Love the farm to table experience. The menu is always changing and has interesting combination/flavors. The skewers were very good, personally enjoyed the steak ones more than chicken. Fried carrot pakora was delicious! Highly recommend trying. The radish dish was ok, has a strange aftertaste but the fried capers were good. The pastas were both flavorful with homemade noodles. We went during happy hour, which is a great deal. A bit expensive if you don't go during happy hour. The beet spice cake was warm, flavorful and the syrup on top you could drink! Our server was very friendly and accommodating. Can get quite cold in there as the main doors opens directly into the space. Love the idea of the community table too. read more

Everything about my dinner at Rune was amazing. Every little thing. This is officially my favorite restaurant in Fort Wayne. I guess I'll skip to the end when I got my check, and was completely shocked to learn that I had a fantastic meal and an excellently made spritz, plus dessert, for a shockingly low price. I even double-checked the check, to make sure they didn't accidentally leave something off. No! How could it be? It turns out that I was visiting Rune during happy hour, which is Tuesday through Saturday from 5 to 6 p.m. This could be why my bill was so agreeable. So, if you're looking for a great meal for a great price, visit during happy hour. So, the spritz. Literally every table ordered the spritz while I was there, including me. It was a great choice, and it looked especially pretty and ombre in a glass with ice. Like any good spritz, it had just enough alcohol to make things sparkle a little, but was also refreshing and hydrating. I made a note in my phone to remember that the bartender used words like "vegetal" and "herbaceous" when talking about some of the cocktails to the people sitting at the bar. I love a good vegetal, herbaceous drink, and it made me want to order another cocktail. Instead, I ordered the green spaghetti from the happy hour menu, which is a paired down menu, but has a lot of the items from the regular menu. The spaghetti was bright green from a pesto made from ramps, nori butter and parmesan, and there were also bits of clams throughout. It was rich and buttery! Ramps are one of those things that I have to get when I see them on a menu during the spring. They're only around for a short time, so they're precious. For dessert, I went with the pot de creme, which was flavored with pho spices (cinnamon, anise, coriander, cardamom, fennel, etc.) and had peanuts and chocolate on the bottom. Holy fudgy bottom! This was the smoothest, most balanced dessert I've eaten in a long time. Smooth, but with the occasional peanut here and there to make things interesting. The service was excellent. I was dining by myself, so I got seated at a cozy little table, lit with a candle, that was off to the side but also in the center of everything, so I could people watch, which is one of my favorite things to do. I wanted for nothing the entire time, but was also left the eff alone. It was perfect. It was one of the best dining experiences I've had that I can remember. read more

Might arguably be FW's best restaurant... First time at Rune and it was phenomenal... Totally lived up to the hype. Cool, niche place, great service, and outrageous food (all farm to table) - We were blown away by the quality of the cuisine. The only drawback and it's more about us just being nit-picky was the two-person tables are right next to one another, so you're basically dining with your neighbors. Even before I visited for dinner, I inadvertently drove by the restaurant earlier in the day and without even knowing what it was, thought to myself "Wow, that looks like a really cool building!" If had been warm enough, I would have loved to sit on the patio, but the interior is intimate with a great vibe as well. The whole place just feels storied and special with brick walls and tin ceiling. I was dining solo, and got there in time to enjoy a few happy hour specials. I really loved the short rib goat cheese agnolotti, and the celery root rarebit was so unusual and unlike anything I'd tasted before. In a good way! Washed down with a glass of red wine, I was perfectly happy with the not-too-big portion sizes. My only small complaint, several items I was interested in were 86'ed --- the beef skewers, cheesy bread and chocolate mousse. The servers made me feel very comfortable and at ease. read more

This was our second visit. Dining on a cold, snowy Thursday evening at Rune was exceptional! The four of us were warmly welcomed, and seated promptly. The dining area is casually appointed, yet very inviting. Our servers were efficient, knowledgeable of the menu, friendly yet not at all intrusive, and checked back with us re: our satisfaction or needs throughout the meal. Our food was outstanding! Started the evening sharing the kimchi fritters. Very crispy, tasty exterior with an almost creamy filling. The citrus agave dipping sauce was the perfect accompaniment. The four of us each tried, and shared with each other a bite of, four different entrees (each pictured below) : the short rib agnolotti; the pork collar with leeks, fennel, and mustard vinaigrette; the very unique lion's mane mushroom with rutabaga puree, spinach, and poached egg; and the rigatoni with butternut squash, bleu cheese, and sage. Each couple shared a piece of beet cake dessert (not pictured), with a warm almost caramel-like sauce and it was one of the best desserts ever! Not too sweet. Very moist. Very delicious! Good atmosphere, friendly staff, unique food options, and the pricing was similar to the competition. This was our 1st time to Rune to celebrate our Anniversary. We arrived at 5pm for the Happy Hour specials. We really enjoyed our starter which was the Chicken Skewers which were only $2 each during Happy Hour. I could have had 10 of these as my main course, but they were a little too spicy for my wife. We ordered a pasta to share and it was perfectly cooked with just a little firmness and very light, but meaty sauce. We finished the dinner off with the Ribeye which was cooked Medium with a very nice sauce as well. My wife tried the Montana, and the Pansy cocktails and preferred the Montana, I stuck with the $2 beers. Jayma, our server was covering the entire restaurant which was about 12 tables but all the staff pitched in to clear, deliver, and serve every table efficiently. I accidentally scheduled our reservation for the next day, no problem, they got us right in. A nice little wine list, mocktails available as well. Love that. I love the menu, it's smaller, but still very easy to choose from. It's as easy as this, small, medium and larger plates. It's made to share. It's perfect if you ask me. The chicken wings, no joke, chefs kiss! They were crispy and fell off the bone. Better yet, they were packed full of flavor! Seriously, some crazy ass reviews about Rune. We went to Rune tonight for dinner. And some of these reviews do not do Rune Justice. Absolutely amazing! First the cocktails. I started with the Rocky Hollow, it was like the best black raspberry margarita (minus the salt)! Then the Bicentennial Woods, omg the best whiskey cocktail drink I've had, by far. It was like frolicking in the woods all in my mouth, so good! So glad the waitress recommended to try it. Then the food! we started out with appetizers of the chicken wings and spicy cucumbers. The wings were a perfect balance of crunchy, savory, and sweet. And the cucumbers were so fresh, spicy, and delicious. My partner ordered the pork belly with vegetables and I ordered the creamy lemony rigatoni with mushrooms and bacon (to die for). I'm not a big mushroom guy but this put mushrooms on a whole other level! This is by far my new favorite, and can't wait for our next visit!! read more

Came here after the news featured them saying the owner had worked at the oyster bar and Jospeh Decius. I would say his portion sizes were on par with Jospeh Decius. We came in for breakfast. When you order a breakfast plate you get zero sides. Like only an omelet, only a biscuit and gravy, only a breakfast sandwich. So when you see your plate you're going to think, "is this it?" They are not making up for the lack of sides with a huge main entree either. You would get a bigger omelet at Bob Evan. The flavors were not bad but a bit strange. The flavors compare with junk ditch breakfast. We need to go back for dinner and make our final decision about the place. Tolon has a much better brunch. read more

We went on Mother's Day based on the online menu. When we arrived, they had a brunch menu and every dish included eggs, not my wife's favorite. She decided to order the biscuit sandwich, biscuit, scrambled egg, cheese, bacon and rhubarb jam. It was served on a white dinner plate and it was just the biscuit sandwich. It looked bland, dull and kind of lost on the plate. There was no color really. My wife thought it tasted fine, but a little more attention to presentation could make it look so much more appetizing. I had a marinated flank steak with roasted asparagus, two sunny side eggs and a sauce. It was delicious. The asparagus was roasted just right, the flank steak tender and flavorful finished to a medium to medium rare and the eggs were cooked to be just runny enough that they were not dry but not messy either. Portion size seemed small for the $30+ price of this entree. The asparagus did offer a little color, but again, there was no at temp at proper plating to enhance the appearance of the dish. We had heard good things about the carrot tea cake with butterscotch and decided to split an order for dessert. The cake came looking like a dark brown brick sitting on a white plate. The butterscotch sauce was only on the top of the cake and kind of got lost in the brown on brown color scheme. There was some flake salt on top which was a nice touch against the sweet butterscotch. The cake was served warm and it was quite good, but that goodness was lost amid the drab and boring presentation. Service was good. Noise level was not too bad. The atmosphere is sparse, brick walls with no adornment. I think Rune has potential, but they need to pay more attention to the aesthetics of the dining experience which either detract or enhance a sense of enjoyment and value.i read more
