Worked up an appetite shopping this afternoon and decided to have lunch here. It wasn't too busy and if my cousin wasn't with me I would've loved to just sit at the bar... For a holiday, the mall wasn't too busy so that was a plus! We were welcomed and seated right away. The music playing wasn't too loud. Perfect vibes for an afternoon lunch with my cousin/niece. Today I went with the salt and pepper shrimp roll and my niece ordered the bacon cheeseburger with extra pickles. She enjoyed her burger and my shrimp was seasoned perfectly. The rolls were a bit undercooked this afternoon, and my Mango Martini was just like I remembered...yummy! Our server was welcoming and attentive. He suggested I try the Mango Mojito. Just may have to take him up on that next time. Until next time...Happy Yelping!
Coastal Flats is a solid spot for a casual meal with friends or family. The atmosphere is bright and modern, with a relaxed coastal vibe that makes it easy to hang out for a while. The menu has a good variety of seafood and coastal-inspired dishes. I ordered the Pecan Crusted Trout that had candied pecans sprinkled on top of the trout. The trout was fresh and well-prepared.
Enjoyed lunch with co-workers on Halloween. This is a family-friendly, casual dining restaurant inside Tyson's Corner Mall. If you enter the parking deck near the Hyatt Hotel with Coastal Flats listed at the entrance, you will have a very short walk! Alternatively, it's downstairs from the movie theatre and food court. We ordered calamari, buffalo chicken dip, and blue crab & shrimp fritters. For mains, we had ribeye steaks and chicken salad. Everything was good, except the calamari was very oily. The restaurant was quiet, clean, and welcoming. Our server was kind, and overall we had a pleasant experience.
I went to Coastal Flats for a solo lunch. I kind of had an idea of what I already wanted to order. I was greeted by one person and gave my order to them but then someone else came over and asked if I wanted anything else. The second waiter started talking about the specials but they were so soft spoken it was hard to hear. If you try any of the great American restaurants and they have Ozzie rolls, get them ! They are delicious. I ordered the fish fingers which came with fries and coleslaw. I am not a fan of coleslaw. I should have asked if they could sub that out for something else. My waitress came by once after I got my food to see how it was. I ended up not finishing my meal because I was full from the delicious Ozzie rolls. However my waitress walked past several times and did not interact with me or ask if I needed anything else. I waited 20 minutes before I had to stop her and ask for my check and a box. Not sure if it's worth coming back based on lack of service.
When we come to Tyson's Corner Center to dine, we go to Seasons 52 which is directly across from Coastal Flats, but decided today to check out Coastal Flats for the first time. We arrived at Coastal Flats for lunch at noon on a weekday. We were greeted by friendly people at the host's stand, and were seated fairly quickly. The vibe and decorating is rather similar to Cheesecake Factory. Service from the food runners was very good. Our server did a reasonably adequate job, but there was one thing curious about him. He dropped off the check on our table without a word, picked up our credit cards without a word and dropped our cards and receipts on the table without a word. No thank you or anything. The best deal on the menu has to be the Community bread assortment that goes for a mere $1. That $1 is donated by the restaurant to helping people obtain housing. The assortment was a nice variety and of a generous quantity. The seasoned soft butter that came with the bread was good. We both ordered the Pecan Crusted Trout. The trout was fresh and good. The portion size was large. I was a little surprised that the pecans were not crumbles of pecan pressed into then trout, but instead, whole candied pecans sprinkled atop the trout. The broccolini that came with the trout was good though some of the thicker pieces were undercooked. I think we'll come back, but we prefer Seasons 52 across the corridor.
I was honestly expecting a little more from this place! The Jambalaya Pasta I had was satisfactory, but I was hoping for a stronger spice from it, especially since this place was a bit expensive for my taste (i will say i am not used to DMV prices at all). Service, however, was fantastic, with waiters going above and beyond to make sure that I was satisfied with my meal and topping off my water. Seldom have I seen waiters be so attentive and courteous. This establishment is quite large, and the lighting is dim, yet perfectly bright enough! This place is versatile (and large), so you could have a large get-together here, as well as a nice quiet date! Great all-occasion establishment.
I've walked past this restaurant for many years. I finally decided to give a try. It's the middle of the afternoon around. I stopped in for lunch and had a Greek salad with salmon very very hungry even though I am not full. It was a wonderful tasty salad not too much dressing. Salmon had wonderful. Tasty glaze. Salmon was prepared perfectly a bit on the expensive side, one of the things I like about this restaurant in this hotel, it is very bright inside. Great to do work. There are a number of people with the laptops open discussing business. I had to make a number of work related calls. Highly recommended because of this new restrooms inside this restaurant they're actually a short walk in the hotel lobby, but they're extremely clean. Parking is in the Mall parking lot which is covered. It's a bit of ways from Parking, but I will be returning. My server was actually the bartender. The bar was located far away from our seating, but he was quite attentive. No other servers were in the restaurant when I arrived.

Coastal Flats = rolls so warm and buttery you almost cry. Service was quiet but efficient--like a ninja who takes your order without judgment. Everyone in our party had very specific food quirks, and they handled it like pros. After a long travel day, I inhaled my warm goat cheese salad like it owed me money. Clean, cozy, and perfect for fast-but-fancy refueling.
First time going there, I believe the menu should be more though there was enough on it. It didn't have enough variety. The food was fresh and hot and the service was well. It was very dark inside the area, which made it hard to see.
Walked in on Father's Day and went to the bar! Service was fantastic and so was the food. If you love SWEET TEA, GET IT! It's so damn good and baby their mango margarita! Oh my lawd! Take a sip of boffum! For me :)

Our 4th time visit-- Disappointed--Food was just OK--service was bad--Reservation was delayed 15 minutes due to a confused hostess--Very busy--waitress was unfriendly--poker face--neglected bread after 2 tables after us received bread--then said bread was cooking--a floor manager brought bread just as she said this--Steak was poor grade quality and too much salt--beef ribs were over cooked, stringy and too much sugar--Recommend buy prime meat and smoked beef ribs need no sugary sauce. Also, unsweet iced tea was cloudy and strange taste soured.
I honestly did not expect outstanding service like this. We had reservations for 5:30 PM and it took longer than usual to get seated for a party of 5 but then again it was Mother's Day... When we walked past other servers and employees we were greeted with soft hospitality, "Welcome! Enjoy your meal.. thank you for coming." I mean I was impressed with this top scale service. The seats and table was glistening they sure do keep the place as clean as possible. I had the crispy fish tacos and they were indeed crispy/ crunchy, paired well with the habanero slaw. No complaints, overall it was a delightful experience.

Came here on a Friday night. We were seated fast and waiters were also quick with menus and taking our order. Nothing to complain about. We were also in a rush and the service and timing of the dishes, bill, and everything in between was perfect. Lobster bisque was too creamy for me. The red snapper was the dish of the week for $34 bit overly priced was delicious. The risotto sauce was good but too salty. The $1 bread not pictured is freshly fried to order. It's almost like a donut wouldn't even call it bread. Parking is in the lot for the mall for free. Coastal flats is right by the entrance with a big sign. Overall a nice dinner. read more

Visited this restaurant many times prior to Covid. Loved the food here: mostly the Ribeye. But not tonight. It was my birthday on the 15th so i was treating myself to a steak. I ordered medium. It was pink in the center but the rest of the entire steak was very tough and overdone. It didn't even taste like a ribeye. I was truly disappointed. This was my go-to meal for years while working in Tysons. And now I wished I had chosen another restaurant . read more
An afternoon out with friends was made even more enjoyable by the food and service at Costal Flats. I started my meal with the deviled eggs and enjoyed a basket of bread. The sautéed shrimp and grit cake was just enough to satisfy and allowed me to save room for the bread pudding. My table mates enjoyed the ribs and fish fingers as well. We had an exceptional experience at Coastal Flats tonight, it was super busy so we were seated about 20 minutes after our reservation, but the staff was super friendly and accommodating- they even comped us an appetizer for the wait. I got the salmon which was cooked amazingly. The mellow ambiance and friendly well dressed wait staff was super enjoyable. Shoutout our waiter James. read more

The mouthwatering Ozzie rolls and delicious Mango Martinis is why I keep coming back! Great place for apps and drinks. I love the complementary bread basket particularly the fluffy "Ozzie" rolls, they are like mini beignets or fried donuts. The pipping hot, soft rolls melt in your mouth! The Mango Martini is among my favorite cocktails, it's so refreshing from the fresh mango puree. So rare that I see a mango cocktail on a menu, so glad that Coastal Flats features it! The Southern Iced Tea is refreshing, it's quite sweet and 1/2 sweet tea and 1/2 unsweetened tea was the perfect balance! The warm creamy Spinach Artichoke Dip is tasty and great way to start off a meal! I wish it came with warm bread rather than tortillas chips. Definitely not enough dip to soak up all of those chips! The Goat Cheese Pecan Salad is delicious! I'm not a big fan of ordering salads at restaurants (why buy something that you can easily make at home?), but the salad has great flavor with bold ingredients that blend well together: pecans, goat cheese, and greens. The house-made Veggie Burger is disappointing and very salty! In the past, it was offered open-faced and now as a wrap, and asked for it in a bun. While I wanted to love the burger made from beets, lentils, oats, and veggies - the salt was overpowering. Hubby didn't quite enjoy the farm-raised Pecan Crusted Trout, the bold pecan flavor of the sauce was overpowering and not worth the steep $24 price. Would be nice to offer the trout with a different seasoning. The seasonal White Chocolate Mousse Cheesecake is rich and decadent. Although I couldn't taste the white chocolate, I still enjoyed the cheesecake. Our server was really nice and treated us to dessert on the house! Before going to the movies, my husband and I love coming here for a round of drinks (Mango Martinis!) and digging into those rolls and spinach artichoke dip. I just skip the main course! read more

Great experience tonight. Pete, our server, was so nice and attentive. We had the avocado toast for the appetizer. So yummy!! We ordered the salmon on a plank dish, wow!!! I had the Chilean sea bass and it was delicious. So recommend this one! Super impressed with the attention to detail and presentation of our dishes. We each ordered one of the mini desserts too. I've dined here several times and definitely plan to go back! The restaurant is located in Tyson's Corner on the lower level (near the Barnes and Noble), so you will deal with the mall crowd. Parking is the normal garage mall parking. I've gone here without a reservation and the wait has never been that longer than 30 minutes, which isn't a terrible wait without a reservation. However, I am sure that could be more at peak times so I would suggest a reserving in advance. The food is so good! I've honestly never had a dish I did not like. The items I would absolutely recommend: Raspberry Lemon Drop Martini, bread basket, blue crab and shrimp fritters, warm goat cheese and spiced pecan salad, and the white chocolate bread pudding. I have to further discuss the bread pudding. Listen, this not your average bread pudding dish, which I am usually not a fan of. It reminds me of a delicious mini Bundt cake. It's honestly one of the most delicious desserts I have tasted in the DMV! read more
Watch out, not going to be a fan guy....but still loving this location! The hotel restaurant was packed and it had been 2 years since stopping by. So why not visit a place I had so much raved about in the past! Walked in and immediately greeted warmly by the staff. Glad to see the front team is still on game! Ordered fish tacos w/ sweet potato fries. They were really good. Scratched my itch for a solid fish taco. On par, service was exceptional. Flying solo, sat at the bar. The team was engaging and on their game. It was pretty busy for a Tuesday, but the team did not seem fazed. Looking forward to a return trip! read more

I came yesterday with my friend for lunch and it's always a nice time at a Great American Restaurant franchise in my opinion, they've been trained to meet a particular standard of service, checking the table at a certain time and making sure guests are not waiting for a long period of time, the company goal is to give guests a pleasant experience . The food was good, I am on a limited diet right now and I am thankful to the server Jason and chef who was able to make accommodations for that without making me feel bad about it or appearing annoyed which was kind! Thank you greatly! I ordered the catch of the day Mahi Mahi, price point $20 which was not bad and it is dished over top of mixed vegetables which include potatoes. I had asked if the potatoes could be removed because of my restricted eating for now but if not, was the chef okay with allowing me to receive spinach and spinach is what I got! I'm sure the fish is better served as it is planned but I can't indulge in everything right now, 2 more weeks!! I also ordered the deviled eggs with spiced pecans and kindly requested the bacon be removed which they also accommodated and so delicious ! The server was also very attentive and did so effectively after receiving a 6 top shortly after we came in! The other servers were also helping each other and rotating on checking on surrounding team member tables which is great ! The ambiance is nice and the restrooms were also nice and timely stocked. read more

We made several reservations as we had a large group that could not be accommodated together. As it turned out some of our party had eaten before the rest sat down. And our kids table finished a long time before the adults (but are old enough and went walking around outside while waiting). The manager gave us free appetizers for our long wait. Once we got seated everything was wonderful. Our food was delicious! We shared the crab and shrimp fritters which were mmm mmm good. I got the 2 noodle salad as my entree and it was outstanding. The flavors all worked together so well. Kids got dessert and said it was "legit". A long night with the wait, but quite a good meal. read more

This place have amazing service and food quality every time! I've been here a couple time and they always served you right even when you go peak times. Whenever something is wrong (bad services or food) make sure you let the manager know so they can fix it for you so you can continue to have a good time. Things I recommend getting here are the blue crab and shrimp fritters for appetizers, any salad is delicious. The catch of the day is fresh and amazing. If you are on edge about trying fish, definitely eat fish dishes here, they make it well so it's not fishy. The mahi mahi is a very good choice for beginners. Overall, any dishes here are safe choices because they are done well. Make sure you save room for the bread pudding because its is yummy! read more

Consistently good food. This one is in a mall with free parking so it makes it easier. Service is very good and there's usually no wait (although we went when they first opened). It's clean and relaxing inside. Today I had the filet mignon tips, which is a "get them before they run out " dish so I got it. I've had it before and really like it. My wife had the short smoked salmon filet, which she enjoyed. read more

Had my NYE dinner here because you can never go wrong with a Great American Restaurant! Enjoyed everything , menu was pretty similar to the other GAR restaurants and service just as great! Took a star off because it is attached to the mall so parking can be a pain, but other than that enjoyed everything. read more

I've been to this particular Coastal Flats many times over the years and both, the service and food have been good, but not what I've come to expect from the Great American Restaurant chain. I recently came here as a family of four on a busy Saturday for lunch, after not being here in the past few years and the service was great! From checking in to the table, it was all really good. The special fish when we visited was Mahi and they did it perfectly! Their deviled eggs are amazing, so is the candied bacon that comes with them and I have to say that for the first time in several visits to a GAR restaurant, the salad was actually perfectly done! One of the reasons I fell in love with Mike's American over 30 years ago was because of their amazing salads and fresh food, which was what GAR delivered for many years, but for the past 5 years or so, I've noticed the entire experience being hit or miss, but this visit was what I recall it being and made me so happy, I visited a Sweetwater two days later for lunch! Hopefully they returned to what made them famous and keep it up! read more

The food was amazing. From the ozzi rolls straight through dessert. I enjoyed everything. It wasn't overly busy when I went but it was very loud in there. The music was a little too high and I couldn't really hear the server. I would still go back and try something else the next time I'm in town for work. It was fantastic!! read more
