Adoreee this spot. Coat check has so much space and a great layout. Historical feels, and great windows, a very esthetic spot to look out at. Docking one star, affordability wise be ready to drop 10 dollars on a latte, and 15 on a sandwhich... doesn't mean I didn't love every sip and bite! read more

Coat Check Coffee - interior - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Indianapolis, Indiana

I review coffee shops all around the USA, while the coffee and Matcha here are delicious, they are $8 for arguably the smallest cup they could possible give you. It's gotta be a 10 oz cup, if it's 12, it's half ice. The atmosphere is comfortable, and people are enjoying it. There is a few pastries and cookies, but it's insanely expensive, very tasty and easy to get sad after 5 sips and it's gone. I will not return read more

Coat Check Coffee - Smallest Large iced latte ever - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Indianapolis, Indiana

The place is in a gorgeous old building with a theater on the second floor. Take a walk in to look at the art exhibitions they are amazing! The sea salt chocolate chip cookie was delicious, wonderful and gooey. I recommend the latte if you like a lot of creamer, because they only have whole milk creamer. No other creamers like 1/2&1/2, oatmilk, etc. The service was fast and efficient. read more

Looking to fill my tank and this place is near. It is a theater coat check coffee shop, old, dark, mysterious. Very quiet with a few people on their laptops. I ordered an oat milk latte it looked beautiful, tasted amazing! read more

I like how simple this place feels. Nothing too busy, no pressure to leave. Just ordered a regular coffee and sat for a while. It's a good spot if you just want a break during the day. read more

I was highly anticipating our visit to Coat Check Coffee after seeing it rated as one of the top coffee shops in the Indy area. Walking in, you're briefly taken aback by the unique layout of the building. Reimagining this old structure into a coffee house is definitely a creative idea. However, the appeal of the aesthetic fades pretty quickly. It runs fairly warm inside, and there's a sense of a dense pall of dust and "oldness" that lingers in the shop. It feels a little unfair to call Coat Check "dirty," but other words escape me. At times, it seems like Coat Check tries just a bit too hard to be different. My wife sipped on an iced chocolate latte that tasted like chocolate milk, which was fun. I rolled the dice on the "Coat Check Cola" -- a concoction of seltzer water, espresso, milk, and orange rind. It was certainly a unique drink that embodied that "trying too hard" atmosphere of Coat Check Coffee. I did enjoy a delicious spiced cake donut. No idea how it was vegan. Vegan things should not taste that heavenly. read more

I walked a mile to try this place and it did not disappoint!! The Lavender Latte with oat milk was fantastic...not too sweet, not too bitter! And so beautiful!! The vegan breakfast sandwich was also really yummy...i got the jalapeno jelly on the side in case it was too spicy, which it was, for me. I traded for the apple butter and dipped biscuit pieces and sandwich in it...so good!! My only complaint is that they don't have vegan sausage gravy currently, which they said is because they're working on a new recipe...i could give them one, it's not that hard;), but i hope they have it back in the menu soon!! read more

We have stopped here now a few times, usually when driving some long distances and we happen to be driving through Indianapolis. But we usually always make a point of stopping here for that great cafe vibes. The food and drink have always been delicious (though this last time, the golden latte was probably a tad too sweet). We got a panini/sandwich this last time as well which was delicious. Their regular lattes/flat whites are always on point. The place itself is also very interesting. It's located in a historic church and there is a ton of cool stuff to look at and German history and its relationship with the city. The service is always quick and professional. Feel assured that if you stop here, you are getting a great drink and some great historical information as well! read more

In the belly of the Athenaeum, old and grand, Where whispers cling to beams and dust to hand, A door swings wide, and time folds in-- The world steps back, the brew begins. Once a nook for coats and chatter, Now it hums with something subtler, A clink of cup, the hiss of steam, A place where thought and scent convene. The cortado comes--golden-brown grace, Cradled warm in porcelain lace. Bitter boldness, silk and smoke, A drink, a spell, a whispered joke. Croissants flake like aging scrolls, Each layer telling tales of souls Who came and lingered, sat and stayed, Beneath these beams, in light and shade. Outside, the city forgets to wait, Inside, time slows, then meditates. You do not merely sip or chew-- You listen. You remember. You renew. So come, dear wanderer, take your seat. Let warmth rise up through hands and feet. You're not just drinking coffee here-- It's steeped in story and atmosphere. read more

This coffee shop is a cute little hole in the wall. I would never have expected a coffee shop to be apart of ymca. The space is very unique and allows you to study, get work done, a place for interviews or to catch up with your bestie! I absolutely love their Iced Butterscotch Latte. It has a hint of orange with just a unique flavor profile. I was skeptical at first with the orange flavor but it's not overpowering at all it added a sweet touch that balances the flavors well. The Chocolate Latte is an elevated version of a chocolate milk with a shot of espresso for those who don't love coffee as much as you can't taste the coffee at all. This is my go to coffee shop on my way to run errands or in the morning before starting my day! I highly recommend this coffee shop for all my coffee lovers out there! read more

This is probably my favorite place to get coffee. It can get crowded at times, so seating can be a challenge. Sometimes we have to sit on the couches, instead of at a table. The upstairs is great, but it isn't always open. Their coffee is great. Their chocolate latte is amazing, but the drip coffee, espresso, and cappuccinos are all good too. read more

Wow this place is awesome. Cozy inside, friendly baristas. I had the lavender latte, pumpkin donut, and sea salt chocolate chip cookie. The latte was INCREDIBLE, and I get lavender lattes all the time and this was one of the best I've ever had. The pumpkin donut was so yummy - pillowy and sugary with lots of real pumpkin in it. The chocolate chip cookie tasted homemade, delicious. I'm glad I ended up here - I originally went into Tinker coffee but they were rude to me and my service dog, so I left and tried Coat Check and wow they turned my day around!!! I will be back as often as I can! read more

Coat Check Coffee - Breakfast Biscuit Sandwich - Bacon - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Indianapolis, Indiana

Liked the coffee and breakfast biscuit I tried from here. Lots of seating in a pretty cool location.

If you love coffee and you love history, then Coat Check Coffee will become one of your favorite coffee shops. This adorable shop is located near Mass ave in the historical Anthenaeum building. The historical architecture of the building is amazing. They even have a special hallway that tells the story of German's who settled in Indianapolis and made some very important contributions to the city. The Latte's were fantastic and the croissant was a special treat to go along with it. I will definitely come back! read more

First time, enjoyed the espresso. Will be back to try new items and I recommend others do too. The space itself is cozy and quaint

What a cool coffee shop located in an old theater! Love the emphasis on locally-sourced, scratch-made drinks and baked goods. We only tried a couple of things but both were delicious. Really wanted to come back for a second visit on our trip but couldn't make it happen. Service is friendly and efficient. Lots of seating! read more

I just visited for the first time recently. There was a great vibe inside with lots of people hanging out, studying, working, reading, etc. I was pleased to see how much space there is to sit inside. The pastries looked delicious, but I only ordered a chai tea latte. I can't remember the last time I had tea in a real cup, so that was super fun! I was disappointed because the tea was cold when I got it. I'm not sure what happened, but it was not pleasant to drink. I didn't notify anyone, but I'm sure they would have fixed it. I would definitely come back and try something else. read more

Cool little coffee shop in the foyer of Athenaeum. Lots of spaces to get work done or just hang out. Coffee was great and the service was excellent. Lacks the ambiance of a place like Chalet (RIP) or Parlor but still a nice spot to stop for a latte. Maybe a side note, but do all of the coffee shops in town have the same menu? I thought the pistachio latte at Chalet was so cool, then I saw it at provider, and it's here at Coat check. What's up with that? read more

We stopped by here for breakfast after walking over from AirBnB. The entrance was quite inviting with a staircase leading up to the cafe. The color palette was this old rustic sort of feeling. The actual cafe was very similar to a coat check area; it was an interesting concept to say the least. It was quite packed when we arrived so we had to wait in line for a few minutes before ordering. I wish there was a QR code or something to access the menu or view before we got to the front of the line. There were a few paper handouts at the front of the line so we were able to quickly glance to figure out what we wanted. We went for a croissant, Pistachio Latte, and a Butterscotch Latte. We had a little difficulty trying to find seating and didn't feel comfortable walking up with lattes up the staircase so we found some seating to the side (benches) where we could sit. We had a chance to read up on the history of breweries in Indianapolis especially around the Prohibition Era that was quite interesting. The croissant and lattes were delicious. After finishing, we took some time to walk up the stairs where we found more seating, a bar area, and art pieces. We walked around there and observed all the different items. I definitely recommend everyone checkout Coat Check if they're in Indy! read more

The biscuit sandwich is crazy good. Homemade biscuit, a fluffy egg and huge! A must get.

Great place to warm up in the cold month - or really any time of year. I love the menu selection and asking the staff for their recommendations as well. It's also a good space to work from or to meet up with friends. read more

Coat Check Coffee This is the only coffee shop I don't feel bad about spending $7 on a latte for because it's JUST THAT GOOD. I love the Butterscotch latte. It's so flavorful but not overwhelming. They make it perfect every time. It makes me feel nice and warm inside. It's the perfect place to grab coffee with friends- if you walk up the stairs there are pretty stained glass windows with seating all around. It's so nice and calm in there read more

I was on vacation in this area and decided to stop by here. It's downtown but plenty of street parking. The building is beautiful outside and it's right on the corner. When you walk in you go up a set of stairs and the place is gorgeous. It's a little dark but nice to work in. As soon as you order you take a seat. There's a lot of seating and very quiet coffee shop. I would say it's not really kid friendly. I ordered a season coffee with orange. It was pretty good and presentation was amazing. Price was average like most coffee shops. Definitely amazing coffee if you're in the area I would recommend coming here. read more

Top tier coffee! Very instagramable and delicious! Baristas are always so friendly and knowledgeable. My coffee always comes out absolutely perfect. I love that it is in such a historic building. I'm gluten free and they do not have any food options for people with those restrictions. However, I have heard that their croissants are amazing! The Ginger Latte is my favorite latte I have ever had anywhere. I have also tried the Pistachio Latte. Which is also great and has a nice, nutty flavor. The only downside about this place is that they request you to keep your time spent seated at 90 minutes. Too bad because it would be such a great study space, but it is good to catch up with friends! read more

I was really excited to try this place considering it has such glorious ratings but I was tad bit disappointed with my visit. Coat Check Coffee is located in the historic Athenaeum on Mass Ave which is a very upscale neighbourhood. This place was pretty crowded and getting seats was quite difficult. Some seating arrangements are kinda weird considering it's right next to Restrooms. I ordered a Pistachio Latte with almond milk which I have to say was very good and unique in its taste. I also ordered a Vegan breakfast sandwich without the impossible sausage as I don't really like impossible meat. My sandwich had Vegan cheese and Just eggs. It also had jalapeño jam which I am not really fond of. What I found a bit odd was that this place offers sandwiches but they don't have any condiments. When asked for ketchup or hot sauce, the barista was kinda rude as if it was a sin to ask for it. We also had a Pumpkin Chai muffin which complemented the Latte. Overall, the location is great, and you should check out local stores on Mass Ave when visiting. I may not visit this place again but will recommend Lattes, can surely skip food! read more

Wonderful addition to a timeless building in town. Great pastries and even better coffee.

I've been meaning to check this place out because my friends have been raving about it! So my friend and I got coffee here at 8 am. I love how unique the interior is. I love how COVID safe they are, as you are required to wear masks when you are ordering. The baristas are also wearing masks. I heard the Ginger Lattes was one of the more popular drinks so that's what I got. I got it hot and my friend got it iced. It was super yummy, considering the fact that I don't really ginger. I also love that the prices include tips for the baristas. read more

2nd visit to Coat Check Coffee after a year and the quality and ambience continue to surpass my expectations. The customer service is on par and the coffee is beyond any variety that I tried in Indiana. We tried Latte with miso, cardamom and a vegan bagel. The jalapeño paste with the impossible vegan patty and egg was a fusion taste explosion for our taste buds.
