Sour Cream Coffee Cake
Lloyd L.

Coffees are delicious when you want to splurge on the extra sugar. Most of the coffees are very sweet in nature but oh so flavorful! I added two additional shots to try to balance the strength I like with the sweetness they provide and it did the trick! The baked goods were amazing as well I got a cinnamon bun and sour cream bunt cake slice. Everything was amazing and the staff was very friendly! The ambiance is giving early 90's RnB cafe which I LOVED! And they even have an old school arcade game near the back! Over all the vibes are mellow and nostalgic!

Pleasantly surprised when I stepped inside! I always drove by but didn't know this place was a full coffee shop. Expansive menu and plenty of seating with a modern ambience. Tried the schoolhouse coffee cake it was divine tasted like warm butter in every bite but not too sweet.

This was a 5 star experience. Since I moved to LA I've been looking for a good coffee cake and I've finally found it. This was my first time visiting Coffee Cakes and it didn't disappoint. The staff were friendly and very inviting and I loved how patient they were with us. And the vibe inside the cafe is very welcoming. The artwork is very east coast/west coast hip hop with a touch of R&B. I ordered the banana coffee cake, it was so good! The banana didn't overpower the coffee cake, and the coffee cake as a whole was moist. This place is a must try and I can't wait to get back.

Got them in the nick of time right before it closed at 1p on Sunday. Always wanted to try this place out and missed out on events they throw with DJs. Anyway, got a few of their drinks. Banana nana, coffee cake, and biscoff cookie lattes. Missed out on their baked goods, but that'll be another visit. Service was good, drinks not super sweet, music on point, and digging the vibe with the decor. I'll swing by again for sweet munchies.

I first heard about Coffee Cakes on TikTok, so of course I had to check it out for myself--and I'm glad I did! From the moment I walked in, I loved the vibe. The upbeat music, welcoming atmosphere, and great customer service made for a wonderful first impression. They offer an assortment of unique coffee flavors that go beyond the usual menu, which was a nice change from the typical coffee chain. And let's talk about the coffee cakes--they not only looked amazing but tasted absolutely divine! One thing I also appreciated was the comfortable seating and the amazing artwork. Whether you're catching up with friends, having a casual meeting, or just enjoying a quiet cup of coffee, there are plenty of places to sit, relax, and chat while enjoying your drink and a sweet treat. Like most specialty coffee shops, the prices are a little higher than making coffee at home, but honestly, they're not much different from the larger coffee franchises. If you're looking to support a local coffee shop and want to try something different from the usual chain cafés, I definitely recommend Coffee Cakes. It's a great place for delicious coffee, amazing pastries, good conversation, and a relaxing atmosphere. I don't think you'll be disappointed!

I'm so happy that I gave Coffee Cakes a shot! After seeing their mouthwatering coffee cakes online, I decided to pay this place a visit, and every aspect of my experience was great. The coffee shop is aesthetically pleasing and has a chill, welcoming vibe. The gentleman who helped me that day was incredibly informative and friendly. He recommended the banana coffee cake, and it did not disappoint! I also tried their Coffee Cake Latte. Since I didn't want caramel syrup, he suggested substituting it with white chocolate syrup, which paired wonderfully with the latte. The coffee cake itself was mouthwatering and absolutely delicious! I loved how moist the cake was, and it had the perfect amount of sweetness for me. I'd definitely come back to try more of their coffee cake flavors. Overall, I highly recommend Coffee Cakes to anyone looking for a new coffee shop to check out!

First of all the AC was working great, this is important to note because it has been hot and humid recently. The vibes in here are great. We went with the buttermilk and original coffee cake. Personally, Id skip the buttermilk and just go for the original it's not bad just not what I expected. I had the caramel Apple macchiato and it was just amazing, a must try for sure everything about it was so well thought out. Our cakes came out warmed and our drinks were ready quick. We will definitely be back!

Coffee Cakes is one of those hole-in-the-wall coffee shops I'd driven past countless times without stopping. After seeing their Cookie Butter Latte online, I finally decided to check it out, and I'm glad I did. Parking was easy, there wasn't much of a line, and the shop itself has a really fun, modern aesthetic. The atmosphere is inviting and has a lot of personality. Service was quick, and ordering was straightforward. Since it was my first visit, I appreciated that they clearly highlight their best-selling drinks, which makes choosing something easy. That said, I do think there's an opportunity to elevate the experience even more. With such a unique brand and vibe, I'd love to see the team engage a little more by offering recommendations or talking through their favorites. Matching the energy of the space with more personalized service would make the experience even more memorable. I went with the Cookie Butter Latte (of course, since that caught my eye!), and while it was good, it leaned a little too milky for my taste. The cookie butter flavor itself was delicious and not overly sweet, but I would've loved a stronger coffee flavor to balance it out. Overall, it's a great spot with a cool atmosphere, efficient service, and plenty of drinks I'd still like to try. I'd definitely come back to explore more of the menu.

Good caffeinated, sugary vibes Coffee Cakes is a recent addition to this plaza, which I used to frequent when there was a DVD Rental shop (remember those?) located there. I was in the mood for a cafe latte, so stopped by post-lunch. Biscoff Crumble Cookie Latte - One of Coffee Cakes' most popular items, and I can verify as to why. Silky smooth, decadently sweet, the Biscoff Crumble Cookie Latte hit the spot after a heavy meal. The cookie crumbles provided texture, and each sip was silky refreshment. Service was good. The young woman behind the counter was friendly, and quick to offer recommendations. A fair amount of indoor seating, the atmosphere has an Old School R & B and Rap motif, with many murals of iconic figures. Parking is via a shared private lot, with Coffee Cakes adjacent to Boot Barn. Coffee Cakes is an excellent new cafe in the area, incorporating quality ingredients, fresh takes & a cool setting. I look forward to coming back, trying out a new drink and perhaps one of their enticing pastries they have to offer. Highly recommend!

Schoolhouse Classic & Cinnamon Bun Cakes and Flat White

This is a great little coffee shop / bakery! The shop has a cool vibe, at first we were saying it is like being in the club but that's not right. It's more like being in the VIP room at the club where everybody is chill and you can relax and have a good time :) We both ordered Flat Whites which were good and the perfect drinking temp. Not burning hot like some shops make. Don't get me wrong they were nice and hot just not "well I gotta wait 20 minutes to drink this" hot. LOL But for me the star is the cakes!! I LOVE good coffee cakes and these were as good as it gets! Nice big slices that are fresh and moist. I had the Schoolhouse Classic (which is the LAUSD Coffee Cake... if you know you know!) and it was delicious!!! My Son had the Cinnamon Bun Cake that was also great. Since everything was so good I got a slice of Buttermilk cake to take home :) Everyone was friendly and the shop is super clean, no crumbs on the table here. Coffee Cakes is in a strip mall so there was plenty of parking. Can't wait to come back and try more cakes :)

Needed a pick-me-up with extra ether! Oh, and their coffee cakes are so good!

If you like specialty coffee drinks this is your place. They have some many flavor options along with bake goods. The drinks are on the sweeter side . The space is warm and they play great music . Check them out

They have two ordering kiosks, which I love because you can take your time, look at the menu with pictures, and not feel rushed. The workers are always nice and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. My absolute favorite is the Twin snow mountains. I'm obsessed with the vanilla frost -- it's like chewing ice that's perfectly flavored with vanilla. The vanilla and matcha ice cream blend together really well, and pairing that with the grass jelly and strawberries is chef's kiss. My only tiny wish is that the strawberries were cut into smaller pieces so I could get one in every bite, but honestly I'll gladly do it myself. I come here all the time just for this dessert. It's my go-to and never disappoints.

Parking: They're located in a high foot traffic plaza, so finding a parking spot can be difficult. Ambiance/Environment: They have a small space with a decent amount of indoor seating. The tables and seats were kept clean. There's cute decor from the ceiling as well. This is the type of spot where you'd bring your family with younger kids for something sweet, while the adults sit and talk. When we visited, my family and one other family pretty much took up all the tables lol. Service: There was only one worker behind the counter serving and making the drinks and desserts. She doesn't acknowledge anyone. It wasn't too busy, but throughput took a while since she was by herself. There's two kiosk to order from. You don't really interact with the worker until she brings out your order. Desserts & drinks: We ordered a mixture of almost everything. We noticed there were a few menu items that were out of stock. I ordered a mango pamelo sago, my sister ordered a brown sugar boba milk tea, my cousin ordered an americano, and my other cousin ordered a strawberry & cream eggette. I thought the mango pamelo sago was okay; the mango flavor was lacking except for the actual mangos. There was plenty of sago, but I thought this dessert was underwhelming. My sister thought the boba was okay bc it had an interesting texture, and the drink itself was lightly sweet than what she's used to. My cousin thought the coffee was okay. The only thing we all enjoyed was the eggette. It's a bubble waffle with ice cream and fresh fruits, which is pretty difficult to mess up. Pricing: Prices are pretty high for the portions offered. Overall, the desserts were underwhelming and some didn't meet our expectations. The eggettes are most likely the only thing we'll come back for.

Most recently we visited on 10/2 for the debut of their new salt bread line and matcha line! Got to try 5 new flavors of salt bread and boy were they yummy. It was just me and my husband so we were tempted to buy more but we could only eat so much bread in a day ahhahaa We got the double matcha strawberry and it was refreshing. You could tell they use fresh strawberries to make their puree and it was the perfect balance with their matcha- finished it so fast should've gotten 2 Came back on 10/4 (2 days later) bc I couldn't stop thinking about the salt bread and wanted to try more flavors... my husband was like again??
