Birdie's - unique dinning view of the Fort Wayne city scape First off, Birdie's isn't for everyone. Birdie's has a narrow food menu and focuses more on adult beverages. The roof top view of Fort Wayne is very unique along with a pleasent outdoor dinning experience is what draws me back occasionally. I would encourage you to try Birdie's once if you like unique dinning experiences in Fort Wayne. Now on to the review. Birdie's is located a top the Bradley hotel downtown. You might find street parking. Or you can try one of the nearby parking garages. We like the City County Garage that is located across from the Landing. Upon entering the lobby you will find your way to the elevators. Everything is well marked. The Bradley hosts are glad to have you. The restaurant is comprised of two areas - the indoor bar and outdoor seating. They do not take reservations for small parties. Apparently they rent out the whole or part of the facility if you are interested. On this night half the restaurant was rented for a rehearsal dinner. The bar area is large and good for larger groups. It is well decorated like you would expect from an owner that was associated with Vera Bradley. The seating and lighting are very comfortable. The outdoor patio is well covered. In the evening hours it blocks the sun so it is relatively cool even in a 90 degree night. The tables are generally limited to four people and few in number. There is a fire pit for smaller groups. No reservations...just first come first serve. Overall...we have always felt very relaxed no matter if we sat inside or outside. The team seems very friendly and service oriented. Our waiter was very professional. He was very attentive with refills. Things were very clean and in order. Note: Birdie's has crispy Brussel sprouts on the menu. You may pick ip this odor quickly if a fellow nearby dinner has selected this item. That may or may not be a problem for you. As mentioned...the food menu is very small. It's a two page menu. 1.5 pages are drink selections. So you can see where the emphasis is placed. There are two salads, a short list of sharables and entrees. Your food and drink bill can get rather pricey depending on your beverage selection(s). We started with the sweet corn hushpuppies and fried green tomatoes. The hushpuppies are smaller in diameter and fried to a deeper crunch. The outside has that traditional corn bread meal flavor. It is slightly oily to taste. The inside in very soft and slightly sweet. You get a few kernels of sweet corn in each ball. The honey butter is a nice idea. Tonight the butter was very cold, hard and difficult to spread. The fried tomatoes start with a VERY thin slice of tomato. This was thin enough that it didn't really let the flavor of a green tomato pop through. It had a thin but predominant breading. The breading has some of that traditional southern seasoning and oily accents. The Sirachca sauce was very tasty without adding much heated spicy flavor. Both were nice selections. My wife had the Indiana Cobb salad. She substituted grilled chicken for the fried chicken. The chicken came out nicely grilled and moist. The salad was very fresh. Not a wide variety of add ons...but enough to make a good salad. The buttermilk ranch dressing was like and pulled all the flavors together well. I ordered the brisket grilled cheese handheld. Two large pieces of Texas toast grilled with a buttery flavor. The bread looked like it was going to be overly crispy. However, it had a nice crunchy crust to go with the soft interior. The brisket was very good. The meat was moist and tender - still a little difficult to cut with a non-steak knife. The brisket oozed a lovely seasoned light BBQ meat flavor. The au jus drippings would have made a fantastic dipping sauce if possible - extraordinary tasty!! The bold cheddar cheese slice was nicely melted. Though its flavor really got lost in the seasoned brisket and crunchy breading. Overall, Birdie's is a nice addition to the Fort Wayne dinning selections. The unique views and relaxing patio make it a must try. I would encourage you to put this on your list to try at least once!

We went to Birdie's for the Winter Pop Up "Winter's Nest at Snow Birdies. It was really fun and we definitely enjoyed ourselves. It was a pretty chill option that wasn't so busy. Really enjoyed the fire pit and heaters. The server and bartender were really nice and attentive. The drinks were about $15. We didn't do any food this time.

Delicious food and good drinks. Really nice atmosphere, both in and out. Service was a little slow tonight.

Hidden gem! Loved the theme, ambiance, and food. The rooftop was magical. Visiting from Chicago, I felt at home. Andrew's service was outstanding. Can't wait to return!

Beautiful place for cocktails in a relaxed, quiet setting. The outside terrace was almost full but we ordered at the bar and found a seat on the rail. We didn't try the food, but the servers seemed friendly friendly and attentive to those who were dining. There was a nice fire going, sofa seating, as well as hightop tables and larger round tables. Lots of seating available inside. Just take the elevator from the lobby to the 5th floor.

The rooftop outdoor seating area is great. One of the best in FW. Drinks were delicious. Service was great, Tia was very attentive and friendly. Food was disappointing-- pretty bland and expensive if you ask me. Will come again for drinks and atmosphere but will skip dinner here in the future.

Stayed at Bradley. Decided on their bar option on the rooftop. Bad decision. Food was really marginal. Brussel sprouts were too greasy. Flavor was good. Serving size was generous and probably too much for one person. Deviled eggs were just ok. These are meant to be shareable. Maybe a 1/2 portion for one person would be a good idea. Shrimp Caesar salad with shrimp came with a dirty shrimp and dressing was too bland.

Very cute and trendy restaurant. As others reviewers have said, it's located on the roof of The Bradley Hotel. They have a pretty small menu and I was with 3 others who can be somewhat picky but they were in charge of deciding so I rolled with it. We made a reservation but it wasn't very busy. We had to wait about 5 minutes to be seated even though we have the reservation and they weren't busy and seemed well staffed for the situation. Our waitress took our order quickly and we got a few drinks. The mixed drinks were ok but a little too different than our usual taste. We got the Brussels sprouts and Mac and cheese bites for an apand they were incredible. Both very good flavor and the dip for the Mac and cheese bites was a perfect pair. My chicken tacos were awesome. My husband's fish tacos were fine but he said he'd get chicken next time after trying mine. The skirt steak was fine as well but wouldn't be my first pick. I'd love to go back to enjoy the outside part of the rooftop or when they have it open. Good place to venture into if you want something a little different!

I have been wanting to try this place out. I am originally from Fort Wayne and come back for a visit every summer. The rooftop is beautifully designed with great views of downtown. As we had dinner reservations at Paula's, we opted for a few appetizers and drinks at Birdies. All were really good! I did really like all that we got, including the drinks. It did take a while to get drinks but all in all a great experience and got to catch up with friends!

We had a really great experience at Birdie's last weekend! Birdie's is located on the top floor of The Bradley hotel. There seems to be no dedicated parking, so we recommend parking on the street and entering the main lobby of hotel. Concierge will point you to the elevators. We ordered the Brussels sprouts, cheeseburger sliders, mac n cini bites, and fried chicken sandwich! Our favorites were the brussels and the sliders by far. I didn't take a picture of the sliders, but they were so good. I ordered this as my entree! Both the sliders and the fried chicken sandwich came with what seemed to be, to us anyways, plain Lays potato chips which we thought was weird/brought the dishes down a level. We did ask for a side of the fries (they have them for $8 as an appetizer) and we were sorely disappointed. There was nothing special about them at all, so I'm not sure why they have those as an appetizer, save for the garlic aioli which was delicious. We made a reservation ahead of time on a weeknight. Our server was Zach, and he was so friendly/gave great recommendations.

The atmosphere at Birdie's is top tier. However, the food is very average for the cost. We got an order of the fries to share and all enjoyed them. We got the chicken, but it was a chicken thigh and somewhat tough. The curry was a little bland. The pork sliders were good, but somewhat small quantity. The salmon cakes were good, but pretty fishy tasting. I've also had the ahi tuna here before and it is good, but prepare for a large quantity of tuna. We've also gotten the burger before and it is a good option if you're struggling to make a selection. I would love to see them bring back the tacos and deviled eggs. Service was a little slow, but once we ordered we got our food quickly. Staff was very friendly! The hostess even came and checked on us at one point which was sweet

    Ask the Community - Birdie’s

Can you smoke on the rooftop? Cigars?

I'm not sure, but when we were there nobody was.

    Is this place kid friendly?

It could be. The outside seating is not in the bar. The menu isn't made for kids. I don't think they have a kids menu that I can recall.

Spoke + Ivy (west Main Street, FW) - another locally unique dinning experience that deserves a try…read more Spoke + Ivy is located on west Main Street - across the parking lot from Redwood Inn restaurant, if that helps. This restaurant is set in an old building that used to house a pharmacy. It retains the character of the building via the hardwood interiors, tall ceilings, large window views of the street and concrete/industrial ceilings. The interior is nicely decorated with inviting green, brown wood and black accent colors. Table settings were very attractive as well. You can park in the small side lot or on the street. Reservations are easily made on line. The team is very friendly and welcoming. All set the stage for a fun and relaxing dinner experience. Spoke + Ivy has a very small food and specialty cocktail menu. This is the second time we have been here. Each time we found the food to be delicious and the cocktails are uniquely designed. Here is a run down on the food items we ordered: -Focaccia Bread: a mildly sweet, dense/firm bread, slightly airy with a touch of herbs to accent. It is cut into blocks so it is easier to share. The vodka sauce is thin in consistency with a smooth Italian seasoned tomato appeal. Both make for a deliciously simple starter. -Lobster Roll Rangoon: decided to give this a try. It comes out as one large Rangoon - not individual pieces. This means that you must awkwardly cut this shareable into pieces. The slightly crispy & oily wrapper is similar to most crab Rangoon pieces. It has a nice crisp. The inside has shredded pieces of lobster. It was not filled with creme cheese sauce like traditional rangoons - just plain. The green lemon parsley sauce was simply outstanding! It's very fresh, moderately thick and has a slightly tart taste. This added "the sauce" to what the inside of the Rangoon was lacking. -Milanese: nicely breaded chicken that was very moist. The breading is slightly sweet. The fresh bed of arugula salad is a nice add -Prime Rib Pho: this sounded really interesting. It's a smaller/healthier dish. The medium rare prime rib was sliced thin and tender. There wasn't many pieces of prime rib in this dish. The add-ins were fresh and much like you would expect from a Pho dish - just not as much volume. The broth has a chili oil base that gives it a spicier flavor. Overall we really enjoy this relaxed atmosphere and character of the building. The delicious food and cocktails are excellent.

We were seated in a very awkward corner table for two where the tables were really close together. Since it was our Valentine's celebration, I would have been uncomfortable with the tables next to us having people at them because it didn't give you any privacy or space for private conversation. We did not get drinks or appetizers. Our meals were very good (salmon and chicken). The server was good but didn't refill my water and that' a big deal to me. Also, it's supposed to be an upscale place and they were out of paper towels in the bathroom. I feel like that is just basic service they should check on regularly.
