The second attempt made it to Fort Worth and disappeared. So we decided to take a look at mattresses and stopped into small shop as we we in the shopping center. There were so many different sales on some items I immediately shifted into an on guard mode. The one gentleman working was very patient and knew his items. No hard sell. While there were some interesting things there (all manufacturers say they are the best) I immediately picked up on the fancy tilting frames, snore detectors and even USB ports. Technology proceeds rapidly and having to "update or upgrade" part or all is not in my color wheel. While we didn't purchase at this time, it gave us plenty of ideas. Will we be back? Probably, after looking a bit more places thanks to a nice guy with extreme patience. Now, another King or Queen. :-)

It was listed as a "clearance center" but when we got there they didn't know what that meant. So don't make an extra trip based on that label. It would be easier to go to the largest Mattress Firm in Austin, which is just down the road next to Sam's Warehouse and Best Buy off Mopac. We got a a Simmons Beautyrest and are really enjoying it. It has a 15 year warranty, if you think you'll have it that long, and separate coils so that the bed doesn't bounce when the other person is getting in/out of bed. We did order one of their special Mattress Firm coconut pillows but when the mattress was delivered, there was no pilllow. Now we have to call and complain, which is a pain. Excellent customer service while you're there, and there is not a hard sell thing happening while you're shopping, which is nice. It would be nicer if the sample beds were queen instead of twin so that two people could lie on it first before making such a large purchase. I guess that is too heavy for one sales rep to pull out of the display area. Check out Tarka for lunch on the way out.

I purchased Nucor LVF (Luxury Vinyl Flooring) from Floor and Decor on 12/27/2023 paying $3.99 per sq. ft. It came with a Lifetime Warranty. Within few weeks of installation, the flooring had dents and scratches. My contractor filed the complaint with Floor and decor in March 2024. The company was supposed to send a rep out, but no one came. After waiting over a month for a rep, I had contractor take out the damaged flooring, re-purchased replacement flooring from Floor and Decor and had it installed since I did not want the floor to be half done. Meanwhile the claim from my contractor was denied. After reflooring was finished the floor started denting again. It is not standing up to the quality mentioned by Floor and Decor. I filed the compensation with Floor and Decor based on product's lifetime warranty but it was denied. I am really unhappy with the floor quality and plan to replace.

Since my master bedroom faces east, I get direct sun in the morning and needed blackout drapes. Also, I wanted some privacy during the day while still allowing natural light in. And lastly, I had used Ethan Allen for my window coverings in my master bedroom in California and wanted to try and match that fabric. I worked with one of the designers, Victoria, and she not only came up with a unique solution, but was able to come very close to the same fabric I had used back in California. I now have remotely controlled blackout drapes that I can open or close while still in bed, along with unique "roll up" Hunter Douglas shades that give me privacy from the homes down below me. I highly recommend this Ethan Allen location.

Then a light bulb went off in my head. This store was one of the ones that was on our list for mirrors. While they had some mirrors, none were the size we are looking for. According to a sales associate, due to the store's heavy foot traffic (Next door to the Apple Domain Northside store), they design window displays to grab the attention of potential shoppers. CB2 sells a selection of sofas, tables, dinnerware and other modern furniture and housewares. The store appears a bit eclectic, which I like. They had some usual shaped vases and unique coffee table sculptures. I purchased 4 water glasses that were on sale as I have broken at least that many over the last few months. We had recently renovated a large outdoor porch and we were looking for new outdoor furniture with a lighter shade of blue cushions than the standard navy blue. It seemed like the vast majority of outdoor furniture was only available in the same standard neutral colors of navy and shades of beige. This was frustrating since we had something else in mind. We also needed the furniture to be comfortable, durable, and not so low to the ground that aging knees would complain when you needed to get up. Chair King came to the rescue. Although they had a lot of furniture in the neutral colors, we were also able to find a sofa, loveseat and chairs with pretty blue cushions made to fit our chosen furniture like we wanted. In addition to being durable, the furniture was comfortable and at a good height. The sales people were also excellent. There was no high pressure sales, just knowledgeable people that could answer your questions and lead you in the right direction. Douglas was our salesperson and he was great. He answered all our questions and explained the delivery service and fee. To have all the furniture delivered it was a flat fee of $199. This included, taking everything to the back porch, placing each piece of furniture where we directed, and unpacking all the cushions. This allowed us to check everything before they left to make sure it was in good condition. The delivery people were great. They gave us a heads up of when they would arrive, were courteous and professional. It was one of my best delivery experiences.

While they turned the copies around for me, I sadly did not check them at the counter and they had cut off half the floor plan. Monday, I am in a different city in a meeting with the planning team ad I unroll the floor plan copies and they are cut off! There was plenty of room on the page for the whole plan to be there but the person who copied cut them off. My bad for not unrolling them at the counter and trusting they were done correctly. So, I had the original drawing and was forced to leave that with the team. Upon return to Austin, I took the plans back to the store for credit. The counter person never once apologized for the mistake. She looked up the order - I had my receipt, the work order and my handwritten instructions with me for the return. She said sorry, it is locked, I can't return it. I said, well can you at least give me a gift card? She tried and said I can't give you one it's locked and she turns the computer screen to me to show me, she said I can't credit your card, I can't give you a gift card and I can't give you cash back- I said, "Well, I'm sorry to inconvenience you, but you greatly inconvenienced me at my meeting and I want my money back." She said, I didn't make these copies, I didn't do anything. I'll give you a number you can call. I said, Can I speak to the manager? She said, Rudely, "I am the Manager and I'm the only one on duty". At this point we are at the main counter and she is just staring at me and I said, Well, are you going to give me the number? She said, I'm getting to it. She told me I was rude to her, I asked well tell me how I was rude to you? She said, because you said I did this, I didn't do anything to you. I said, "Wow you sure could use some customer service training," the You I was referring to can mean "Office Depot" and not you personally, don't take it personally! To which she raised her voice made a face at me and rudely said, "I've been working here five years!" An apology would have been nice, you know. I'm going to try the number she gave me. Had to give one star but wouldn't give any if that was an option.
