Now, I live closer to Tyson's, so I frequent the Tyson's Coastal Flats. I stopped in yesterday as I was doing my post-Xmas shopping. We didn't have a reservation but It only took like 10-15 minutes to get seated. Cyrus was our professional and attentive server. For appetizer, we ordered the crab and shrimp fritters. Normally , it comes with only 3. You can order an additional one for a small up-charge. When you order an additional one, it's great for sharing with another person. For lunch, I ordered the grilled red snapper and opted for sautéed spinach. I also ordered a side of French fries. The shoestring fries are very tasty. I have a dairy allergy , so my red snapper was pretty basic but it was fresh and light. Tip: I strongly recommend you make your reservation online at https://resy.com. Also, they have these delicious hard candies behind the host desk at every location. Make sure you take a handful lol The Ozzie rolls are amazing ! Make sure you request those for your bread ! I came here looking forward to the lobster bisque and the deviled eggs. The lobster bisque was not what I hoped and I asked for some crackers which helped. And the deviled eggs were very good with crisp apple pieces and the candied pecans on top! But the best thing was the Warm Flourless Chocolate Waffle which was divine! They even brought it on a special plate for my birthday! The vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, and toasted almonds balanced out the richness of the waffle! I wished I hadn't filled up so much on the other stuff so I could've eaten more of this lovely dessert. Everything at this establishment was so so good. I had the Cobb salad that the waiter recommended. It was packed with tons of flavor and the dressing is absolutely delicious. We started with two classic mojitos ($9e) and the "Hot Spinach, Parmesan & Artichoke Dip ($12). The dip had an interesting lemon/zesty taste that I didn't really like but I am not sure if it was the dip or the chips. My sister and I came to coastal flats for a valentine double date. It's located in a mall and is very spacious. The place is decorated with lots of Color's and beautiful chandeliers. You can tell they are famous for their seafood because the place is decorated with different sea creatures. We ordered, pasta which was really good, the shrimp was cooked well, not over cooked, the sauce went well with the pasta, asparagus and shrimp. The salad was super good, there was a sweet salad dressing that I liked, I think a citrus dressing might have gone well too. The first time we ordered the ribs, it was burned so we couldn't enjoy it well, however, they were kind enough to place a new order. The new order was great. Not burnt. Lol. I've been to this location three times and it never disappoints. Service is quick, the "porch" seating is very nice, and the food is always good. The chop salad is fantastic and is enough for a light lunch, especially when you pair it with an Ozzie roll (or two). I noticed this time that the restaurant is charging $1 for the bread basket, but they are donating that dollar to feed the hungry in the community. I'm all for that! Lovely gesture. My only negative comment is that $4 is steep for an iced tea; perhaps reconsider how much you're charging for a beverage that probably cost you a dime. read more

I started with the corn/crab bisque...that and a salad would have been a perfectly good lunch, but since this was our 'meal' for the day we also ordered entrees. We wound up grabbing dinner here when we were in the mall waiting for a phone to get fixed. They seated us very quickly despite the full and bustling dining room. The wait staff was very helpful and our food came out very fast. We got the blue crab and shrimp fritters and the lobster roll. The fritters were very tasty and probably our favorite. The lobster roll was also good but I got a couple of large pieces of the shell in it which aren't very fun to bite into. I also got the IPA on tap which didn't have a lot of flavor. Came for a quick lunch with my grandmother at the bar. The bartender was extremely friendly and constantly checked in to make sure we had everything we need to enjoy our lunch. The restaurant was a bit loud but I will chuck it up to it being the weekend and the mall was pretty chaotic, I started with a lobster bisque, which had the perfect cream to it. Wanted to try a restaurant that wasn't a national chain, and this one fit the bill. For a Friday night, around 7pm, it wasn't very busy, in the bar area. I was easily able to get a seat and knew what I was going to order. The staff was nice and attentive for the most part. I decided to stick with all apps, no main courses, going with the Crab & Corn Chowder, Deviled Eggs and the Blue Crab & Shrimp Fritters. Everything came out together, which is fine, as it allowed me to focus on each dish equally. One of the apps really reigned supreme over the others. The Crab & Corn Chowder was excellent. Perfect thickness, temperature was spot on, flavors were all there and portion size was not small. I would have been content with just this. Unfortunately, the other 2 didn't match the quality of the soup. Similar to the soup, the portion size of the deviled eggs didn't disappoint. But, they were kind of bland. I am a snob when it comes to deviled eggs. They have to have a mustard flavor. Although the filling was plentiful, nothing stuck out, except some weird crunchy item in the egg mixture. Not sure what it was. A saving grace to this dish was the bacon slices that came with it. These were excellent, actually. Cold and candied. Perfect. The final app, the fritters were sort of disappointing, too. Just bland. Again, the size was perfect. The lobster sauce was good. But the actually stuffing of crab and shrimp didn't have any seasoning. For some, that may be a good thing, as they may want just the straight flavor of the seafood. This is one of my favorite places to eat in the Tysons Corner mall. The atmosphere is upbeat and fun, service is always excellent; whether you seat at the bar or at a table, and their food selection and quality is great. A couple of my favorite salads are the Ahi tuna salad and the smoked grilled salmon salad. They are both delicious and cooked just the way you ask. And as far as hot entrées, my number one choice is their trout prepared with pecans, citrus sauce and currants. It has a great sweet and sour taste, and broccolini is the perfect companion. It gets very busy at lunch time, so it is a good idea to make reservations, and at Happy hour is also a very popular spot. Cheers! read more

I understand numerical ratings can be arbitrary, so I'm going to be clear that I am giving this place a 3, solely because others at the table seem to enjoy their food and drinks. However, no one raved. I like to be fair and all inclusive with my reviews. If I were doing this review for just my experiences, a 2 at best. The biggest negative mark at this location is the service. The waitress never introduced herself. Didn't make any recommendations, appeared disinterested in serving us and it showed. The waitress was also making all the drinks ordered at our tables, so it took about 15 minutes to get drinks as she had to make them herself. Wondering why the bartender isn't responsible for this. More notably, the unnamed waitress didn't take our orders until we let her know we wanted to order.. this was after about 25 minutes of her just coming back and forth with individual drinks. When we told her we would like to order.. she said she had to go make drinks, but would be back. I get not all serves are energetic and vivacious, however, it doesn't promote good customer service when diners can tell their server isn't too keen on serving them. After our orders were placed, the food came out within the standard amount of time. I ordered the tuna tacos... because I usually love tuna tacos, however these were very tiny and underwhelming. The tuna was very fresh, so kudos for that. The casing of the taco was flimsy and paper like, making biting cumbersome and messy. I also got a side of the cauliflower mash, getting my Keto on... kinda... they were pretty good. The person next to me ordered cauliflower mash, but instead got regular mash. Maybe the waitress misheard or the kitchen did. Overall, the service was off-putting and the food wasn't enough to bring me back or recommend this place. I was excited to try this place. Came here on a recommendation from a friend. I was starving when we came so I got the crab and corn soup, and the 5oz filet mignon with crab cake. I also helped myself to their free bread basket and as other reviewers have stated, the fried donut was bomb! Even tastier with butter. It's a nice, healthy way to start the meal. The crab and corn soup was tasty. Not super salty and the corn brought a nice subtle sweetness to the dish. This definitely hit the spot especially since it was quite chilly outside. I'm so glad I got the filet mignon with crab cake! The steak cut like butter and was grilled perfectly (I asked for medium). The crab cake (sautéed) had huge chunks of crab meat and I absolutely loved it. I live on the west coast and our crab cakes are never like this! I'm thinking of even getting some shipped out to me bc these crab cakes were the real deal! I'm not sure if this is a chain restaurant. The beef ribs were excellent (some might say a little over cooked but I like my ribs done) and the portion was very large, I could barely finish it all. The mashed potatoes weren't bad though the portion wasn't huge and I liked the cucumber, corn and tomato salad. Service was really friendly though the waiter seemed a little too excited/rehearsed at times, maybe he was new. Went on a weekend and surprised with how busy it can be. Got the fried calamari as an appetizer and was pretty standard but good! I got the sautéed shrimp and grit cakes as the entrée which was a nice take on the dish - the asparagus was good too, although I was thrown off by the corn at times probably because I don't eat corn with seafood typically. I had the white chocolate bread pudding for dessert which I was really impressed with! It was also drizzled with chocolate on my plate for a birthday celebration. It was amazing with the vanilla/pudding combo with the caramel inside, balancing the sweetness and saltiness together well. I've also had the filet mignon here before with mushrooms that was pleasant to eat as well - it's like any other good filet mignon but it's still good. Pretty good food and nice staff. I normally have good experiences at this Coastal Flats location but that was not the case on Saturday, April 26th. I made a 10:30PM reservation on the Resy app but later changed it to 10:15PM. We arrived at the restaurant on-time for our reservation and were promptly seated. The waitress came over and was very nice. We asked about the specials for the day and were told that the restaurant was out of all the specials items. The reason given was that it was a busy night. This was disappointing but we understood and proceeded with placing our orders. We started with appetizers. We asked for the Baby Cake Sliders but were told that this item was not available either. Another disappointment. We jokingly asked if we could still get a basket of Ozzie rolls and were told that the remaining Ozzie rolls were thrown out because it was near closing time. This was confusing because the restaurant was still open and had several parties seated at their tables. This is also concerning because the restaurant didn't close until 10:30PM but had reservations offered on Resy as late as 10:30PM. What if I had kept my original 10:30PM reservation? I understand running out of certain menu items but throwing away your popular Ozzie rolls before your restaurant is officially closed doesn't make sense. What if I wanted to order the community bread basket for an appetizer? I just feel that if reservations are offered up until the closing time, then all the food that is available should be kept available until the restaurant is officially closed. I also don't understand why this Tyson's location is still closing at 10:30PM. The pandemic is over. It's located in a busy mall that has a movie theater. You'd think it would close later to accommodate parties coming from movies that end later. Why can't this location close at 11:30PM like the Fairfax location? Perhaps this will be considered now that there's competition from the new Cheesecake Factory that has opened across from it. To make the matter worse, the salmon we ordered was smaller and not seasoned well as usual. It tasted like we got what was remaining in the kitchen at the end of the night and little preparation was put into it. Not a good experience that night. read more
