle and bustle of the city. Our waiter, Preston, was extremely attentive super knowledgeable and nice! We ordered the Valentine's day special which was a three course meal and was reasonably priced at $60/person. The food was prepared perfectly for every course. My only recommendation would be the timing of delivery for each course. They were rather delayed and seemingly planned that way. It just seemed to be an extensive amount of time between each course. We've been to a lot of high end restaurants over the years and never waited as long as we did between courses as we did here. The other recommendation would be changing their choice of music. There was no rhyme or reason for the music theme for the evening. The music did not fit the overall ambience they are shooting for, imo. If they fix those two things they definitely would have a five star rating! read more

Food was very good, salt and pepper oysters, diver scallops, and a burger with patatas. Drinks were fantastic, the best in town. Our server was quite nice. And being my wife's birthday she was given a free desert. The reason for 4 instead of five stars is because, knowing my wife's birthday was the Friday before Valentines Day I made reservations 2 weeks in advance for a table in the bar area. When we arrived at our scheduled time the hostess attempted to seat us in the little back room that is not in the bar. When i politely complained she said the bar area was full. When i then informed her that i had made reservations 2 weeks in advance and didnt care to be seated there she said she would try and find us a table in the bar, and to go wait back out front. Kind of embarrassing. Then in just a few minutes they told us they "found" us a bar table. Weird. Maybe it was because we are an older couple ? But it all worked out okay. read more
