Ham + cheese croissant

Comunidad quickly became one of my go-to spots for caffeine, culture and community. Having stopped by for the first time soon after they opened a few months ago, I've had the pleasure of watching this quaint east 6 coffee shop grow into a communal hub for local Latinos, coffee aficionados, and curious visitors alike. Owners and power couple Julissa and Andy are building something special here. Their caffeine options are unique and they very obviously use high quality products across their menu. From their Dominican-style Greka, to their amazing lavender matcha (that actually tastes like matcha, not the overly sweet stuff), to their popular papatolo, owner / barista Andy simply does not miss. On the other hand, Comunidad boasts an extensive cold pressed juice menu that easily rivals your (soon to be ex) favorite juice shop. So far, I've tried the Beeted, Good Girl, Equinox and Paradise... it's impossible to choose a favorite! Julissa, owner and holistic juice Queen, very clearly takes pride in offering these fresh, healthy and DELICIOUS options to the neighborhood. I can't wait to try the acai bowl. Comunidad also serves pastries from local bakery Quacks (we love to see small biz support small biz!), carries some cool swag (need a hat asap) and always plays jams - from old school r&b to bachata classics. There's also ample street parking in the area during their business hours. Needless to say, vibes are 100/10. It's no surprise that Comunidad has quickly amassed a base of regulars who want to tell everyone they know about their new favorite coffee shop. And now I'm telling you: run, don't walk, over to Comunidad! You may find your new favorite cup of coffee, or maybe even be challenged to a game of dominos!

I got this recommended by Google Maps while on my way to work. It's located on East 6th street, one of my familiar haunts. The family moved from NYC and is originally from the Dominican Republic! We talked about how I was just there for New Year's. I got the hot Papatolo which is a Dominican local drink. I thought it was great & warmed me up on a weekday morning. Parking wasn't an issue for me, I just parked across the street. I can see it becoming harder as both curbs fill up throughout the day, though.

Stopped in Saturday morning and was the only one there. Talk about an exclusive experience! The gentlemen working were fairly quite and didn't provide much insight or assistance to the new venue. Menu is compact and has several coffee and juice options. Food seems to be times in the pastry case near the register. Ordering was easy and tap to pay. The vibe was chill and the music filled the space. The decor was very nice and the chairs comfy. I got the latte, hot and it was hot! Cups didn't have sleeves so a few napkins helped to temper that as I got the latte to go. I'd go back to try another coffee and see how the vibe is with more peeps in the space.

So delicious and made with care! Quiet and tasteful interior. I spent a week in downtown Austin and was disappointed I only discovered this spot on the last day.

Maple iced latte!

Cute and cozy space! Note, only a few tables. Everyone was very sweet and friendly. Quick service and amazing latte! Recommend getting the maple syrup with your latte. Parking may be difficult since it's street parking. Sad I didn't get to try the pastries since they were sold out, but will be back to try more! Highly recommend visiting.

There were very limited fresh selections available, and many items were still being baked during opening hours. In my opinion, a bakery should open with the shelves fully stocked and ready for customers, especially those of us stopping in early. The prices are reasonable, ranging from about $2.50-$4.00 for both sweet and savory pastries, but price doesn't make up for the lack of availability. I expected to have more options to choose from instead of empty or partially filled displays. For consistency in early morning breakfast items, I could have easily gone to Krispy Kreme, where you know exactly what you're getting when the doors open. That said, 85°C is convenient and their mango smoothies are great. Overall, it's a decent spot, but I wouldn't recommend going first thing in the morning if you're expecting a full pastry selection.

My sister & I bought milk toast, a berry tart, hokkaido custard bun, matcha red bean bun, jalapeño cream cheese, milk tea, & a chocolate bun before going over to the Tesco mart to have some shopping fun. Everything was good & if I did have one near me I'd be 100lbs bigger from binging my favorite Japanese style pastries all the time. The selection here is unmatched.
