Everything great, except the DISHONEST DESSERT LISTING My brother and I had a lovely dinner here last week He had a burger and I had the artichoke chicken. Everything was cooked perfectly, tasted delicious, and was plated attractively (simple, no fuss). The dining room is cozy and attractive, and the servers are well-informed, efficient and friendly. This is a great place for dinner, and I highly recommend Cook'd. The reason for only 4 stars: A very weird situation. The menu says that Tiramisu is a dessert option. We both ordered Tiramisu, and were served a bowl of vanilla pudding, poured over crispy baked ladyfingers, with whipped cream on top. Obviously, this is not Tiramisu, which is layers of soft ladyfingers first soaked in brandy/coffee, then layered alternately with mascarpone cheese, with whipped cream on top, and then sprinkled with chocolate shavings. The pudding didn't even have hints of coffee, brandy, or chocolate. It was seasoned with cinnamon and nutmeg. When we mentioned to our server, that we were served the wrong dessert, she informed us that this IS what the chef calls Tiramisu. Well, I can serve you a pear and a pretzel, and call it "Apple Pie", but it's not apple pie. I can serve you a cup of warm milk and a hardboiled egg, and call it "Ice cream", but it isn't ice cream. I can give you *hit on a shingle and tell you it's "steak", but that doesn't make it a steak. I do not understand the mind of a "chef" who would serve a random school cafeteria dessert, and call it something else that actually requires skill and patience, not to mention traditional ingredients. Ironically, I LOVE classic cafeteria vanilla pudding with whipped cream. Throw in a 'Nilla Wafer or two, and I'm in heaven. If the chef had put "Vanilla Pudding with cookies & cream" on the menu, I would have ordered it! Went to Cook'd last night with sister and brother-in-law. I don't typically post negative reviews , but this was worthy of allowing readers to make a decision . I did wait until the next morning to write my review. So I wasn't all emotional , angry and disappointed when I began writing . First, let me say what was good. The Zughetti ( zucchini spirals) with "gravy" (marinara sauce) was good. Tasted fresh , zucchini was crisp. My sister asked if I would order again. I would , if I would ever return here ! On to why I won't ... Asked for a taste of wine to sample. The glass came with lip prints on it! And spots ( those were minor but added to the event !) . I couldn't get past the lip prints and didn't even try the wine ! My sister then looked at her wine glass. Guess what ? Yep , lip prints.... So I looked over the specialty drink list. I've never had an Old Fashioned cocktail and after reading the menu description and how the cocktail had Luxardo cherries , I decided at 64 years old it was time to try one. And I'm with my sister , so we will toast our Mom !! The cocktail came. I took a look . I know what Luxardo cherries look like. That sure looked like a maraschino in my glass. I know what Luxardo cherries taste like. I fished the cherry out and popped it in my mouth. It was definitely not a Luxardo cherry. Straight up maraschino from Smart and Final. I think it was a fine cocktail for $12.50. EXCEPT for the misrepresentation of the cherry. That was a deal breaker .... I've eaten a lot of calamari in my life. Panko, tempura , bread crumbs all as coating. But I absolutely have no idea what was coating this calamari. It was so thick you couldn't even tell if there was calamari inside ! And it was Waaayyy overcooked , it was dark brown, not golden colored. Breading , overcooked or bad oil? Maybe all three. . The Calamari came in a bowl like you would get oatmeal in. Absolutely no presentation. Don't cooks realize the visual of food is part of the entire experience? No lemon , did come with some marinara sauce and unknown white sauce. WAs the calamari good ? I have no idea because of all the breading and that it was "bowled " all on top of each other making the horrible breading soggy. Bruschetta is probably one of the simplest dish to make. It's all in the ingredients ! If you can't get flavorful tomatoes , DON'T SERVE IT! Tomatoes were diced, not even close to red in color and had no taste. And in September in northern Nevada you can still get good tomatoes. Garlic, I couldn't taste any. Basil , maybe dried . Bread was good , thank goodness . On a service note , when the appetizers were served I asked the server if we could get serving spoons. She hesitated , and I said " oh should I use my fork?" In this day and age , many people do not want to put there fingers into a communal bowl of food !! Once I put my fork into my mouth I certainly can't use it again on the communal plate or oatmeal bowl.., and the server never did bring any spoons to serve the appetizers. Sisters chicken breast sandwich had to be sent back because of onions. Server acknowledged, "I have no onions on the order". When sandwich came back the chicken breast was about the size of 1/2 of bun . Brother in law had the chicken Parmesan. Same terrible breading and cook on the chicken breast. Come on , in this time of "chicken wars" - take lessons from chikfilet, Popeyes, even KFC and figure out how to cook a chicken breast. BIL said the chicken was dried out. This restaurant is in a smaller town with few nice meal options. I'd like this place to be successful. But you've got to have the food spot on. Too many missteps on this visit. read more

It's average. My first experience was a Saturday evening. The waitress up sold a topping for the ribeye... Came out so good, the flavor was amazing. Wanted medium rare but got rare but it was still good. Service was great also. Liked it so much brought my husband to celebrate our wedding anniversary (42nd) and ordered that rib eye again. Came back medium with no toppings (forgot) but nice if the waitress told me about the toppings. She did not. The Shrimp scampi pasta dish was $24 and came with 5 small shrimp. My company said the flavor was really good, and the fries were cooked to perfection. The alfredo was also good. It's a very rich sauce. I had just a few bites and it filled me up. I also had to have my dish replaced because the first one was really cold. The chicken seemed like it just left the refrigerator. The 2nd dish was hot and better. Pricing- a bit expensive. It was $63 for 3 people with 2 appetizers. Each of the burgers was $14 and the alfredo was $16. I am so bummed this place had such poor performance. And on my birthday. Had to send my meal back after one hour wait and one of our littles never even got their meal. Hostess did not even know they had high chairs. Ordered Picatta based on that and had to send it back, sat on warmers so long the pasta was 2 different colors. Salty chicken as well. Individual pizza was so thin and small I would change its title to flatbread-ish. Service: Good the first 15 min then had to go to the hostess stand 2x to leave and get any kind of attention. Maybe it's because it easy to be seated at and friendly too! I've been here a few times, I wanted to give this place a chance. But the server/ bartender Mario is horrible. I've had him 3 out of 4 times I've been here. First time he was very rude, second time I ordered half a sandwich and soup. I did not like the tomato soup at all, took two bites.
