OMG!! I arrived in Manhattan from Cancun and was starving for Soul food. My Foodie friend recommended Bed Stuy Fish Fry in Brooklyn. I hopped on the train to their downtown Brooklyn location and was surprised they didn't have sit down dining. No worries though I was told there was a special through Uber, buy one meal get one free. You know I love a deal. I ordered Oxtails w/rice & peas and collard greens. But wait there's more I was able to order Baked Mac & cheese with Candied Yams all for the price of one meal. The oxtails were tender, Baked Mac & cheese was cheesy, greens were not cooked with pork and were delicious. I had enough food for 3 days!! I definitely will return to Bed Stuy Fish Fry when I return to NYC. Sorry I wasted no time on the Oxtails and forgot to take a picture

This Bed-Stuy Fish Fry is the best of the bunch in my opinion. Go when it first opens. Food is super hot, well seasoned and delicious. This is a business district and I believe the chefs here go the extra mile with their food preparation to serve the famished City Employees. The staff is almost pleasant, might I say, nearly nice. Today I ordered pickup online- a BOGO order of salmon and shrimp bites over fried rice. I got there early and I was tempted to add to my order because all the dishes looked sooo good. I ended up getting an order of the crab cakes. These crab cakes are perfectly made with REAL lump crab meat and they're big! I could eat here for lunch every day. Looks like take out only for now. Good stuff!

Oxtail Platter

Ordered the oxtail plate to-go. It comes with two sides and I got the rice & peas and cabbage. The oxtail plate came with 4 pieces of oxtail, but they were big and had a lot of meat on them. I would like that the fat was more trimmed on the tails. The gravy had a great flavor! I would have wanted some gravy on the rice. The cabbage cooked perfectly (not too soft). I enjoyed the meal and would definitely eat it again. I also tried the greens on my hubbie's plate and those were really good. I actually liked the collard greens more than the cabbage, but can't go wrong with either.

Absolutely delicious food! I've been here a few times over the course of the past couple of months. There's so many great options to choose from. I thoroughly enjoyed the salmon, oxtail, crab cakes, fried shrimp, and whiting for entrée items. As far as the sides are concerned, I've indulged in the candied yams, cabbage, mac and cheese, potatoe salad, macaroni salad, and mashed potatoes. Even the blue velvet cake was incredible. Can't wait to come back here for the salmon, shrimp, and wings for entrées. It's important to be patient when ordering here due to short staff. Also, note that you're likely to spend a minimum of $20 when coming to eat here. This is a takeout restaurant, do not expect to come here and dine in; that's not an option.

sweet/spicy chicken wings, black-eyed peas, yams, sweet potato corn bread

PROS: service was great-wonderful attentive team, easy location to get to; salmon was light/medium seasoned which was perfect, mac/cheese wasn't overly cheesy & you could taste the black pepper, it was good as was the spinach. The star of the show was the "old fashioned" banana pudding. It was the best tasting item. It wasn't just "pudding" with vanilla wafers. It seems as though it was combined cake & pudding. I loved it! It was true old fashioned banana pudding. CONS (kinda): some of the food items were barely hot, chicken tasted satisfactory (would have been better if hot). The black-eyed peas were so-so, it seems as though they had a touch of sugar (threw the taste off). The sweet potato cornbread... great concept but it was too sweet. It has small chunks of sweet potato & corn kernels. Overall, good restaurant. I'd go back but some items I probably wouldn't get again.

Spilled food

Food packaging is very poor that cause food to spill during delivery. Uber delivery guys are horrible. They take absolutely no care I'm transporting your food . They treat your food as if it's garbage they were handling. Very dissatisfied and will probably never use this service especially at this location again.

Hard, dry, Fish, Not Edible At All

I don't understand why restaurants feel it is okay to serve people anything and the customer is just suppose to accept what they are served. If you are going to serve customers fish then please have the decency to serve the fish fresh and hot not some fish you cooked 3 hours ago and have it sitting under a heated lamp. Contrary to what you may believe fish fries out and that means it is hard and not edible. This is not the first time I had issues with this location.

I was walking by and smelled the delicious seafood. I walked into a very clean and brightly lid restaurant. In terms of seafood, they mostly offered salmon. A salmon plate - a sizable piece with two sides is $35 and fried catfish plate - two pieces with two sides is $16. I echo everyone here who has said it's overpriced. It doesn't help that they don't have a menu with prices anywhere in the store. I got the crab cake plate - two cakes with two sides. The crab cake fit completely into a wide spoon. They were real lumps of crab meats. After tax and cash discount charge, it was a bit over $30.

Takeout bag

Ordered from here recently due to my coworkers raving about this location. Upon arrival, the bag was sealed fine tight and there wasn't any spillage and the condiments I requested were inside. I ordered Grilled Salmon on Fettuccine. Now for my thoughts on the food. I was craving this all day and I immediately dived in. The portion size is a bit smaller size than what I envisioned. The food was pretty decent. The salmon was a bit dry and the flavors didn't stick out too much to me. The pasta was pretty good to me. The noodles were cooked fine and weren't chewy. I was a bit disappointed. Perhaps I got it on a bad day, I'm not too sure. If the portions were increased and the Salmon preparation changed; this dish would've been bomb!

Turkey Meatloaf Platter with Candied Yams & Cabbage

I must say this is the best Bed-Stuy Fish Fry location, but they do have some hits and misses. My rating is really 3 1/2 stars, but what they're good at is always good so I gave the 4 stars. Thanks to UberEats I able to enjoy their food and the great deals. I've tried to get different varieties of food off the menu, but I think I'll stick to what I know and stop exploring. My favorites are: the salmon (blackened and grilled), turkey meatloaf, salmon cakes, crab cakes (so full of lump crab no fillers) shrimp (any style) and catfish fritters Favorite sides: mashed potatoes (they are always consistently good), candied yams, cabbage, rice and peas and sautéed spinach. Dessert: Blue Velvet Cake My not so favorites: baked chicken ‍ (the palest unseasoned dry chicken); stir fry potatoes ( not sure how to describe it, but it's not what I expected). Asparagus was cut up and over cooked. The lemon cake came warm because they put it directly on my hot food, my frosting was melted and it was super sweet and the cake was not moist it had a weird consistency. All in all I love this place, I just know to stick to what I like and not venture to far from that.

Bbq Chicken Dinner Platter

Do yourself a favor and please go here! The food is always so fresh and so flavorful. The chicken is cooked perfectly; moist and juicy! Genuine soul food that makes you feel all good and warm inside, comforting! The side items are OMG good, they all taste homemade. I honestly cannot say enough great things about their food. Nicely sized portions too. Some of the best Mac and Cheese I've ever tasted. I have only ordered delivery so not to familiar with the service but I have heard great things. BOGO meals on Uber eats! Great location if you are working or shopping in Downtown BK. You will not be disappointed.

We had stir-fried snails, jellyfish, Dungeness crab, live steamed fish, braised eggplant with fish fillet, stir-fried cauliflower with preserved meats, coral shrimp, sliced conch with crispy tofu, beef with string beans, seasonal vegetables, and fish maw soup. Everything came out hot, delicious, and well seasoned. The Dungeness crab was a standout, and it was refreshing to enjoy such a wide variety of seafood and traditional dishes. My wife was pleasantly surprised by the entire meal. The interior was nicely done and felt different from many other Chinese restaurants in Brooklyn. Service was attentive, and they seated us in a corner where we could enjoy our family conversation without constant interruption. The food came out very quickly, maybe a little too quickly, but we were fine with it. They were unfortunately out of a few fish and clam options, as well as several wines, but it did not take away from a great dinner. Came for Happy hour since I was in the neighborhood and haven't been in a long time. I was surprised that Josè remembered me at the bar so kudos to him I was really impressed. The raw oysters were fresh and came with Pico de gaello; it is innovative and pairs really well. I loved it on the oysters. The Wings as always were really tasty, fried well and paired wit the lemon hot sauce made it even better. A1 Of course the drinks never dissapoint. Aside from Happy-hour there's a regular menu. The next day which is today. We've been in bed whole day. The service was slow and the server messed up on the bill. How dare you question a minor instead of the adult to see if the bill was cleared. If I was there that wouldn't have happened. I stepped away to go to the washroom after paying the bill, which was incorrect. I even questioned it and was reassured that it was correct. To only have my child questioned about something they would know nothing about. Teach your staff about approaching children about adult matters. The setting was ok. The sauce was once again the highlight, and it paired perfectly with the potatoes. My friend and I opted to share a few different dishes, which in order from favorite to least were as follows: - Risotto: the risotto was cooked pretty well and was creamy. You eat them whole and can dip into the yuzu mayo which is a fun experience. - Amberjack: a light and refreshing crudo that's worth ordering if you're in the mood, but not a must - Whipped mackerel: the bread was good and nicely toasted and the whipped mackerel had a lovely flavor. Would order this again. - Cod Pot Pie: I love the idea of this one and with the sauce it was pretty good, however the cod pot pie was on the dry side. Without the sauce it would've been a miss. We also got the mezcal flan for dessert which I highly recommend! The cocktail menu is also pretty fun and looking around the restaurant it seems like folks opt for these drinks over the wine list. The service was friendly and in order to maximize space on the table, got a vase to store the flowers I had brought for my friend. Overall a fun spot for a catch up or date night in the neighborhood, but I don't think you necessarily need to go out of your way to check out this spot.

The combination of the mussel, rice, currants, and warm spices were truly immaculate and blended together seamlessly. For the main course, I ordered the Iskender Steak: a 10-ounce grilled Black Angus strip served over flatbread with brown butter, tomato sauce, and yogurt. Every single bite was rich, savory, and satisfying. My server was very attentive throughout the entire dinner without being overbearing. I wanted to mention her name but unfortunately misplaced my receipt. I love the fact that when I chose the calamari, that they do have the tentacles as well, and not just the rings. For Peaches Prime to meet that one thing was a BIG PLUS to me for a restaurant that looks a little bit more upscale. But the icing on the cake was the fact that I was able to ask for more calamari with the tentacles in less rings so for me that is a win! The drink glasses are quite small like most upscale restaurants are so by the time you put ice in a cup you don't have that much to drink. I ordered shrimp and grits and it has kale in it with mushrooms and the flavor profile was good, but it's not like a southern profile for grits. A southern flavor profile is more rich and hearty. It was good, but the grits were on the runny side. I was provided a fork. I thought it was a small joke at first. You 100% require a spoon and fork with the shrimp and grits. You need a fork for the shrimp and to remove the tails using your butter knife, but to eat the dish you need a spoon. I like the fact that the kitchen did have a little kick of spices. One thing that is always underrated when you go out to eat at a restaurant anywhere in the world, but especially in North America even in Canada, is that food usually comes out to your table warm not hot. But the food came out piping hot and I love that fact. So that's ANOTHER WIN!! They have non-gender restrooms. They were very clean. The hallway that leads to the restrooms seem to be in a different restaurant. I wanted dessert, but I didn't have the room for it after my delicious meal. I definitely will be back but it's not a restaurant that I can come to every week or else. It's not gonna be good for my diet. I would eat too much!

For return visit, I would definitely order drinks and smoked trout dip. Because they seem to update their menu, who knows what the main would be... Nevertheless, service was impeccable, the ambience was really chill and had a sexy vibe. although the place was full and really busy, it didn't seem that loud.
