    Grilled oyster - happy hour
    Benjamin C.

Went out for a date night on a rainy Wednesday evening for some Cajun! Service was friendly and attentive. Pretty casual setting. Ordered the grilled oysters, deviled eggs, crawfish queso, and large seafood gumbo to eat. They had one beer option - bottle of Stella - $5 happy hour, and spouse chose the bayou mamba adult capri sun, which she enjoyed. I'd say this place surpassed some modest expectations. I'd definitely go again for the queso and gumbo! Oysters were good. Eggs were enjoyable but nothing special. A pleasant surprise! Good to have the option relatively close to home.

Overall I like Claw Daddy's but idk what happened with my delivery order. From grub hub I got the seafood file gumbo, creole jambalaya and an order of southern chicken wings. My issue was with the wings. No flavor and I didn't like seeing the feathers on the wings. Yuck.

I was out and about in the neighborhood and decided to stop in my all time fav spot for happy hour. The happy hour is Everyday from 5-6:30 and I believ All day on Tuesdays!!! The entrance has changed to Atlantic now instead of the side door. On the menu I noticed that they have added lobster roll. The inside is still cozy and vibe is still nice; service is always fast. I ordered as usuall baked oysters which were very good, I had a check in free side offer and I got the garlic noodles-they were everything so so good, then I ordered the wings, and they were good as well. For my drink I had the Bideleria adult Capri, and the Bayou Mambo which is a new cocktail both drinks were good. Then Jose the bartender made me the Purple Love and I did fall in love, I liked it a lot. I hope they put it on the menu. I have missed this place and i will try to visit more often. And I definitely recommend it!

    Dozen Grill Oysters, Boudin Balls

I went to Claw Daddy's with a friend for an early dinner, and we enjoyed the food overall! The boudin balls and popcorn crawfish were delicious, and I tried the freshly shucked oysters, which were decent but not standout. The adult Capri Sun (an alcoholic drink in a pouch) was fun, and my friend liked his gumbo and a beer. The space is large and comfortable, though the service was just okay. As someone with family in Southern Louisiana, I think Claw Daddy's is one of the better southern spots in the area, but it could use a bit more authentic Southern hospitality. Little touches like checking in more often, a warm greeting, or complimentary small bites (like hush puppies) would definitely enhance authentic southern experience and help keep customers engaged and returning for more.

Love their grilled oysters. The lobster combo boil is amazing. Make sure you get the adult capris.

Great happy hour spot by a lot of different train stations on Atlantic avenue. The drinks are soju based only, which we didn't know. I had one pouch and felt surprisingly buzzed. We shared the chicken wings which were crispy and very seasoned. The raw oysters were good. I would probably get more raw oysters than the grilled ones. The grilled clams were better than the grilled oysters as well. The sweet potato fries were thick and crunchy. I would come back again.

Had no problem walking in without an rsvp and being seated around 8pm on a Saturday. Service was slow for a Saturday night and the boil was tasty but something was missing to give it that UMPH factor. I got a coconut pineapple mojito in a pouch which was just "ehh" tasted more like juice and had a lot of ice in it.

Happy hour is the main reason why we stopped here. $1.50 oysters and $1 wings sounded like a steal and the taste was pretty good. The boil sauce was very good and everything was tasty. I would say they should probably add a waiter or two, as it did look like only 2 waiters were on staff.

We came here one day to try their happy hour at extremely low prices! Upon entering it was quite busy so they sat us in the back near the bar which was a lot more quieter than the front. We paid $1.50 for each oyster and $2 for the grilled ones and $1 per chicken wings! Since I was on an alcohol cleanse I ordered the Louisiana unsweetened tea but it was quite expensive and only for a normal iced tea... I felt like I'm definitely gonna pass on this one next time. It was strong enough but I could probably make this at home, ngl. The oysters were fresh and tasted fine... the real winner of this place is actually the grilled oysters. Those were worth every penny! Along with the chicken wings! The chicken wings were super crispy but not in a thick breaded way which is exactly what I like! Since I live super close to this place I would totally come back again to try their other dishes but I really love how affordable the happy hour is so I would probably come just for the grilled oysters and the chicken wings and definitely for a drink next time when I'm off my alcohol cleanse!

We went to Claw Daddy's to celebrate a birthday. Ambiance: I want to start out by saying that their music playlist is fire. Lol. The place has two areas, one for sitting down to eat and the other is the bar area. The ambiance in the sitting area is comfortable enough for families and friends to enjoy. Food: the food was ok, it wasn't out of the ballpark good, but it was good enough that I wouldn't mind going back for happy hour oysters and drinks. The service was ok as well. They were very nice but they were not on top of their game. They forgot a few things, we had to let them know a few times, and in the end we just took the "L" and ate the boil without the nutcracker (I googled it...the tool to crack lobster and crab is known as a nutcracker...lol). Overall, I think the experience was ok. It's good for families but the prices are typical nyc prices on the high side. So I recommend it to people who want a quick bite and drinks for happy hour.

Thank you for keeping one of the most important part of the restaurant in tact!

I thoroughly enjoy eating at Claw Daddy's. My cousin put me on to this place because of the grilled oysters! That's the ONLY way I'll eat them now!

Came here right before a show at BAM for their happy hour deal, which is absolutely excellent! $1.50 for oysters, $2 for grilled oysters and $1 chicken wings (which we didn't have this time) plus some drink specials too. Everything tasted fresh and delicious - I'm not usually a fan of grilled oysters but I felt like I could eat a dozen of these on my own. We also got a lobster roll and cajun fries, both of which I remember fondly. The staff seemed a little overwhelmed (maybe there weren't enough of them for the night?) but they still got our food out, joked around a bit with us, and rushed our last dish to us in a takeout container when we told them we really needed to make our show. Will definitely go back again when I have more time to leisurely enjoy them.

The menu also says it comes with house special dessert but we never gotten any. For any seafood, it's market price plus they add a 30% processing fee, which is strange to me. For a Chinese restaurant which usually does not charge tax if you pay with cash, they charge tax here whether you pay by card or cash. The restaurant is pretty big and spacious. The items I would recommend the most are iron steak, crab rangoon, blue crab, snow crab legs, and crawfish. I told our server this when she asked if it was our first time dining here and she found it similarly puzzling. That said, this sentiment is one rarely expressed these days, as Saint Julivert's longevity puts it in what I'd imagine to be an exclusive, highly coveted class of restaurants that have stood the test of time in the face of changing trends, the pandemic, rent, etc. And perhaps more importantly, it has stood the test of time *and* maintained its high level of execution and quality. Saint Julivert is a neighborhood spot as memorable as it is unassuming. We came here at around 7:30pm on a Saturday night. I live quite far from Saint Julivert which is the main reason I hadn't gotten here before this past weekend. Luckily, a friend who recently moved to the area was having a party, describing the offered fare as "drinks and light bites" -- code for "not sufficient for dinner" and an opportunity to find a fun restaurant nearby to try beforehand. Walking up to Saint Julivert was a bit of a thrill for me -- both because of how long it's been on my radar and also because it's nestled on a block that otherwise seems completely residential. The space itself is much smaller than I imagined, very cozy, friendly, and down to earth. We had, in my opinion, one of the best seats in the house, which was a pair of high tops by the kitchen with loads of space for folks (read: us) who like to order a bunch of smaller plates to share. To start, we got a round of cocktails. I had to go with the Kanpai Martini (vodka, gin, shochu, cap corse, guindilla), as I pretty much always start with the martini if one is featured on the cocktail menu, and my partner got the Puerto Escondido (mezcal, beet, grapefruit, jalapeño) which is a super tasty spicy mezcal marg variation. I then tried the Diamond District (mezcal, persimmon liqueur, cocchi americano) which is a variation of one of my other go-to drinks, a white mezcal negroni. No complaints here. Food-wise, we obviously leaned into the seafood here heavily. Tried to sample as much variety as possible and I'd say we did a pretty impressive job. We weren't able to finish everything but we tried our very best. Truly everything was exceptional so my usual letter grades aren't all that necessary because it was As across the board. Eats, below: Amberjack w/ tomato water, crispy shallot, shiso oil Ideal first dish, definitely had some amuse bouche qualities, being both light and bright. The fish was incredibly fresh and the concept overall with sophisticated with use of texture and flavor that was impressive in its subtlety and execution. Chicory Salad w/ blue cheese, walnut, persimmon, coffee cider vinaigrette Our one veggie of the night and it was well worth our while, fresh winter greens with that tried and true blue cheese/walnut combo made unique by the coffee cider vinaigrette which emphasized the sweet and earthy notes of the dish and brought everything together beauitfully. Wild Shrimp w/ salted kumquat, poblano pepper, pomelo If I had to give an award to most unique of the night, it would have to go to this dish. I've had a dizzying amount of seafood over the years and I've been lucky enough try to a lot of different types of things in a lot of different types of ways and this one stands out. Something about the flavor and texture of the mostly-raw shrimp with the delicate and aromatic citrus elements. Just impossibly fresh, bright, and delicious. Octopus w/ pipián verde, roasted tomatillo juice, cucumber, serrano A preparation I'm used to seeing served warm but I enjoyed it cold just the same. The overall flavor profile was predictable but the elements contributing to it were less so. The green mole was delicious and overall this dish was a perfect bridge between the lighter and the richer, a segue so perfect it was as if it was divinely ordained. Squid a la Plancha w/ pine nut, maitake mushroom, tinta, poblano The first of two warm dishes we ordered. A nice complement to some of the lighter dishes we had earlier in the meal that were more aromatic/vegetal/gardenia vibes, this dish was earthier, more umami and grounding. Jerked Hamachi Collar w/ mango-pickle mayo, lime Hard to finish with this because it was probably the richest of the dishes and we were already somewhat full by this point, but I ate as much as I could because it was just that good. The mango-pickle mayo was just sublime, the fish was perfectly cooked and seasoned beautifully -- altogether a playful and powerful way to end the meal.

I wouldn't have done my neighborhood justice if I didn't pay this beautiful restaurant a visit. I walked in here on a cold and quaint Monday night after a really long and exhausting day at work for my favorite treat. I got situated at the bar and ordered two dozen oysters on the half shell. The oysters came our looking phenomenal with a presentation that made me want to dig right in. Everything about these oysters are perfection. They are fresh, shucked with care so they retain their brine, they are a good size and taste phenomenal. The accompaniments on the platter are amazing. Cocktail sauce with freshly grated horseradish, a cucumber hot sauce that adds both heat and texture, a fat, generous wedge of lemon cut with Max juiciness in mind. This is one of the best oyster happy hours in Brooklyn by a mile and I say this with absolutely no exaggeration! The interior of this restaurant is also so beautiful with soft dim lighting and a clean inviting aesthetic. It's perfect for a cozy date night, intimate dinner or just a casual dinner with a little bit of oomph. Prices on most items are very reasonable, but the happy hour menu between 5-7 PM is an absolute steal! I deeply enjoyed chatting with my bartender Diego who is part owner of the establishment and learning how they procure their catch and personally taste the oysters they serve. Tucked in the quiet end of Red Hook right by the water, is Brooklyn Crab - a lively, coastal shanty themed restaurant serving up some seafood favorites... but on a cold day in early February the abandoned and frozen tiki bar downstairs and the residue of snow salt on the staircase leading to the restaurant only served as a faint reminder of brighter, sunny days that await us this summer in New York. I plopped myself on the bar seating as cold gushes of air swept in with the opening door. The heating was struggling but so were we - it really was just that cold. However dire these conditions were, I was here for my weekly ritual - two dozen oysters on the half shell. Trish the bartender was a great sport. We chit chatted about the weather and her California upbringing and everything in between. She was great company and a delight to talk to. When the oyster platter arrived I was met with instant joy. Nicely sized oysters, neatly shucked, briny and beautiful with the accompaniments I like. A cold glass of beer I had been slowly working on in the background. They only have the $1 Sunday oyster happy hour during the winter months. Staff simply can't keep up with the shucking when it's busier. I deeply enjoyed this meal as the sun shined in the glass enclosure and it started to warm up. Far away I could see the waves crashing on the dock, as I guzzled down the ocean's perfect food. I also ordered the peel and eat shrimp and they were very good. Nicely seasoned, with ample amount of lemon wedges to make this meal truly one of a kind. This is one of the best oyster happy hours in Brooklyn, and even though I am traveling away from home right now, I can't wait to return and bask in this sunlit bar one last time this winter. Highly recommended!!

I am much more of a foodie person than vibes (though vibes are also important) but if you come at off peak and off season (i.e. middle of day in the winter), it is not so busy and you can take advantage of their great happy hour deals. We got a little of the happy hour oysters and some appetizers but also got a burger (not on happy hour list). The oysters were great - super fresh, not fishy. Really refreshing. The fries and the burger were also really good. And the shrimp was soo flavorful. I think if we were to come again, would skip the wings - they were ok, though the service was really nice and allowed us to try two flavors (gave us separate sauces) - maybe if we had done just one flavor and let them sauce them themselves it would have been better? Super close to IKEA and unbeatable sunset views. Will definitely come again if every around the area.

The long mirrors on the walls made the space feel bigger and taller as well. First and foremost, I'm giving this place a 5 for the service as they really went above and beyond. It was not the occasional stop by to refill water and grab dirty plates. Our waiter provided great recommendations and offered me a small sample of a wine I had heard him recommend to another table after I had already ordered my orange wine. In terms of food, the bluefin tuna special was very fresh. We enjoyed the hush puppies and the swordfish belly. The fry basket had thin rectangularly shaped fries which were amazing. The only thing is I wish it came with more than two pieces of shrimp and two pieces of fish. The chargrilled oysters were also very good. Lastly they offered free bread pudding which was a perfect way to end the night.

Also tried a new drink, the Freaky French which was tasty. Service again was outstanding, and the meal was great. We'd skip the ribs though next time for the qty and price point. Blackened Swordfish Belly was absolutely delicious, definitely a new favorite. We will return!
